Quick question… the shrink tubing that you’re using, is it electrical? I went to the big box stores and all they had was shrink tubing for electrical. In plumbing do they call it something different? Thanks! Great idea

Excellent job. I wonder how you would fix a leak in the middle?

They make a double ended barb fitting. Same principle, just each end of the split is done separate. Hope that helps!

Where did you buy the parts to fix this hose?

Added this update a bit later...
I measured the diameter of the Rosie Earth inner plastic tube and it is not 3/8" or .375". It is actually .393". So from what I see the inner tube is not making a tight enough seal against the barbed coupler. Although the shrink tubing does shrink it is not enough to compress the inner tube more tightly against the barb. To fix I jury rigged 2 hose clamps. One against the inner tube/barb compressing the tube to keep it from leaking under pressure and one against the outer metal tube to keep it in place so the inner tube has the metal outer tube protection to keep it from exploding under pressure. It isn't pretty but it is working. Uhg
    Original update below...
This did not work for me. I used a 3/8" brass barb and 3 to 1 shrink tubing on a Rosy Earth hose. I am getting leaking like the shrink tubing (1/2" is too large). I noticed Bionic Steels inside diameter is 5/8" while Rosy Earth is 5/9". You didn't mention the brand of hose you were repairing or sizes. I'm going to retry with 4 to 1 tubing or see if I can find something slightly smaller. I heard you can lengthwise cut shrink tubing and superglue it to make it smaller but I haven't tried that yet. I can literally pull out the coupling so perhaps my tubing is bad?

Your time isn't worth more than the $5 for a braided stainless steel waterline? Value Maintenance Supply. 1/2", 3/8", and 3/8"comp. Do you try using Band-Aids twice too?
