This is great. Your guides just make me want to throw away all my sound libraries and make my own. An easy and creative approach to sound design. Thanks!
Thank you so much David for this extensive and varied tutorial with good sounding results ! One of the best guides on UI-Sounds I could find on UA-cam !
Thanks for sharing! Have you ever made a video where you talk about the character of a sfx and the choice of sounds to accomplish this? Like if you have a bunch of spells from different magic schools where you want to make them all unique but still have similar elements that connect them to their respective school.
Loving this! I hope there are more extensive guides coming, covering other problematic areas of sound design, and overall approach towards dealing with creative hurdles :)
@@daviddumaisaudio I'd love to see an in depth video discussing different approaches of foley for body movement. Especially if it goes into stuff like different armour types (medieval, futuristic such as Halo etc)
@@daviddumaisaudio You could do a spin (even shorter one, based on this guide) on Medieval/Fantasy stylized UI or overall talk-through about differences between these two themes. Aaaaaaand I'll always be hungry for more monster/creature design videos, as this topic is my personal bottomless pit of creativity (or hopelessness, depends if things go as planned or not). Anyway - keep it up with quality content as usual for us, noobs ^^
@@daviddumaisaudio bonus points if it goes into detail of how it can change inside of an audio engine dependent on character state. Yknow health, stamina level etc :)
Thanks for the super cool tutorials! Anyone knows what is that script displaying the waveform live in the top toolbar? It's fancy! Is there anything like this that would display a spectral analyser?
It’s the Global Sampler by BirdBird. It’s free for Reaper here: forum.cockos.com/showthread.php?p=2506514 If you use any other DAW, you can purchase a VST version here: www.birdsthings.com/
Hi David, thank for your great tutorial, but something is confusing me.. A FM synthesizer is to modulate the frequency of the carrier, is it? If we modulate the phase of the carrier, that's called PM(phase modulate) i guess. I am not sure cause i am only a beginner of sound design, hope we could discuss this question, and thank for your video again :)
I am a totally noob on music production. this video coould be a start? should I research or learn something before jump into this kind of video? My goal is learn how to create tracks for a SCI FI ambient music for my youtube channel. Anyone could give me a light on this? I am kind of lost. Great video BTW, thanks for the clear explanations
Hey, quick question, when I'm trying to drag and drop a sample into phaseplant, nothing is happening, I'm just mooving the sample in the "arrangement view" (with control option keys). Any Idea? Thanks again for your amazing job !

Thanks so much. Glad you enjoyed it!
Very helpful video! Will definitely be trying these techniques out for redesigning some Dead Space Remake clips. Thank You!
You’re welcome!
INSANE video. I hope to see this kind of content again !
We’ll see… :)
Thanks a lot! awesome guide, that made me use synth at last. And it wasn't so scary how I thought

Strange. Yea, I get that sometimes too but for me it does that on Padshop when I try to load a sample. Not sure why though. Sorry.
@@daviddumaisaudio might be because of my settings, normally what is the action name for Ctrl+Alt click ? Thanks mate.
