    Glad to see that Nova being saved! Both of my older brothers had Novas growing up. They were always modifying them. I'm now 42 and it's still my dream to build my own. Life unfortunately didn't go as planned just like everyone else. But some day

    After watching this, I now see the biggest difference between yours and the 74 that I had. Mine was Standard everything. Steering, brakes, shifting....all of it was the basic Standard package. I didn't have AC, either, so mine didn't have the unit taking up space on the Firewall. Being that mine was Standard, I didn't have the wiring nightmare like this one. They may look the same, but that's about it as far as similarities. Just looking at this one, though, brings back great memories for me. Not just memories of the car, but ones of the era as well. This world of today is very different compared to 37 years ago. My biggest memory involves a $20 bill. Back then(1986), I could fill my tank, buy a returnable bottle of Mountain Dew(10 cent deposit), a bag of BBQ Chips and a pack of Winstons and still have change coming back. That same $20 bill won't even get me 1/4 tank of gas today. Shoot, it would barely be enough to get the drink, chips and cigarettes of today. lol

    • @flatbrokegarage
      @flatbrokegarage  11 місяців тому +4

      So true with the $20. I appreciate you following along.

    • @alertgasper
      @alertgasper 11 місяців тому +3

      Funny you mention that, I always kept $20 in mad money because i never had a gas card, but sometimes came home from a sunday road trip and wondered how was i going to afford gas to get home. a twenty in the console pretty much guaranteed getting home and maybe filling the belly until then.
      hope they can also save that 3rd gen cranberry Mustang coupe that was sitting next to the Nova.

    That Toyota Hilux you showed with the tree on it. Don't write that one off those engines are pretty much indestructible. Top Gear showed one they even left overnight in the ocean they hauled it out got the water out of it and they started it right up. Also they parked it at the top of a 12 story building they demolished the frame was twisted but they got that engine to run. Great that the Nova was able to run and drived with the new drive train. Thanks for another fun video.

    A few old grey haired fellas playing with a SBC all that's missing is the moonshine still. I'm guessing it wasn't too far away..lol. Cars in the junk yard are usually there for a reason. It cost more to fix than they were worth at the time. Now 35-40 years later..the value has changed. Most of what I've done is from back yards with parts from the junk yard, now called salvage yards. I'm not sure if you mentioned a title, but its getting much harder to get a title at least here in Texas.

      Thats not true. I owned a Sprit of America Nova and it was defiantly a 1974 hatchback. I am pretty sure that the one in this video is in fact one.

      @bobruffing4387 we actually looked the car up yesterday and it is a SOA nova and it is a 1974. Did yours have white bucket seats with red and blue piping? We are looking around the yard for them

      We worked on the wiring for quite a while (not in the video) and the weather was so bad with rain and freezing rain he just didn't feel safe. I was going to drive his truck back. Sucks... would have been fun

      I was pretty disappointed that I had to do that too. It was definitely the right call though. No wipers, no lights or blinkers, i lost a brake line loading on the trailer and it rained my entire trip home. The work will continue on the Nova and I promise a redemption run/burnout soon. Thanks for watching both channels on this car.
