Looking at Maretu's previous works, my view on this lyric is actually quite literal, hate and vengeful victim of others misdeeds towards them. Feels like sequel to almost every Maretu song, scrumize, taste of cockroach, white happy, etc.

“Hurt and depressed, are you going to curse the blue sky-“ This line reminds me of “Thirst” because from the English lyrics that I got from a video, one of the lines says “Cold, shimmering, blue, sky~”

Wait, after I read it again for nth times, now I realized. This is not about taking revenge. This sounds more like suicide intention, if you see the "enemy" as your own life and "tears" is the thing that hold you back from taking your own life. This matched quite well as Magical Doctors sequel: they lose all their will to live as they have nothing left, because of others misdeeds when they at their lowest from drug addiction. Their life is now all but hopeless. It makes sense now

@@mayhare55555 nah i think it’s the other way around. The enemy IS the suicide intentions and the person in the song is trying to fight away the tears and the urge to give up.

Ah, I haven’t heard of anyone noticing this yet, so I just wanted to mention it, if you wear headphones you can kind of hear in one side a darker and more slower version of the tune, and on the other a sound that’s a little more chippy and hyped
Which ( in my opinion by the way:) might feed into the theory that it actually can be a two person/ an optimist vs pessimist battle
But I could just over thinking it lmao

@@dadaromafan506Darling is supposedly the prequel of New Darling. The songs are about entirely different themes though.
I think people just prefer making up some big cinematic universe, instead of just paying attention to the songs and recognising a simple similarity for what it is. An Easter egg or something of the sort.
That’s just how I see it though.

(edit, but a small disclaimer: this is just a interpretation) Seems like a second take on white happy to me... The pessimist tries to convince the optimist that the world is terrible and always goes against you "your armour, rusted and shredded, are you still going to wear it?" possibly telling them to make a change in them and "they steal the treasure" which could possibly mean "people are greedy"
There are also some lines like "why do you hesitate to bleed and suffer?" which kinda sounds like "why are you afraid and hesitating to think the world is bad?" and a line "an enemy to kill" which probably means the optimist's optimism
"days and months pass these won't cure you" possibly hinting that the optimist had suffered a loss and can't forget it
And in the end the pessimist wins "your thought awaken"
Edit: sorry if the explanation is too literal or weird
    Edit: ANOTHER THEORY BABIIII
So if we are talking about a stand alone song then, it feels a bit spiritual (IDK if it makes sense)
We can take it as a entire story of a criminal, and a fight with self (the good side of self and the bad one), so the beginning kinda sounds like a mind of a twisted person if it was ever translated into a song, "my soul has been silent for so long it has to cry out some day (basically all of the stress and pressure they got before being the bad of society)" something like "you had a bit of sincerity and you let it go" sounds like the good side in the evil and probably also means a transition to a normal person to a person who finds joy in committing more harm. So when the screen goes black it feels like the good is speaking with a bit less literal sense but more effect one "are you going to put that dead cold body up there? (indicating the victims)" "why don't you bleed and suffer? We will have to kill the enemy! (it sounds like karma and the kill the enemy part means "just end these evils were you currently are and move on the a good life instead")". "pouring blood and tears" is basically saying "causing chaos and harm", "you dye darker and deeper" maybe means dreams of who they wanted to be and then it goes all negative and then "your heart hasn't stopped yet right?" part because actually sounds like the twisted mind instead of the negative one talking to itself. And now we can get into the origin of the criminal "they laugh and laugh and steal all the treasure" maybe the person was treated terribly and then it was the cause why they are even at their sinister state in the first place, "the flattened and boiled bodies" just means the victims again and "let's stop why bother about the future they ended" this time the evil side is talking back about the victims to the good one in a literal way. "You had one wish and you kept it unsafe till it was stolen!" kinda sounds like saying "you wanted to be someone who you currently aren't but it's too late to go back now...". So now the screen goes black again this time the good talks more of in a strict but genuine and true way "these days and months passing by and heal you" the black part repeats the same lines after the previous black part and then, the second drop this time the person has a regret "don't bother me tears, tears!" we can skip this until the "your thoughts have been awakened" or I would say "you've realised where you've been now" and then the end where the song falls off indicating suicide because they've realised how much harm they actually caused knowing they'll never be able to go back. Sorry if it doesn't make sense.

Okay so I had some questions
"that cold body" part may not make sense but first of all, this can probably symbolize pessimist's broken and dead innocence. And the second question, does the kanji mean something or it's just changed a bit: yes, it means 'moon' (tsuki) but the second drop it has a small change, a line peeking out of it, not sure what it means as I am still learning Japanese and I am also not sure about the thing right beside the kanji. Okay so the 'moon' (tsuki) probably means the time of evil/the dark

imo this is about a person that keeps running away from their reality and staying stagnant, never changing their life or doing anything, but only suffering. the singer is telling them to take off their armor that keeps them in this numb and miserable state and to actually try for what they want again. They are avoiding suffering because of the trauma they've been through to the point where they never try or improve, and the singer is telling them that their life hasn't ended yet and that they have an enemy to avenge, so what's the point of blaming yourself and wasting time? Instead of cursing the world they should fight back and try to get what they wanted and build a new, better future for themselves. maybe that's a bit optimistic, but i think it's nice.
also, this kinda reminded me of umitagari (disillusioned.) it can definitely be tied to a lot of maretu songs, but since umitagari is my favorite i'll talk about it. perhaps the person in umitagari that loved someone so much and knew that it would never turn out kept themselves in that helpless state of holding onto scraps of their relationship, even when it hurts them and when they know that it will never work. this song is telling them to get over that pain and fear and stop being so attached to one single person. idk but i love maretu songs

I personally think this song is about sh. I also looked at the vocaloid website with all the lyrics on one spot so that was easier- So one of the lines says "Take out your blades, your blades." probably meaning the object they use to sh. "Your heart hasn't stopped beating yet, right?". I think this means that the heart hasn't stopped yet because of what they do. It releases pain. "Slash down your blades, your blades." Another example. "Your life hasn't ended yet right?" because of sh. I am not that good at interpreting but I hope this made some sense. To everyone struggling with anything, I love you

    • @crystalgarrett3071

Personally I think this depends on what the connotations of ‘blade’ are in Japanese.
In English the word ‘blade’ is strongly associated with self-harm, but the word in Japanese might not carry the same connotations. I think here it’s more used to refer to a sword, given how ‘sword’ has been a common alternative translation.

This song is so SO relatable for me so this interpretation might not make sense at all and is totally not just based on me because this song is so crazy real to me.
Anyway so I see it like it’s about a girl struggling with depression, but is hiding it from people. The girl wishes everyday to “hurt more”(stormy weather lyrics)so one day she’ll end up breaking and give up, wishing that then someone will notice.(Will your soul that's held out through so much just give up from this point on?). The girl has hidden everything to protect herself and others to see the truth of her emotions. The girl wasn’t this hurt before and had hope of getting better, but ended up giving that hope up(Your armor is all rusty and shredded, so how long are you going to be wearing it? You had one last bit of pure sincerity left, but you couldn't protect it, and you abandoned it.) she wonders if she should commit su1c1de and sh, but hesitates. She doesn’t want to do hurt, let alone risk anyone noticing shes hurting. Instead she tells herself that “she’ll strike down the enemy” , or the pain and depression. The girl is unsure what to do. Should she take out her blades and let the blood flow with her tears? She tells herself that her heart hasn’t stopped yet, and that she’ll continue going. But at the same time she tells herself that she has to stop now.
(This part is just based on me)
The girl has a dream of who she wants to be in the future, but her parents said that what she wants to become is not worth it, and that she should become something good, stealing her only wish from her.
The girl waits for months and days for the depression to leave her. If she just waits, hides it, she’ll surely heal. The girl instead gets worse. She wonders if she should end her life and almost decides to tell everyone the truth. But she hesitates and decides not to. Her life hasn’t stopped yet, so why tell anyone? She can still handle it.
Now this is just me half venting half interpreting the song, but yay you have finished reading this!!! Yippie

IM LATE BUT I LOVE THIS SONG WHEN IT FIRST CAME OUT and is still listening to this day but i wanted to know what other people think about the meaning so i came here and im suprised not a lot of people think of self harm like i did so heres my theory or my personal interpretation: strong tw for suicide and sh
so we have miku whos depressed and i think this song is trying to convince herself to take her own life but shes scared of the pain that (assuming) cutting her wrist might bring. and slitting of ones wrist is one of the least effective ways to end your life and if you did manage to cut a vein, its gonna be very painful because of how slowly youll bleed out. the line "why do you hesitate to bleed and suffer" made me think of that and "you burn red, red" reminds me when i used to sh before, the cuts on your skin feels stinging almost like a burning sensation. The "enemy" in question is maybe her fear of dying (?) cuz obviously shes very tired from living and maybe if she keeps slashing (sh), it will get rid of the "enemy". and the songs ends with "it hasnt ended yet, has it? your life!" meaning that she failed attempting of suicide.
idk maybe i projected myself too much into this interpretation and i might be very wrong with this but oh well. and sorry for the very dark comment jsdhkasjdkjahd

I personally think of it as a song about cancel culture, desperately trying to fit into this perfect view and investing yourself into this view of how no one is. just as how every song of his is a twisted love song, this is about love for passion and how you can get torn down for those passions.
not from the perspective of someone inside it, but from an outsider who dearly misses it. almost like maretu talking about their old perspective from when they left and growing to be beyond it.
2:06 this pary is essentially talking about the anonymous watchers who encourage the rumors and drama. about how their digital bodys grow larger and more unseen. a sort of boogeyman tale for children and those children happen to be anyone who steps out of line only for that monster to be killed by another bigger crueler monster. a social expirement that spares no one.

    Here's my theory:
The story comes with two characters..., a pessimist & a corrupted Optimist. In this song, it talks about the Mockery of the corrupted Optimistic being ignorant & neglectful since this is the perspective of the pessimist which is the victim & at the second part of the song where showcase & recall the "incident" at quote 2:00 "Don't you know they only laugh, and steal all your treasures" "they're fat & swollen bodies, are miserably left forever" "Let's stop & think why we should regret the future they'd ended" which implies familiar lines from CoinLockerBaby basically this is the aftermath & possibly the pessimist wanting revenge cus this "optimist" has some sort of power that's helding this victim "You've only had just one wished, yet you couldn't protect it yet you've abandoned it & it got stolen" saying if this victim knew what was their abuser was when they first met, then they could have prevented this to happen. The 1st chorus is where the corrupted Optimist mocking the pessimist while the 2nd is the pessimist since they've found someone else who treats them more healthier than their abuser thus, this is where the victim finally feels safe since they've found someone who's actually nice to them "days & months shall pass & these can't heal you" implies where the victim convince the abuser that this type of "incident" will scar them for life & it's a crime "your thoughts have awoken" Hinting they're starting to feel guilt "your life hasn't ended yet, right?" Saying that they'll confess for their sins & staying on that role & run away escaping this unsolved disaster they've committed.

okay so this is the second translation I've found for this song and i still consider the first one that i found a bit better since it makes much more sense in terms of making a theory as it isn't interpreted as a metaphor.
While the other translation leans more towards self resentment and fear of death this one's use of abstract language and how it mentions the victim being alive out of complete spite and desire to take revenge instead makes me lean strongly towards the other one in terms of being able to make a theory. Some things the two translations do have in common though is having the victim take revenge in one way or the other and of course, suicidal thoughts.

my theory is very far fetched but im putting my own personal take on it and using what maretu’s songs mean to me:)
so TW// mentions of r*pe SA and scrumize!
so personally i feel like this could connect to scrumize and suji! this is the victim talking about wanting to hurt the abuser in suji. those two songs hold a lot of meaning to me and helped me be able to feel some connection through a very rough time and namida is very liberating almost. like the victim is able to get over their feelings of guilt for leaving their abuser and finally have solid anger against them if that makes sense

    Ooo, I got one!
Okay, so the theory that all of Maretu's songs are connected? That might actually work!
I believe, this one in particular, is related to Suji, Scrutinize, Magical Doctor, Koukatsu, and White Happy.
So, the traumatized girl (the victim in Suji and Scrutinize) goes to on to become the narrator of Magical Doctor, and prematurely passed away (she overdoses on the "magical mushrooms"), unable to move on from the memory of the person who raped her.
(I imagine that the person groomed her, and used to call her "Princess." After the memory, she says "I can't be a princess anymore. I can't get rid of the scars,")
This song is a prequel to Magical Doctor, in her attempts to move on, her mind tortures her. Trying to get her to see the world pessimistically, and eventually off herself. It worked, as evident by the last line, "Your thoughts have awakened."
But how does this connect to White Happy? The girl was was convinced into sex. At first, she thought it was brainwashing. But she wanted to keep her relationship with the person. So she said they could take her "first place prize" (Prize is like treasure, and one of the lyrics says "Your failed to protect your treasures".)

some people argue about either this song sequel to white happy or magical doctor
from my perspective it's sequel to both
both of the song started with happy vibe and change in out of blue
and this song are related to white happy in lyrics while it's related to magical doctor on the title "namida"
im bad at breakdown the meaning on song so I'm waiting for smartest one

Huge hatoful boyfriend spoilers yes really.
Of course this is not the intended meaning of the song by far but this song reminds me of Hitori and Kazuaki’s friendship a lot. Like Hitori criticizing how Kazuaki gives up on life talks about wanting to die but never going through with it while Hitori also depressed has something he wants to get done before he dies. (Revenge on the man who caused his brother’s suicide)
Hitori chastising him and eventually convincing Kazuaki into a double suicide. Only to lie and not take the pills leaving Kazuaki to die alone so he can steal his identity.
This song really reminds me of them especially from Hitori’s pov

    Coming back to this comment--
My take on the song is that the singer's partner(not necessarily romantic) had their spirits crushed by a group or person, and became a hopeless pessimist.
The singer is devastated, and trying to reinvigorate their partner's spirits while trying to fight.
The "Don't get in my way" (other translation of "Don't bother me"), as some JP people speculated in the OG vid's comments, might be the singer trembling, tearing up, [because of what the enemy did to their partner? or self-conflict] And they're possibly trying to ignore the tears building up, to stay strong, and fight back for their partner.
Also, in the OG video, the last "kill" in "We have to kill the enemy." grows red, suggesting how the singer might be losing sense, and too caught up on revenge.
That's all I have to add after coming back 10 months later, for my theory.
    -
I'd say there's a moderate chance this one isn't meant to be related to Magical Doctor. 涙 is probably the one word for tears, and Maretu has used it several times before in their songs.
In Magical Doctor, the singer chants N-a-m-i-d-a because their life's been wrecked by their drug addiction and they can never go back to being that princess they were. Like they can't be happy anymore, or something? It's been a while since I last saw the song--
And White Happy, I also won't be taking that song into account. I think this is another pessimist, that isn't the same as WH's.
I don't know who the singer is talking to, as in whether it's theirself or someone else real or whatever--
But it seems to be about someone that's getting beaten up, yet they never die, or fall, or succumb. They keep standing, despite everything coming at them.
There's a chance this person also doesn't cry or scream or show much or any pain, because the singer is frustrated about this.
The singer seems to possibly be breaking, in some way, because of everything happening. The singer mentions this group of people that steal things, treasures-- probably some sort of metaphor?
That group laughed at, at least, the singer and the person they sing to, and wounded at least the person sung to. The people of the group soon either rotted and died from disease, got killed, or left and/or is still alive.
The group probably hurt more people than just these two, based on the line about the future they ended. That, or the singer wholeheartedly values both of their lives and their future.
The one the singer sings to, which I'll just call their partner, used to be bright and friendly. But then that group wounded them, their life went into a decline.
The singer, still with them, is devastated by this-- They might be wanting revenge on that group, for damaging the partner.
But at the same time, they also seem a bit frustrated with the now-broken partner. Watching the other getting beat up, possibly not even fighting back, no longer the happy person they once were...
Even at the end of the song, I believe the partner does not die. Not that they're immortal or anything, but rather that this song is just about the singer and their partner's current states. At the moment, the partner has been broken and is wounded, but still isn't dead yet. _Maybe_ the singer dies at the end of the song, but I really doubt that. But the end of the song is likely not the end of either of their lives.
    -
Uh, this was meant to be a bit more of a casual analysis, but, that was kinda fun. I really like the lyrics, and it feels pretty unique from some of the other songs. The part of the song about these people laughing, stealing treasures, and being left alone- as well as ending this future the singer and their partner had--
That part of the song really contributed to my analysis.
Also, the part about having to kill the enemy; The enemy should be that person or group that wounded the two. The singer possibly wishes their partner would fight back, and/or is trying to do it theirself.
Singer seems pretty conflicted in reaction to the broken partner. Anyway--
That's my enthusiastic two cents on the song meaning n stuff. The story is a bit more clear than I thought it'd be. This was fun! I'll go back to enjoying the song now. ^^

Oh-- I just reread my comment after posting, and, I can't edit on mobile, but--
After analysing the song, I don't think the singer is a pessimist! They're just frustrated by everything. Their partner MIGHT have become one. Or the partner has just, lost their light. Dunno. But yea.

    • @Detective.Horonigai
      @Detective.Horonigai 2 роки тому

After rereading some of the lyrics again, part of my theory seems insufficient.
The singer specifically says the partner abandoned their happiness-- specifically their "sincerity".
Perhaps, after the "enemy" attacked, the partner left behind their once-open mind, either hiding things from the singer, or lying-- or maybe just not being convincing?
Oh, it looks like it could be that, before the enemy came, the partner was possibly sincere and open with the singer. During the wounding, the partner lost most of this sincerity, but they still had some left afterwards.
But then, it wasn't very long before they gave that up, too.
Of course, the singer is probably frustrated by this, too.
Uh, anyway, yeah, hope that's the last reply edit.
