    Floating island and cities and castles are well known in the fantasy world.
    And this is a fantasy game... so nothing wrong with a floating mini castle.

      Except they aren't in a purely magical world there is still physics and they didn't intend for you to build without support it's merely a feature they haven't finely tuned yet like in grounded.

      @@grimsgraveyard3598That's possible for sure - I don't mind if they bring in stability, as long as it's done well!

      @@CautiousPancakeThere's stability in 7 Days to Die, which can be fun when you toss TNT about. Sometimes you find a nice location, but the building already in place may not be quite what you prefer, so the quickest way to break it down is blowing up a few supporting walls and beams. I like that.
      On the other hand, as noted above, this is a fantasy world. Perhaps a compromise in the form of floating rocks would be an idea. You want toppling buildings, you build normally. You want magical floating castles, you make special materials, perhaps at an enchanter or something.
      Then again, if the engine doesn't have stability at this point, I'm not sure it would be very easy for the developers to add it in. It sort of has to be built from the ground up for it. It's a whole different beast than the way destruction has worked so far in Enshrouded, unfortunately.

    • @CautiousPancake
      @CautiousPancake  8 місяців тому

      @@unspeakableoaf Yeah, I can't see it (from what I've seen so far) supporting a collapse - explosions are nicely done, but given how digging and everything works, I just can see it - but I'm just some noob playing games :D Either way, no stability works for me in Enshrouded just like how stability in 7 Days works there (mostly :D)

    Enshrouded does some unique things that are not very common, if at all. There is no scaling and you can equip gear above your level, and of course the lack of required stability when building. I hope they never change it, it's a welcome addition to survival games.

      I hadn't thought about the lack of scaling but I know when I hit it and got my butt wiped. And I love that! I like the shroud difficulty possible being set through base upgrades, it's a nice way to also give a bit of warning that the area is not for you yet 😃

      Yeah, that was the trick for this-- although you don't need to either. I like the Minecraft meets Valheim vibe where the building and general gameplay is quite casual but surprisingly deep in term of what's possible. I'd love the addition of some more mechanical components even if we wouldn't get outright turing complete possibilities for making machines and automating stuff. So there being no stability mechanic feels fine to me as it allows us so much freedom in building. If it was more restrictive, we'd really feel it as the block palette is still quite small due to the game being in early access (though there's more than I'd have imagined for an early access title already)

    I did this in a game just for grins and giggles. I built a ramp over a gorge that was enshrouded, from one peak to another peak on the opposite side.
    I wanted to see what the game physics deemed too long of a ramp without support. Apparently support isn't a thing in the game. It was so long it took 40 seconds of flat out running to get from one end to the other. But any part of the structure will disappear once you log out (I play on Steam) unless it's inside the area designated by the flame alters.
    Anyway, It never occurred to me to lay down a large foundation area and build a dwelling on it that would float. Very Cool.

    This game looks impressive so far from the videos you've done. I've not yet played it, mostly cos my PC won't handle it. But the castle is epic. Also, I think the word you're looking for is crenalations.

    Nothing cheaty about it, stability is not a feature of the game so this is good. If it is introduced at a later date, it will only mean you will change your methods which is your party piece anyway lol.

    • @CautiousPancake
      @CautiousPancake  8 місяців тому

      Thanks PJF, I think it will be hard to add stability, unless they've had it working but had to disable for early access launch. But I could be wrong, and then my castle will go squish 🤣

    Love this idea and think I might have to build one in my game now! Is there a limit to the size you can build, and can you have the other characters up there with you such as the blacksmith and the hunter etc?

    • @CautiousPancake
      @CautiousPancake  8 місяців тому +1

      Other characters are no problem, and size is limited to the bounds of your altar, initially 40x40x40. That's upgradeable though or you can overlap multiple if you need to make it huge!

    Keep up the great content. I think stable in some games shouldn't be a thing. I would love 7D2D not to have it but a mechanism that you need to have a way for Zs still to get you.

    • @CautiousPancake
      @CautiousPancake  8 місяців тому +1

      Without stability though you can't bring down a building, and the zombies can't undermine a tower and make you fall. So for 7 days it makes total sense, and for Enshrouded it's not based around building combat, so you're not expecting to bring down a building. So I agree it depends on the game!

    • @TagZ13
      @TagZ13 8 місяців тому

      @@CautiousPancake I know, wouldn't want a floating style base. They will still need a way and if not they could destabilise or destroy like they do, but I feel some of the stability is to much in 7d2d with the 7-11 block tree system.
      Like if you had 1 support and no access they would take that out and collapse it. But the base on that 1 support had no limits.

    • @CautiousPancake
      @CautiousPancake  8 місяців тому +1

      @@TagZ13I know what you mean - plus there's no benefit to doing a brace between a horizontal and vertical. Stability is a tricky thing to simplify so that it's "game" friendly, but at the same time giving enough realism that it's not completely weird.

      That's.... An interesting point 🤔 I mean it *has* food and water and shelter concepts, but they've gone the approach that is positive impacts only. That seems more common these days but it does feel more adventure than survival.
