Can I ask what you mean by during Janthir Wilds. Isn't it an expansion? You are saying it like it ends. Like, Heart of Thorns is an old expansion but it still runs.
With Arena Net's 1 Year expansion cycle model they've adopted, I was simply framing the video in a "This is how much you can earn with your new homestead from day 1 to the day the next expansion releases". You're entirely correct, it's still going to be around, it was just a literary timeframe.
You do NOT need the krait obelisk shard to upgrade quartz crystals, you can do it for free at hero points in pretty much any map. Laurels are worth almost 1 gold each, and they also unlock a lot of exclusive skins and other valuable stuff, counting them as 0 value is a bit weird. I feel like the intention of the video was good, but it's very misleading in some parts.
I appreciate your comment, and this has been brought up multiple times. This video definitely taught me a lesson about more widely considering every single possible variable in how people perceive things differently than I do, and I need to do a better job of accounting for that and also just explaining myself. The only thing laruels are needed for I also point out are available entirely for free during festival of the four winds (Which was coming up when I made this, and is currently out) or available via an achievement (in case of the Krait Obelisk) which is one reason I didn't even think to count the cost. As far as the Krait obelisk in general, if you notice I never specifically say anywhere that you need it to make the charged quartz crystals. The use-case is that it just makes your daily round faster, but by failing to actually say that as well, I failed people who don't know that already. I also discussed with someone a while back in the comments that I fundamentally don't view using other currency as "Gold loss" and don't measure opportunity cost like that in my daily play. If I have karma, I'm spending karma. I'm not thinking about the gold I could make from that karma and saying "Well if I buy this minipet I'm spending 27 gold" or anything like that outside of extreme circumstances. I appreciate your time in watching the video & the thoughtful comment.
I will definitely look at doing this in the future, though with my schedule I make no promises lest I disappoint you. When you say text do you mean like a word or excel type doc kinda thing?
Either I have not understood your info or I am worried by your methods of calculating values- what value did you put on the laurels needed for buying Quartz crystal nodes and Krait node? You state trophy shipments give 2.5 gold ish average but have you included the loss of 1 gold to buy. The Krait node does nothing that other Hero Points don't do free of charge. I am not convinced that your living season 3/4 nodes have had the gold value of using the unbound/volatile magic required to buy included. I found the payback cost/time of 3 volatile gypths unclear (or missing?). Like I say either I am slow on the uptake (quite possible|) or you are misleading folks.
Hello friend! I think we just communicate and look at things differently. differently, and I'm just a human, as are you, so I definitely am not immune to making oversights in math or communication. let me try to clear some things up, definitely don't want you to feel like I've misled you or anyone else cause that's certainly not what I spent 15+ hours trying to do with this video! To start with a clear one, I definitely could have explained clearer, but we can see at 10:20 in the video we're earning 82,125-129,575 in 365 days. Trophy shipments are 250, so thats 328 to 518 Trophy shipments in a year. If we multiply that by 1.5870 (1G, 58S, 70C) or 1.8293 (1G, 82S, 93C) , we get 520.536 to 947.5774 (I did some rounding up in my final math). To your point, your comment from two hours ago why the range is different despite the prices not being correct -That's because my final range I show ALSO accounts for the volatile magic variation, not only the price variation. Because there's 2 variables working together. So the lowest value, the 520.536 is minimum volatile magic and minimum average drop, and the highest value is the maximum volatile magic and maximum drop, because that's the full range of variability. I hope that clears that up. As far as the Krait Obelisk node, you are correct. The krait node does nothing that other hero points don't do. at 1:33 I say that it does nothing on its own, other than creating a hero point in your home instance. To me I felt that was clear enough that it's just a convenience thing, though I do see how I could have been clearer on it. I put zero value on the laurels needed for buying Quartz Crystal/Krait node, because they're available entirely free with some effort since Festival of the Four Winds. And even if you did buy them, I don't look at laurels as gold, they're a byproduct of playing that can be turned into gold or other items, so I wouldn't gold cost them out. The reason for magic not being costed out is that I've always looked at currencies aside from gold as opportunity cost, not the gold value of that currency, so it never crossed my mind to really even factor them in. While gold you typically have to do some sort of selling or converting to make a reasonable amount, you just get things like Laurels or Magic for playing the game. To put it in a more direct example - To me the griffon mount costs 250 gold, because I spend 250 gold to get the things to unlock it. To me the skyscale has unavoidable costs of (on a quick google search here, it's been a while) 41 Gold mandatory. But it also costs 250 of each LWS4 currency. I've never even looked at the skyscale as costing the gold value of all those currencies plus the gold. it's just not how I see the game. I can understand that you may see it that way, and I can definitely see I could have been a bit clearer in saying "I am not calculating that cost here". I did not give a final range of how long to pay back volatile tools as I looked at it and realized there are too many variables for me to give any meaningful cost to repayment. You'd have to look at gem cost, gold cost, whether the tools were on sale, what the sale prices of the tools could be, how many nodes are harvested per day, etc. I simply gave the sample of how much you'd average in a year of only home instance node farming, and the total price of the glyphs if purchased from the TP. That being said, I do in my final walkthrough of all the profits, lay out exactly what ranges of Unbound/Volatile magic, specifically say what gold values I am using in calculating during each step. Then at 13:17 I specifically give the Gross gold earned from unbound and volatile, and state that they cost 600 Gold, which reinforces that I costed out 50G per unbound, 50G per volatile, and 50 for the eternal ice. I laid out every calculation in text and verbally so even if we disagree on whether I should have used the opportunity cost of magic you need to farm, I definitely don't think anything about my video would be misleading. If I hadn't shown exactly how I did all the math, I would agree its misleading. But not only did I give a 15 minute long video with visual examples of what it all costs, I showed how much it returns you 1 day and a 365 day period, so any of it can be reverse engineered by anybody. Like I said, I think we just look at the same information differently. There's a lotta people on this planet and we don't all think the same. I thought I did an effective job in communicating all the information clearly, but based on your two comments, I could have done a better job and will keep that in mind for my future videos. Thanks for your time.
@@syzxgamingx Thanks for taking the time for explaining. While not counting the cost of laurels/magic is one valid way of looking at it (they're a byproduct of playing- is that not true of gold too, so should we discount that? ;)), it is what is known as a opportunity cost. Each living world 4 node costs 50g which you consider, however the 10k magic which is not in your calculations could buy instead 40 trophy shipments, if we multiply that by per profit of 1.5870 (1G, 58S, 70C) or 1.8293 (1G, 82S, 93C) the cost of the magic is 63.5G to 73.2G which is noticeably more than the straight 50G of the 50G 10k magic you consider in your calculations. Similarly laurels are worth on average at present (Light Crafting Bag) 93 s 60 c. So for the 25 laurels required for quartz node that is 23.4G extra cost above the 15G you consider. Fast farming website also has the ROI data at fast.farming-community.eu/gathering/home-nodes . Thanks for the video though, it is very good at showing how good home nodes can be.
So … is your personal house going to act as one more home instance? Or a separate item. So you can purchase a second set of nodes? … otherwise to the players who already has the nodes in their home instance, you are simply offering a different location in which to harvest what you already have. ( I am hoping the new home offers the ability to find furniture recipes in the world a la ESO, craft them and place them to your satisfaction. That will be a satisfying point of difference.)
At this point the language they used in the article was just an alt location essentially, rather than a second set. They haven't really revealed much additional yet but it definitely seems some type of customization is on the way. I think they're finally giving us the home instance update we wanted but wanted to centralize it rather than make different ones for each race. I'm hoping we can make it feel like our home cities a bit more.
Not a second set just a alternative location to go get them. I believe from what they say that homestead will have a guild type place furniture/feature item system.
I thought they said it wasn’t going to be like the current home instance. Everyone is assuming it will be a customized home instance but no where does it say that. Pretty sure they also said it would be different from the home instance. I’m at work so I can’t source my info.
@@FreelanceDubs "The Homesteads feature is unlocked and developed through an associated Mastery line as a place to express yourself, share space with your friends, and access nodes and unlockable resources from your personal story home instance" Is from the original announcement of Janthir Wilds post on the website, which is where I sourced talking about personal home instance nodes converting to the Homestead. As far as customized, that's true that they didn't say it as far as fully customized, but they also say "your own homestead, an account-wide personal instance with a structure and land for you to decorate and cultivate" so I think that's everyone having HOPE that they wouldn't taunt us with some actual personalization and then just make it like, checkboxes. At the very least I'd expect guild-hall style decorating, but I hope for more.
I can't find that information anywhere. Are you referring to 300 provisioner tokens needed, which you *can* use charged quartz crystal for? If so, I highly recommend using much cheaper options rather than charged quartz crystal
Why does this video has so many dislikes? 550 likes and 120 dislikes. Did he say something wrong, or is just people mad at him disclosing "money secrets"?
Those 'return dislikes' plugins don't work accurately. At the time of my reply the video has 51 dislikes according to my official analytics, in full transparency. Many people in the comments didn't like my lack of calculating the volatile magic used to purchase the nodes into the profit calculations, as I view any non-gold currency I use in this (and other games) as, not gold, therefore not worth calculating into the gold values of things. It's a difference in opinion in looking at virtual currencies. That's my best guess for where many of the dislikes came from.
Yeah kinda sucks, they are updating the guild halls with this new tech, they could do the same with the old home instances, just give the basic options, and leave the advanced stuff for the expansion, give people a "taste" of what they can get with Jantir Wilds.
If the trophy return is on average 2G 58S to 2G 82S then why is the average return over a set number of days 521G 32s to 948G 12S - why has the ratio of max to min average changed. Even if the 1G cost to buy the trophy is subtracted for 1G 58S to 1G 82S profit then the ratio over your set number of days still does not have the same max to min ratio. EDIT, extra info provided by Syzx (thanks) that ratio is effected on the time data by the extra variability of the volatile magic harvesting by glyph tools.
i'd suggest just play the game everyday for 6 months straight, take those mats and gold collected to then craft a legendary ( see which sells the most and are most expensive) then craft legendary and sell it.(of course leveling up crafting profs while you play everyday) and live off that profit for the next couple of years. being able to flip higher more expensive things allows you to make more money off 1 investment. I made Twilight in my first 6 months sold it and lived off that profit for the next decade! as well as making a 2nd twilight in the next 6 months and owning my first legendary. Plus its way easier to craft legendaries once you have the profit from another sale.
As far as charged quartz crystal, it's a specific to home instance node drop. Can find it here: wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Quartz_Crystal_Formation I also never said it turns into 25 per day, or even that you get 8 per day. I lay out the exact daily range, mention the chances of both additional drops. I say at 1:00 how exactly you typically make a charged quartz crystal, and that the base value of all 25 crystals you need is 80 gold. at 1:40 I say you need 25 quartz crystals, and lay out the base value of 80 silver once again. Nothing to bust here. I actually heavily under-value the quartz crystal node in my calculations because I never actually added any of that into the profit generation, I just assumed a generation of 1 charged quartz crystal per day made by *purchasing* the quartz crystal needed. So my math in this video is actually intentionally under what it would be, so I didn't overestimate any numbers.
plus if yer talking about rare recipes most dont have are you subtracting the cost of the recipes or pretending they are free when u get it from a drop. if most dont have recipe this guide fails for most. simple as that.
There are two recipies. The step by step one for the pearl handcannon is not rare, just need 400 huntsman, and then its either 25k karma or 8 silver. In my profit calculation at 2:13 on screen for that that the base materials cost 2G 96S 47C and add in the 1G 60S quartz crystal cost to make the two charged quarts crystals (80 silver, doubled) and show the sell price of the item that requires two quartz crystals. If you subtract those material prices from the sell price, you get the profit after all costs are considered. (Again assuming you paid for the quartz to make the charged quarts) and then you divide that profit in half, because it takes two crystals, and you get how much each crystal is worth. At 2:31 I clearly say "If you use buy order pricing for the raw materials, and sell listing price for the output, you can make something like the Commander's Pearl Trident for 10 and a half gold profit." so yes, that is also subtracting the cost of the materials. The recipe is not purchased. I never go into that because there are literally 0 on the trading post, only buy orders. If you did somehow buy one for the current buy order pricing it 1G 66S so it's not even much. It's not really about pretending they're free, it's about the fact that I never said to buy it, I said IF you have the recipe.

I appreciate your time in watching the video & the thoughtful comment.
how tha fuck do I get so much unbound/volatile magic to buy all the nodes ._.
It would be great if you were to put this into text content so that it is easier to follow and track over time.

@@syzxgamingx huh, that's so weird. Kudos for your reply, very good work on your part, thank you very much!
Where do you take volatile magic? Sorry but you are hard to understand
As far as cashing in for profit? The Rally Provisioner south of the Blood Keep Waypoint, in Grothmar valley is an easy location.
So it’s just going to be a customizable hut instead of letting us change our home instances up? I like living in my home city as a plant 😭
That is, indeed, what it sounds like. Much like Dungeons, home instances in capital cities seem to have been left back in 2012 lol
Yeah kinda sucks, they are updating the guild halls with this new tech, they could do the same with the old home instances, just give the basic options, and leave the advanced stuff for the expansion, give people a "taste" of what they can get with Jantir Wilds.
all those easy to collect EXCEPT the gold part.

Galaxy brain is doing both because then you have passive profits and active profits :)
0:00 - 0:55 I've never gotten charged crystals from the quarts node , so how does 8 quartz crystals magically turn into 25 each day? busted!
As far as charged quartz crystal, it's a specific to home instance node drop. Can find it here: wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Quartz_Crystal_Formation
I also never said it turns into 25 per day, or even that you get 8 per day.
Why does everything have to be about money and maximizing efficiency, man? Don't we have to put up with that shit enough in life?
It's not. The overwhelming majority of my content I make isn't about efficiency or money. It's what you've chosen to engage with.
