Easy solution for necro soul shards is to make them like deadeye's malice only green.
so the Sun themed Guardian spear skills are inspired by Kodan and not the SunSPEAR

They already established that spellbreakers were based off sunspears snapping the spear heads off and using them as anti magic daggers. This isn't an elona expansion too so it would be kind of weird to bring sunspears to Janthir. But there's still nothing to stop you from role-playing as if you are a sunspear I guess.
13:03: Totally agree, they'll need a solid system for keeping track of soul shards on Necro. Having a Soul Shard UI indicator above your HP bar would be ideal. Even with a ton of practice, it's easy to lose track of Ele bullets during a big chaotic fight. There's too much graphical clutter. Even though Ele bullets appear on the buff bar, they're tiny icons, they get lost/moved around. Anytime the player has to squint/look around at multiple places on their screen just to perform a basic rotation - that's not fun or intuitive.
yea they could do what they do with theifs malic stacks. where it shows the malice stacks above ya hp
but since thats tied to a profession and not a weapon, that might be why they didnt do it with ele pistol etc

Ranger spear looks really fun! I like the idea of the hybrid ranged/melee auto chain. Wonder what other classes will share that feature. *prays in rev main*
The raining spears on the guardian looks exactly like Templar shards in ESO
If Revenant channeling Archemorius does not have the hardest-hitting ability in the game I will riot. It is in sooo much of the lore how deadly Archemorius was with the spear, they NEED to do this right

Necro soulshards sounds pretty fun i played DH in wow it sounds very similar, but they have to place it on the UI somehow otherwise it will be annoying to track your soulshards. An easy way would be take the mesmer system, reskin it to fit necro in colortheme i just really hope they will do that!

Considering that the new weapons that came with SoTO didn't really have any new animations, I really love these.
Already i'm thinking of using Guardian or Necro for their spear skills alone this expansion.
Guardians last two weapons (if these turn out as good as they look) have COMPLETELY revamped how I view the class. Willbender is so much fun with a ranged option, Firebrand too, and this brings much needed complexity to a class that otherwise has had pretty simplistic weapons.
Also, the added mobility and an alternative power melee option for Necromancer is gonna be so fire.
8:17 The helmet skin is called the Air-Filtration Device. It’s a land helmet that looks like an aquabreather.
I mainly play medium armor classes so I’m just hoping spears for those classes add more condition damage as I enjoy Condi builds
Hope it fits my Reaper GS. I rarely switch to my secondary but I think Spear might be something that fits.

I got byped seeing the aegis, i wish they maybe reworked a trait to allow them to use shield and spear
it would really nice for the soul shards to show up like either Deadeye malice or virtuoso daggers. both are generally readable (minus the annoyingly slow animation on malice stacks coming in), so either of those systems would be nice! On another note, I guffawed rather heartily at the thought of a norn going THIS SPEAR'S BITE IS STRONG, and cutting to an asura taking precise measurements with a calibrated pressure gage

Hoping we get an overhaul of the boons section of the UI with this patch. With the suffused icons added down there I had 5 icons behind my mini map at one point today. It's a little bit out of hand.
Those three looks like fun. I missed the information if the weapon is power or condition based. Hopefully the mesmer spear isn’t a let down like the rifle. :(

All I want to see is Elementalist/Engineer/Thief. Do we get another one today? Or, we get one more next Thursday, then the last three on Thursday the 20th, then 1 week from that is open beta. Hope I don't gotta wait that long to see.

I hope they do something different for soul shards than ele bullets, even the symbol on the buff bar is hard to track with as many boons and conditions as we have active (or really I'd want a rework of the boon bar).

Wow, they made the ranger spear specifically for me. I already try to fight and build my ranger power and rapidly switching between ranged and melee
So far ranger is the winner in this post, throwing spear at enemy, leaping in, stealthing, auto melee attack, using other skills.....gonna be so fun and stylish =D
Not really ranger is lacking so much unless you go soulbeast or untamed and rely on glass cannon 1shot builds. Stealth is THE LAST THING ranger needed. What in the actual fuck

I’m a Guardian main but my ranger friends are eating GOOD with those animations. Can’t wait to heal/tank with a spear in raids.
I'm hoping elementalist gets a different threat range for each attunement with the spear.
The announcement of Spears has made me realize I have placed a mental block on myself to only play condi ranger and nothing else, as I'm sitting here praying that there's some bleed or poison on these skills.
For necro 2 they can just put a number of charges on the ability box
I wish profession-specific buff icons, like mace ranger's Nature's Strength, were a unique color and looked different depending on how many you have stacked. For example, if the max number of these Soul Shards is 6, then if you only had 3 then only half of the icon would be visible. As you built up the buff, then more pieces of the icon would be added, and maybe at the max stacks it would have a slightly different border or color. That way you can quickly check and register how many you have with just a glance, instead of straining to read the tiny white number against a white symbol, which is on an icon thats the same shade of light blue as all the utility buffs on the same bar. Ugh.
Hereby I propose we call land-spears lance to avoid confusion.

So I used your referral code last night to get the Janthir expansion... I think... How do I know if it worked or not? The first page it went to had an obvious code on it, but as soon as I went to any of the purchase pages, it just looked like a normal URL.
Sadly there is no way to confirm it. The referral system could definitely be better in that regard, but I'm still grateful for what they have set up for us.

If the ranger's spear is thrown, then I know that I'm going to enjoy it. Hopefully ele gets a ranged spear as well; for a range-oriented class, ele has only staff as 1200 range weapon, and its support skills are..... mediocre. If they get the 1200 range spear, that would be awesome.
My thoughts are I hope Elementalist gets a ranged power weapon.

Man, i wished they didn't give spears to every class, fine for some, but there are other weapons that could have implemented. Maybe they do so down the line, another xpac maybe? Looking forward to warfists or tonfas, hell, maybe even more gunblades/ gunscythes.
Technically warriors already have gunsabers...

I worry about Guardian a little, sounds a little like rev scepter, too many conditions need to be met for it to do anything, I dont find that fun. Even the ignition on pistol gets old really fast when you have to move. Rev scepter might be the worst weapon they ever designed honestly.

Come to think of it, the ancient Greeks, Persians, Romans,...even medieval soldiers routinely used spears with shields - So should it really be a 2-handed weapon?
I think the idea is this gives them much more space to give more fleshed out mechanics to each profession. A one handed, 3 skill addition to someone like Ranger just doesn't spice things up enough to justify the cost of the expansion if you're looking for only new weapons.

i did, MOAR POWER WEAPONS on reaper (and every profession), imho sword was a bit of a let down with the flip versions.
@@VictorSnider i went there and expressed how im hyped for this being a power weapon.
There is no such thing as a melee condi option, since Scepter can be casted IN melee range AND is not affected by projectile reflect.

Yeah i was disappointed too. Like I don't hate power necro, im even playing one using all the lifesteal it's a fun playstyle, but gosh I was really hoping for condi... What makes me hope is that reaper can maybe use it as condi weapon because of the chill? Like maybe it has chill on auto attack? We'll see
I was really stoked for Guardian spear.. Then the horrbile word that is knockback was uttered.. AoE knockback is one of the worst things in the game from a pve perspective. Especially on a skill that seems to be essential in powering up other moves..
Guardians should get the spear and then automatically take 30% bonus damage from rangers. This is a fair and balanced take from me and I am in no way biased against any guardians.

Glad my Ranger can finally get her preferred weapons; Bow and Polearm. Yes, I know spear is technically different from polearms, but I don't expect a game company that can't tell the difference between a rifle, a blunderbuss, and a flintlock to manage that; there will be plenty of polearms spear skins.
For a two handed weapon, all the characters shown spend a lot of time with only 1 hand on the weapon. NOT how to use a polearm correctly.
