anyone remember when Phil was going to just paint the engine bay and pop the engine back in lol im so happy Phil didn't stick top that plan the car looks and sounds soo much better
Lets just take a moment to appreciate the weld quality. The sound also speaks for itself. Also i think there is a bushing thats going to be short lived that close to the exhaust
Given the manifold is glowing at idle speeds it's going to be so interesting and one heck of a challenge to get the heat management right under the bonnet when in full load conditions, good luck. Awesome fabrication work by Adam, credit where is due.
Just those small revs got me super excited. Imagine when we get to hear it at full throttle. I love seeing new uploads of this car. One of my favourite youtube builds
Hands down the best bmw e46 m3 on the Internet, looks out of this world, and sounds even better, didnt think it could sound better then it did all them years ago but my word it does, cant wait to hear it screaming at 10.000 rpm down a straight! 👏👍
I saw ten on the dashboard, my bad bmw fan boys don't roast me! 😂 anyway should turn it up to eleven, Then you can really get them ten in to one headers properly red! 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
I can't believe how hot those runners got in a relatively short space of time! Mental lol. Sounds absolutely great under no load, god only knows what it's going to sound like on load! Brilliant update guys, can't wait for the next one.
YES YES YES!!! Waited years for this and it was worth every second. Great video guys. Please could you let Jay have this as his company car only he lives down the road from me and that would be the best alarm clock, ever! (So long as it’s after 0800 and 3 days per week max) Top work, thank you 🙏
So many opinions. Here’s one for ya, she’s a beaut, looking forward to hearing it at full go. Great work as usual Adam, Phil, and his friend Jay. Top notch.
It's a good thing it looks as cool as it does. When you put a ton of work into something, without knowing the exact outcome, you have moments like this from time to time. Still looks pretty cool though, nice work.
God man, it sounds glorious through that exhaust now.... I can't wait to hear it screaming under load.... what I wouldn't give to have that beauty you built 👌 just needs either some trumpets or a custom carbon box for those ITBs Edit: hopefully once everything is said and done, you'll get those gorgeous headers ceramic coated to keep that heat INSIDE the primaries lol.... those things were glowing like a rotary's exhaust 😅(might want to check the fuel ratio too if you haven't already with those glowing too lol)
I have a standard M3 with S54 and standard exhaust And the exact same problem with the exhaust touching that brace. My solution was a new rubber mount and 3 washers between the threads and the brace to push it up a few mm further.
I can't wait to see it tuned. May need a decent sized hood vent tho, like way bigger and maybe even some heat shielding. Would love to see see it mostly exposed, some kind of lexan viewing window in the vent would be dope
Awesome. Adam is crazy skilled. I think this will sound epic under load. Surely lagging like Thermo Met do would be best for heat control? Wouldn't look as good though.
Oh yeah, I can hear the potential. It might not be as good as an LFA or a JUDD motor (those are even fire, so yeah), but it's definitely gonna sound better than your typical Audi/Lambo V10 with an X-pipe. Might even rival the barely odd-fire CGT. Question: Do they make or could you custom order a split-pin crank setup in order to MAKE this an even-fire engine?
No one does that I know of but that would be interesting. There are videos out there of another S85-swapped E46 M3 that for all the world sounds even-firing, had side pipe exhausts, can’t remember who owns it or even where it is now, but I have never heard an S85 sound like that before.
Looks awesome. Sounds good. I do have concerns with the heat though. I wonder if you coating the inside of the pipes could keep the natural look and lower under hood temps…..more please.
Exhaust sounds awesome and equal sound too. Look forward to seeing how you make up coldl air feed into the throttle body's. Guess air temp must have been high after running for some time.
I've used rubber center exhaust pipe supports from a mkIV Golf because they are easy to come by and easy to adapt to many situations. Beautiful work guys. That car is a dream.
Love that this is getting closer and closer to completion! Was an awesome car when you had it and the previous owner leaving it to rot is fucking sad. Hope you guys do take it for a rip back at the Ring though
I know you joked about the internet saying it, but how do you actually prevent coilpacks from melting? Is the header gonna have some form of thermal wrap on it? Or heat shield or something? Or will you the coating mentioned also prevent head radiating off of it? love these headers so much though, they're a straight up work of art 👀
I remember the word filter on DW forum , was there one for the word 'stance' , I can't remember , i remember EPIC being filtered to mediocre . Car sounds nice geez , 10 red hot glowing danger bananas under the bonnet is a sight to behold.
10 headers 1 manifold 5 exhausts 2 girls 1 cup
Take your fucking like 😂
1 man with huge balls
😂😂😂
And a partridge in a pear tree
😂😂😂
anyone remember when Phil was going to just paint the engine bay and pop the engine back in lol im so happy Phil didn't stick top that plan the car looks and sounds soo much better
The old "not going to go too mad" Porkie pie
Phil doesn’t do anything in halves
Now that’s what you call a hot air intake!
Definitely 😂looks insane makes zero sense.
Practicality? Performance? What are those? I just want to hear it sing!
@@Ang3lUki hell no ! On both questions lol. it's beautiful would make for a sick show car.
they did the extra 5th output just to reduce heat on the standard exhaust ?
@@chrisiverson6647 I agree, rumour has it that the manifold cost 20 grand as well, just can’t see the point personally but good luck to them.
I cant get over how nice that rear end sits. The S1's were a fantastic change up
Lets just take a moment to appreciate the weld quality. The sound also speaks for itself. Also i think there is a bushing thats going to be short lived that close to the exhaust
insanely high quality, i'm jealous
And take a moment to appreciate the David Gilmour shirt
aye the lollipop. Thats why the e30/e46 had an L shape tin shield there
Sounds crap for a v10
That exhaust man does unbelievable work
Trust me he is more than just an 'exhaust man' he has his own UA-cam channel.

Love that AvE sticker on the alignment machine! It sounds extremely unique, as those manifolds should do. Super stoked on this progress.
Given the manifold is glowing at idle speeds it's going to be so interesting and one heck of a challenge to get the heat management right under the bonnet when in full load conditions, good luck.
Awesome fabrication work by Adam, credit where is due.
Exactly the exhaust headers are a work of art but the heat is going to be bad and a pain when things need to be replaced in the v10
Just needs a little fettle on the map tbh to bring the red hot exhaust on idle down a bit. Not doubting its going to be warm under there
Not glowing. Reflection from the orange paint.
Probably a tune issue at idle.
Realistically I see something g catching fire
That exhaust is a thing of beauty, amazing job by Adam, glad to see this one progressing.
Just those small revs got me super excited. Imagine when we get to hear it at full throttle. I love seeing new uploads of this car. One of my favourite youtube builds
Who ever made those headers deserves a knighthood
Hands down the best bmw e46 m3 on the Internet, looks out of this world, and sounds even better, didnt think it could sound better then it did all them years ago but my word it does, cant wait to hear it screaming at 10.000 rpm down a straight! 👏👍
10K rpm on an S85?
10k is a little optimistic 😂
I saw ten on the dashboard, my bad bmw fan boys don't roast me! 😂 anyway should turn it up to eleven, Then you can really get them ten in to one headers properly red! 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Absolute work of art 👌🏻 may need some more heat shields😁
This header is the reason I subscribe to the channel, been waiting for this, 2 mins in and can’t wait to hear it. Love the channel ❤
5:32 Late Brake Show just uploaded a video about that Austin and here it is in a Driftworks video too, nice synchronicity 👍
This is so overkill..
Absolutely love it🤣 Can’t wait to hear it on the road.
So in love with this car, that exhaust is a work of art.
I have seen enough to know this is going to sound bloody incredible at full chat, cant wait!!!
I can't believe how hot those runners got in a relatively short space of time! Mental lol. Sounds absolutely great under no load, god only knows what it's going to sound like on load! Brilliant update guys, can't wait for the next one.
Always ecstatic to see an upload from Driftworks of the glorious E46.
Really enjoy watching these videos. It's like we get to hang out with you chill guys.
I'm super stoked for you Phil. You must be chuffed to bits. 👍👍👍👍👍
Adams work is mind blowing, just watched his skills on The late brake previous to this, on Johnnies allegro update.
Superb, great effort 👌🏻 would defo get the tune checked out ,to be running hot enough to glow red I would say ignition timing needs sorting 👌🏻
YES YES YES!!! Waited years for this and it was worth every second. Great video guys. Please could you let Jay have this as his company car only he lives down the road from me and that would be the best alarm clock, ever! (So long as it’s after 0800 and 3 days per week max) Top work, thank you 🙏
Cant wait for this thing firing at full tilt. Love this thing coming together. Absolute symphony already.
Just finished watching the allegro update and now it's here 😂
Adam appears to be the go-to fabricator for UK UA-cam project cars. Fun to see the Late Brake Show Allegro make a cameo in this.
Been waiting on these videos for so long! It's come a long way and sounds mint. Can't wait till she's on the road!
So many opinions. Here’s one for ya, she’s a beaut, looking forward to hearing it at full go. Great work as usual Adam, Phil, and his friend Jay. Top notch.
Phil Mate, this thing sounds absolutely mental. Big ups
That sounds nuts already. Cant wait to hear it under load. And with the valve open 😅
The exhaust dump valve is controlled by a 3 port mac valve. So it can be opened by a switch or be controlled by the ECU.
What a save from the scrapheap!
2:17 ... Jonny's Alegro! 😁
What a fucking beautiful car. Those headers need to be put in a museum for welding and fitting excellence! 🔥
Wow. That sounds amazing. Long awaited but well worth it. Well done Jay and Phil
It's a good thing it looks as cool as it does. When you put a ton of work into something, without knowing the exact outcome, you have moments like this from time to time. Still looks pretty cool though, nice work.
That wheel fitment is just gorgeous

i know this is an m3...but i do wanna get one of those old m5's with the v10. love the evolution of the sounds from this thing!
Great seeing a master at work, great job
Sounds amazing 🔥. My favourite e46 build 😍
Thats definitely the best sounding s85 out there!
His works incredible .
Well done lads …. Sounds exotic af ! The M5 engine sounds mad from factory but this is gonna be next level
Love the Ultra Hot Air Intake they have created....
Would absolutely love to have a metal magician like Adam near me. He does outstanding work!
Damn it you've got one of the best sounding BMW in the world 👌🏻
Sounds awesome Phil, Nice work!
Thanks man!

What a thing!!!!! Wow, just seen Misha take a V10 DCT e46 M3 out in the ring. I would say the first 14-20inches of the headers wants heat wrapping 😮
I've used rubber center exhaust pipe supports from a mkIV Golf because they are easy to come by and easy to adapt to many situations. Beautiful work guys. That car is a dream.
Hard work pays off 😊 v10 glory!1
Those headers and manifold though!!!😮😍
Crazy to think you've had this car for over 10 years
So buzzed foe this one to drop 🎉
Amazing work. I wish his shop was in Pennsylvania.
Respect to the lad with the David Gilmour shirt!
That's going to sound nuts.
Hope yall get crazy with insulating that 10-1 header. And an insulated airbox for your itbs.
What on earth are you going to do with the amount of heat from the headers??? Wrap? Or?
That's blimmin awesome!
Good progress 👏

Best song I’ve heard in a long time

Hope all that heat from the headers wont melt the coil packs and head cover gaskets
Honey wake up… drift works posted!
I'll always as long as I'm able, watch everything this guy makes, Even though he roasted me for liking Verona
Sounds like a gallardo! Really nice sounding setup, am I the only one that noticed a knocking noise at 20:50 on startup?
No, it's been discussed a few times in the videos. It's the vanos on one side. Not sure if it just needs bleeding, but we'll be investigating soon.
Thanks for this update. The f80 sounds was getting kind of depressing 😅
It sounds 'slightly different' to the F80 😂
Amazing build.
Thanks!
That's some talent right there.
