@@Smokestack82 Noticed this as well but you can still run through as long as you have updraft and double jump! Just double jump deploy glider and updraft and you’ll be fine to cross. Obviously depending on how long you can last in the shroud but I went from 15 minutes to 9ish
The video is made for people who want to do this. Just cause you wanna play the game for 100 hours before you get better stuff doesnt mean everyone does. I watched the video and im playing through without skipping red shroud personally, but some people just dont have as much time to play games as other people and still wanna loot cool stuff and have awsome weapons. The 50 hours some of us can put in to get to that point without skipping in a couple weeks could very well be 6-7 months of play time for someone else who doesnt have as much time to spend playing. Dont hate the guy just for showing how to do something your not gonna do. Video games are to be played however the player wants to do so.
Thank you! I personally don’t understand the gripes. The game is designed so you can either play and progress normally by grinding or go off on some spicy adventure in high level areas and reap big rewards. Play how you want and do what makes you happy -

@@Lemon-hope if you look closely there’s a cut at that part of the video , he places two altars when it’s night and then the video cuts to day where he’s much closer to the sand mountains across , i personally had to place about 6 altars to get to a viable height to reach them after gliding in the latest update . You’ll probably have to do the same
I wish you showed the map more often, only way to track your route is to follow the route, and it took me almost 3 hours just to get where I could be in 15 minutes if I knew the route and destination.

i mainly focus on building so i am really far behind on lvl and gear wise compared to my friends, with this trick i am able to get some items without overdoing it. I managed to follow the video step by step in low motion, and with setting up waypoints along the way i can always find my way again. Really cool because it helps me to catch up with my friends :)
I am sure this video is for some people, but its exactly what i don't want to know early in the game. The discovery of new things and areas in this game is really enjoyable.

Having everything handed to you at the start also ruins the experience for me. Of course this could be helpful if your character got deleted or something. When you get the upgraded glider after the first one it is like a whole new experience.

I did something similar to this early on when the game first came out... the run to get to this tower was exciting as hell but after I got all the gear it took a lot of the fun out of the rest of the game. I just started another play through after the newest update and will definitely just be taking my time and enjoying the normal progression through the game. The level progression, reward for exploring, and crafting/building mechanics are all very well done and deserve the time if you have the time.
So glad I saw this video AFTER the fact I ran from how you're supposed to go and it took me 4 hours of cheesing mining and all that, didn't know you could build like this
Thanks for the video! I just finished doing this at level 3. Those desert birds are terrible! At one point they were spawn camping me. I died around 13 times in a row nearly instantly. I was finally able to get my stairs high enough to make the jump! I made it all the way to the top of the tower with the locked door and discovered that I lost my lock picks during the insta death loop! I was able to get it sorted out and finally looted the glider! Man it is sweet! Thanks again!
Those birds are pretty spicy lol. My first test trial run to make sure this works I ended up running into the same problem at the sun temple. Glad you were able to make it though 😄
Hey there. Thanks for the spot. There is one more tomb in the same room as well. Just go downstairs to the main gate, on the right hand side there is a door covered rubble. Mine the rubble and you enter a tomb room. There is a skeleton trapped there tho, so be careful while mining the rubble.

Nice video, there's also a chest that you can grab while downstairs, its hidden behind some stone debris, by the main gate, ( If you are inside your back against the main gate, you should see it on your left )Just need a couple hit of your pickaxe to get in, Easy second chest per run / Reset, It is guarded by a skeleton tho. It's worth noting there is another sarcophagus that gives lvl 25 loot in that same room; if you walk past the first sarcophagus and go down the stairs, on one of the sides there's some rubble you can get rid of to open up another room where there's a pesky skeleton dude and the other sarcophagus. Also, I havent gotten any legendary yet, not sure if the spot was nerfed since this video was published or i'm just unlucky but yeah. There's also a chest on top of the temple you can easily reach with double jump, it's above the room where you pick up the glider.
Followed along your route perfectly, got that sweet sweet loot. This was fun and exciting (and dangerous) and those huge desert birds killed me a few times, but the journey was epic and I had a blast. Thanks!
I appreciate the level of cheese you attained to figure this out. I've been considering it but I wanted to explore it as intended to stretch the game out a bit more. I did cheese the giant vukah boss though because it kept smashing me ro death in one hit. It won't leave the ring very far at all so range weapons just beat it to death without it fighting back. Can basically do the same thing with the gorger matron but she throws bombs at you.
I (Goohi) personally didn’t do the gear portion of this cheese farm, only the glider because of how poo poo the initial glider is, and I gotta say as someone with little patience this glider is very nice to have while exploring! That being said I understand people wanting to grind towards all the gear and experience the game that way!
It works! A small tip from me, because I accidentally did it "wrong". At 6:05, you can buid a bridge over the shroud to the lower area to the left of that super high cliff. You can then turn sligtly right, traverse the field and end up on the same road shown in 6:43. That way you don't have to build upwards 20 miles. :)

Can confirm this still works as of Nov 19 2024, just that on the last phase you might want to build higher up since the red shroud has been extended. Then fly all the way until the last part where he place down the flame. Another suggestion from me is to have double jump since it will save you A LOT of trouble from avoiding enemy attack, running from them, or in case you just need to get higher up to fly further during the journey to get there. Another tip is try to memorize landmarks like unique rocks formation or tower, etc. to help guide you since the video is fast forwarded and not really showing where it is exactly. Nice! I've done similar, but a lot messier run to get this glider for a "mage from scratch" build. It is really fun to just "make your own way" to get past obstacles :D Another similar run is climbing on top of Pillars of Creation - really good spot for a home, especially in combination with Ghost Glider.
Gave you a like a =nd a honest well done on the video, that took some work. roughly 3-4 hours for me while trrying to track you with .25% speed sometimes not being able to see where at night, but it paid off! Got the glider and checkpoint to farm chest. ~not showing the map more killed a lot of us but you did a damn good job still, cant think of everything
@8:39 idk what game settings you're playing on, but from here on there's deadly shround along the edge of this mountain you're going in. It prevents me from getting around the way you do. There's dragons here also that keeps killing me over and over. About 5 deaths in and still trying.
the devs are trying to prevent us from farming this spot so early lol that’s why they added more red shroud in the newest update to this location. You can use the same forever ladder and get yourself high enough and glide over
what is challenging about your video is that there is no frame of reference of where you are . When there is an actual glimpse of a map, its so fast that youtube won't stop on that frame.
I know your post is 3 months old but to you and anyone else looking this up again, or for the first time you can use '' keys on your keyboard to go frame by frame if you can't quite see something the normal way
Thanks for the video. I can't imagine how long it took you to work out the logistics. It worked great, even though it was a difficult trip. I used this for my first two characters, but unfortunately number 3 will have to get through the early stages the old fashioned way. Work the quests and kill a lot of mobs. With the release of the 3rd patch the "way is sealed". I got as far as the mountain in from of the Sun Temple and called it quits. It was a more difficult trip and I thought I had made it, but the dreaded shroud was thickened in front of the temple and the over-the-mountain path had NPC mobs to stop that route. It appears that the route is closed for good. At least I had the opportunity outfit my early toons and work on my construction skills during the run.
Sadly, they nerfed the Sun Temple chests. But there is another one to the west that still works. It's to the east of the Southern Caravan Camp, and above the Sun Temple east of Surat's Rest. Bit harder to get to due to not only the Shroud, but also big flying chicken dragons. Oh, and scorpions.
You can still get the glider from the location in this video? I think they dismantled some stuff where you make the jump through the wall in the temple? @@rh3565
If you have the double jump and the updraft, you can keep jumping and gliding on the side of the mountain until you gain enough height to land on top of that mountain. Don't have to build stairs.
I wish I saw this earlier. I've been slowly trying to find my way to the Sun temple early. Took forever with a lot of trial and error, lol. I had no idea where it was. Then as soon as I nabbed it, your video was recommended 😂.
Honestly the journey and figuring out how to achieve these kind of runs is a big part of the fun. I'm sure it was tough but you ended up proud of yourself for making it ;)

You don't need a blacksmith to craft a lockpick, you can just do it in manual crafting for 2 metal scraps. The blacksmith's recipe is only 1 metal scrap. The journey to get the blacksmith isn't worth the 1 metal scrap you save this way.
I wish you would've shown the map more often for those who need it. I couldn't follow this because I didn't want to take every step you did.. My character is further along than a new character, but I'm super lost trying to follow along with the lack of seeing where you are on the map periodically as you get there.

@@Katzenbaaren even doing that it's hard as hell to replicate because he doesn't show us where he's at or the route he's taking, and there are a couple of cuts in the video where the locations look drastically different from where he was at just seconds ago with no indication of why or how he got where he was or where that was.
There's a third sarcophagus in the room. Jump down to the lower lever next to the sarcophagus with the bombs and on the other side of the stairs is some dirt coming out of the wall, dig through it and you'll find another sarcophagus, though it doesn't seem like it drops as good loot as the first one.
I love how to see people using the game mechanic and find ways to get what they want to achive with just thinking out of the box. Nobody is forced to that, but its fun to try same or find similar ways. And i love this game just how it is and that it allows gameplay like this. I find it extremly boring if developers do not allow gamers this type of gameplay and only allow their one way how to play a game. Its not hacking or cheating if you use game mechanic. And be honest, of course everybody likes to kill a boss when he is stuck on a stair or the ai is not finding the way to you to kill you instant. Its all about understanding how game mechanic works. Still the game is in early access and i expect changes so it will not be that easy in the future.
great idea, no clue where the hell you went though, need to check in on the map or show a screenshot of your trail. Can you add a trail map pop up or something?
Thanks for the video. I definitely want to get the glider. Not sure about the other loot as it might make the lower levels too easy. Think I might get it anyway and only wear it when I need a quick fix.
there is an other chest if you dig lvl 0 and lvl 2 a chest3 if you jump. there is even a 4 all top but not worth doing it. just keep the 3 and repeat, with practice you will do it in a min. start with the third chest.
After doing this, i discovered that you can just mine up the side of the large mountain to the side of it, and glide down with your basic glider straight into the top landing where the cheat is without the need for a lockpick or trying to avoid the birds 😅 dont this and logged out a few times so i could just give the other gliders to friends who start out
To anyone complaining about how fast or hard to understand the video is....If you're hardcore enough to try and get endgame loot at level one, you are hardcore enough to figure out how to interpret the video. Why everyone these days need their hands held is beyond me...I personally plan on playing through the game as it was intended with no early advantages, I am just looking for some decent game content, and this is done pretty well IMO, look forward to seeing more.

Unfortunately can’t farm the chest as quick on a dedicated server but this was a nice video. I’ve already put 90hrs into the game and I’m left with nothing to do but build bases lol. So much cheese in the game and I love how open they are to it.
You realize Valheim has speedruns where people are beating the Plains boss on fresh naked characters in just a few hours, right? This is nothing different.

I did that dam gone chest/tomb for 1 hour and "Never got the gear, players show on their channels" .. But I was level 22 already, So don't know if that had anything to do with. (Never any Armor) just rare weapons and 1 epic.
Lock picks are disappearing each time I travel out there to use the door, they are gone out of my bags. On my 3rd try I put the lock picks on my main hot bar. That made them stay. I also lost a boss head out of nowhere. Not sure what is going on. Buggy game.
I was wondering the same thing. This was only my second run at it so I'm sure there are ways to shave off time. I think my first try took me about 2 hours ish.
I played permadeath naked from the start and got all the way to level 25 and was in the Kindlewastes with the spire open...but then I fell into a bit of deadly shroud, which was my biggest fear all along.
Confused on why you need the blacksmith? You can make a lockpick, glider and grapple from the workbench or player inventory....The rest of the vid is awesome-sauce though. Thanks for doing this.

I slowed the video down to 25% speed made it easier at spots I needed to seee

8:58 apparently after you break the bars, theres a little ledge where you can stand on top and run across onto the other side, no need to sprint jump.

@8:39 idk what game settings you're playing on, but from here on there's deadly shround along the edge of this mountain you're going in. It prevents me from getting around the way you do. There's dragons here also that keeps killing me over and over. About 5 deaths in and still trying.
the devs are trying to prevent us from farming this spot so early lol that’s why they added more red shroud in the newest update to this location. You can use the same forever ladder and get yourself high enough and glide over
You can also tunnel up and through the hill, it takes longer but it's another option if you don't have wood on you
what is challenging about your video is that there is no frame of reference of where you are . When there is an actual glimpse of a map, its so fast that youtube won't stop on that frame.

I know your post is 3 months old but to you and anyone else looking this up again, or for the first time you can use '' keys on your keyboard to go frame by frame if you can't quite see something the normal way
Thanks for the video. I can't imagine how long it took you to work out the logistics. It worked great, even though it was a difficult trip. I used this for my first two characters, but unfortunately number 3 will have to get through the early stages the old fashioned way. Work the quests and kill a lot of mobs. With the release of the 3rd patch the "way is sealed". I got as far as the mountain in from of the Sun Temple and called it quits. It was a more difficult trip and I thought I had made it, but the dreaded shroud was thickened in front of the temple and the over-the-mountain path had NPC mobs to stop that route. It appears that the route is closed for good. At least I had the opportunity outfit my early toons and work on my construction skills during the run.

Sadly, they nerfed the Sun Temple chests. But there is another one to the west that still works. It's to the east of the Southern Caravan Camp, and above the Sun Temple east of Surat's Rest.
Bit harder to get to due to not only the Shroud, but also big flying chicken dragons. Oh, and scorpions.

If you have the double jump and the updraft, you can keep jumping and gliding on the side of the mountain until you gain enough height to land on top of that mountain. Don't have to build stairs.

I wish I saw this earlier. I've been slowly trying to find my way to the Sun temple early. Took forever with a lot of trial and error, lol. I had no idea where it was. Then as soon as I nabbed it, your video was recommended 😂.
Honestly the journey and figuring out how to achieve these kind of runs is a big part of the fun. I'm sure it was tough but you ended up proud of yourself for making it ;)

I'm not entirely certain about the chest. There's some talk about it being patched but I'm not sure that's confirmed
You don't need a blacksmith to craft a lockpick, you can just do it in manual crafting for 2 metal scraps. The blacksmith's recipe is only 1 metal scrap. The journey to get the blacksmith isn't worth the 1 metal scrap you save this way.
I wish you would've shown the map more often for those who need it. I couldn't follow this because I didn't want to take every step you did.. My character is further along than a new character, but I'm super lost trying to follow along with the lack of seeing where you are on the map periodically as you get there.

@@Katzenbaaren even doing that it's hard as hell to replicate because he doesn't show us where he's at or the route he's taking, and there are a couple of cuts in the video where the locations look drastically different from where he was at just seconds ago with no indication of why or how he got where he was or where that was.

There's a third sarcophagus in the room. Jump down to the lower lever next to the sarcophagus with the bombs and on the other side of the stairs is some dirt coming out of the wall, dig through it and you'll find another sarcophagus, though it doesn't seem like it drops as good loot as the first one.

I love how to see people using the game mechanic and find ways to get what they want to achive with just thinking out of the box. Nobody is forced to that, but its fun to try same or find similar ways. And i love this game just how it is and that it allows gameplay like this. I find it extremly boring if developers do not allow gamers this type of gameplay and only allow their one way how to play a game.
Its not hacking or cheating if you use game mechanic. And be honest, of course everybody likes to kill a boss when he is stuck on a stair or the ai is not finding the way to you to kill you instant. Its all about understanding how game mechanic works.
Still the game is in early access and i expect changes so it will not be that easy in the future.
great idea, no clue where the hell you went though, need to check in on the map or show a screenshot of your trail. Can you add a trail map pop up or something?

there is an other chest if you dig lvl 0 and lvl 2 a chest3 if you jump. there is even a 4 all top but not worth doing it. just keep the 3 and repeat, with practice you will do it in a min. start with the third chest.

Damn that's some great loot!
After doing this, i discovered that you can just mine up the side of the large mountain to the side of it, and glide down with your basic glider straight into the top landing where the cheat is without the need for a lockpick or trying to avoid the birds 😅 dont this and logged out a few times so i could just give the other gliders to friends who start out
To anyone complaining about how fast or hard to understand the video is....If you're hardcore enough to try and get endgame loot at level one, you are hardcore enough to figure out how to interpret the video. Why everyone these days need their hands held is beyond me...I personally plan on playing through the game as it was intended with no early advantages, I am just looking for some decent game content, and this is done pretty well IMO, look forward to seeing more.

Unfortunately can’t farm the chest as quick on a dedicated server but this was a nice video. I’ve already put 90hrs into the game and I’m left with nothing to do but build bases lol. So much cheese in the game and I love how open they are to it.

My Filipino ass is very thankful for this guide. I now be zooming across the map like a true chad.
One simple fix for this cheese would be taking a page from the superior Valheim and introducing some Deathsquitos in the higher zones.
You realize Valheim has speedruns where people are beating the Plains boss on fresh naked characters in just a few hours, right? This is nothing different.

Plus, deathsquitos are very easy to either block/parry, then punish. They are very squishy, and non-problematic once you have the timing down.

for future video is possible when ever u drop altar take a 10 sec break on map to make it easieur to follow >_< still very thanksfull for the video just tough having the map reference everytime u drop 1 would had been nice (i mean beside the mega ladder that require 10 of them >_
It is bonkers how large this game is. Even sped up that was one epic long way to go and the start point wasn't even on the other edge of the map.
only thing i wish there was more of in this video was expanded map views so i could follow along better

I'm having a hard time making that jump with the glider to get to the glider chest. Maybe they nerfed the jump or increased the distance?
I had problems with it as well but it still works. Sprint jump is tough to time

I did that dam gone chest/tomb for 1 hour and "Never got the gear, players show on their channels" .. But I was level 22 already, So don't know if that had anything to do with. (Never any Armor) just rare weapons and 1 epic.
Lock picks are disappearing each time I travel out there to use the door, they are gone out of my bags. On my 3rd try I put the lock picks on my main hot bar. That made them stay. I also lost a boss head out of nowhere. Not sure what is going on. Buggy game.

Yes! If it’s a dedicated server the server needs restart, not just a log off. Keep that in mind and have fun!
I can confirm the glider is still there although it was difficult to get across the shroud and the dragons are a pain to deal with.

I was wondering the same thing. This was only my second run at it so I'm sure there are ways to shave off time. I think my first try took me about 2 hours ish.
This is how I beat the game naked it was a lot of fun sitting at 24½ and have never put on any armor and got all the steam achievements lol

I played permadeath naked from the start and got all the way to level 25 and was in the Kindlewastes with the spire open...but then I fell into a bit of deadly shroud, which was my biggest fear all along.
Confused on why you need the blacksmith? You can make a lockpick, glider and grapple from the workbench or player inventory....The rest of the vid is awesome-sauce though. Thanks for doing this.
can u get guarnteed drops twice, cuz i play on a coop and idk if u can get rare staffs / that glider etc twice
If you reset the server all the loot will respawn, so yes, everyone can get the glider and loot!
