From an agriculture extension agent been farming my whole life on a small scale it is refreshing to see a family put their faith in God and trust that the oldest profession in the world with His grace can still and should be done and enjoyed no matter how stressful it will become. New follower here for sure and look forward to seeing Gods blessings on your family, from KY
So many of us are living vicariously through you! Your videos make me laugh, but only because if I did this, I’d be saying “I don’t know” just as much as you! Statistically, you will fail at this, because you will run out of money. But we are rooting for you and your family! Prove statistics wrong!
Watching people learn something is painful, but also awesome when you see them catching on. Much respect for taking the farming plunge without any experience, but when there's a will, there's a way. I just had to learn all of this exact same thing with a planter I bought last year. You're blessed to have the starting capital to play around with, makes mistakes more manageable to deal with, you hook up that planter vacuum motor wrong one time and your hydraulics kick off like that, grenades the motor and its about $1,000 to replace. Once you get used to working on things, trouble shooting comes natural and that will help lessen the trips/bills to the dealership. "Guestimating" what you've spent just in land and equipment, you aren't to worried about profitability at this point, it's called "hobby" farming for a reason. Best of luck in the years to come. 1 Cor 3:7
I’m 27 and have farmed with my family my whole life and this was just so much fun to watch. Realized how lucky I am to have generations before me go through all the learning by them selfs and I can just learn from them. And also the day will come when you smash your finger and won’t even flinch because it will just be part of your life, small cuts and injuries are just part of life and you won’t know where 99% even came from
Farming is a humbling profession . I really believe that is why people were so faithful and believing in God is the past. Families stayed close and more committed to each other as they all attended church and said prayer around the table each night . They were able to see Gods creation and how it provides and also brings challenges . It allows children to experience life and death and how reproduction of the animals teaches them how God intended to be between male and female . Really liked you showing your first tear of learning and adapting to challenges that came before you . And last , I appreciate you ended by thanking the God that allows us all to use his resources to survive and thrive . Thank you .
Please make more of these videos with finances included i want to do this one day and theres not a lot of information about how to thanx so much god bless
What a small world, your video popped up on UA-cam today, I watched it, then as I’m heading to grab something from my Camper in Racine I see your truck and camper heading through Rochester! My wife and I have a couple properties in WI and are working towards starting a small farm someday, we’ve never farmed before but it’s all we want to do for some reason, glad you’re sharing your journey, it’s inspiring!
@Suits2Boots I will be waiting around for updates. The 1 thing I can say though is to make sure your seed bed is really loose. Try and do cross ripping if you can. It will loosen up the ground to about 400mm and will allow for good aeration and will allow the seed's roots to not struggle to find a foothold. Corn is quite easy in my opinion.
This is beyond inspiring and I have so much respect for you and your family. I truly wish you the best in all you do and look forward to seeing more progress! Good luck brother!
I think this was one off the most entertaining and interesting videos i've ever watched. Thank you so much for making this video and taking on farming!
Your channel was randomly suggest to me. Ive watched several of your videos and followed! Love the transparency and overall genuine image. Look forward to more!
Wow! Normally, I overlook content creators who don’t resonate with me, but I stuck with you! I often found myself thinking, “Wow! I wonder if this man should call it a day.” I also pondered how someone perceived as not so bright could achieve so much financially. However, my feelings began to shift during your segment on harvesting. That's when your story captivated me, especially when you broke down cost versus income, income versus profit, profit versus growth, and growth versus God's grace. I was so inspired by your year's achievement that I subscribed and selected to be notified when new videos are posted. You truly showed so many that God's grace is sufficient. Thanks for sharing!
I love how the build is coming along, the only thing i would change is like an hour and a half long episode I wouldn't even care about the wait time, I just like watching the build so much
This guy has some balls of steal. What a true real mean. The fact he put him and his family on this path of life and is committing is respectable. He is learning so much and its great to watch first hand. Suits2Boots will be a great farmer!
your chanel is the real deal i was hoping that i could finde someone whos starting farming from zero. Best thing is i stumbled upon your chanel randomly. Love and strenght from Latvia.
This is reality tv. atleast how it should be done. Amazing video watching you learn and grow throughout the process. From one "figure it out guy" to another. Good stuff.
I was planning on binging all of your videos from the first year, so I really appreciate you putting together this supercut of all of your first year! Looking forward to year 2!
Wow, thanks for following along! There were a couple less “farmy” videos I didn’t include so feel free to check those out too, otherwise stay tuned for more soon. Thanks again!
I have watched the entire show OMG this is so special you give us the valuable information for 4 year in university degrees in just 2 and half hours I really appreciate you man your wife and your kids god bless you and your family you have gained a new Subscribe 🧢 off
Coming from an agriculture community here in the panhandle of Texas, been farming since I was 14 and I’m now 21. Watching your video, man you did an awesome job. I look forward to seeing what other content you put out, really makes me want to start my own farm. Unfortunately where I’m at, you either have a whole lot of money to buy land or you inherit it 🙃.
Great video! As I was watched this video (mind you, I watched the whole thing) I was astonished at your persistence in figuring out solutions to your problems on your own. I congratulate you on your accomplishment, and I look forward to seeing your progress in years to come. God bless you and your family, and I hope this message finds you in good spirit.
Thank you! Some days I feel like quitting, honestly, usually when a piece of equipment doesn’t work properly, or I don’t understand how to operate it, but I try to tell myself it’s just part of the lifestyle. Luckily I’m fairly mechanical, so I battle though repairs. Maybe one day I’ll have some newer equipment that will operate better and it won’t be such a challenge. Thanks for watching!
I have a similar experience, though on a much smaller scale. I'm a software engineer and decided I wanted to learn how to make my own "food", so we bought a 10-acre property and started raising chickens, pigs, and goats. It's a MOUNTAIN of work and we definitely lose money, but the way I see it I'm paying a few thousand dollars/year to learn a valuable skill and have fun with my family. If I ever wanted to do this for a living, then I'd simply change the scale and focus on operations and marketing. Thanks for sharing your story. This was an excellent video. I will admit to being a little bit jealous of your "lets just grow stuff" plan. :D Sure as heck beats traipsing outside several times a day to feed and water everyone.
You got yourself a new follower! It's my dream to become a farmer, i have the knowledge about machines and all, but timing, seeding, cattle etc its like maybe 10% knowledge haha!, and finances are a pain in the ass here as i have no idea where to start! I'm following you now to learn! Thanks for doing this!
Thanks for watching, and subscribing! If I can do it, you can too. I knew absolutely nothing about crop farming, and have much to learn, but anything is figureoutable!
My 37% of total youtube watch time on farming simulator gameplay must have tossed you onto my feed and i'm hooked on your journey. You've gained a loyal subscriber all the way from Africa.
Great video, I loved watching the whole thing. I’m impressed with your aptitude for working things out. Well done. The whole family seems to be enjoying the farm life. Looking forward to see what you do in 2025. From Australia 😄🦘🇦🇺
This is my dream here. Unfortunately not much of this kinda farming in florida. As soon as i can move out im going to find a farm and start farming. Good luck to you, cant wait to see where this goes(and if youll ever get a green tractor lol)
Good on you man, you got it. Your kids will thank you for it for building out some assets for them to inherit and giving them some great memories along the way no doubt. Like one commenter below me said regenerative farming is the way of the future, I don't disagree with him. Your soil will become healthier over time - which will provide you with higher quality crops, better yields, less pests. Having both dairy and arable is the best mix to make this work. I know you got your hands full learning, but look into it in the future if you have time and you're guided to do so. It makes sense. I am sure the good Lord will be with you and your family on this journey, watching and guiding. Wishing you all the best and looking forward to more content.
Thanks for your advice and for watching! Yes, I like the idea of moving toward regenerative farming. It seems complicated and daunting but it makes so much sense to me. Thanks again.
I don't usually watch videos this long - but I have really enjoyed watching this !! I am from the UK, recently purchased a small field myself and I am slowly getting into farming too - (though fruit trees!!). This was a fun video, and I wish you all the best ! I have now subscribed and look forward to following you on your journey. All the best.
Hey, thanks so much for watching and your comments. Congrats on starting your farming journey too! Will you be posting any videos about your experience?
your doing good im learning farming to on a farm by a old farmer and its cool to look how people are intressed in the agri world and i love it lets keep the farmers alive god bless you i love you :D
Hello, I loved your video about your new adventure. I work in agriculture in France. It's really cool to see your start in this field. Really great work for a beginner. Looking forward to seeing your new videos. Goodbye from France!
On most Deere planters, you can combine the “lift” and “marker” plumbing so you only need 1 remote lever to run both functions. In your planter book, it should talk about “automatic” markers. Meaning when you lower the planter, the marker lowers at the same time, with the same lever. Separate hoses and plumbing for the markers is considered “manual“ markers. The book might/should show pictures of how to change the plumbing from your “manual”, to the “automatic” marker plumbing.
My dream is always to own a farm, being from a small country it still surprises me people could buy the land and try living farm life even if not so successful. You got yourself subs
Hey thanks! I’ll tell you unequivocally, If I can do it, anyone can. That’s really the whole reason I’m doing this channel. It’s not easy, of course, but it’s doable. I was a limo driver before starting my previous business, then after 10 years of that was able to move onto farming. You got this! Thanks for watching.
Hey thanks for watching! Awesome to hear about you starting a cattle farm. I’m sure it a lot of work and learning but sounds great. Thanks for tuning in to my stuff as well. More soon
Some days it is overwhelming. Like one step forward and two steps back. But, in my 40 years, my experience has been that anything worthwhile is never easy. So I just keep going. Thanks for watching!
thanks a lot my brother this is beautiful especially on financial part plz on all your videos try to include them so so important and so helpful i want to do farming as well brother i really love farming thanks again for this video all the love from Zimbabwe
Just finishing watching this. I would give my left # to see $6k an acre where I’m at in the upper Midwest. It’s been at least 10 years. I own appx 100 of mixed crop and timber non irrigated I bought at the end of 2010. I cash rent it as it has never really penciled out and it’s only been since the dip in rates when I was able to break even with a refi with the rent. I’ve always wanted to take the leap like you have. Much respect and appreciate the transparency. Beautiful piece of ground…
I read this person’s bio, and being a Muslim, I like he/Christians’ focus so much to soulful things, being grateful to beautiful things around. No wonder Abrahamic religion are different tranches of same tree - love from London ❤
You bet. Looking forward to your future endeavors, I’m a young farmer too. If you ever need any advice with stuff around here feel free, we have a pretty good community out here!
Hello, enjoyed the video and the breakdown at the end. If it were me, I'd put in some sort of man hours cost too as an input. 200 man hours @ x dollars an hour. Your time has value too after all. !
Great point! I’m a little afraid how bad the numbers would be, considering how many hours I spent figuring things out this year, but it’s probably the right way to look at it. Thanks for watching!
Im 14 my dad has 2 tractor and some farm seeds that they grow i wish i had a john deere on a old holland😂 but watching this video it gave me more Motivation❤
I’m 16, planning to be a cop, but I also want to start farming. Something about farming catches my attention, I’ve never farmed in my 16 years of living, but I have played Farming Simulator😂 know the basics I would assume. I love seeing that I won’t be alone on being a first gen farmer, gives me motivation and hope to keep perusing the farming “lifestyle”💯
Dutch dairy farmer here I think forr your first year I think you did great. If your thinking about going organic maby try it on 50/25% off your land first since organic is really dependents on good weather and it’s not black and white and could be diapointing. And for your grass maby get 1/2 good cuts off hay and then rent it too be grazed that’s what we do with our awkward plots get 2 good cuts off hay and then graze it. Definitely gained a subscriber👍
Damn good job on your first year. My one takeaway is be careful going the organic route. I know chemical is expensive and not healthy but it is the only way to kill weeds. The other measures of tillage or anything else won’t work and you’ll lose profit from crop because it will damage the yield in a big way. Hoping the best for 25 will be watching
btw, we have some kind of the same newholand just a number smaler that you have. We doing a lot of Forest work in the winter and in the rest of the year its mixing food for the cows and some other things( its an allrounder at our Farm)
I wonder if you could increase the profit from your pasture lands if you were to bale them? Have you explored that avenue? It’d also help you get ready to have cattle if you kept some for yourself.
Great idea! I suppose I’d need to look at some other equipment but it’s definitely a possibility to make those pastures bring in more revenue. Thanks for the thought and for tuning in!
I went to a Montessori school that taught farming in 7th and 8th grade. This is my dream job. Thinking about having both home inspection and a farm for my income.
Interesting. I am betting when you look back at this you will face palm a good bit. I think making friends with a lot of your neighbors and learn through them as much as possible. You might also be able to contract out on some of the other places around you with your sprayer and planter. Best of luck in the 2025 season.
Oh yes, I already palm to face many times just moments after I do something stupid! Im sure it will happen again. So much to learn and my style is to try it and learn, often the hard way. Thanks for watching!
So I'm almost done with watching this video and I've enjoyed all of it so far. I've gotten to the part were you mentioned not wanting to use chemicals and wanting to look into other more natural methods of controlling weeds. When we used to farm all of our land, we would spray chemicals. However, we have been renting out our own land to other farmers and keeping roughly the same amount you have to ourselves to farm. Now we exclusively farm no-till soybeans. Our spraying rig has been busted ever since we "downsized", but we've found that having rye flown over the field soon after harvest, and using a burn down treatment before planting does extremely well at mitigating the weeds. We tested this in two fields next to each other; both had burndown applied before planting, one had rye and the other did not. The one without rye you could barely see the soybeans, and the one with rye was spotless. We're confident that it works, but just to make sure we've applied rye in the field that didn't receive any last year and we're going to see how it works out. This is Missouri as well, so there's a different climate that maybe the rye won't work, or maybe it won't matter. But a cover crop is definitely something to look into for a more natural way to suppress weeds.
This is great feedback and I appreciate the insight from your actual experience. Cover crops are in the plan for certain. I do want to get away from any chemicals, but sometimes seems like a daunting task especially when considering profitability.
Thanks for the calculations at the end. Really interesting to see. What sorts of measures do you anticipate making to increase profits? Sounds tough but fun to figure that out
Thanks and great question! We plan to move slow….one step at a time. My plan is to convert 20 acres of pasture to tillable this year making our farm go from 80 acres to 100 of crop, and secondly invest in additional equipment, specifically harvest equipment that I won’t need to rent or hire out. My goal is to have the land costs covered each year (successful in year 1) and keep my lifestyle relatively the same (time/location freedom) which means no livestock, and then over time increase profit if possible. Thanks for watching and stay tuned!
The last 3 minutes put a cherry on top of the whole 2 1/2 hours! Jesus is the way! Now I am excited to follow your awesome family and farm experience. Keep trusting in Him, He always provides! Phil. 4:19.
Amazing video. Had a look though it and thats the hard part with farming. The first eight years your not going to make much money, but if you stick with it, its like any property its going to go up in value. Then with the rancher renting the open field, lots more potential profit. Also didnt see anything about good debt like a loan to get started.
Where were you when I needed you! I should have done that! Honestly, I thought about it but then wondered if forcing it would cause damage. Who knows? Thanks for watching!
Yall randomly popped up on my feed and instantly became my favorite channel.
Wow! Thanks for that, and for following along!
Same thing :)

Yoyo Spencer Hilbert has a good video on all $ spent and returned on his 40 acres I believe it is. From land, interest all inputs and returns. .👍🏼

Great video, regards from Argentina!!!
Wow! Thanks for watching all the way from Argentina!
Thank you! I will do this!
I love when he says “I think” I do that all the time to when I think I’m right about something it’s so relatable 😭 😅
I hadn’t realized I did that! Funny! Thanks for following along!
Considering you started from zero, as you mentioned, you did a great job. Congrats
Hey thanks! Wasn’t sure really what to expect so I feel pretty happy about how it ended up. On to 2025!
That was a unbelievably well done video
Coming from a farmer 😉
Well thanks! Appreciate you watching and commenting
My dream is always to own a farm, being from a small country it still surprises me people could buy the land and try living farm life even if not so successful. You got yourself subs

This is pretty cool. I’d love to see how the farm progresses over the years
More to come. We’ll be doing some fun things in 2025. Thanks for watching along!
You are currently living my dream haha hopefully one day i can be in a similar position to you but best of luck and thanks for the great video
My girlfriend and I just started our own little cattle herd, so we’re also learning as we go. Love this channel!
Hey thanks for watching! Awesome to hear about you starting a cattle farm. I’m sure it a lot of work and learning but sounds great. Thanks for tuning in to my stuff as well. More soon
only 16:47 far in but a greenhouse on that concrete pad where the house you tore down would be sick
Great idea!
This dude is playing farming sim irl. So interesting. Randomly popped up on my feed and I'm here for it.
Thanks for checking it out!
I love your video! I'm hoping to become a farmer when I get older.
Hey that’s awesome. You can do it! Thanks for watching!
you are very patient brother, I would loose my nut having to sort all dat shit out
Some days it is overwhelming. Like one step forward and two steps back. But, in my 40 years, my experience has been that anything worthwhile is never easy. So I just keep going. Thanks for watching!
Thanks for this nice video. in particular the last few minutes.
Thank you for watching!
no dig no till regenerative agriculture,no chemicals, its the only way build biomass world wide web soil❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Thanks, and appreciate you watching!
Most bags you can pull the thread at top to your right side as you look at the front if the bag to open the sewn seam.
You discovered that...

thanks a lot my brother this is beautiful especially on financial part plz on all your videos try to include them so so important and so helpful i want to do farming as well brother i really love farming thanks again for this video all the love from Zimbabwe
Thanks for watching all the way from Zimbabwe! I will continue to talk about the financials for total transparency. If I can do this, anyone can.
Thanks for sharing and following along!
I read this person’s bio, and being a Muslim, I like he/Christians’ focus so much to soulful things, being grateful to beautiful things around. No wonder Abrahamic religion are different tranches of same tree - love from London ❤
Thanks for watching!
I knew those hills looked familiar, welcome to our neighborhood man. Good luck. Hopefully everything works out for you!
Thank you!
Im 14 my dad has 2 tractor and some farm seeds that they grow i wish i had a john deere on a old holland😂 but watching this video it gave me more
Motivation❤
Awesome! Glad to inspire you! That’s the whole reason I’m doing this channel, so stay tuned for more.
Very cool man! You can do it. The little things done consistently over time….and you’re there. Thanks for watching!
Hey, thanks for your thoughts and advice. Very much appreciated. And thanks for subscribing! More to come soon.
thank you for the cost breakdown, super helpful!!
You’re welcome!
Hey thanks for your thoughts and for watching!
Hello, watching from germany right now ✌🏼❤ Im learning farming right now(17yo) i enyojed your video realy and hope there is comming more stuf ❤❤✌🏼🥳
btw, we have some kind of the same newholand just a number smaler that you have. We doing a lot of Forest work in the winter and in the rest of the year its mixing food for the cows and some other things( its an allrounder at our Farm)
So cool to hear your watching from the other side of the globe! More content to come soon!
Very cool. So far the tractor has worked great!
Yes, you have to plate the inner rows first and then the outer rows.
Thank you!
I went to a Montessori school that taught farming in 7th and 8th grade. This is my dream job. Thinking about having both home inspection and a farm for my income.
That sounds like a great plan! Very cool you learned in school. Thanks for watching!
bro is doing real life hay day and I love it
This is my dream! Start farming from scratch with minimal knowledge and slow improve with the help of technology. Can you hire me? 😁😁🤣🤣
lovely channel!
Thank you so much!
@Suits2Boots i respect the stick to it Ness.
Nice video thanks for documenting it
You bet! Thanks for watching! Stay tuned for more.
I do want to get away from any chemicals, but sometimes seems like a daunting task especially when considering profitability.
cant wait to see the vid next year :)
Stay tuned. 2025 farm plan video coming soon
Phil. 4:19.
Thanks for watching and for your kind comments. Welcome to the channel!
Amazing video. Had a look though it and thats the hard part with farming. The first eight years your not going to make much money, but if you stick with it, its like any property its going to go up in value. Then with the rancher renting the open field, lots more potential profit. Also didnt see anything about good debt like a loan to get started.
Thanks for watching! No, we don’t do operating debt. We finance the operation ourselves.
48:00 Top of Bag on 1 Side, should be a hanging String. Pull the String to Open Bag
Yeah that took me a couple tries to figure out but eventually i got it! Thanks for watching and adding value!
1:06:38 the fluid is getting super hot there from the flow being restricted causing friction
i cant be the only one who was thinking just ziptie that lever that kept popping out lol
Where were you when I needed you! I should have done that! Honestly, I thought about it but then wondered if forcing it would cause damage. Who knows? Thanks for watching!
How're the wind and solar there 😁 just thinking of additional means you could do alongside.
The wind is intense at times. We’ll have to consider it! Thanks!
