I think the attention to detail is completely absent. Wheel to arch fitment is horrible, front-end grille curved the wrong way, they're extracting warm air where there is none, the bumper holes don't actually feed the engine intakes, interior rushed and un-finished. The concept is so good but this, sans actually running, is months away from being finished.
Yeah, the tail lights on the render at 2:10 would be perfect but to add on to that I also think it should have kept the popup headlights as it's a defining feature of the car.
Stunning car and perfect build! While not in name , there was an 8 series M car. The 850Csi had a bespoke M badged S70B56 (which would become the McLaren F1 engine) and M logos in the interior as well. Only 1500ish cars were produced and even the Vin says the manufacturer is BMW Motorsport not BMW Ag. Also the model name on the certificate of title is stated as M8. PS: Took me a while but I just realized Rey is the guy from that amazing Petrolicious video from more then a decade ago with the E24s. He's the reason I bought E24s and E28s since then!

No, you're hyperboling the Jason Cammisa special on the 850CSi, present the facts as they are known, nothing in this clip says otherwise. The actual M8, see the BMW Classic film on it, had the S70/1 which would later become the S70/2 used in the F1 (and modified further in the X5 Le Mans).
The e31 is a super underrated car. This version is absolute perfection (minus the clear tail lights). I love how much attention to detail was put into this build.
850 CSi for decades has been my dream car. This one comes very close to it. Fantastic design and execution. Hope to see more of it in the future 👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻
By far the best E31 restomod ever built. I mean those guys over completed this project, beauty lies in the simplicity of the design and it really looks oem.. in love with the popup headlight delete and replacing the with air ducts is a brilliant design decision.. and when i hear the name of Jonsibal i knew that this is going to be flawless!
I saw this at the show and spent so much time going around it. I was absolutely enamored. Really nicely done and great integration of one of the coolest ///M’s, the e60!
I hope they will eventually offer this as a service. I always wanted a 850 and would buy one in a heart beat if i can have it modded like this. Beautiful build.
What an amazing machine, four years in the making for a build like this is really good time! I too have been building a similar s85 e31, not to the level that this one has been built to. Let me be the first to say that a swap like this is not for the faint of heart or a beginner. This swap is essentially thousands of tiny problems that all need to be solved. I take my hat off to ray and his team. Amazing work!!!!!!!
Very beautyful build ❣️👍🏼 I love restomods...for me they are the best cars you can get ❕🤩 The 850 with V10 + manual sounds like an absolutely dream combination 👌🏼 Love from Berlin 🇩🇪 Ramsi 🙋🏻♂️
Absolutely! Needs the AC schnitzer style deep lip 3-piece wheels in the back, with the rivets, like in the 90's.. And yea why the clear tailights.. Changing out tailights is a cheap mod that I did back in high school with my friends lol
The M8 got rid of them because they weighed too much. This car had to ditch them not just because of weight, but because the S85 intakes need to suck in more air than the stock inlet flow allows, hence the hood scoops.
interior quality isnt it for me, but the outside and drivetrain is gold 😍 only thing i dont understand is the bottom of the doors, why are they not flush ?
Sounds amazing, great test drive, that shift from 2nd to third, the way it corners, sounds, when you guys see cars made out of fiber glass that they don’t test drive in the video there is usually a reason for it
Excellent build right here. I love the OEM focus; I think it's really paid off, doubly so in its restomod context. I also don't mind the clear taillights whatsoever, honestly. They suit the overall look of the build rather nicely.
This is such a slick resto and as someone who is not a fan of pop up headlights this execution is dang near flawless. As a Saab and JDM fan I love the clears tails. They add that extra little 90s, early 2000s flair and style. Bravo🤌👍👏👏
Oh man love it. I mean hats off for those guys that build this beautiful piece. And with that combination it makes it even more special. Now I wanna go to Las Vegas to see this in Sema car show man.
Great build, nice styling. I would've made the rear lights red and the round air intakes on the bumper square but what a build. Nice wheel choice too, not the first design you'd think of but spot on.
Wow!!! Congrats on this build!!! Would you consider a retail build for this for the masses? 4 years, that's alot of dedication and perseverance. Enjoy in good health.
The interior is as perfect as the exterior. This is such a proper era appropriate build through and through. If I ever commissioned a build I’d call Ray for his expertise. On any back dated custom BMW build that is.
Master level work of art and building your personal dream car must be a feeling when driving it like no other... built not bought at the highest calibre this one. Well done and thank you for sharing with the world

Can't wait to hear this thing actually being driven. Also, BMW should sit up and take notice - the E31 is one of the most beloved older BMWs by fans, and it wasn't exactly fast, lightweight or track ready. Lot of work in there, interesting that the rear arches didn't run into the doors too like the fronts do, coukd have looked a bit more subtle. Rear lights are a missed opportunity from a graphic perspective but each to their own, extremely cohesive for a non OEM build.
It's definitely made like bmw should have done it. Great craftsmanship and beautiful car. I personally just don't like the design of the wheel but that's just me. The one picture of the car on the trailer with the LeMans on it at 15:31.... that moment I was thinking "That's the look" Also I thought at first I would prefer red tail lights but when I saw them lighting up I liked the white ones. Think in Estoril blue it would also look amazing. Just can say easily one of the best restomods I've ever seen.
The attention to detail is insane. This project is absolutely bleeding with passion. One of a kind vehicle.
Definitely big love for such builds..

I literally couldnt tell who owned the car several times during the video, i had to double take it.

Looks amazing. Only thing I would change....the tail lights.
clear lenses are so ugly on silver cars
Yup
My only complaint
Smoked/darkened normal tail lights would fit in a lot better than the clears
looks so cheap and unfinished. like late 90s honda accord import tuner
