we NEED more hi low, this was so entertaining and actual quality content most creators would never try
Agreed! Excited for season 2. And it's awesome they did this because this is something that you might expect from a high-budget production and not necessarily from a UA-cam channel
For the next season I would love to see this:
Take a really cheap car and an expensive car, install the expensive parts on the cheap car and install the cheap parts on the expensive car. That'd be a really cool twist on the whole thing.
Of course they would. But that isn't the point of this, is it. You could argue the same thing with this first season so I don't get your point at all.
That would make no sense to undue all the work on both cars, and then put more effort into another shitbox.
Maybe I wasn't clear. I'm not talking about undoing any work on any cars, never mentioned that. The idea is to see whether you can make a cheap car perform better than a more expensive car.
Cheap baseline vs expensive baseline
End up with roughly the same overall spend
Cheap car: $5000 initial buy with $30,000 in parts
Expensive car: $25,000 initial buy with $10,000 in parts
Both spending about $35,000 overall
Just as an example
5:37 low car: free. Total: goes up by a grand 😂
it didn't actually, it summed up the 900 $ thing again from the value it had before so it went from 1650 to 2550(or sth like it) when the 900$ when they said it and then went down to 1650 and whent up to 2250 when they out the diff
Ben4TheWin the one before it lowered the total 100 when it should have raised it 900
HiLow:
Mazda Rx-8s
Honda S2000s
Mazda Miata
2008 Mustangs
2014 Charger R/T
1998 Honda Civic hatchback
Donut media: were gonna do a second season of HiLow very soon
Covid-19: how about no
They've got 5 or 6 different episodes posted on Facebook. Came here to see if they say why they're not posting on UA-cam. Facebook sucks for this, they need to be posted on UA-cam, mainly so I can watch on my work computer
@@dicedicerice69 oh that's cool, i didn't know that. ill have to check it out.
@@dicedicerice69 They'll post here eventually, in the fall or so. I think they got some money from Facebook for a timed exclusive.
At the end I really wanted to see each host 'build' their ideal 'middle' Z using either the high or low parts from each category. For examples here's mine:
Coilovers - HIGH
Wheels & Tires - LOW
Brakes - LOW
Interior - LOW
Diff - LOW
Exterior - HIGH
Turbo - LOW
That would put me at $11,350 for my ideal mid build
I highly agree on them building their "dream" mid car. That would certainly be entertaining.
bluexeyedxpassion i have a ‘low’ turbo kit for my 350 and I have ac...
nahh i’m gonna have to agree with you accept for the brakes and turbo i wouldn’t want to skimp out on that stuff especially since low brakes caught on fire and low turbo had boost leaks leading to very little power gaisn
Donut has put out a lot of quality content over the years, but this takes the cake. ALL the cake. Well done, sirs.
Next season recommendations:
Subaru Impreza
Mazda Miata
Perhaps some 90s era muscle cars (goal is a drag racer that can be a daily)
BMW M3 or M5
Mini Cooper
Volkswagen Golf
Hyundai Veloster
Ford focus or Fiesta
Maybe add a Hyundai Genesis coupe, 2013 Honda Civic, maybe a 3 series bmw instead of m cuz those are expensive
Slightly different premise idea:
More expensive car w/ cheap parts
Less expensive car w/ expensive parts.
Each team gets the same total budget to work with.
Perhaps the performance version of a car vs the economy version of it with the same end budget?
@@awcole86 you'd be stuck with a crappy engine with really low, non existent tuning potential. No matter if you forge the econobox engine and then add two turbos, you won't beat the high end engine even stock.
“I make 4 mill a episode” “I can’t afford it”😂😂
Absolutely loved this series. The Hi-Low Z comparison was perfect. I would love to see this done with an S chassis Nissan, pair of honda s2k's, or on a pair of old toyota AE86's. Doing the hi-low on 80's and 90's drift cars would be the best and most watchable series.
AE86 would be impossible. It would be 2 rusted out crap cars that cost $20,000
Zacry Carmichael def no cheap ways to mod ae86 or s2k shit even Megan coilovers for a corolla are over 1k
Bro you need to do easier to attain cars. How tf are they gonna get 2 ae86s near identical
this is why I love this channel....they understand that most normal viewership doesn't have 30k$. please make more of these
This and money pit have me interested in the channel and cars in general again.

I would love to see an E36 or an E46 on the next Hi Low!
Looking at the comments so far:
1. Honda Civic
2. Mazda Miata (NA, NB)
3. Ford Mustang (Fox-body, SN95)
4. BMW E36
5. Subaru WRX/STI
6. Chevy Corvette (C5,C6)
Well i own an sn95 but given the choices i would go with the wrx sti sounds like more fun lol

2011 Ford Fiesta Hi/Low is what I’d LOVE to see. Just because it’s my personal car and I find it almost impossible to find parts to make it amazing. (Just an opinion)
This is one of my all-time favorite series. Great job making this-- seriously 10/10 entertaining and educational! More content like this please.
Thank you guys for this series. This was a great project and I just started getting into cars so this was awesome all around. And you guys are very entertaining. Good show.
I would love to see another season of Hi and low on a:
1:Mistubishi Evo
2:Subaru Wrx
3:Ford Mustang
Next time they should have:
High Car
Low Car
Reasonably Priced Car
Agreed! But just call it Mid Car, and split the difference in investment between the Hi/Low cars for each segment. None of us want the cheap eBay car, but the real question is whether high car is actually better than mid car if you have the cash to burn to go for best of the best on every part.
1. BMW E39 (not m car hehe :D)
2.Subaru WRX (till '07)
3.Honda Civic
4.BMW E46 (not m please :) )
5.Golf MK4 ( mybe GTi)
6.Mazda Miata MX-5 gen 1( POP UP AND DOWN HEAD LIIIIGHTS)
This list consists from (possible) RWD Diesel sedans, Perma 4WD Awesome trawl and snow beater, A JDM favourite little FWD hatch, To RWD German hatchback with its popularity for 50/50 and it's drifting potential, and a cool tuners favourite FWD golf, that dosent have much horsies under the hood, but feels sporty af, and lastly a good, but small car for you guys :), with giving you the needed boost when ac is off
This is my top pics for cars I personally would try HI LOW
Y'all could really do something special with the HiLow concept. this could be your "JDM" seasons then have an american muscle season, rock climber season etc. have fun with it man, take it and run with it because it works. your real subscribers love it.
James: i make 4 milion $ on episode
Also James: can't afford 13 000 Z
You should run tests with the car while it’s stock prior to adding modifications so we can have an idea of how much the parts actually affect the car. Also would love to see a WRX
I was kinda thinking I'd just rather have one of the Zs before they molested them. Maybe a restomod, and just replace old bushings and mounts and struts with new.
For season 2, Hi-Low should definitely find and modify one of the following
Miata
240sx
WRX STi
Civic
Mustang
I’ve just watched the whole series.... this was amazing 👌🏼 so good and I hope there is another one
The most entertaining thing on youtube I've seen for months. Love this channel so much
Miata. Even “Hi Car” parts are still cheap. “Low Car” parts are like Dollar General.
Nah, it makes good sense to still have a spread but not break the bank on either the hi or low cars. It is relatable because many people could still afford either. I think the biggest issue would be large drivers in small cars. If that was a deal killer then maybe something like the acura tsx with the k24, would be a good option. Both hi and low would not break the bank. I’m not even a honda fan, but it would be a cool variation.
Yeah. Im not a miata owner. But I think miata is the answer for next Hi Low season
Yeah this is my favorite series on UA-cam right now.
I literally looked every single day for the next episode.
A few good cars would be: (my suggestions are based on strong aftermarket options and support)
Mazda Miata
Ford Mustang
Subaru BRZ/Scion FRS
Subaru WRX
You could’ve just waited for every wednesday where they drop their episodes
You guys went with JDM for the first season which was a great way to start off hi low, but personal I’m a muscle bro. I’d love to see season two bring in some awesome hi and low American muscle. Keep up the great content
I don't know anything about cars. You all do such a great job of explaining things, and doing both cheap and expensive parts I've one, learned so much and two, makes me think I can buy a used car and work on it. Thank you for all you guys do!
It ain’t budget if it doesn’t have cut springs and is straight piped.
This whole series feels like a Top Gear special and I fuckin love it.
Hello from Australia....Super entertaining series and format starring a bunch or legends! I want to see LOTS more HiLow....maybe a 4x4 one 🤘 keep up the awesome Donut Media work!
Missed opportunity! They should have done a Holden HiLow when Down Undah recently!!a
Hi-Low Honda civic, there should be a lot of opportunities of being very low and very high because of the vast and open nature of Honda civics between 1990 - 2010 ish.
Why do ppl still not understand that Honda civics r not tuner cars and r river cars
damn 1yr later and still no second season of hi-low
Great episode, awesome series. Love the 350/370Z. Hi-Lo year 1 set the bar high. Look forward to your next series
conclusion of this series:
nothing.
purpose of this series:
_Entertainment_
I could probably do a faster time in a stock miata tbh... they would've needed a professional driver in there to do 20 laps in each then take the average for both to get a more "scientific" number lol. But who cares I enjoyed it.
Do one with cheap drift car vs expensive drift car ?
Cars you can choose from:
Nissan 240sx
BMW E36
BMW E46
Scion FRS/Subaru BRZ
Mazda Miata
So awesome to see that you guys came to New Mexico to test HiLow. We love you guys out here and would love to see you again in the future!
Possible options for next up?
- Honda Civic/Acura Integra
- Subaru wrx
- BMW e36/e46
- Audi TT
- late 90's to early 2000's mustang?
This series has been awesome. The episode on the turbos was my favorite. Suggestions for next season:
- Honda S2000
- Mustang Foxbody
- Chevy Camaro 4th-gen
- Subaru Impreza WRX STi Wagon
- BMW 3-series E36
- Pontiac GTO 2004 (yes I know it's a rebadged Holden Monaro)
Also, as a challenge to Hi Team next season (and for added craziness), the The Hi Car should be twin-charged (turbo + supercharger).
I would not want to see them dedicate an Fbody Camaro. Let them molest the Aztec instead.
@@kolelester834 But it would be really cool to see some Aztecs ready for the track.
Customizing new edge mustangs would be cool, or any v8 muscle, its very important that people know that i stand up to pee
I loved this HI/LOW so entertaining and informative specially for someone that is not a huge gearhead but that loves cars and is upgrading a truck and a car. I would love to see yall HI/LOW a Scion tC they are inexpensive to purchase TONS of aftermarket parts ranging from cheap to "I am not paying that to put on a 10 year old car!"
Anyway I would love to see yall do this again with any car but especially a Scion tC!
Re-living what introduced me to this channel, love where it came from and where it's going!
Wow... what a go series.. dont change the platform, i love every episode.
id like to see a third person in hilow to cover mid range parts.
Car Suggestion:
civic
GT86 / Brz / Frs
Mx5
Wrx
Not a BRZ/86/Miata/MX5... So overdone...
MCM, Car Throttle, and everyone else on the internet already did them.
Damn i would like to see some old classic USA cars, like old Mustang or smth like that.
Do a wrx or maybe like an early 2000 mustang
I need more hi low in my life I could watch these all day every day or even just how to videos on different car parts
Love the series. Keep it up.
Thought: Maybe conclude by doing a piece by piece summary on what worked/recommend instead of the “pick one or the other” choice?
Or maybe do a vs matchup where each team is given a budget to build the ultimate daily for a variety of competitions (1/4, drift, track, mpg, etc? Interesting to see how each team will decide on what is important and what to spend the budget on.
If you’re looking for different types of competitions I suggest you check out Hoonigan’s build and battle. They don’t start with identical cars but it’s still an excellent series
@@blackinblue11 I would say yeah the 40min episode was good they need more of those fastest 40min of my life

Recommendations for next season:
Hi-low car muscle edition,
Hi-low car off-road edition,
Hi-low car shop truck edition
You should sponsor these projects. You sound like you have lots of money;)
I didn't even start watching and I like it already 🔥👍🏾
Really great series! I think a fitting end would be how much they sell for (dont know if it should be publicized until after, for accuracy). Seriously great channel! Thanks
Car: Breaks down
James: “I think we should drive it into the Grand Canyon”
“Modern show off mussel cars that you could take to the quarter mile”
Thing like drag tires, blowers, ECU’s ext. , maybe two mustangs or challenger RTS. Just a suggestion.
I'm Zintriqqs I was really about to suggest new edges, but built as drift cars, those things could do some damage I’d dialed in properly
Awesome show, fellas! I have to agree, I'd definitely go somewhere in between. I like a comfortable ride and better handling over power, so I probably wouldn't skimp on suspension, while I could get away with lower-mid range stuff for everything else.
You guys should do an AWD car for the next season, like a Subaru or Audi. Supe up some Outbacks lol.
this is genuinely an amazing series netflix and hulu worthy, just doing this with different types of cars. from muscle to Euro to JDM to some weird ones think it's a great series.
Yoooo, y'all should do a acura integra! ✌ love the content. I just bought one and would love to see the difference on High or Low.
After watching this series about 3 times all the way through this is the best show, also I would like to see kit cars, any like a fiero or something that can look and be drastically different
Do honda civics HiLow
Immense aftermarket support and still relatively cheap and easy to upgrade
Civic is boring now :D Cuz it's overused car everywhere. I think GT86 would be interesting :)
@@Litassa that would very interesting but still being above 15k per vehicle + mods that would be equivalent to STI money territory. It just doesn't seem practical. But you're right the Honda thing does seem over done
@@mangokraken Yeah just suggestion, I think Integra or RSX would also be nice for lower starting price than GT86
I'd say definitely an Mx-5 or an e36.
you can buy both for really cheap and they are great driving platforms. Maybe even do a cheap rally car or drift car challenge instead of a pt.2 track car
I would love to see that! I own a e36 myself sooo would be kind of helpful :)
Or do a c4 corvette preferably the lt1 like 3-4k for a v8 autox track monster 300hp stock easily 400whp with heads and cam
A bimmer is going to be high maintenance but the MX-5 is perfect for an enthusiast on a budget.
Do a season with Miatas but this time do Hi, Low, and Mid
I cried with you guys on that turbo episode... the PAIN! Just blew the crank pulley on my K24Z two weeks ago. I know what a crying man feels. 😩😂
I'd like to see either a Honda Civic HiLow or something out there like a Ford Mustang
Or even a Miata
Yes, the ubiquitous Civic, and the mustang and Miata are great choices as well. Also, I think anything from the best cars under 10k video would be good
I wasn't expecting a roller coaster of emotions watching this series. Do ya'll have any plans for those Z's now?
Dam nice you guys came to my hometown abq to test em 🔥
Very entertaining! You guys do a great job keep it up!
You guys brought it up in this last episode I think you guys should take on an older inexpensive Porsche the 911 996. you have many options that you can choose from as to which type of 996 and you can take on the IMS bearing issue the bore scoring issue all that stuff in your high low. Either way I'll be watching!
Truthfully, I would love to see a Hi-Low with miatas. They're cheap cars and yea they're slow but that's a car a lot of people buy to beat on or even learn stick shift. Regardless, I think itll be fun to watch.
I think team hi was better, but for that price, team low won imo........I'm also broke so if anything thatd be the long term route I'd take🥺🥴
i don't think james and nolan would fit in a miata well, im 6'1" and i CAN NOT fit in one with the seat all the way back it feels like a go kart.
Don't forget that's just the price of parts not labor. That high car would be insanely expensive for a non mechanic to build
NEEDS a 2nd season, this was so entertaining to watch, for the nxt season a miata or a civic ek hatch, a brz or maybe an lancer evo
Older wrxs are finally getting less expensive would be a perfect car for this
Zed Vallez hell yeah BRZ/86/FRS would be a sweet one, very affordable cars and huge afternarket support bor them.
Motorcycle series of hi low,
This was great content, we need more of hi low, more power baby🚀
I'd love to see this done with some classic muscle cars obviously with cheeper ones though like late gen 2 Camaros/Firebirds, Mavericks, Comets, Cougars, or Mustang coupes. The challenge would be to build a street legal drag build.
Does more expensive mean more better?
Nolan: *Well yes, but actually no*
What about an older BMW Z3? They aren't worth a whole lot right now and they are a ton of fun to drive.
Kingsummit or a 97-06 BMW e46 325i cheap fun and I can friends in the car
I did this 13 hours ago, and you do it now and get more likes?
My choices for next series:
- Miata
- RX-8
- Civic Si
- S2000
- Old muscle/pony cars (mustang/Camaro)
- WRX
- BMW 3 Series
- solstice/Saturn sky
Would love to see the E9x 3 series. There are plenty of ways to go ultra premium or ebay special on them.
Nolan's car looks so much harder than Lil Pumphreys
*Edit* I'm sorry Nolan but you can't leave us now, none of you can. What is life without Donut

Ákos B my guess is labor work...but idk if they added it for the rest of the mods
All the numbers added up correctly. My guess is they redid the graphic of the money for the last mod going up to keep the aesthetic of them both rising in cost. Or it’s just a mistake, idk
James: I make 4 million dollars for every episode of Hi Low
Also James: I can’t afford the $33,000 car
@kevin smith he might make more money by ads and sponsors? right?
He sang a song, said "that's why I get paid the big bucks", followed by the $4 million each episode line. He says a lot of things, that are jokes.
Cool comparison. My 05 350Z is just above low car price. But no turbo, just decent suspension mods. After all the real fun in driving a Z is its handling. Thanks for sharing.
You guys are the next top gear! Amazon Netflix deals coming soon calling it now!
They should do HiLow on 98 Honda Civics 😂
Good luck finding a single unmolested civic, let alone 2 of the same spec that aren't riced out to shit lol
Hi-Low season 2 idea:
Car: Either Honda S2000 or Mazda MX-5 (Miata)
Shocks: Airbags instead of Coils.
Aero (replaces painting/wrapping for exterior section): Cheap body kit and a widebody kit.
Forced Induction: Superchargers rather than Turbos.
Wheels and Tires: Same as season one, widebody kit will have much wider tires.
Interior: Same as season one, but with the addition of a short-shifter for both Hi & Low.
Exhaust (replaces differential section): Cheap and Expensive.
ECU Remapping (replaces brakes section): DIY vs Professionals
So wouls that mean they wouldn't upgrade brakes and differentials? Those are pretty important things when doing lap times
@@adodoes8770 thats the idea just thought I would try switch things up a bit
