It just comes down to what is the "magic number" Ubisoft says that "magic number" is 100 or 150 Million, but then there are already been like a dozen Quadruple A games. Most Publishers don't want to announce how much money they have spend up-to or including "marketing"
The Games I only judge by one metric how much did I like it (or in some cases dislike it). The budget, scope, size of the game are not key metrics that matter for me. Here is the question: taking into consideration that spider-man 2 cost roughly 3x as much as the first one is it 3x better game? I would say no. At the same time I played number of smaller, shorter games which I really liked. I suspect done on lower budget but for some the cost of making the game was not public.

Ubisoft missed the entire point of why we enjoyed Black Flag. We didn't play it just for the ship battles. It was the fact that it was the first pirate themed Assassin's Creed game where you COULD command the ship and also get off the ship and board other ships in hand to hand combat. Because it was still Assassin's Creed. They were better off just making a Black Flag II, and yeah maybe it would have been critizied for being more Black Flag, but bigger or whatever, but I think it would have faired better than this crap...

I love how nobody remembers the assassin's Creed Black flag mobile game that came out a long time ago and it was actually pretty good It was a separate storyline and everything and had pretty decent graphics for the time
Riot games is imo 4A studio and the league of legends universe is 4A. since it kinda did what fortnite did, they involved multiple other style of games into their lore and universe, team fight tactics, legends of rune terra hell they made one of the first actual good game adaptations on netflix, they made kpop bands (kda, heartsteel) with hundreds if millions of views etc Imo the biggest game that transcended beyond A or AA game is minecraft now that i think about it

If you were bummed out by Callisto Protocol not living up to the legacy of Dead Space, the DLC still won't reach the same expectations, but it comes damn close.

There are lots of first party fps games that Xbox have now specially after ABK deal. I think if Perfect Dark being a game like Deus Ex is the best choice. I wished they'd make it a third person game but it being an immersive sim (not as complex as the first Deus Ex but rather like the later ones) is a good choice to have as a 1st party game.
I think AAAA is used as a marketing tactic word buzz to get people that's into video games, excited, as well as to get investors to invest in it more. Star Wars Outlaws definitely isn't, nor is Skulls & Bones. Seeing one comment mentioning Halo Infinite, that definitely isn't either. I don't think AAAA is a thing.
The only game I even consider to be AAAA is Star Citizen. Controversies aside, its promises are very ambitious and look to be promising. They just need to get server meshing down, and the development speed will speed up.

The Callisto Protocol seemed like a classic victim of publisher greed, but I'm not so sure after how Schofield talked about the 3-month cut in development. 3 months could surely let them polish some bugs and basic mechanics, but if wouldn't change anything about the awful combat and lackluster story. It wouldn't turn the game into a survival horror instead of the weird hack'n'slash shooter we got. It would still be a 6/10 mess and a disappointment for Dead Space fans.

Skull and Bones is a perfectly fine game. The AAAA moniker is moronic, but the amount of hate the game gets is stupid. It's perfectly fine, it plays well, looks great, and while the player base is um, not great - you can still find people on the high seas here or there to either join up with or fight against if you want. The story, as it is, is alright I suppose. The gameplay is ok, nothing special. But again, it's a Black Flag DLC turned into a full game, that's "fine". I would say the AAAA tag being used for it - is probably because Ubisoft spent HALF A BILLION BUCKS on it more than anything about the game itself. Other than Witcher 4 and Beyond Good and Evil 2 etc. using the AAAA thing, I mean publishers are in it to make money. I get it. It sucks for us the users and players, but I get it unfortunately.
I'd say the only AAAA game is Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth. Full on exploration, lots of interesting side quests, an absolute shitload of minigames, and so many lootable grenades you can singlehandedly destroy the entire economy of costa del sol. Everything else that self-proclaims being AAAA? Scam.

The Callisto Protocol gives the player a bit too much power to truly be a horror game. The game sure is ok, but having the ability to smack a zombie to death with shock sticks and stuff with a PASSION just doesn't exactly say horror, more says action horror. Not exactly dead space, more dead space 3.

It wouldn't turn the game into a survival horror instead of the weird hack'n'slash shooter we got. It would still be a 6/10 mess and a disappointment for Dead Space fans.

Callisto protocol wasn’t all that bad but it could’ve been soooooo much better. I mean, I’m not saying it was necessarily good, I just don’t think it was quite as bad some ppl make it out to be. Really bummed me out how mid it ended up being

Skull and Bones is a perfectly fine game. The AAAA moniker is moronic, but the amount of hate the game gets is stupid. It's perfectly fine, it plays well, looks great, and while the player base is um, not great - you can still find people on the high seas here or there to either join up with or fight against if you want. The story, as it is, is alright I suppose. The gameplay is ok, nothing special. But again, it's a Black Flag DLC turned into a full game, that's "fine". I would say the AAAA tag being used for it - is probably because Ubisoft spent HALF A BILLION BUCKS on it more than anything about the game itself.
Other than Witcher 4 and Beyond Good and Evil 2 etc. using the AAAA thing, I mean publishers are in it to make money. I get it. It sucks for us the users and players, but I get it unfortunately.

I would say GTA 6 is a AAAA game since it cost between 1-2 billion dollars.
I'd say the only AAAA game is Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth. Full on exploration, lots of interesting side quests, an absolute shitload of minigames, and so many lootable grenades you can singlehandedly destroy the entire economy of costa del sol. Everything else that self-proclaims being AAAA? Scam.

The Callisto Protocol gives the player a bit too much power to truly be a horror game.
The game sure is ok, but having the ability to smack a zombie to death with shock sticks and stuff with a PASSION just doesn't exactly say horror, more says action horror.
