Good to know the flame level is just-plain preserved. I was worried that it would be reverted to 1 if that original "base" would be deleted, and you would be forced to upgrade all over again.
Thank you for the experiment! i will move the flame now in safety :D
Thanks so much for this explanation. Well done video, you got a new sub :)
thank you for this very detailed explanation. I saw a few others but they said nothing , they just did things and expected me to see it myself lol
thank you for this Beeble
Awesome! Thats exactly what i was looking for the last 30min. Just found stuff about people loosing everything cuz they extinguished the flame and i was asking in my head.. "why didnt you just put up a new one on the desired spot? Should be possible, right?" And then finally your video appeared. Thanks a lot. 🎉
Very helpful video, thanks!
perfect video for the subject. bravo!
Cheers dude. Helpful stuff 👍
Awesome! Thanks TONNES. Even though it should really be movable within a base, this is fine enough
Very helpful, many thanks :)
Thanks for the video!
Easy explanation and short … subbing
Oof. So be VERY sure you want to move your upgraded flame, 'cause you'll lose the shroud core too!
This is exactly what I was wondering. I guess before spending those materials to upgrade the altars you might want to make sure it's the spot you plan to use long term.
Dont need to move it. Just start a new base and only upgrade the original. You get more tham enough alters
@@braydopaintrain4346 Right but why waste materials upgrading an alter you don't plan to even use?
The characters stay from world to world so surely you could just start a new world and defeat the first boss again to get a new shroud core
can't you just recraft a shroud core at the alchemist when you unlock him? It's like 10 shroud spores and 10 shroud liquid
I'm so curious how you were able to get that overhead view looking down?! It would be so helpful for moving the flame altar as well as just getting a clear picture of the global range of build.
Pg up, pg down on your keyboard zooms the camera in and out
But this doesn't explain a build area which is larger than the build area of a new alter. What if the existing flame alter has been upgraded to 160x160x160? Will this work if you upgrade the new flame alter to the same size building area before removing the old alter?
Thank you for the info. I wanted to move mine but wasn't sure what was going to happen and was to far in to loose things.
Mine was level 2 but when I move my alter it reverted to level 1, why? I could not repllace the T2 because it vanished when I tried to pick it up and I did not log out.
I will play this game soon
Very helpful, i was curious about this and i will try this later.
If it wont work, we will see each other in the court becouse i spends a lot of time in build mode 🤣
Perfect, im building a tower and want the altar at the top of it :)
Ok thx that was helpfull since i need to move my damn alter a few inches down
What is actually lost if you remove the altar from the build? So far as I can tell crafted structures don’t disappear. I put some blocks and a bench down then took away the flame to test it and it worked just fine. Just can’t pick up the workbench.
Structures do disappear - but only when you log out/in, the server stops/restarts/crashes or your game crashes.
That is why I advised against just removing and moving the flame, in the off chance this all happens..
You do lose any Altar Upgrades you did - The flame upgrades are saved.
i just have one question i put a flame down in a pre excising little farm land, but the area doesnt reach the entire area. is their a way to extend the range of a flame or do i just have to build 2 in the same place?
can upgrade the size! need to find or craft shroud cores, and to upgrade the flame level.
until then, you can use two altars
Havent played yet but can you fast travel to your bases? was thinking of being cheesy and doing an underground base with no entrance only accessable by fast travel if theres any random event raids or anything like that
I know people have already broke the game physics and created a base in the sky so this is def possible lol
Is there a way to move an upgraded flame a long distance? Or do you just have to start over with the upgrades? My wife and I want to move our Tier 4 Flame to the Necropolis and take that over, but I'm guessing you can't move an upgraded flame. Thanks for any input.
There is a difference between the Flame and the Altar. Upgrading the flame is Permanent, even if you remove all your altars. The Altar upgrades are per Altar. So the only thing you are removing was the upgraded radius of the Altar.
If this makes sense?
@@The-B-Side It does, and you've helped tremendously! I wasn't making the distinction betwee the Flame and the Alter as I should have been. My wife and I are on our way to take over the Necropolis now, thanks to your guidance. Thanks a freakin' ton, brother.
@@The-B-Side /that is right :) so far, (for me), 40x40x40 vs 80x80x80 (level 1 to level 2 alter) is PLENTY of space for me. Granted, some may want to build larger and bigger, but hey.. you do you. Sadly, if you want to move a level 4 alter, then you would need to upgrade it BEFORE logging out.
You upgrade the altar and have a HUGE build area ...
I have a very important question... My altar is level 4. The things i build do not fit in the level 1 40x40 altar. So, how do i move an altar with a higher level than 1 without losing buildings or losing my level 4 altar...
Create a second altar as shown in the video and UPGRADE it to lvl 4 (or whatever area includes and protects all the pre-existing things you want to preserve) BEFORE deleting the original altar...
There's actually no "moving" an existing altar...you just create and delete them.
Once deleted it's gone, and the new altars always start from scratch at lvl 1 40x40x40...you have to enlarge the area again...
It seems a small area within the flame. What is the purpose of this build restriction? Does/Will the flame protect you and your build when enemies attack? Interesting. Thank you for the explanation to moving the flame.
1) Build radius can be enlarged by upgrading the altar, I think current max is 120x120x120 meter.
2) Enemies do not attack your Base (currently).
3) You start of with 2 Flame Altars you can build and can upgrade the amount later.
@@The-B-Side Before I had doors, a wolf tried to eat me inside my house. The base size is just another game mechanic to help players feel like they are progressing as the level up the flame.
yes upgradable, and its a rather large area for a base. that area is a sqaure so 40 blocks in all directions, up , down ,left and right. Its stops enemies spawning in that area or attacking your buildings, also creates a fast tarvel location. You can build 4 flame altars to begin with and increase that number later. I always carry a spare Flame Altar with me to simply place and use as a fast tarvel location to unload when encumbered with loot and upon return simply extiguish flame to free another slot.
@@NotaVampyre111 altar protects you from shroud and shroud creatures. Wolf is not a shroud creature.
@@pillagius I have a question, can we actually build in the shroud? Will the flame keep it out of that small area?
Nao sabia que a base era destruida, ontem perdi parte da cabana da cozinheira junto com um bau cheio de alimentos ;-; agora refiz tudo e estou plantando tudo novamente 😢
At least on a server you can activate saving the environment. So what it does, everything will be saved, whatever you build or destroy.
I havent checked if this can also be activated in singleplayer by using some cheats or so. But maybe it is possible, idk
Aren't you losing the altar upgrades when you remove it? Meaning you put down a lvl 1 altar and you need to re upgrade everything?
As explained at 4:09 - Altar Upgrades are lost - Flame Upgrades are not
Yea, I was afraid of losing shrouded cores when moving upgraded altar. Are they limited to farm in the world?
Shroud cores can be made by Alchemist very easily in your base, using 3 very common ingredients so its no biggy.
Nice, will test it 🐸
2 common items @@michaelvial125
do u keep alter upgrades if remove flame altar (i have altar level 2)
Only Flame upgrades are saved - Altar upgrades are not
Hold up. Im so used to games not letting you place cores next to each other I never thought to do that but now. Guys we can build massive cities if we can place altars next to each other.
do i get my material back?
what if your flame is level 4
Der beste Tipp: Niemals die erste Flamme upgraden, sondern erst einen schönen Platz suchen, nachdem man die Spitze der Hochweiden Warte erreicht hat.
The best tip: Never upgrade the first flame, only look for a nice spot after you have reached the top of the Ancient Spire - Springlands Fast Travel.
how many active alters at once can you have?
Depends on how much you've upgraded the Flame. I'm up to 8 iirc
Ha. I worked this out today.
How many flames/ bases can you have at one time?
You start with 2 flame altars per world - you can upgrade the Flame which gives you more possible altars to build. Currently I have upgraded the altar to maximum 8 Altars.
@@The-B-Side thank you!
I hope they add a move altar button
building radius and world reset really killed my desire to play this game
I wanted to move my flame. It went horribly wrong and I lost my base and all the items I had in storage.
I am assuming you did not follow the steps I shared in the video... lol
@@The-B-Side It happened before I saw the video. Fortunately it'd pretty early in the game so nothing valuable was lost. The worst thing so far was my misadventure at the Elixir well think that's what it was called.
I saw it on the map not too far from where I was so glided over too it and dove down. I went into the opening all the way to the bottom. It was so cool. Then all the critters ganged up on me and I died my first death. After 3 attempts to reclaim my stuff and 3 more deaths, I gave up going back.
Thanks for showing this. I was hoping I could elevate the altar and put it on top of an elevated foundation but the game wouldn't let me.
At least I know I can move it now👍👍
Glad it helped... 😊
You can actually quickly build a temp altar, just build your construction for the Permanent Altar, build it and then remove the other temp one.
But, I have been moving my altar around several times, even after building. 😂
Thank you, I just did that. Now I have my altar in a better spot:)@@The-B-Side
i had 20hours of progress, build a second base at night put all my stuff there , log out, the next day i log in the base is gone whit all my progress :D the first base you have to build was still there..
Did you build this on a server? or just single player?
I did one time make a mistake of extinguishing my flame on an existing base without realizing... just to see what I did later while editing some recordings..
@@The-B-Side single player lol and no i didnt do anything i went to sleep the next day everything was gone
@@lucasetche Well that is painful...
Guess a smart thing to do is now to log in and out after placing a altar and before building.. lol
I have the same problem. In single player game the second flame altar i build disappears after i relog.
This loss of playtime is posted as a known issue on the enshrouded discord where the Devs are asking players to give them their game log files if this happens to them.
Just upgrade the flame and place another one and then remove that one
You can just move it's you build will still be there till the map resets just make sure to actually put another one down lol
But if its a higher level flame.. THEN WHAT?? lol.. I want to move my level 4 flame..
Flame Levels will never be lost... It is only Altar Levels that are lost when removing.
Upgrading Altars is pretty cheap imo.. as you can craft them at the Alchemist with Shroud Spores and Liquid.
But, yeah - It would be great to get refunded when destroying a Upgraded Altar.
Yeah maybe 1/2 of them? that seems fair to me.. Im putting in a suggestion.. You are right I just noticed that.. at least I don't have to upgrade the flame levels.. Thanks !!!@@The-B-Side
It's not moving the altair. You removed old altair to build new one. These things are not the same.
Geez super unhelpful your altar is only level 1, I’m trying to move a level 4 altar…
you have no idea
