What an absolute honor to be a part of this collaboration, and what a joy it was to go back and think more carefully about what's going on vocally. How amazing is it that you can have so many people of the same voice type with such distinctly different voices? The voice is like the auditory version of the fingerprint, having no exact copy anywhere else in the world. Please give some love to The Wellermen and all these insanely talented guys! Also, please read the top of the description for a dedication to a wonderful person that passed away this past week. Kathi aka "ShadoKat" was a mega fan of The Wellermen and The Bass Gang, and this video is dedicated to her ❤
You guys should collaborate more often. You all sound incredible. That jacket makes me think of pilots from back in the day because they wore leather jackets when flying both in combat and civillian services. It looks great. Wear it with pride knowing that fact, and keep it in good shape. It might be worth a lot of money, especially if you autograph it.👍❤
I love that you call it out that they are like fingerprints. Because listening to you all enough times, I can tell who is singing based just on ur voices and wouldn't need video to see who it is 😁
Remember Peter: you are a star as well. With over 42,000 subs on UA-cam, plus the Bass Gang and doing solo numbers that get attention by UA-cam reactors. That counts as a star in my book.
Dear Peter, Thank you so much for the dedication to ShadoKat. Kathi was a friend of mine for over 30 years, and she is so very much missed. She knew that I love the bass voice, and sent me some of your videos. My tastes in music are quite eclectic, but I do really love opera. This opera fan is very impressed with your voice. I hope you will continue to have a wonderful career.
As a bass addict and try-hard alto chorister, this was such an adrenaline rush. Thanks so much to the Wellermen and the Bass Gang. Please keep it coming and remember there’s no such thing as bass overload - the more, the better ❤️Would love a Buttery Smooth Bass Group of Peter, Bobby, Jo Jo and of course Avi.
I don't think it was assigned to me, but I recorded for everything in my range, so I was up there on that really high bit as well! I'm actually a tenor but I have a decent baritone range and growl tones in the basement. So I was on the highest and lowest notes on this track which is fun.
This collaboration was so beyond epic, exactly what we all needed 🤩 it was also cool to hear about the contrasts in everyone’s voices! So interesting how much variation there is in the individual voices, but yet it’s cohesive and sounds great with everyone coming together. Thanks for another great vid! 😊
I'm so glad to hear your analysis and insight into this song. I am also glad to finally hear some of your comments about Colm's singing. It was great to see some of my favorite youtube artists collab and bring such a great song to life.
IWhat a great arrangement by Bobby, and I’m glad the whole Bass Gang was in on it. I was really hoping you’d do this reaction-I wanted to hear your thoughts on some of the solos, plus some insider info on how it was made, and you didn’t disappoint. So true about Lucas-he has a voice made for opera if he has any interest at all. I was also dying to know more about JoJo (?) after hearing his short solo-what a rich, warm voice. I am going to have to go looking for more of his work. I already figured out who Jonathan Young was and checked out his channel. I’ll be listening to some of his work, too, although metal isn’t really my thing. Interesting what you said about Colm. I’ll have to go find something where he sings in his higher register. For me the fun part of this reaction, though, was getting to hear you sing some of it-loved that short you did as well. By the way, if I could, I’d definitely be a patron. Just can’t afford it. (I know, $1 a month, but seriously, my budget is that tight right now-massive vet and car repair bills-and of course they all hit me AFTER I blew my budget on some long-deferred work on my home.). Best I can do for now is like, subscribe, and comment to help with the algorithm. But just so you know I’m always really happy to see a new reaction from you on a song I like.
i'm a bit late, but jojo sings for an a cappella group called "backtrack vocals". he has an unbelievable lower extension and a flawless bass sound, i highly recommend listening to some of their songs which feature him
Luke is a diamond in the rough. Maybe not quite rough... Just saw him on American Idol. He's got so much potential. Gah, Bobby and his breathy bass! So fabulous.
One more! I don't have an edit option. This is the most fabulous arrangement of Misty Mountain I've heard! That first section with the crescendo is just gorgeous! Kay, I'm done.
When the whole choir comes in, I get an eargasm every dang time. It fills my ears with pure joy. It's amazing how it just completely fills every slot possible.
I just came across this yesterday and I cannot get enough, you have some SERIOUS talent and obvious passion, and all involved show the same, serious talent, obvious passion and just incredible brotherhood and friendship. This has been on repeat for me since the moment I found it, I so look forward to seeing more.
This was such an amazing version. I made sure to watch it before watching ur reaction analysis. I had commented on the video that this was a total EARGASM. There is just soooooo much bass going on and it's not just an in ur face bass mush but it's so well done and gave me utter chills. Just so awesome
Hello Peter, wow! Great vocal and musical analysis. Thank you for sharing your insights. I am very happy you pointed out some of the good stuff, I also recognized and brighten the talk with behind the scenes info now and then. Love that! Some further remarks I would like to add: As musician used to sing in choires I am very impressed and interested how you do such a great collaboration. I know, how difficult it is to be in sync and build clean harmonies. It still baffles me, how you manage that in such a huge group with changing leading roles. Chapeau! I bow deep to all of you! Additionally I am glad, you mentioned the vibrato (I would call it tremolo, because it is soooo wide) by Jonathan Young. For me it destroys the feel of "Hobbit". Its a pity, because I could imagine, he can sing in a -- let's say -- simpler way worth a dwarf and his pining for his home and mountain. To me, Jonathan seems to completly having forgotten, what he is singing about and the story behind the song. To me it feels more like "boasting about what I can do" instead of staying true to the story and narration. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Have you discussed the background / story / narration of the song itself in the group? Would be interesting to know, how you discussed the interpretation before recording. That said, for me Jonathans solo pronounces in contrast, how beautifully all the others handle that common ground. Everyone of you is a soloist on some point - singing in the lead or else singing a particular, important bass line, but nobody forges himself in the foreground. All in all its team effort (like Hobbit is). For me: That is, what a good acapella group should be like: One can identify the respective voices but it's the mutual, combined vocals that intrigues the audience. Kudos to all for that amazing achievement (except, well...). Furthermore I totally agree on your notes to Colm. In my opinion he puts too much pressure on his vocal cords. I recognized this before in other videos of him (as you also mention). In this recording, it is very obvious. The tragedy is: This will ruin the voice. I have seen what this does in another man. He wasn't able to speak for a very long time. This creeps on you until it's too late. I very much hope, that Colm stops doing this. There are so many lads out there, that might copy him - with disastrous results. Once again: Great analysis, Peter. Keep it coming! 🥰
was so excited to see Lucas audition / get a golden ticket on American Idol a few days ago. He's from my home-town & I adore his voice! This whole collab is insanely good!
I saw the message from Avi on your Instagram, congrats on getting the credit you deserve! Looking forward to joining your patron and supporting such a talented artist!
I first became aware of this arrangement from your 13 second Tik Tock video, and I wanted to see the whole thing (hoping you would have been featured more)! I have to say, this one is my favorite version of this song (and I'm a Tim Foust fan.. ). I honestly thought you were singing the first piece! When I played this for my spouse we cranked the volume up, because it's a moral imperative when the depth of this sound is this amazing. :-) Would love to hear more of your singing (in addition to your operatic performances). Thank you for your detailed analysis and informative content!
Speaking of Avi, hope you are planning to react to his latest release on 2 - 15 - 2022, All Is Well feat. Joy Williams. They co-wrote it in 1 day. No super lows but Joy sings it pretty deep and it has a beautiful blend.
Love to hear Peter review and analyse Avi’s lower version of Otherside from one of his livestreams which is sung acoustic from his cabin in the forest. ua-cam.com/video/NTXVnWG7JNQ/v-deo.html
You guys were awesome, and love this analysis. BTW, you're not biased because within the first verse, my thought was "wow! This is even better than Peter and Tim!!!" Bobby deserves mad props for this arrangement
As someone who studied music up until the point when I realised I didn't have the spark that differentiates being technically good vs being a musician - I really enjoy your reactions for the analysis behind the emotional impact.
Love this break down, hope i can get to the point where i can join in on something like this one day. Also why is it a little unsettling when Colm looks straight at the camera. Just such and intence gaze.
I like your reviews Peter, you’re able to pickup on all the features / sounds of each voice that we all wonder when watching these collaboration videos. Kudos. Ps, would you ever consider online singing lessons for male bass/baritones?
I would say other UA-camrs who do reactions videos, after they checked the video - the original, they must also react to this video - your analysis video because you did cover some important points and they’ll also know you can also do all of it and just for this video you aren’t in the main focus, cuz’ you are very talented so much so that you almost mimicked the colours of their voices and literally sung some low notes along literally before our eyes, also highlighted some parts that are the high notes....... maybe you should have been featured a little bit more. I can tell everyone is really talented with how low they all can sing but would have liked a few more bass guys to fill out the harmonies a little more like the bassist from Home Free, Geoff Castellucci, and there is another that I can't remember his name but this is only my opinion.
Ciao Peter , i think you must react to "You're the mean one Mr Grinch" by Small Town Titans . I bet you will surely love the voice , it's a masterpiece perf . And he is may be will remind you one of these guys ;) Oh , and you told me you did not sing sub cuz you are not good at it AHAHHA ya lier !

Made you think the dwarfs from Middle Earth were really singing in the halls of Moriah.
Super cool version! Very Whitacre in what you called the first crescendo section with the dissonance. Amazing!

It would be cool to see your reaction to this video:
Clap it up Dan -Just A Little Talk With Jesus x Rainbow of Love.
It’s missing one important person in this choirs, TIM STORM. 😬
Stop being so damn handsome okay? Thanks.
Lol I'll get right on that 😆
What about me?!?!?!? I'm I guess a bass. I'm 14 and my lowest note is a C1
Depends which technique you use to sing it, and the quality of it
@@PeterBarber I used vocal Fry. I use Subharmonics a lot though. My lowest chest note is C2 with morning voice if I'm lucky.
