I actually find the wheat field of build 6 scarier than the build, the way it stretches to seemingly infinity is somehow more megalophobic than the arch
Agreed, but for a wildly different reason. The way the wheat just stops immediately at the threshold of the arch is really ominous. Realistically it would grow a little ways inside before not getting enough sunlight, but here it just ends instantly

i think adding small things inside those builds would emphasize their size a lot more, especially with the holes. something to remind you that its huge
Agreed! I thought the wheat one worked well to show scale, but yeah it’d be very helpful to show scale with normal things on these giant structures. Really makes you feel insignificant, which is cool
@@Thr1teI think adding a foggy shader would also significantly help, rather than the buildings just cutting off due to render distance, they look inconceivably large with the fog obscuring rough edges

I feel like a big reason why scale starts to feel like it doesn’t matter when things get too big is because there isn’t something to compare it to. With some cinematography and some tall mountains that look tiny in comparison this could look insanely megalophobic.
Yeah I think so too, like how at 10:35, the tree's give a good since of scale for the pyramid and make it look much larger, in contrast to if it was on a flat world
For me, what makes megalophobia hit the most is when it's an unrealistically large object surrounded by regular sized objects. Its why my favorite parts of this video are when the builds are placed in a regular world. They just look out of place and its unsettling yet fascinating

the last building is actually fire, the way its built upside-down gives it a mystic feel like it defies physics and natural laws its like an ancient monolith in praise of a god whose name was forgotten by time
honestly it was my favorite, it feels like an ancient thing with a purpose lost to time, built by whoever came before. i would LOVE a mod that just adds in this kinda stuff to the game, along with lore and quests to tie in to the builds
It reminded me of something H.P. Lovecraft described: a conical temple worshipping Azathoth, ran by an alien race of insectoid creatures. In my mind it's an inverted cone the size of a city, hollowed out with architecture and sitting in orbit around a planet
the holes were unsettling enough to be megalophobic. And a couple of these, especially that last inverted pyramid, looked like some alien structure touching down
Me and my friends started building a sandstone pyramid with a square base of 495x495 blocks after completing a smaller pyramid. We never finished it but we got really close, like at least 3/4 done. It’s just human nature to build a big pyramid.
