Those free cam views make me realize that things in the Outer Wilds universe are actually a good deal bigger than I previously imagined, seeing them in just first person... And not just in the DLC -- Like it's only recently I realized that the gravity crystals are almost as tall as we are!
Imagine spending all of your resources and immense time developing a virtual world for you and your species to chill in, only for some blue looking thing to come in and literally glitch out the simulation and crash it.
For your next one, can you check out the two different ‘Death’ Animations when the Owlks catch you in 3rd Person? Doubt there’s much of an Animation present, but I think it’s still worth looking into.
Also, what about showing what happens when you are caught by an Owlk without your artifact, with the artifact still in radius? Like the neck breaking animation without the matrix vision
@@atkvin yup, I once died to a owl without the artifact to test what would happened and he does the same animation of breaking your neck in the matrix but still with the textures.
I dunno if it's been patched, but last time I played I could force the Stranger to stay loaded as I left the cloaking field by leaving a scout on the dam as it degraded. Cool to see the Stranger in scale with the rest of the solar system.
So THAT'S what the Tower panels are for! That's awesome, I always wondered what it meant since it wasn't used in any puzzles, and knowing Mobius I knew it had to mean something. Great catch.
TD;DR: Stumbled on a cool way to view the inside of the stranger from the outside. Hey! I'm not sure if this has been patched. But I remember on my first playthrough when I tried to go to the 1st map projection location. To find the burned reels, the land got flooded and the gate behind the threes closed. However you could just walk through this gate (there were no collisions) and the area isn't properly loaded so you can fall down. If you fall down without clipping back into the level you can fall out of the stranger. however the inside of the ship stays loaded so you can view it from the outside (which was a really cool sight in my opinion) Also you had infinite air. I'd have posted a picture of the view i had. But links don't seem to work here.
I was just watching my friend play the DLC on a ps4 and the ship appeared in the Endless Canyon! I'm guessing since on that run he crashed the ship into the Stranger, went inside the hangar without it, and let it drift away while going into the Endless Canyon it might have had time to drift into the loaded in dreamworld. It was pretty surreal seeing the red blinking light of the ship's master alarm through the trees while he was walking back to the other side of the big bridge.
Hey, I'm the creator of the third person camera mod, really cool seeing it here! I've been making a few updates here and there and right now you can actually look around 360 degrees while in third person in the ship and while just walking around by holding the free look button (I think its down on the dpad by default and alt on the keyboard). You can also try out using the Nomai projection pools now since I just got those working in 3rd person. I'd be interested in hearing any feedback on the mod that you might have! I also have some footage of how I went about making it that I'll eventually put on my channel if anybody is interested.
Hey! Thanks for reachiing out and creating the mod! Its awesome! Im sure Ill get a lot of good use of it! Any chance you are able to make it so the camera sticks wherever you leave it? Instead of having it snap back to behind the character? I know it makes little sense from a gameplay viewpoint but itd be invaluable to me.
And it's done, I made it as a separate mod because it works on its own. Just position your camera however you want (can be the regular camera or the third person camera, it might even work with FreeCam actually) and press B to switch to a static camera that will stay in that place, and then you can walk around in front of it and do whatever you want. It tries to orient the camera relative to what you are standing on or the planet you are orbiting, so it can get weird if you're out in space (it tries to orient you relative to the sun's surface). I'm going to put it on the ModLoader but for now you can get it here: github.com/NicholasConnors/outer-wilds-static-camera
@@xen-42 hmmm. Thatll be useful too. Ill see what I can do with that. But Im sorry. I mustve worded it wrong. I just meant have it stay in that location relative to the player instead of returning to the back. So if I free looked over to the left side of my character, the camera would stay there and follow them from that angle. So in other words still having it follow the player. Just while looking at them from the front or side. Even if you cant do that I really appreciate it though bud! This will still be awesome! Thank you so much!
I just finished echoes of the eye, and finding your channel is one of the best things to happen right after finishing the entire game finally. your videos give a perfect closure after completing it. Keep up the good work man
I started out not wanting to fly my ship with my suit on and only put it on before I exit the ship. By the time I finally got to the end It was instant reflex to put it on the moment I got in the ship, because it really sucks having you ship break apart and you're screwed lol
The dream world still being loaded could be caused if you left your scout, or ship there. And I have experienced the bug of being rapidly teleported into your ship in no clip. I have found it can be fixed by enabling collision exiting the ship and going back to no clip.
Yeah, I think the rapid teleport glitch is specifically when it's trying to tie your character to the pilot's seat, but you keep falling through because no-clip.
@@MurderWho I'm would think that to but it happens when you are standing in the ship not in the seat. When you try to teleport the player out of the pilot's seat, or a Hearthen elevator the game moves you back along a straight line instead of teleporting them. I think it has something to do with the ships gravity zone. When you no clip out of the ship you still feel it's artificial gravity.
Dont get me wrong, but ur voice is very soothing and it helps fall asleep and wake up in a simulation. Thank you so much for the content. Really appreciate it.
Your videos are relaxing and interesting. Also it was hilarious to see that I have a namesake that supports your channel. Maybe I should too just to troll people. Seriously though, nice videos!
There is a possibility that the inhabitants will live forever, at least the ones who don’t die from the flood. Outside the range of all the supernovae the stranger will just drift through empty space and maybe even enter the next universe. And the next, until someone finds them which is very unlikely to just stumble upon a invisible object drifting through interstellar space
For some reason unknown, I thought we were in a Owlk body, when in the Secret World. (maybe because we're required to jump, and the lack of light make us seem bigger ? I don't know) So, I was surprise to see our dear little hearthian body, in your third person sight. I guess there's surprises even when there's not supposed to be. xD
8:20 sequence is something one should make computer wallpapers about. Then let his/her friends who played Echoes of the Eyes in front of it, unattended. And wait for the : "Wait a minute.... how did you....? what the fuck.. ? How did you get your ship into the Stranger ?!?"
hey The Lore Explorer, i think i have a theory as to what the reel scanning devices were, i think they were used to scan all the reels to be added to the simulation because it would take to long to add them manually so they made a machine to scan them and add them directly, just a theory but its what makes sense IMO
Thats something the game shows us to be true in reels. If you didnt notice that then that was good reasoning bud. Though I suppose you did notice because you start with "I think I know what the reel scanning devices were!...Reel scanning devices!" There is no way to bring physical things into the sim as far as we know. They had to scan them
Now fly the ship in the dream world with lights on! XD - I'd really love to see the dream world with LIGHTS. I'd love to see an aerial shot of each dream world 'city' with the lights on. would really help understand/get your bearings, being able to see it all at once.
I've noticed that in my game (steam) once the dam breaks, one of the docking bay gets flooded too. I never see water in it, but my character moves as though in water.
Ha! This one was especially fun. I'm curious, have you ever looked inside the Starlit Cove tower's hidden room (dream equivalent of the codes room)? The geometry for it is all there as far as I could tell -- I wonder if the devs left anything inside.
OOOOOOOOOOOOOF Would you concider the Owlks less scary in 3rd person? Or mabey you've gotten used to them somehow ehe Also, is it ever explained why the controls for the bell are broken? Was it on purpose or by accident? Looks like there are canisters next to it so mabey one just blew :/
Honestly I was never really afraid of them. For a few different reasons. For one its a game and my imagination is weak. And two. Outer Wilds is a timeloop. No matter what they do Ill be fine 22 minutes ago! Anyway, about the diving bell. Its not explained but it can be inferred. Its probably purposeful. They probably burned the controls at the same time they burned the codes designed to release the prisoner. Im not sure the reason though because the bell can be entered and exited even while submerged.
Just a random suggestion, but could you find a way to no clip into the prisoners vault without the lantern? I really want to see if the entire scene can be seen in the glitch view. Thanks!
I have a question, can you do it to Torio on how to get to the middle of the ring of the stranger of how you did it in that one video where you went to the Tallest tree and then you flew up to the artificial sun? i’ve just been trying for a long time now and I still cannot get it.
I turned of all the candles on the raft in the simulation while i was going through the loading areas/dark tunnels that lead you between the different main places of importance in the dream world. Once i turned of the candles and concealed my flame the game went completely dark and i got randomly teleported out in space about 16 kilometers away from the stranger. Is this a glitch or has anyone else experienced it?
The raft disappears when you blow out all of the candles and you usually fall below the dream world. So it going dark and all that was normal. The dream world loads in near the solar system while the stranger starts moving away so that’s sort of normal too. But you must’ve glitched pay below the dream world and just plopped outside the dream worlds load zone. Leaving you near our solar system.
teleporting yourself to parts of the world that are not loaded (because you never walked through loading trigger) isn't a glitch. That is you destroying the game
