- Alright guys, here's another Maretu song. I have to be honest. I was conflicted about whether I should upload this song or not. I do not like the tone, lyrics or the actual song at all. I'm purely uploading it because I know people want to listen to his songs. So while I did translate it, or I tried at least, please don't think I agree with anything that this song is saying. I'm also sorry if I somehow missed the meaning, as it's up to interpretation but I believe it's decently clear. So I'm uploading it for all of you to decide.
That being said, even if this song doesn't agree with you don't disown him as an artist. He makes great dark songs, and everyone is bound to go too far or mess up somehow. But that's all subjective. Anyway, I hope you can enjoy this song. I personally didn't.

i think the "what the hell" says exactly what the creator was trying to say.
he is shedding light on this subject not because he feels this way, but rather strongly abhors it and it disgusts him. this also conveys his confusion about why this even exists.

the last lyric "笑い飛ばしたい" is translated incorrectly. It does not mean "I want to laugh at you", but more of "laughing away the subject matter", treating child molestation as a joke. I don't know how to describe it in English but it is basically the guy saying "I am just kidding, it's not really rape"

okay okay yes obviously these lyrics are incredibly dark and disturbing but so are most of maretu's songs, so do people think maretu wrote this song about himself/his desires or something? no, this song is obviously from the point of view of a really messed up and practically psychopathic person and i personally find it interesting and creative, considering most songs of this nature are from the victim's point of view. so i really don't understand why people are freaking out about the lyrics so much??

honestly, this song makes me sick, as a victim. things like this can trigger really bad memories for someone without a proper warning. its not that people cant handle reality, its that its just.... gross, imo. im perfectly fine with listening to it (after a while, at least. when i first listened to it, it put me in a pretty bad state.) but some people wont be able to. its perfectly fine not to like a song about a really touchy, triggering subject. especially if youve been a victim of what its talking about.
Well, the thing is that the insulters never stop to think for a second that there's a possibility that he himself was a victim...Really, if this is what most of his songs are about, there's a possibility that he himself went through those things.
Personally I think the unsettling tone of this song is supposed to invoke a feeling of uneasiness and scared-ness from the listener, just as a victim would when thinking about their abuser, since this song seems to be from the POV of the abuser.

As a CSA survivor I stand against the people who dislike this song. I think it’s a really good explanation of how someone might picture their abuser, and it gives eyes into the dark reality. It helps me cope with my past as well as makes me feel less alone.

As far as "going too far" goes, I really don't think that exploring heavier and darker themes makes Maretu an abuse apologist or even a bad person. He was just trying to write a disturbing yet accurate song about how abusers feel during these situations, and I personally think he did an excellent job. The conflict of the narrator's thought process is really interesting and I personally love the fast pace. If you don't like disturbing songs personally or just have a sore spot for these stories, be my guest, but he really wasn't going too far with anything.
I think if someone is trying to make a song and puts pedophiles/abusers in a good light it wouldn't sound creepy. They'd try to make it sound nice and romantic, good, or at least try to make it sound good, like how they view the situation. But here maretu seems like they are PURPOSEFULLY making the song sound creepy and disgusting BECAUSE IT IS. They're putting emphasis on the fact that this is disturbing and wrong, and you should hate, or at least not trust these people. It's how an artist showcases a subject shows how they feel about it, and showcasing pedophilies in a creepy, horror song I think should show how maretu feels about pedophilia (creepy and horrific).

i love the way starting from 1:48 maretu makes everything feel so sinister, almost as if hes purposely trying to make the listener feel sick or scared. its so genius.

Personally speaking you have every right to feel uncomfortable with this song, it heavily implies pedophilia and rape. If it makes you feel unsafe then this song isn't for you. You shouldn't feel pressured to like it.
That being said I don't necessarily think that MARETU made this song as a way to air out any ~desires~ they had, but rather venting (as a csa survivor maybe?) and putting their own experiences in a different perspective. If that's the case then yeah we shouldn't be criticizing them about it.

There are a lot of people criticizing this song for its lyrics, but did they feel that way about, say, monopoisoner? No, because it was part of a story that was being told through that song and two other songs. It's the same deal with Suji, it's bridge is from the ending of Scrumize.

i mean,, a few months ago, maretu's ex revealed (for lack of a better term) that he cheated on her with someone that was underage (however it was mentioned that the person was above 18, as underage in japan is under 20)

Well, interestingly, it was Maretu who made an apology for cheating on his then-girlfriend with a minor before the girlfriend revealed that the minor was above 18 (meaning 19). The thing that disturbs me wasn't quite the age since 19 is considered an adult in most countries but the fact that the minor has a serious mental disorder. I don't know what kind of disorder it is but I just hope that Maretu didn't take advantage of the minor because of the disorder or vice-versa.

it’s an unflinchingly realistic, gritty, and disgusting view into the reality of someone who suffered/survived SA and it’s a really artful way to showcase how someone feels so deeply conflicted that they want to make someone feel like how they did.

I first heard this song when I was 15, I didn't understand the lyrics at all. Years later, I decided to revisit some MARETU songs despite not liking the guy anymore, and now I finally get them and it makes me feel really uncomfortable... Especially because back in those days I was friends with a guy a year or two younger than me who was dating a manipulative adult.
Edit: Coming back to this song and I've realized that "suji" is also a slang word for women's genitalia, namely the "slit" or however you may call it. That coupled with the image that looks like a hand spreading something open 😬

Its okay to feel uncomfortable with the song, but their whole style is talking about real world issues. If you feel "aw damn that's terrible, who the fuck really likes doing this shit" by listening to the lyrics, good, that's the intention.

I personally don't know what is "bad" with this song. The lyrics are so dark and fucked up, but Maretu is used to criticize love's aspects, so a song like that should have been "excepted". Because that is also a love aspect. I personally see it as a continuation of Scrumize, but with the guy's POV. In Scrumize I think it was a girl who was forced to do things she didn't want but didn't want to betray expectations.With this song I'm convinced that it was her boyfriend sort of "bullying her". He killed her or she committed suicide. But he still "wants" her and that is what this song is all about. This is a psycho's POV so of course it's fucked up.

I think people are missing the point of MARETUs style of music, It's horror based, Its supposed to be disturbing and eerie, the subjects and content of all his songs either come from a victim or a predator, this one is no different, However it tackles a very personal subject to many. It confuses me though because all of Maretus songs are about taboo subjects like this one.
Mind brand is about sexual abuse(rape) and other abuse their partener or someone did to them, White happy is about also sexual abuse, Scrumize sounds almost really close to Suji except its the victim POV. For alot of people who have triggers like these should not be listening to maretu, it will make you uncomfortable and that is the point of these songs, if they dont unsettle yoy atleast a bit. You have got it wrong.
Me personally, I think thats what makes him a genius, he is incorporating real disturbing scenarios into music but also that music just happens to sound extremely good. I think the disturbing taboo factor is what makes his music good.

i can completely understand your discomfort translating this as a victim of child sexual abuse myself (i dont think id be able to do this even as someone currently learning japanese), but i honestly believe that when maretu writes these songs from the standpoint of an abuser theyre NEVER from his own standpoint. i actually think he might write about his own experiences sometimes, but maybe because his songs about victimhood resonate so much with me.
again as a csa victim i think the topics maretu writes about are extremely important for us as a society to remember exist and not erase, and i think it was good that you translated this as it has obviously sparked a lot of constructive discussion about sexual abuse and pedophilia

Personally, I do appreciate the dark mood that maretu has accomplished creating through this song. Almost like when I appreciate a really dark horror film. But I absolutely understand the lines being crossed morally and what not. I think the worst song for me as far as Vocaloid songs go was "I'm Sorry, I'm Sorry" (Kikuo is a master but creates some creepy stuff), once I read the translation I felt sick to my stomach. But then, there's several ways to interpret the artists' meaning from the lyrics. I usually end up still enjoying most of these songs just because I appreciate what depth of emotions it paints. Also, they happen to be catchy... but it doesn't mean I agree or follow with it's meanings, like you said.

I think this is hands down Maretu’s best work. The perspective and lyrics are spot on and overall the sound really frantic and unsettling which fitting for the subject.
Those lyrics are so gritty. People don't usually write songs from this perspective... I think it makes the song more interesting. And it sounds great. Thanks for translating!
I love Maretus songs they talk about problems that people normally would ignore but Maretu basically makes you look at it. You obviously dont have to agree with the song to like it because that's not why Maretu made it. I think the "WHAT THE HELL" just further proves that Maretu greatly hates these things.
For people saying that they feel guilty for liking the song and that they feel like they should not sing along, think of it as a normal song and vibe, I understand it's a hard song and it talks about terrible things, but so do some songs in english talking about depresssion and people use it as memes, the same thing could be in this case (not a meme, but just a song to vibe to) so don't feel guilty becouse you're not harming anyone by vibing to this song.

When you look at the songs in order, it basically details a girl's life. I think that whilst this individual is older, it's in fact more or less about an abusive boyfriend who took advantage of the girl in question; Perhaps he's around her age. He's looking to ''become adults'' together, indicating he himself is young as well and has pressured her into having sex with him (the upbeat and fast music pushes this narrative imo). ''childish face'' ''innocent body'' gives me more the sense that he's not looking at a kid but at an inexperienced and vulnerable girl to take advantage of. He could actually be far older than her though, but it's what I'm getting from the song.
Like always, great work from Maretu. Thanks for translating this one, as I fell in love with it the moment I heard it last night & was dying to read a translation. I actually liked the lyrics. Theres such a contrast between this and his other songs, where somebody is usually wronging him. Perhaps those experiences hardened the guy, making him treat others the way that he was treated. Either way, love the song.

When I was younger I used to be in this discord server, and I made a few friends who I thought were my age. They weren’t. They were child predators. They started syaing really gross things to me and threatened to hurt me if I unfriended or blocked them, (I hadn’t given out any information I was just scared they could), so I settled by figuring out a fucked up way to make them block me instead. I just acted more disgusting than them, and that seemed to do the trick.

People call this song disturbing, but if you listen to modern American rap, a lot of it is about murder, drugs, prostitution, sexism, violence, rape, etc... I'm not hating on rap or anything (I'm rather fond of it), just making a statement. If you don't like these topics, then steer clear of this particular artist. It's not for everyone :)

Thank you for saying this, people tend to just claim that producers are supporting these things when they talk about it. I'm a victim too, and I use Gomenne and this song to cope too. Everyone is different, and while this song is triggering to some, it isn't to everyone. I do think Maretu should've put a TW, though all their songs are pretty dark so I knew this one would be as well
I personally really like this song, i think its his best since Mind Brand. The lyrics are quite disturbing though. (also theres one bit that sounds like one of his old songs, Atashi Baito www) Thank you for translating and uploading even though you feel that way about it!

every time i see a maretu song being branded as a certain thing i HATE IT because you guys are completely missing the details and taking everything literally. yes this song can be interpreted in a pedophilic way but it also can be understood as a toxic partner that wants to break the other person in the relationship, or as an abuser pressuring them to have sex.

There's a degree of perspective/introspect one can gain from that, even if it's not an entirely enjoyable experience, and that alone makes it worth it -- that's also why artists create media like this in the first place, when it comes down to it.
It's very easy, however, to simply dismiss things we're not comfortable with, and unfortunately that's a massive problem in our culture right now -- a culture of trigger warnings and safe spaces, of people afraid to be exposed to things that make them uncomfortable or hurt their feelings. I'm pretty certain it's a POV switch/Prequel to Scrumize, it's not too hard to tell. A part from Scrumize is featured in this, and the lyrics sync up perfectly with it! It's quite obvious a story is being told through Maretu's series of songs. Even so, the lyrics really aren't even that bad? I may just be desensitized but there is plenty of worse stuff out there, plenty. Eg, I'm Sorry, I'm Sorry. So there's honestly not much to fret about? This song is a bit more lacklustre for me than Maretu's other works but it's still not bad and fitting.
Now that I think about it, it's perfectly obvious this song is linked to Scrumize..this is still a great song though

I haven't seen anybody point this out yet, but there are many songs in the connection, with the most obvious being scrumize. That is 2. A lesser known connection but still acknowledged is koukatsu, that I don't really understand the meaning to. That is 3. That's most of them right? Well there's another, possibly 2 or more. In suji, if you look at the northwest area of the art, the upside down words read "eye have you" for those who do not know, this is a song in the fried eye album. I don't know how this ties into the story though, and maybe it doesn't. The song is only melody, no lyrics. I heard there was another song hidden in scrumize's art, but I couldn't find it.

Honestly don’t feel bad for liking this song, it’s not talking about maretu’s personal desires it’s talking about something they went through or a storyline idea, the purpose of this song talks about something horrible and they probably had to go through.
I have a question: How did we come to the consclusion that the abuser is a pedophile? While it's true that the victim is a child -or a teen, maybe-, i haven't seen anything that suggested that the abuser wasn't a child. He even says "our innocence", which *can* mean that he is a child too. I'm confused.
“Childish face” and the heavy emphasis on how the love itself is grotesque. The is repeatedly stating they are the worst and they know it’s bad. I agree that this can be any abuser in general, but the attitude and tone of the song overall fits a pedophile but this still can be applied to abusers who think like this in general.

One thing I've noticed about Maretu's music is that bad people like bullies and abusers are portrayed through more typical Vocarock or idol-like music while the victims are portrayed through more of Maretu's usual style. Taste of Cockroach shows this really well.

I understand your hesitation and since the themes of this song are very dark it's completely fine to be uncomfortable. However, like many vocaloid songs, this song is sung from the perspective of an evil character.
Think about this: Stephen King's story "Morning Deliveries (Milkman part one)". The character in it is actively murdering people but that does not mean that Stephen King is a murder or wants to murder.
OOH the song "Scrumize" leads into this song right? This gives me a completely different interpretation. At first I thought it was pedophilia, but after reading the translation from Scrumize it sounds like it started off as I sort of mutual sinful relationship, there could have been an age gap though, it sounds like the first person was younger and more naive of what they were getting into. I think the first person from Scrumize regrets what the situation came to or something, but by then it's too late to escape from the person in "Suji".

I applaud you for uploading this, since you said that you don't feel comfortable with it. Honestly, I love Maretu and other dark producers and dark subjects, but the lyrics are a bit much, even for me. Although, I don't think that he went to far with this song. All of his fans know that his songs cover dark subjects, usually abusive or unhealthy relationships. Before anybody says anything about this being Maretu’s desire because of the drama he faced, I don’t agree with that statement. The song speaks in a way that a pedophile might view a child. Talking in a very sexual manner, sexual is the key word. The song talks about touching and the name being a women’s genitalia makes the song seem very sexual. Maretu is a hyposexual. In his recent tweets he’s been suffering from depression which caused him to lack desires of sex in the last 10 years, even if Maretu did like young girls it would most likely not be in a sexual way.
The name being a reference to genitalia? "Suji" means "Muscles" as far as I'm concerned (I'm not concerned at all)
