Role of Restricted protein supplemented by KA diet
Ketoacid analogues and essential amino acids and Very low protein diet in CKD
2 types of proteins. Animal proteins and plant based. Protein with high biological value has all 9 essential amino acids not produced in body , egg milk and rice has more BV than meat and fish. Plant protein is like legumes and lentils have less. But if you combine 2 plant based proteins you can have high biological value protein even if you are vegetarian.
More protein leads to more nitrogenous products , inc K and phosphate, acidosis , BUN and creatinine, uremia and hence fall in GFR so if you use very low protein or no protein ... def of essential AA and these KA has nitrogen replaced where they can act as AA but does not produce nitrogen so theoretically all of the side effects should not happen and GFR should be preserved.
