I been playing civ 5 for many many years. I have close to 800 hours. I recently started playing civ 6 and it felt so convoluted, from the new mechanics of having to build amenities a few tiles away from the city, the religion mechanic being very different- or at least appearing that way, the research seems to be randomly put there and if I want x and usually Y was with X, now you have to unlock Z to get to X And the most important one, I can't tell whats a luxury, crabs? Sure, but why don't I see the +4 happiness.
I then downloaded the civ 6 mobile version. And I am so lost. I didn't realize that builders act similarly to great prophets, 3 uses and they disappear ..
I got Civ 6 the day it came out, was hugely disappointed by the cartoony graphics, how incapable the AI was, and lack of units. For example, chariot->knight->tank. Felt like a huge step back. I tried it again in 2018 and thought it still sucked, never looked back. I am trying it again now because I hear the 2021 update did a lot of good, and it as been patched for years and has nice mods. Ara was a disappointment as we knew it would be on release (maybe ill pick it up in a year) and we know Civ 7 will be lame on release and need patches... so Im gonna try this again. The graphics though... MY GOD who the hell throught this was a good idea? 6:14 What are those? Some of them hardly look human anymore they went so hardcore on the cartoonyness. Why do some of the leaders look half decent, and then others (Ghandi for example) look like a hobbit and a troll had a baby? Why are the colors so bright? I feel like this was made for children. I hear there is a mod that redoes the graphics to remove some cartoonyness, I will absolutely look for that.
@@hokedo It's subjective, but I would bet anything I have a higher % of people prefer "realistic" graphics over cartoony for a game like civ. Also, I just tried the game again after 6 years. the AI is STILL terrible. It's not fixed. The AI cannot handle 1 unit per tile, it just can't. The largest change between Civ 4 and Civ 6 are you can no longer stack units into big armies. It's one unit per tile, except for non combat units like workers/settlers. This was done to stop "stacks of doom" (stacks of like 20+ units) but the AI simply can not handle one unit per tile, and it creates traffic jams. It was a good idea on paper but awful in practice.
