I’ve been using a similar one for 20 years. Only feeds one side. Have to put the bales on in the correct way and works better with drier bales. Marvellous machine and would be lost without it🙈
Id say you could back in to the back of your double shed and feed both left and right sides . Then pull forward 5 feet and feed left and right again ? You would get both sides fed with no running over fresh silage ? Great video as always !
You followed some great advice on how to unwrap a bale. Turn it slowly is the key and practice makes perfect. I've fed 1000s of bales with another NZ brand, McIntosh. Still have a 28 yr old one that works.
I have had on those Hustlers for 3 years and simply love it ,I have mine on a 12 m tele handler and feed out down a feed passage and also use it to unroll bales in to feeders in lose yards its far safer for the animals to just unroll it whilst there eating rather than trapping them as I had done in the past ,Thankfull didn't kill any but it was near miss
Takes a bit of getting use too, most people that have them tend to love them, would them fastrax’s be fit to handle them 🤔😜 Have a good Christmas guys 👍
Brilliant machine , we’ve one just a year now , working on a 70hp fiat and can’t fault it , takes getting used too allrite but absolutely no wastage with it compared to the bale splitter !
Absolutely brilliant bits of kit are the hustler have had it 11 years .take the wrap off before you put the bale on the unroller then just slice the net across 98% of the time the net unrolls with the first bit of the bale and you can pick it up after unrolling the other 2% it wraps round the bars which is no big deal. Mine has the extended hydraulic elevator which I know is more money but makes it far more versatile.
Tanco bale shear would be the kit Adrian, front end loader to the barrier takes the net and wrap off in one hit and splits the bale in half… no more handling of wraps on them cold winter morning 👌🏻
Seems a lot of work if I’m honest. You would have had two or three bales put out using your own style whilst you spent time setting it up. I love your fairness when reviewing things. 👍
Could you feed left and then right in the one spot, then move on 7 or 8 feet and do the same again as you said it can feed out bale from both sides,By the way again brilliant video.
In terms of th bale splitter if you back into each half of th bale and split it four time in total it makes it handier graped I do it in a double sided shed like u and its a lot handier especially for my grandfather
They take some getting used to alright, your first go went a lot better than mine! Very good machines one you get into the swing of it, and have a wide enough feed passage. Saves a lot of back ache forking.
What you could do if you wanted to buy one is just reverse to the back let some out to the left and then the right and drive forward a bit more and let out some off the left then the right and do that the whole way up and then you wouldn’t have to drive on the the silage
Adrian we have an abbey VF1050 and a shed very similar to yours and have to say it works brilliantly, would highly reccomend and if your thinking theres no need with your pit so close all I'd say is our pit is just as close and we still always use the feeder, much better job
@@IFarmWeFarm I'd say you'd be well able to back in and feed both sides easily especially with the newer model as it's designed better for tight sheds because the doors are put further back and so would get to the back of the shed easily
In the colder months air cooled engines will get condensation inside the motor if they are not worked hard enough to get really hot, if the engine doesn’t get hot enough to evaporate the condensation the oil will go milky, a very common problem with my Honda MSX125 motorbike on a short run to work (just over 3 miles) if I take the long way home about 6 miles the engine gets lovely and warm and the oil is not milky.
Adrian I'd say you should go for a cashels bale shear I bought one and it's some job! Have just ordered a vdw 3pt linkage linkage mixer to do rations in smaller sheds and batches. How do you get on with cattle pulling silage through onto slats ? Do you your chop bales?
No not chopped, yes the cattle do pull a lot in on the slats at times. Don’t think I’d part with the bale splitter any time so in fairness. Love its simplicity 👍
@@paulwhelan2935 have one of them for 5 years on a jcb 526 but it would be too heavy for his Massey but the bale only one would be grand on a tractor loader
That was a great first attempt probably feed a bit one side then other then move forward do the same I think I'd take wrap off first the put over machine still on spikes take net off then lower on to unroller ? Just an idea
Yes that would work, only thing is with these bales you’d have to leave the net on until it’s on the machine cause as soon as you loosen the net the bales just collapses. But it would work will our earlier 2nd cut dry bales 👍
when you power wash the scraper the water gets in the sleeves of the cable and rusts the internal cable causing it to snap i use wd40 with the pipe squirting a load down the end pushing out any water trapped in there after cleaning keeps it lubed and water free
Just saw the start of the video (had to put on peppa pig) but interested to see how the bale unwinder goes for you when I see video later.. Had one myself an IEP one, and found them awkward to use with wet bales and especially if they are a bit flattened from stacking 2-3 high on flat .. I hope you didn't use a nice round dry bale for demo, but will know later when children go to bed ☺️
In your house there Adrian could you not feed out left and then right before ya move down just the length of the machine bed and then stop again & repeat that process again until you've the length of the house done? Is it necessary to keep her moving? I'd say with a bit of finesse and practise you'd do your house with that the finest.
I had the comment typed out about to say it didn’t look suited to your shed because I thought it would only go in one direction 😂 thank god I didn’t post it 😮💨
Just a thought for the narrow passage u mentioned in the video. What if you fed one side then fed the opposite side moved forward fed one side then the opposite an so on?

Good job guntering with the scraper!
great video you do a really fine job of it, we all like them all and very educational too
