I liked Ezra's Saber/Blaster Hybrid design and function, I especially liked the episode where Kannan showed Ezra how to properly use such an unusual lightsaber when fighting the grand inquisitor. (I think that's who he was fighting...)
That saber works good as a duel wielder because you have three weapons in one kinda wish he remade it and gave it a upgrade to use both blaster and saber at the same time
The Inquisitor lightsabers also adds as an intimidation display to lower level Jedi but doesn't work as much when they've encountered the same thing multiple times already.

The fact it was elegantly designed but to a peak efficiency level for his specific style...and my personal favorite....looks more elegant than any of the others...especially the jumpy flippy ones(specifically styles focused on using ALOT of those movements...ie.. yodas style...shouldn't be used by anyone but someone of his size)...would also love the ability to design the shape and materials of my lightsaber in a game...and I mean shape materials including the crystals
1:42 In fencing, a curved hilt (pistol grip) actually improves the strength of parries but limits the speed of slighter movements like disengages compared to a straight hilt (french grip). Makashi probably has such finesse that this trade-off doesn't matter while the leverage offered by the curved hilt would significantly improve the strength of the wielder in executing critical strikes and ripostes.
The added leverage is actually why Darth Bane used a curved blade. He was already a strong man who used Djem So, the same form as Vader. He used a curved blade to make his attacks all the more powerful.
@@Lonewolf-dy5yb Yup, Form 5 can also benefit from a curved hilt for applying leverage. That would make a Form 2 + 5 specialist a very formidable opponent, as they could conver all the bases like blaster defence (and directing back at firer), multiple opponents, and one on one duels. As well, Form 5 beating down the guard is the weakness of Form 2 practitioners.
My favorite design is Ezra's. It's practical. I don't agree with the Jedi not using blasters. When you're trying to defend lives, you need to use every tool in your tool box. This is why I like the Gray Paladins. I wish they would be explored in new media.
In the comics Jocasta Nu had some kind of lightsaber rifle. I'm surprised that Kanan didn't make a hybrid saber since he was dual wielding his blaster and lightsaber
1:40 and if Anakin had one, he could have gotten Assange after he disarmed her, and she fled… can't deflect a blaster bolt if you don't have a Lightsaber (excluding _very_ powerful Force users).
But hey, at least they sought to give a canon explanation for it. (But it's still ridiculous either way lol.) Some people over at Lucasfilm explained that the Inquisitors Lightsabers contains mini repulsorlift devices within the hilt. (Repulsorlift technology is what's used to make just about anything hover or fly, like speeders or just ships in general.) But the saber still requires a Force user for it to be used.
The Jedi need more ranged options. Anyone who's played a melee character in a ttrpg, such as a barbarian in D&D, will know nothing is more debilitating to them than a flying or ranged enemy that gets free hits on them.

Fun fact: Dooku's lightsaber was inspired by one of Charlemagne the Great's sword hilts, and Christopher Lee, the actor who portrayed Count Dooku, was actually a descendant of Charlemagne! One of my favorite pieces of Star Wars trivia.
I would love a zulu stick fighting Jedi. With a short double bladed lightsaber in the left hand. Maybe a small deflector shield to protect the hand. And a regular lightsaber in the right hand. The footwork would not be the same but I think it would be a great offensive/defensive compromise and great to defend against a more skilled enemy. You basically have three blades in front of you to protect you and deflect slashes and lunges.

For the hilt material I'd use Beskar or alchemically treated bone from a worthy beast like a Hssiss and I'd use a purified Stygium Stealth crystal with more of grey tint than the normal white or silver. Trakata and/or the telekinetic blade technique would be my go to form so I wanted to come up with a lightsaber especially designed for Trakata; the only way it'd be more suited to Trakata is if I added an Eralam or Ghostfire crystal making the blade either invisible or translucent respectively which would just be overkill.
I'm shocked you didn't mention Lumiya when discussing the lightwhip. She's arguably the most well-known user of the weapon. Granted, that's a character from Legends canon but since she was the first character in Star Wars history to use the weapon I thought you'd mention her.
My personal favorite is a toss-up between Exar Kun and Cal Kestis. I love the color of Exar Kun's blade, and I think the short handle that he used to make it is just such a cool idea. Cal's is dope simply because it can reliably serve as all three; dual sabers, single saber, and saberstaff.

The Corvax is more like a ceremonial saber rather than a usable weapon, but it’s damn gorgeous. Ahsoka’s style with the Shoto blade makes that kind the most effective only if one is using dual sabers and she does make it look good. Ezra’s is cool with its dual abilities but it’s too bad that the blaster portion isn’t lethal.
I've always liked the split saber configuration. It's just 2 single lightsabers that can be put together into a saberstaff though. Cal Kestis' lightsaber is classified as such and technically Asajj Ventress' as well. But as a naginata practictioner, I am drawn to to lightsaber lance. It's just...unless the shaft is made of lightsaber resistant material, it wouldn't be useful in a duel without a shield. And it doesn't look like it's good at deflecting blaster bolts.
I have always been fascinated at lightsabers that can alter their blade length. Sure, a light-greatsword would look cool, but I would like to see a light-knife instead - a lightsaber with a blade that is the length of a Ka-Bar or something like that. Yeah, there is the Shoto, but it is still a sword and has some length to it. A knife, because of its small size - with plenty of sizes being small enough to be easily concealed - is actually pretty tough to defend against. From practicing martial arts for over 15 years now, I learned that all weapons require some degree of range to be fully effective. Swords of all lengths need an appropriate degree of distance from the opponent to be most effective, and anything like a staff or spear needs much more distance. The knife is one of the very few, if not the only, exception to this, and that makes it especially dangerous. With all of the other weapons, getting in close will actually eliminate most of the dangers - not all of the dangers, sure, but what remains is much easier to deal with. You cannot use this method with a knife. There are also various styles of knives, for not all knives are good at slicing or stabbing - some are better for stabbing, some for slicing, and others are meant for specific styles of fighting. A knife-fighting Jedi or Sith would be quite a terrifying opponent, especially the latter. I would also argue that a light-knife would allow for a lot more utility than a standard lightsaber.
@@Johnny-ww7ic Possibly. Even if it did not, I think the much shorter blade would make it much easier to slip around and into the weak points of the armor, namely the joints. Yeah, phrik and beskar can be woven into the fabric that covers them, but they will still be weaker than the solid plates. So even if the joints can resist the blade, it would still take fewer strikes to get the joints than it would for the main plates. Plus, if the light-knife is integrated into some type of gauntlet, now you really have something there - think the melee attack in the Republic Commando game, but with a light-knife instead of a vibroblade. [shudder] I would not want to be on the receiving end of that. Then you get two of them, master Force Healing, and you are now Jedi Master Wolverine.

In the books they were able to adjust the size of the lightsaber blade. In "Splinter of the Mind's Eye," Luke turned his blade down to a small sliver, and cut a door lock to open it without leaving much evidence of their passing. ;)
@@jedironin380 Also Kyp-durran's multi-crystal lightsaber which allowed him to have a 12 foot blade when he extended it. Multi-crystal + Ezra's blaster combo seems ideal.
I like Ezra Bridger lightsaber, sure it looks clunky but this is more the result of him not having the resources of the previous jedi order, it's more of a prototype. Imagine the design if it would have been given the time do refine the construction and more importantly the development of a proper fighting style design for this weapons, these take time and resources Ezra Bridge did not really had, under a stable order it would have been another story, but again the weapons is the results of it's time.
@@Kevin-qj7fp slickest blaster I can think of, it's made up of more expensive material, I imagine it could have a folding barrel that turns into a knuckle guard at saber mode.
I'm not sure if it counts as an unusual design but my favorite is Kanan's lightsaber in Star Wars Rebels. Kanan had modified his lightsaber so that it could be separated into two parts that he would then place in different spot on his belt, basically camouflage his lightsaber as generic equipment. This serve the same purpose as a lightsaber cane but Kanan is the only force user I know of that does this. His lightsaber also had a function to shorten the blade for when he taught Ezra and could also dimish the blade's intensity, going from super hot and devastating to a dull weak beam that barely phase. Usefull when sparing with his apprentice. Also, his lightsaber has a circular handguard reminiscent to the hand guard on a katana. Though whether this hand guard could actually offer protection is never clarified
The light -Tonfa from the Force Unleashed was a cool design but my favorite would be the saber/blaster hybrid. I'd imagine if it was brought into design before the fall of the Republic the Jedi would've reluctantly adapted it into the ranks of the temple gaurds or those Jedi that went on missions that requires bringing criminals in alive since the blaster fired stun bolts.
The Lightfoil was a type saber from the old West End Games RPG use by nobles from one sector of space. It has return in the newer Fastasy Flight Games RPG. Also the Kyber Saber wielded by Rowan Freemaker.
IMO, the helicopter effect of the inquisitor blades is pretty dumb. The blades aren't angled in such a way that they would move air, and even if they did, then a tail rotor of some sort becomes necessary. It's got to be the biggest overreach of abilities for any of the blades you outlined.
Allen, you forgot a fact specifically about the lightsabers that Ventress used. They were not built specifically for Ventress. The blades were originally Komari Vosa’s. Komari used to be a Jedi Apprentice under Count Dooku, after Qui-Gon Jinn but before his defection from the Order. She fell after failing her Knight trials and fell from the Light, getting involved with and becoming the leader of the Bando Gora. Dooku placed the bounty on her head which was eventually claimed by Jango Fett. This is how he became the template for the Clone Army. It is unknown when she got these twin lightsaber blades, but they were given to Ventress after she was taken under Dooku’s tutelage as a Sith assassin.
There are some cool light sabers from the high republic you should check out. The 2 that first come to mind are Orla Jareni's hinged double-bladed lightsaber and Stellan Gios' unique cross-guard lightsaber. Glad you featured Vernestra Rwoh's dual function lightwhip/saber though ^_^
In the comics, Plo Koon designed a Light Saber wrist mounted punching Dagger. Plo Koon is also my favorite Star Wars character and is tattooed on my back playing Dejarik with Chewbacca.
I wield a light-bulb. Several in fact. They protect me from hidden enemies by emitting a strong...light so I can shout "Hey, you, enemy. Get out of my loungeroom".
I only remember her using them this way in the Clone Wars movie, but Asajj Ventress' curved lightsabers can be joined together to make an asymmetrical double bladed saber.
I really like Maris Brood's lightsabers from Force Unleashed. The Wiki calls them Guard Shotos, but essentially they're like tonfas with a blade coming outta one end.
I'm certainly someone that avoids gimmick weapons, I say keep it simple. Though the curved hilt ones are a solid idea if you like fencing/sabre-styles, the curve's actually *too much* for the job, but I guess they wanted it to show more on screen. (I actually like Ahsoka's design from when she made the ones with the white crystals. It's a good choice for her ni to style. In my case I might go for a bit less curve still, but I think it's the right idea. :) )
It was because Kylo’s crystal was cracked that he used the cross guard; when he bled out the crystal, it broke and made his original sabre unstable so he made the cross guard to divert the unstable power out.

I would have also mentioned during the light pike, the fact that some knights of Zakuul. You showed the clip of Senya fighting a Knight wielding a light pike. Senya's weapon is also a light pike. Just with a collapsible handle, I think that variant is way more interesting.
You forgot the Energy Sword used by the Sangheili race. It is small and compact and held by the fist in one hand. It produces two curved blades that bend into two parallel blades ;)
There's a bunch of awesome designs here, the curved one being a personal favorite. I kinda missed the protosabre however. It's from legends canon and was an early form of lightsabre that required an external power supply. It was connected to a battery pack attached to ones belt via a cable. This limited the range of motion of the sabre somewhat and almost completely fell out of use once technology advanced to the point that the power pack could be made small enough to fit inside the hilt (a Sith invention if I am not mistaken). Some still favored the old design however, using the advancements in power supply technology to create a supercharged blade that was significantly more powerful than the already powerful lightsabre. Imagine that scene in Phantom Menace where Qui-Gon attempts to melt through a blast door with his sabre. If he had a protosabre he could probably melt through there well before the Droidekas arrived.
I would have a Lightsaber Blaster, but upgrade the power supply so the blaster could be fired _while_ the blade was on. Cross blades in a duel and fire a stun bolt (so it can't be deflected back) or two into your opponents leg. Then you can finish them off with your blade. And if no one witnesses it then the body just shows they lost a Lightsaber duel. This technique is known as _"the way of the cheating fvckin bastard"._ And it's also why even the Sith rejected me.
Every time I heard about the Zyggarians, I am still conflicted that they deserved genocide or not. But considering that they may never change their way, so maybe they deserved it?
The way the knights of zakuul have the ACTUAL Saber pike. The temple guards just have a modified double-bladed Saber in which the hilt is longer and the blades are shoto-length
I feel like the light rifle implies a....not a light machine gun (light as in "not heavy")...a light canon (still light as in "not heavy") that would use multiple sabers at once but each to a lesser degree and thus not burning them out. Maybe it would need a combining beam like the deathstar and so would be quite heavy but given the canons that galactic commandos lug around in SWTOR, it sounds like an acceptable compromise. Maybe it could be made lighter by not needing full lightsabers but just the relevant components. The casings for the sabers would likely not be needed, nor would the blade emitter. The power could possibly come from a backpack that goes to all crystals at once.
Ezra’s but make it out of light saber resistant material and up the power on the pew pew maybe make it a stun gun I also like the ability to change the length of the saber that can catch people off guard and help against different situation
my darkside saber is a bit unusual, the pummel would be fitted with the fang or horn of a deadly animal for a surprise attack and trophy kill item, and around the emitter would be several blade guards making it look like its coming out of a skeletal claw or something
I would put Shado Vao's saberstaff lightsaber on this list as it is the only lightsaber that can change HILT length he could switch from a standard lightsaber to a full double bladed saberstaff Hilt in the middle of a fight. Also small missed detail the Temple Guards lightsabers we're also hilted like pong krell or dark rey lightsabers
I'd like to point out that Senya's lightsaber pike from the Eternal Empire trailers is something similar and may be of interest to you. Though the hilt is more like a collapsible staff, allowing for use as a regular blunt weapon as well as a regular lightsaber. Only noticed one other commenter pointing this out so far
Corran Horn's multi-phase lightsabre.... allowing on the fly hot swapping of the crystal to generate blades of different lengths( Standard and great sword) According to splinter of the mind's eye The lightsaber possessed by Luke Skywalker (Anakin's Last Jedi sabre) was also a multi crystal array, And could be fine tuned to a multitude of settings, With a wide variety of lengths and thickness available ( Ranging from standard all the way down to a short wire thin lock breaching tool).
I thought *_for sure_* the Proto Lightsaber would make the list, with its required, large, external (belt worn) power pack, connected by a cable to the hilt (via pommel). Not so much unusual, in a sense, as it was an early design that soon became obsolete once compact power units were developed... Alas, if the cross-guard gets featured, no reason this shouldn't have, as both were designs that fell out of favor. Good list, though. I loved Ezra's from the moment it was shown, though! It was a "scrappy" design, built by a "scrappy" young man! _(can't wait for Ezra to make his return, even though he already had moved on from that blade)_
I would like to see lightsabers designed similar to our own Earth based swords, but more than just the hilt but the blade also. Something curved like a katana or scimitar shaped lightsaber blade would be cool
My brain refuses to remember that the inquisitors lightsabers worked like helicopter blades🤦🏼 they already make very little scence, but adding a flight ability is WAY ridiculous. Love the inqs, just wish their weapon at least didnt spin haha the goofy handle is one thing, but dannnggg.
I wonder how Luke's Jedi Order would have fared had he not tried to go it alone and instead made a new Jedi Council out of people like Cal Kestis, Ezra Bridger, and Asoka Tano.
I think the most notable design would be the original dual blade, created by Exar Kun. Kun was able to use controls in the hilt to variate both the length and the strength of the blade on the fly, enhancing his already deadly skill at lightsaber combat. He could engage in such tactics as appearing to block a blade, but the enemy swinging entirely through the space because he had weakened the power output such that there was visually a blade there, but effectively nothing else, leaving them wide open for a deadly counterattack as Kun returned the blade to full power. Alternatively, he could cause an opponent to underestimate his reach by not extending a blade to full size. As this was also the first of the dual blades, these all combined to allow Exar Kun to leave a smoldering trail of corpses in his wake. A very unique design, especially for it's day, for a very unique Sith.
there is a uniquely designed lighstaber that has a hilt that extends itself to a rather large length, damn near doubling the length of the hilt with ease. this has some practical uses adding more control and leverage during swings and in a blade bind while simultaneously keeping the hilt compact in closer quarters and when storing it on ones belt.

Count Dooku by far has to be my favorite lightsaber design. I always loved the elegant, chrome, and curved look.

The footwork would not be the same but I think it would be a great offensive/defensive compromise and great to defend against a more skilled enemy. You basically have three blades in front of you to protect you and deflect slashes and lunges.
I'm similar; Id want a pair of force activated slightly curved hilt dual phase lightdaggers with a flat blade emitter that connect to form a short hilt double bladed lightsaber similar to Exar Kun's double blade that could easily be used in one hand especially since it can be set to standard length or a dagger saber on each end allowing for maximum versatility out of a single lightsaber even moreso than Exar Kun.
For the hilt material I'd use Beskar or alchemically treated bone from a worthy beast like a Hssiss and I'd use a purified Stygium Stealth crystal with more of grey tint than the normal white or silver.
Trakata and/or the telekinetic blade technique would be my go to form so I wanted to come up with a lightsaber especially designed for Trakata; the only way it'd be more suited to Trakata is if I added an Eralam or Ghostfire crystal making the blade either invisible or translucent respectively which would just be overkill.
I'm shocked you didn't mention Lumiya when discussing the lightwhip. She's arguably the most well-known user of the weapon. Granted, that's a character from Legends canon but since she was the first character in Star Wars history to use the weapon I thought you'd mention her.

My personal favorite is a toss-up between Exar Kun and Cal Kestis. I love the color of Exar Kun's blade, and I think the short handle that he used to make it is just such a cool idea.
Cal's is dope simply because it can reliably serve as all three; dual sabers, single saber, and saberstaff.
Good to meet a fellow Cal Kestis fan I also like the his saber because of the options it offers in combat. Double blade, single blade and dual sabers.

The Corvax is more like a ceremonial saber rather than a usable weapon, but it’s damn gorgeous. Ahsoka’s style with the Shoto blade makes that kind the most effective only if one is using dual sabers and she does make it look good. Ezra’s is cool with its dual abilities but it’s too bad that the blaster portion isn’t lethal.
Corran Horn's Lightsaber in Legends was rather unique as it had two crystals, when the second crystal was activated it doubled in length
I've always liked the split saber configuration. It's just 2 single lightsabers that can be put together into a saberstaff though. Cal Kestis' lightsaber is classified as such and technically Asajj Ventress' as well.
But as a naginata practictioner, I am drawn to to lightsaber lance. It's just...unless the shaft is made of lightsaber resistant material, it wouldn't be useful in a duel without a shield. And it doesn't look like it's good at deflecting blaster bolts.

I have always been fascinated at lightsabers that can alter their blade length. Sure, a light-greatsword would look cool, but I would like to see a light-knife instead - a lightsaber with a blade that is the length of a Ka-Bar or something like that. Yeah, there is the Shoto, but it is still a sword and has some length to it. A knife, because of its small size - with plenty of sizes being small enough to be easily concealed - is actually pretty tough to defend against.
From practicing martial arts for over 15 years now, I learned that all weapons require some degree of range to be fully effective. Swords of all lengths need an appropriate degree of distance from the opponent to be most effective, and anything like a staff or spear needs much more distance. The knife is one of the very few, if not the only, exception to this, and that makes it especially dangerous. With all of the other weapons, getting in close will actually eliminate most of the dangers - not all of the dangers, sure, but what remains is much easier to deal with. You cannot use this method with a knife. There are also various styles of knives, for not all knives are good at slicing or stabbing - some are better for stabbing, some for slicing, and others are meant for specific styles of fighting.
A knife-fighting Jedi or Sith would be quite a terrifying opponent, especially the latter. I would also argue that a light-knife would allow for a lot more utility than a standard lightsaber.
In this design if you use a normal size kyber crystal in a light-knife I could theorize is perfect to penetrate phrik or beskar armor.
@@Johnny-ww7ic Possibly. Even if it did not, I think the much shorter blade would make it much easier to slip around and into the weak points of the armor, namely the joints. Yeah, phrik and beskar can be woven into the fabric that covers them, but they will still be weaker than the solid plates. So even if the joints can resist the blade, it would still take fewer strikes to get the joints than it would for the main plates.
Plus, if the light-knife is integrated into some type of gauntlet, now you really have something there - think the melee attack in the Republic Commando game, but with a light-knife instead of a vibroblade. [shudder] I would not want to be on the receiving end of that. Then you get two of them, master Force Healing, and you are now Jedi Master Wolverine.

In the books they were able to adjust the size of the lightsaber blade. In "Splinter of the Mind's Eye," Luke turned his blade down to a small sliver, and cut a door lock to open it without leaving much evidence of their passing. ;)
@@jedironin380 Also Kyp-durran's multi-crystal lightsaber which allowed him to have a 12 foot blade when he extended it. Multi-crystal + Ezra's blaster combo seems ideal.
I like Ezra Bridger lightsaber, sure it looks clunky but this is more the result of him not having the resources of the previous jedi order, it's more of a prototype. Imagine the design if it would have been given the time do refine the construction and more importantly the development of a proper fighting style design for this weapons, these take time and resources Ezra Bridge did not really had, under a stable order it would have been another story, but again the weapons is the results of it's time.
It would probably look like Jango's pistols.

I'm not sure if it counts as an unusual design but my favorite is Kanan's lightsaber in Star Wars Rebels.
Kanan had modified his lightsaber so that it could be separated into two parts that he would then place in different spot on his belt, basically camouflage his lightsaber as generic equipment.
This serve the same purpose as a lightsaber cane but Kanan is the only force user I know of that does this.
His lightsaber also had a function to shorten the blade for when he taught Ezra and could also dimish the blade's intensity, going from super hot and devastating to a dull weak beam that barely phase. Usefull when sparing with his apprentice.
Also, his lightsaber has a circular handguard reminiscent to the hand guard on a katana. Though whether this hand guard could actually offer protection is never clarified

Count dooku's curved lightsaber is the coolest imo
The light -Tonfa from the Force Unleashed was a cool design but my favorite would be the saber/blaster hybrid. I'd imagine if it was brought into design before the fall of the Republic the Jedi would've reluctantly adapted it into the ranks of the temple gaurds or those Jedi that went on missions that requires bringing criminals in alive since the blaster fired stun bolts.

IMO, the helicopter effect of the inquisitor blades is pretty dumb. The blades aren't angled in such a way that they would move air, and even if they did, then a tail rotor of some sort becomes necessary. It's got to be the biggest overreach of abilities for any of the blades you outlined.
Allen, you forgot a fact specifically about the lightsabers that Ventress used.
They were not built specifically for Ventress. The blades were originally Komari Vosa’s. Komari used to be a Jedi Apprentice under Count Dooku, after Qui-Gon Jinn but before his defection from the Order.
She fell after failing her Knight trials and fell from the Light, getting involved with and becoming the leader of the Bando Gora. Dooku placed the bounty on her head which was eventually claimed by Jango Fett. This is how he became the template for the Clone Army.
It is unknown when she got these twin lightsaber blades, but they were given to Ventress after she was taken under Dooku’s tutelage as a Sith assassin.

There are some cool light sabers from the high republic you should check out. The 2 that first come to mind are Orla Jareni's hinged double-bladed lightsaber and Stellan Gios' unique cross-guard lightsaber. Glad you featured Vernestra Rwoh's dual function lightwhip/saber though ^_^
In the comics, Plo Koon designed a Light Saber wrist mounted punching Dagger.
Plo Koon is also my favorite Star Wars character and is tattooed on my back playing Dejarik with Chewbacca.

I really like Maris Brood's lightsabers from Force Unleashed. The Wiki calls them Guard Shotos, but essentially they're like tonfas with a blade coming outta one end.
Senya Tirall's lightsaber pike that collapsed is one of my favorites of all time
I'm certainly someone that avoids gimmick weapons, I say keep it simple. Though the curved hilt ones are a solid idea if you like fencing/sabre-styles, the curve's actually *too much* for the job, but I guess they wanted it to show more on screen. (I actually like Ahsoka's design from when she made the ones with the white crystals. It's a good choice for her ni to style. In my case I might go for a bit less curve still, but I think it's the right idea. :) )

It was because Kylo’s crystal was cracked that he used the cross guard; when he bled out the crystal, it broke and made his original sabre unstable so he made the cross guard to divert the unstable power out.

I would have also mentioned during the light pike, the fact that some knights of Zakuul. You showed the clip of Senya fighting a Knight wielding a light pike. Senya's weapon is also a light pike. Just with a collapsible handle, I think that variant is way more interesting.
That lightsaber umbrella could make for a killer rain gear, not to mention keep its user warm.
You forgot the Energy Sword used by the Sangheili race. It is small and compact and held by the fist in one hand. It produces two curved blades that bend into two parallel blades ;)
There's a bunch of awesome designs here, the curved one being a personal favorite. I kinda missed the protosabre however. It's from legends canon and was an early form of lightsabre that required an external power supply. It was connected to a battery pack attached to ones belt via a cable. This limited the range of motion of the sabre somewhat and almost completely fell out of use once technology advanced to the point that the power pack could be made small enough to fit inside the hilt (a Sith invention if I am not mistaken). Some still favored the old design however, using the advancements in power supply technology to create a supercharged blade that was significantly more powerful than the already powerful lightsabre.
Imagine that scene in Phantom Menace where Qui-Gon attempts to melt through a blast door with his sabre. If he had a protosabre he could probably melt through there well before the Droidekas arrived.

I would have a Lightsaber Blaster, but upgrade the power supply so the blaster could be fired _while_ the blade was on.
Cross blades in a duel and fire a stun bolt (so it can't be deflected back) or two into your opponents leg.
Then you can finish them off with your blade. And if no one witnesses it then the body just shows they lost a Lightsaber duel.
This technique is known as _"the way of the cheating fvckin bastard"._
And it's also why even the Sith rejected me.

I feel like the light rifle implies a....not a light machine gun (light as in "not heavy")...a light canon (still light as in "not heavy") that would use multiple sabers at once but each to a lesser degree and thus not burning them out.
Maybe it would need a combining beam like the deathstar and so would be quite heavy but given the canons that galactic commandos lug around in SWTOR, it sounds like an acceptable compromise.
Maybe it could be made lighter by not needing full lightsabers but just the relevant components.
The casings for the sabers would likely not be needed, nor would the blade emitter.
The power could possibly come from a backpack that goes to all crystals at once.
Ezra’s but make it out of light saber resistant material and up the power on the pew pew maybe make it a stun gun I also like the ability to change the length of the saber that can catch people off guard and help against different situation
my darkside saber is a bit unusual, the pummel would be fitted with the fang or horn of a deadly animal for a surprise attack and trophy kill item, and around the emitter would be several blade guards making it look like its coming out of a skeletal claw or something

Cal's lightsaber in the game basically has three different functions the single blade, the double-blade, and the dual wield blades.
I would put Shado Vao's saberstaff lightsaber on this list as it is the only lightsaber that can change HILT length he could switch from a standard lightsaber to a full double bladed saberstaff Hilt in the middle of a fight.
Also small missed detail the Temple Guards lightsabers we're also hilted like pong krell or dark rey lightsabers
I'd like to point out that Senya's lightsaber pike from the Eternal Empire trailers is something similar and may be of interest to you. Though the hilt is more like a collapsible staff, allowing for use as a regular blunt weapon as well as a regular lightsaber. Only noticed one other commenter pointing this out so far

According to splinter of the mind's eye The lightsaber possessed by Luke Skywalker (Anakin's Last Jedi sabre) was also a multi crystal array, And could be fine tuned to a multitude of settings, With a wide variety of lengths and thickness available ( Ranging from standard all the way down to a short wire thin lock breaching tool).
I thought *_for sure_* the Proto Lightsaber would make the list, with its required, large, external (belt worn) power pack, connected by a cable to the hilt (via pommel).
Not so much unusual, in a sense, as it was an early design that soon became obsolete once compact power units were developed... Alas, if the cross-guard gets featured, no reason this shouldn't have, as both were designs that fell out of favor.

The broadsaber, its like a claymore lightsaber, flat as the darksaber.
I think the most notable design would be the original dual blade, created by Exar Kun. Kun was able to use controls in the hilt to variate both the length and the strength of the blade on the fly, enhancing his already deadly skill at lightsaber combat. He could engage in such tactics as appearing to block a blade, but the enemy swinging entirely through the space because he had weakened the power output such that there was visually a blade there, but effectively nothing else, leaving them wide open for a deadly counterattack as Kun returned the blade to full power. Alternatively, he could cause an opponent to underestimate his reach by not extending a blade to full size. As this was also the first of the dual blades, these all combined to allow Exar Kun to leave a smoldering trail of corpses in his wake. A very unique design, especially for it's day, for a very unique Sith.
there is a uniquely designed lighstaber that has a hilt that extends itself to a rather large length, damn near doubling the length of the hilt with ease. this has some practical uses adding more control and leverage during swings and in a blade bind while simultaneously keeping the hilt compact in closer quarters and when storing it on ones belt.

because it combines a blade with a blaster gun
