For me, what makes megalophobia hit the most is when it's an unrealistically large object surrounded by regular sized objects. Its why my favorite parts of this video are when the builds are placed in a regular world. They just look out of place and its unsettling yet fascinating

I feel like a big reason why scale starts to feel like it doesn’t matter when things get too big is because there isn’t something to compare it to. With some cinematography and some tall mountains that look tiny in comparison this could look insanely megalophobic.

Me and my friends started building a sandstone pyramid with a square base of 495x495 blocks after completing a smaller pyramid. We never finished it but we got really close, like at least 3/4 done. It’s just human nature to build a big pyramid.

I ended up giving up a week into it, not accomplishing all that much admittedly but I think you've resparked my interest in that, thank you thrite :]]
A couple of years ago I also tried building a massive 1k blocks x 1k blocks wide building and kinda gave up on it, but after a year or so I picked it up again and completed it and I think it was worth it, so I'd highly encourage you to give your build a second try. If you need any advice, feel free to ask ;)

An underrated feeling- that at least I get- from Megalophobia is the feeling of atomic insignificance, if that makes sense. A lot of the set pieces and planets in the game "Megaton Rainfall" capture this feeling, I believe. Like the city flipper boss, the final boss, or Jupiter. Yes, you can fly to and 'explore' Jupiter. It's f***ing terrifying.

You cannot leave the hell that is the backrooms, cannot escape the mental deterioration of dementia, and cannot do anything against an object so large. It’s like the fear of death. Death is so scary because it lasts forever. Death is inescapable, unstoppable, and HUGE. I’ve died in dreams lots of times and the sensation of dread feels just like megalophobia

I just want to say that I love your editing style, always have ever since I discovered your channel with the first scariest mod series or something I don't remember what it's called exactly. What I also love is how much it has evolved, but has also mantained it's essence. 11:43 fyi you can log out of the world, and then in the select world screen select the world -> edit -> optimize world and check "erased cache data" A part of all this does is restart a lot of the light in the world and this fixes lighting issues of that kind

It's an artistic movement that centers around envoking an emotion of feeling insignificant, yet in awe of that feeling. Normal pretentious art stuff.

I have the same thing, i am not afriad of any tall building, but I am afraid of huge things like ocean, world borders, farland etc, teleporting to a cords just to get jumpscared with something big is eerie for me(cube chunks turning the ocean height limit up to 512 blocks etc)

11:43 fyi you can log out of the world, and then in the select world screen select the world -> edit -> optimize world and check "erased cache data"
A part of all this does is restart a lot of the light in the world and this fixes lighting issues of that kind
