    This is a brilliant solution! I got an expensive 100 foot metal hose last fall and it already has a leak. I had no idea how to fix it until I found your excellent video. Thank you for such clear information and directions. You are a wonderful teacher! I'm a subscriber now. 👏

    This is awesome!! My neighbors put a brand new stainless steel hose on the curb after it started leaking and they didn't want to deal with fixing it. I picked it up and will try this seemingly easy, cheap fix. Thank you so much for posting!

    I bought a 100" Bionic Steel hose for around $60 with a 5-year warranty. After one winter or about 7 months of use, it started leaking. I called the Customer Assistance number provided on the Amazon website, showed them screenshots of the purchase and pictures of the leak, and they sent a new hose. You're welcome to the hose with the leak if you like.

      Warrantee does not cover damage done to the hose by a vehicle or other equipment.

    The bionic line is good, what I learned DO NOT pull it if it's hung up on anything. You can unravel it's outer stainless casing.

    Heat the hose up when u insert the barb fitting next time and it will slide right on and as it cools it will shrink back on and seal tight.thats what I do wit my pool hoses to connect to fittings

    What about putting new ends on? I have the same situation - cut my hose in half with the mower. But I'd like to turn it into two 50' hoses. How would you do that?

    • @fixit9888

      @@RACHELMCCARTY-eu1uz I will be getting rid of about 15 ft of hose, but I guess it would be interesting to try that.

    the pressure from the water will stick cause it to leak at the site where it was cut

      I am going to try to create another video with another coupling method. There are better ways to prevent it from leaks, but the problem is that when we start spending above a certain amount, it makes more sense to just buy a new hose.

    Besides running over with mower how else did hise hold up?

      Thanks for the question.
      Everything is still doing well. As long as you clean the area very well to create a good bonding surface, it should last you a very long time. If I experience any issues with it, I will provide everyone with an update.

    How would you fix one end?

    • @fixit9888
      @fixit9888  Рік тому +1

      I have not worked on the end yet, but it looks like it has a compressed fitting on it. If it came off your hose, you can probably use a hose clamp to tighten the hose to the coupler.

    How do you determine where the leak is?

    • @fixit9888
      @fixit9888  Рік тому +1

      The only thing I can think of right now is to use an air pump on one end and have the other side blocked. Then have someone listen for a hissing sound and that will probably give you a general area. The other possible way is with a thermal camera. I personally do not have one and i have never tried doing it. A thermal camera can probably show you where the water is leaking through by looking at the temperature change when you block one end and you let water in. Thermal cameras are very expensive, but you might be able to find one in a library. I borrowed one once from a local library. If i think of anything else, i will send you a message.

    What if I don't have a heat gun what else can I use

    • @fixit9888
      @fixit9888  2 роки тому +3

      You can also use a hair dryer, burner from stove, lighter, etc. Anything heat source. Just be careful that you don't burn the material and keep a water source near for safety . With any flames you will need to keep a distance and take your time.

    • @fixit9888
      @fixit9888  2 роки тому +2

      Also, clean the surfaces very well and make sure that they are dry before connecting everything so that it creates a good bond.

    IMHO, I don’t believe that this is a quality repair.. that shrink tubing looks like the non glue type from harbor freight. And even if it has glue. It will not be strong enough glue for most municipal water supply pressures. I’d like to see the results in a follow up test video of a repair that actually works under pressure, not just theory. I’m interested because I am repairing my metal hose 🎉Thanks
