I would reccomend to simplify the understanding of chrono. Shatters isnt the only source of quick/alac you also give it when creating a phantasm. So i would recommend just remembering the rotation and then just pressing f keys when you have full illusions, with that you will always end up with 100% boonuptime.
@@mustakragen6103 Others too. When I was learning to keep the boons up I had all phantasm skills I could get on the tility bar. Notice after a while Muk had excess of 20 seconds of quickness, that's because he was getting it both from summoned phantasms and shatters.
This is why I like bringing Phantasmal Disenchanter as a utility, instead of another utility. More phantasms means an easier time keeping boons. Not to mention the boon removal and extra clones after the phantasms turn. Also I'm flexible with changing wells to whatever is needed.
Here are my chrono tips if you are trying to learn the rotation without a cranial explosion: - don't worry about continuum split, using that one properly comes after you are no longer sweating bullets in normal rotation - if you always shatter with at least two clones, you will still get something like 85% boon uptime, don't stress over it too much - both GS 2 and dagger 2 skill give you one clone instantly, the rest take some time, use this knowledge for a quick top up and to not waste the skill cast - you are a mesmer and don't have to take damage (f4 shatter), use this for revives and as a panic button (reviving your healer straight from under the giants in Harvest temple is a hell of a drug) - chrono trait tree gives you a passive movespeed buff, if there is a thing to carry, you should go for it If you are really worried about letting your team, your grandma and your dog down with 99% quickness, get yourself a boon duration amulet or accessories and you will be able to easily patch up that boon duration. This is extremely unnecessary, though.
For the boon uptime problem, personally I would use Phantasmal DIsenchanter instead of Mantra of Pain to make myself get used to the rotational flow. I switch back to mantra again few months ago and I'm proud to say that I can do 20k+ dps on real situation. Fck benchmark lol
yeah i get a grip of the concept of this build it works great for quickness trait# but for alac trait goddammit i cant keep the boon up so i decide to off the guide and experiment on it by using rune of the pack and my god its totally worked!
So I've wanted to get good at Chrono for a long time, and recently discovered that doing a good opener helps A LOT in longer fights. Not only will it increase your DPS significantly (this opener works for pure DPS Chrono too) but also helps setup a large amount of your boon (quick/alac) so you don't have to be so sweaty about keeping it up and can relax a little more. With that being said I wouldn't say learn this first, but it's something you should come back to once you feel a little more comfortable with the class and know what most of your buttons do. Start in dagger/sword. Phantasmal Disenchanter (utility phantasm) -> 5 -> 3 -> 2 -> Weapon Swap -> 2 (if you don't have all 3 clone slots filled) -> 4, Shatter 5 as you're casting GS4 -> Heal (wait for it to cast) -> 4 -> utility phantasm -> use all of your damaging utility and elite skills, spam shatters 1-4 as fast as possible, before continuum split (the shatter 5) runs out. This may seem like a lot, but it's basically go down your hotbar from right to left, then weapon swap and go back up left to right while throwing in continuum split at the right time. Then get both phantasm skills (after heal skill refreshes them) and all shatters fit into the continuum split and you should be golden. Also, in case you haven't read some of the other comments. Summoning a phantasm produces quick/alacrity too (almost as much as shattering with 2 clones)
Ever since they added the quick/alac flexibility I've basically been playing chrono. Heal or damage. Few hundred hours in. The clone counter is still a problem, because phantasms do not perfectly become clones at a set amount of time, they sometimes move around etc. I wish I could have something closer to my character showing it instead of something at the bottom. It's for sure my chief complaint. I do *not* enjoy requiring my eyes off a fight to do a core mechanic of my class. One other problem for me, personally, is the inability to add boons during downtime. It makes reading dps chart/logs for improvement much more of a pain in the ass. One thing I'd point out for people coming into chrono early is not doing your CS as part of the rotation is an option, it's a DPS increase but not a gigantic one, and you generate enough boons without it. That means it can provide a lot of flexibility and allows for some interesting skill expression and has extra impacts on certain fights, like double wells/moas/feedback for heavy CC, reflects, whatever. Usually it's best to just use it for the damage, but sometimes you get that opportunity and it's just so good.
Phantasms are actually a huge part of ramping up boon uptime in the beginning of a fight since they also grant boons. The ideal opener would start on Sword phantasm, then swap to GS phantasm x2, continuum split while casting, heal signet, GS phantasm x2, reset Continuum split, signt again, GS phantasm x2. So in total you get 7 phantasm casts which is critical to ramping up your boons in the beginning when your clone generation kinda sucks for shatters
I will point out the this spec is very rewarding to play when you get good at it. 80% of my playtime since release has been mesmer and its never gotten dull. You always feel impactful, the buttons you press are big, you can make plays with your utility and with the inceptions of rifles and spears you got alot of power and heals too. Such a well rounded class.
I started my lv80 Mesmer journey as a Virtuoso because I wanted something simple and effective for my boomer brain and slow fingers. However, it didn't really click with me and I realized I actually enjoyed the core Mesmer clone+shatter playstyle while leveling and it wasn't that hard for me to get used to it, so I'll probably switch to Chrono and see how it goes...
Good video. I think chrono's rotation (as shown on snowcrows) is made a bit too complicated than it actually is, so I understand the struggle of anyone picking up this class. However, after getting used to playing it, power boon chrono quickly became my favourite dps support build and it feels really natural to play! For anyone that is interested in picking up this build, I think Kiminek has made an excellent Power Virtuoso guide a year ago. It's not exactly power boon chrono, but both of these builds use the same weapons and have similar rotation (outside of utility skills).
I sometimes get nostalgic about how phantasms used to work but i must admit the rework was needed. It really opened the playstyle of mesmer. Great class.
@@andreavasile6388 they used to be permanent, and would continually attack forever. it was changed a few years ago for the better, before then the optimal dps for mesmer was to make 3 gs phantasms and then auto attack on sword for the rest of the fight, bc shattering your phantasms was dps loss
If you want to learn this class, there is a very good beginner build on snowcrows, which teaches the rotation. Also already playing power virtuoso helps a a lot, because the rotation is only slightly different.
I usually start in dagger sword to get off the phantasm there first for the first burst of boons, 3-5-2 gets you 2 clones, then swap to gs-2 to get the third, then continuum split as you gs4 and use heal>gs4 again to get two more clones into gs2, then use all shatters and all utility. It should all fit in the split window.
I remember when i started out with boon chrono i found it tricky to upkeep the boons but at some point it just clicked and now i don't have to think about it anymore.
Chrono is slowly becoming my new main, I personally very much love my Firebrand for heal and qdps, but having another class where those options both feel fun to play is awesome. It's funny to think I was so worried about trying this class years ago, but obviously the reworks have been a huge help. Still blows my mind that other classes that might be deemed lower intensity are a mystery to me, but this was fine? Thanks brain!
the build looks very enticing and I tried this a few weeks ago. however, like Muk I didn't feel to have passed the critical threshold in order to get comfortable with it. the 'sweaty' part was still with me, particularly with regard to using _Temporal Rift_ correctly to lift my boon uptime from the 80s into the high 90s. Muk didn't exactly elaborate how to do and time it correctly. it probably wasn't a concern for him. maybe I'm simply not cut out to play a Chronomancer properly.
Nothing stops you taking Concentration sigils on offhand weapons and using Soul Pastry food. You could even use a Diviners trinket or two. These help compensate for the downsides of chrono which are very nicely detailed in other comments here. Additional boon duration also helps a lot for secondary boons you might choose to provide like Stability. Think outside the meta.
I will try this build out later. I've recently been joining open world zergs and playing heal scourge, but it feels bad cuz people move out of my barrier since it looks like an AoE. :(
Any chance these "I tried Build X" vids could be sectioned into chapters for easy navigation? At least setting one for showing the build itself (around 1:44 for this one) would be nice.
It's worth noting that you swap your offhand sword for a focus for a really good pull. You do lose damage doing this, but on some fights like Qadim 1 a good pull is really useful. If know that there's a CC coming up I'll just delay continuum split and use it to cast gravity well twice. It is a little more tricky than other classes, but the extra utility is really useful.
one thing to note is that phantasams and clones both count as illisions which is what ya need for a shatter. do wonder if using secptre would work as that makes clones on its third auto attack and also has a block which also makes a clone if it blocks an attack
One thing you didn't mention is that the signet healing restores all phantasms, including phantasmal disenchanter (your T). I suggest using it before the heal so you can use it again right after for a bit more dps
If you struggle with clones, i always take mirror images (also a brilliant stunbreak) and you can just use them then shatter for instant boon grants. If im dps i take well of action, mirror images and phantasmal disenchanter (99% of the time).
Easy opener to CS. ALWAYS OPEN IN DAGGER SWORD. 5,2,3 swap to great sword use skill 2 then CS great sword 4, Phantasm disenchanter signet of ether, repeat and mash all your shatters. You can also cast your shatters while doing this as it wont cancel any skills. Use all your wells if your good enough and have time. Once you are out of CS your going to f1 and do great sword 4, disenchanter, signet of ether and repeat
you can make clones with gs 2 and dagger 2 without summoning phantasms frist, also off hand sword 4 if there is an easy aatck that you can block will make you one. Also i try to squize at least one disenchanter in your continum split, escpecially if you play alac chrono cuz phantasms also give alac to party memebers. Also you can jump start the boons for your sweaty dps players by using shatter 3 and 4 before you start the rotation, gives them a couple of sec of boons before your rotation kicks in but thats optional
The main trick to playing any mesmer is not the shatter minigame, but just focus on the correct order of weapon skills and phantasma disenchanter/heal. Doing that you basically automatically generate clones and you don't need to pay attention to how many exactly you are creating. Then you just shatter f1 and f2 whenever you see 3 dots
Been playing boon chrono for a while without thinking much what i am doing (except learning to use continuum split), and watching this has given me ideas on how to improve the rotation i am used to :) btw how important is getting boons on second 0 of the star of the fight? because i got used to generate 3 clones to use continuum split -> use all shatters while wells are being cast -> continuum split ends and i start generating clones to use 1 shatter skill at ghe time and now i wonder if my way to do that might perjudicate my team mates 🤔
Ignore Continuum Split for now, learn the basic opener and loop. Opener: Dg3 - Sw5 - Dg2 - Swap GS Loop: GS4 - Heal Skill - GS4 - GS3 - GS2 ----- GS2 ----- GS3 - GS4 - GS2 - Swap Sword Loop: Sw5 - Dg2 - Dg3 ----- Dg2 ----- Dg2 - Sw5 - Dg3 - Swap Shatter F1 and F2 when you get 3 clones, use your wells off CD if you don't have any other skill to use. This will get you to 95% bench and it will also be your rotation for some fights but this is something you'll learn eventually. ;) IF you are super worried about boons, you can use a different opener but it usually isn't needed if you're pugging and have healers in both sub groups: Sw5 - Well of Action - Dg2 - Dg3 - Swap ALSO, DO NOT DO LIKE MUKLUK, DO NOT SWAP WELL OF ACTION (despite what the SC guide says). You can swap in some scenarios since most healers do give permanent 25 stacks of Might but I usually do not trust PUGs with boons.
wow thats give me the idea why i didnt think of that make 3 clones use continuum/spam all your shit get boon and then proceed for normal rotation i should practice that
This is kind of like Scrapper in that you don't have to run anything like Diviners, but if you want to have an easier time of it put Diviners trinkets on instead of full Zerker. The amount of wiggle room that gets you for the drop in damage is worth it if you're having trouble managing uptimes.
Thanks for the vid! Only thing I saw you did wrong was you seem to have accidentally selected Sewer Rat for your race instead of Charr. Just a heads up. ;)
Is using Celestial gear on a Chronomancer really bad, or just sort of bad? Just wondering if I could play Heal Chrono and Quick/Alac Chrono without changing gear? My guess is that the DPS would be pretty bad on the boon support versions, but the Heal Chrono might be okay on Celestial gear.
Some things to keep in mind: - If boss goes invincible or untargetable you can't keep your uptime - In content like fractals(or in Cold War strike) if mob will die before you'll shatter clones - they will disappear leaving you with cooldown and no alac\quick - Clones shatters against their current target(target is selected based on what you was targeting with a skill) and pulse boons at place of shatter, so even if you are inside group, but shatter them somewhere else, you'll get reduced boon application from it
As other said, main boon is from summoning phantasms and not shatters. Each one give 4s of boon. Shatters just add bit more. You CAN have 100 % without continuum split and disenchanter but I often take disenchanter to make my life easier. Btw q is fine, keeping 100% alac on yourself is challenge :D
Forgot to mention two more things. Cause of chosen traits you summon 2 gs phantasms and it is 4s for each. You also provide some fury. 100% on yourself and 50% to your sub by just doing crit every 8s. That is true for all mesmers with dueling trait so i guess all power versions and cvirt.
I have been playing boon chrono since the beginning and cannot get over 17k dps on the golem, averaging 11k in actual bosses...and this is the only class I play T_T I don't know how I am pressing the same buttons with the same gear and not getting the same dmg....am I not pressing them quick enough?? lol.
tried it quick boon work great for me 100% quickness uptime but damn alac trait make it shorter and harder to keep and i can't keep it up like more than 10 second uptime it will go down(well as i expected because i dont have soto or weaponmaster) like i shatter and shatter and shatter i reskill using heal i reskill using F5 its all useless can't keep alac up so ill stick with quickness
Take Mimic and use one of the Phantasm utility twice. Or better, use Mimic in continuum split with the phantasm utilities so you get back on it when you exit CS.
I don't mean to be rude but there are so many inaccuracies in this video that is quite misleading as a guide. Here are some clarifications: 1. The toolbox it is indeed massive and can't be fully explored in an hour and half. There are many more options other than the one listed in this video, just READ THE TOOLTIPS and feel free to experiment as much as you want since, as mukluk said, there is really no huge dps loss or improvement in replacing mantra of pain. 2. Chrono has a really hard time reaching 100% crit chance therefore every combination of gear require extra assassin's pieces to reach the crit cap. Different guides reaches it in different ways, just be mindfull that your phantasms will copy your stats but not your sigils and other special buffs and traits, therefore using superior sigil of accuracy (for example) to reach the crit cap wont affect your phantasms crit chance that will remain at 93%. This is acceptable for the Virtuoso build since most of the damage come directly from you but not for the chrono that rely much more on phantasm skills to do damage. 3. The actual way you generate quickness/alacrity is shatters skills (F1 to F5) AND spawning phantasms (just as the healchrono that also adds 5 shield to hit). The process as mukluk described it is correct but it is not a specific process to generate quickness/alacrity, it is just how the profession is meant to be played. Some skills will directly generate a clone while others will generate a phantasm that do something and than become a clone. Putting in cooldown your phantasm skills has priority over any other skill regardless if you job is to do either damage or boons. The skills that generate a simple clone are dagger 2 (1), greatsword 2 (1) and sword 4 (1) (expert). The skills that generate a phantasm that than become a clones are sword 5 (1) (damage), greatsword 4 (2) (damage) and phantasmal disenchanter (1) (T for mukluk) (damage and boon strip). You can also use sword 4 to generate an additional clone if you feel fancy and confidente enough: sword 4 is a parry skill that can block a single enemy skill and as a reward generates a clone if done successfully. It is not necessary to use or mandatory but it is useful in different situations (similar to revenant greatsword block and reposte). It is also good to know that double tapping sword 4 without waiting to parry an attack is actually a range daze that does 200 breakbar damage. !! This list is limited to this build and can change drastically based on the weapons, traits and skills so take notes of the top priority skills of every different build before starting to use it !! 4. Phantasms are immune to everything before doing their skill and becoming clones, they will walk in range of the target on which the skill was used, do their thing and than become clones. The difference is visiblly easy to spot since clones are normal copy of your character while phantasms are a purple translucent faded image of your character. If you can't spot them during a fight just look above your shatter skills to keep track of how many clones are active. The three purple dots only display active clones and not phantasms. You can have as many phatasms as you want at the same time but you can only have up to three clones active, if by mistake you end up generating an other clone with already three clones active the oldest clone will vanish and get replaced by the most recent one effectively wasting one clone that could have been extra damage or boons depending on the build. Juggling as many phantasms as possible using clones effectively through shatters skills without wasting any clone is one of the thing that differenciate an acceptable mesmer from a great one. 5. The skill priority is different from what mukluk said. Sword 5, greatsword 4 and phantasmal disenchater are to be used off cooldown most of the time. The healing signet when used, it reset the cooldowns of phantasmal skills therefore using it immediatly after using all of them is the correct way to maximaze the damage/boons output by than recasting the same phantasmal skills after using the healing signet. After that your priority are skills that generate a clone and do damage like dagger 2 and greatsword 2. And only after that you use skills that do good damage but generate neither phantasms or clones like greatsword 3, dagger 3 and well of calamity (greatsword 3 is one of the few skills that can actually interrupt other skills cast when used so be careful of not interrupting other ability casts when using it). 6. Use shatter skills only when you have 3 clones! You have plenty clones to shatter if you do a correct rotation so don't rush it and take your time, this way you will output more damage and longer lasting boons. The only exception is when you are in Continuum Split, in that situation always cast everything from F1 to F4 before Continuum Split ends (the cooldown will reset anyway and you get damage and boon for free). The shatter criteria are F1>F2 whenever up and with 3 clones for longer quick/alac, F3 for cc with 3 clones for bigger daze, F4 for distorsion with 3 clones for longer invulnerability period, F5 for continuum split with 3 clones to have more time in continuum split. This build will provide the necessary boons even without using continuum split if played correctly so you can skip it all together if you do not like the mechanic. 7. The reason why this chrono build feel sweaty is due to the trait Improved Alacrity that increase the effectiveness of alacrity to 50% on yourself but reduce the duration by 33%. This way your cooldowns come back faster and coming from any other profession in the game it feels like you are always falling behind on the rotation while in reality you are not. This in addition to the fact that your quickness/alacrity comes in small doses from many keys makes it hard to actually understand if you are doing good or not. To make up for the less alacrity duration chrono has a decent amount of self alacrity uptime that paired with a good alacrity provider is enough to cover 100% uptime regardless of the reduced duration. Therefore it always feels like you have to play the rotation faster than any other profession while in reality that is really not the case. 8. That "crap" makes indeed harder to maintain boons than many other professions but it has the advantage that is basically the same "crap" you have to do to do damage. You don't have to add something or get out of your way to give the boons, you just have to do what you would do to do damage. It is challenging but it is also recursive so once you understand your priority you can apply the same logic to any chrono build. In my opinion it is the core mesmer mechanic that can be challenging to understand but once you get use to that you can cover any role in the game using the same profession. That said mesmer is not easy as many other professions and require time to master so don't be embarrassed if it takes more time than other professions to learn how to use it properly. 9. This build is completely ranged but quickness/alacrity radiates from your character in a circle of 360 unit radius (smaller range than many) so be careful positioning near your allies to actually provide boons before wasting all your boon-providing skills. 10. Any crit capped chrono build that use the dueling trait line like this one provide 50% uptime of fury to his subgroup in addition to quick or alac thanks to the Master Fencer trait.
@@MuklukUA-cam You are right. You clearly said in the title that those are only your thoughts and not a guide. I just put so many hours in this profession and when I saw the video it felt like you just scratched the surface without giving it a fair chance since you were struggling playing it. I hope you had fun playing it nonetheless and that my comment can be of help to anybody that is interested in chrono. Thank you for giving your thoughts about this profession.
Correction: shattering is not the main source for quick or alac - summoning phantasms is if you do quickness, you get some quick if you shatter as well all shatters give alac to SELF only - shatter DOES NOT generate group alac
At least from the trait description, shattering should give Alacrity if properly traited: "Stretched Time - Flow of Time [Alacrity when shattering] now affects nearby allies. Grant alacrity to nearby allies when you summon a phantasm."
The grandmaster trait "Stretched Time" which is used in the alac version says : "Flow of Time now affects nearby allies." - "Flow of Time" being the alac on shatter.
As an enjoyer of the superior mesmer profession, I can only support the use of this build for any fellow mesmer. The fact that you can change the boon with one trait switch is a huge advantage, but when you also take the time to gear up a heal chrono (the one that Muk tried in another video), you can use your mesmer to join any instanced content and simply play whatever the group needs with just a template switch. The comfort it brings is astonishing. Then, when it comes to actually playing the boonDPS chrono, here are my personal advice. I never played raids, but I have never had any problem playing this role in strikes like BS/WoJ/ToF and metas like DE while keeping an almost 100% duration for my party (the "almost" is because of you, Ferus, and your annoying boon corruption you cheeky wanker). - Clone generation : If you have a hard time keeping up with the clone generation, replace "Improved Alacrity" in the Chronomancer trait line by "Illusionary Reversion". It provides less damage and the standard version of alacrity (25% instead of 50%), but when you shatter 3 clones you will automatically have 1 remaining instead of 0 "Mirror Images" is an instant cast that provides two clones. Aside from that, understand that your clones come from your phantasms (Greatsword 4 and Dagger 5, keep in mind they need a couple of seconds after being cast to generate clones that you can shatter), and your skill 2 on both weapons. Spamming these mindlessly can lead you to waste a clone generation skill when you already have 3 up, so get used to their timings and the rate at which you generate clones in general - Utility skills variation : as I said above, "Mirror Images" can act as a stunbreak and instantly generates two clones, it goes quite well with Continuum Split (if you are in CS, you can cast your mirror images and will still have it up after you exit CS). If your party lacks cleanses, pick "Mantra of Resolve" (not your role in theory, but we all had that kind of healers sometimes). If it lacks stability, pick "Mantra of Concentration" and "Well of precognition". If it lacks CC, pick "Well of Senility" I only consider "Signet of the Ether" (the heal, because it recharges your phantasm skill on the weapon you are using) and either "Signet of Humility" or "Gravity Well" as mandatory skills (for the CC), the other 3 can be adjusted to fit your playstyle and the encounter. "Signet of Illusions" also generates one clone every 10 seconds but its active is the usefull part : it recharges all your shatter skills, so if you tend to get comfortable with clones generation and manage to get all your shatters in cooldown even with the use of Continuum Split, you can consider using this aswell. I am not really a big fan of Phantasmal Disenchanter, it only generates one clone, takes 1 second to cast and is not that usefull in my opinion For example, in DS I tend to pick the two stability skills because my parties often forget to dodge the shockwaves, and in encounters that involve lots of breakbars I pick the "Well of Senility". In CO strike, you can place "Feedback" right on top of Dagda when she starts spinning and shooting blue projectiles. - Continuum Split : like all shatters use it only when you have 3 clones. After entering CS, your goal is to squeeze as many 3 clones shatters as possible. Usually I get to this by casting GS 4 (when I already have 3 clones), entering CS right after, then the GS 4 clones appear, F1 (with 3 clones), Mirror images, GS 2, F2 (with 3 clones), Signet of the Ether, GS 4 then you will exit CS, use GS 2 and F1 once the GS 4's clones appear. It can be a little overwhelming at first, but ignore it at first if you struggle and once you get used to your clone generation like this you can start trying to use CS here and there. Be carefull with CS though, use it only when you know you can. A general rule : use CS when you are sure you don't have to move for the next 6 seconds. In Bonneskinner : use it after the "raise his right arm" attack, otherwise you will probably exit your CS and end up in the puddles and die. In Temple of Febe : since Ferus' rotation varies between the phases (check the wiki for that), wait until he completes the puddles attack to use CS. Also remember that you can manually end the CS by pressing its button a second time, it is a bit of a waste but if you started it at a bad time, better to cancel it than to fail a crucial mechanic for the encounter
Mesmer atm is at a place where Virtuoso is so far ahead that there is imho almost no point playing something else ^^', chrono has better utility skills and usefull support potential at least but in terms of powerlevel, it is far from meta imho, you sweat to feel decent in harder content while the guy near you has competitive parses rolling his head on his kb without commiting. I played mostly chrono in fractals before EoD because I'm very casual and only had berserker ascended gear for the longest of time and it was the best power dps in fractals(for open world imho power mirage is underrated and is insanely good at tagging and even getting things done overall but it's another story). Imho the most important part of chronomancer, even for hybrid is the engage rotation, mukluk failed it in the sense that the time reversal is the first thing you want to do and you start with offhand for that to dump extra phantasms, reason is it is that is a massive burst window relative to the actual power level of the kit. Then for day to day content, most things are interchangeable except the heal and the phantasm, the chrono ult is very competitive because it's good dmg and good cc, you have 3 slots however that can be swapped for more cc, wells(precog is very strong for progression), aoe dmg, team position rewinder and projectiles denial and I've used I believe almost everything at different points in T4 and cms, mesmer utility is awesome and chrono utility is even better, probably the best utility skills. The chronomancer shatter(which is the spiciest thing of the kit), rewinds your position and if you do that at engage in some raid you may die almost instantly(the bear boss raid for instance cleanly one shots chronos who try to do a guidebook engage which is funny when you get there for the first time but not for your party)
after initial rotation, just stay on gs. you loose about 2k dps but you can no sweat keep the a/q boon up 100%. for a small loss you can even ignore continuum split
I would highly not recommend ignoring CS. That is poor advise. You should at minimum be using it with GS 4 and have ether up while using all your shatters. Phantoms create either alac or quick. So ignoring CS your missing out on 2 GS 4s.
I wish chrono was a bit easier to play. I feel if I could master chrono I'd have such an easy time covering every possible role in a group, especially with condi virt being one of the easier condi builds to play.
Ah yes, Chronomancer. The profession I picked because of utility galore only to be hit by the most complex and situational rotation I've seen in any mmo, which is saying a lot. I know I'm shooting myself in the foot by complicating it even more by playing condi and the weapons being slower, but it's one thing to do the Continuum Split on a dummy where you can follow a strict rotation, and completely different story when you try to do anything outside a Strike. As some guy once said angrily in the comments, Chrono is meant only for bosses and no other type of content because of how slow their rotation is. I will switch over to power once spears are added because I just despise the GS and it's clearly the best weapon the Mesmer has for clone generation; the others don't even come close to how smooth this weapon is. A lot of professions have terrible utility skills, Elementalist and Ranger come to mind, and it just feels like they took everything from them and gave it to Mesmer; we maybe didn't get the Bard but Mesmer sure fills in that power fantasy of being a control freak and being able to do everything.
So with the mental image of Muk playing a mobile game with his weapon and shatters, and how versatile the build is... You telling me that Chrono boon support is literally just a cellphone because it can do nearly everything AND distract you with the mobile game?
just use dagger with sword-focus , now the rotation in mostly the same as virtuoso just a little dps loss come with more utility from focus and easier one muscle memory and we all go brrr every content with vir-chrono 🤣🤣
SO excited to see this vid. I've played mesmer since core relase, and played strictly chrono since unlocking elite specs when I returned from a break. I'm "ok" at it. I do more damage on my alac scourge I rolled last week. 🥲 You aren't kidding about that "sweaty" feel. I get like 7k dps in a raid that has mechanics 😭
I would reccomend to simplify the understanding of chrono. Shatters isnt the only source of quick/alac you also give it when creating a phantasm. So i would recommend just remembering the rotation and then just pressing f keys when you have full illusions, with that you will always end up with 100% boonuptime.
Can be wrong here, but phantasm creation give boons only to yourself and not to others
@@mustakragen6103 Others too. When I was learning to keep the boons up I had all phantasm skills I could get on the tility bar. Notice after a while Muk had excess of 20 seconds of quickness, that's because he was getting it both from summoned phantasms and shatters.
@@mustakragen6103 The trait clearly says it gives it to allies as well
This is why I like bringing Phantasmal Disenchanter as a utility, instead of another utility. More phantasms means an easier time keeping boons. Not to mention the boon removal and extra clones after the phantasms turn.
Also I'm flexible with changing wells to whatever is needed.
Here are my chrono tips if you are trying to learn the rotation without a cranial explosion:
- don't worry about continuum split, using that one properly comes after you are no longer sweating bullets in normal rotation
- if you always shatter with at least two clones, you will still get something like 85% boon uptime, don't stress over it too much
- both GS 2 and dagger 2 skill give you one clone instantly, the rest take some time, use this knowledge for a quick top up and to not waste the skill cast
- you are a mesmer and don't have to take damage (f4 shatter), use this for revives and as a panic button (reviving your healer straight from under the giants in Harvest temple is a hell of a drug)
- chrono trait tree gives you a passive movespeed buff, if there is a thing to carry, you should go for it
If you are really worried about letting your team, your grandma and your dog down with 99% quickness, get yourself a boon duration amulet or accessories and you will be able to easily patch up that boon duration.
Fck benchmark lol
yea when i started playing chrono i hardly do CS but once you get the gimmick ull get more boon uptime and dps
I like to take disenchanter open with CS. That makes keeping boon up time easy. After that, just doing regular rotation keeps good boon and dps.
yeah
i get a grip of the concept of this build it works great for quickness trait# but for alac trait goddammit i cant keep the boon up
so i decide to off the guide and experiment on it by using rune of the pack and my god its totally worked!
@@CowcaineHA it's on the chrono trait line the alac you give is stronger but u get less alac on yourself
Chrono dps is almost identical to core except with better tools and more cooldown resets
It's not exactly power boon chrono, but both of these builds use the same weapons and have similar rotation (outside of utility skills).
awesome, thanks! :) i'll definitely check virtuoso!
I sometimes get nostalgic about how phantasms used to work but i must admit the rework was needed. It really opened the playstyle of mesmer. Great class.
How they where working before?
I like the thumbnail, that's awesome. Dio using "THE WORLD!" for a chronomancer build. Clever.🤣
5:45 breathe Muk, damn you, breathe
You can use signet for clones, to ease up the boon duration, technically maby loosing dps, but still a solid choices for more relaxed boon providing
Love Muk, but when I saw him opening on GS my soul left my body
you can make clones with gs 2 and dagger 2 without summoning phantasms frist, also off hand sword 4 if there is an easy aatck that you can block will make you one.
Been playing boon chrono for a while without thinking much what i am doing (except learning to use continuum split), and watching this has given me ideas on how to improve the rotation i am used to :)
btw how important is getting boons on second 0 of the star of the fight? because i got used to generate 3 clones to use continuum split -> use all shatters while wells are being cast -> continuum split ends and i start generating clones to use 1 shatter skill at ghe time and now i wonder if my way to do that might perjudicate my team mates 🤔
Ignore Continuum Split for now, learn the basic opener and loop.
Opener:
Dg3 - Sw5 - Dg2 - Swap
GS Loop:
GS4 - Heal Skill - GS4 - GS3 - GS2 ----- GS2 ----- GS3 - GS4 - GS2 - Swap
Sword Loop:
Sw5 - Dg2 - Dg3 ----- Dg2 ----- Dg2 - Sw5 - Dg3 - Swap
Shatter F1 and F2 when you get 3 clones, use your wells off CD if you don't have any other skill to use. This will get you to 95% bench and it will also be your rotation for some fights but this is something you'll learn eventually. ;)
IF you are super worried about boons, you can use a different opener but it usually isn't needed if you're pugging and have healers in both sub groups:
Sw5 - Well of Action - Dg2 - Dg3 - Swap
ALSO, DO NOT DO LIKE MUKLUK, DO NOT SWAP WELL OF ACTION (despite what the SC guide says). You can swap in some scenarios since most healers do give permanent 25 stacks of Might but I usually do not trust PUGs with boons.
wow thats give me the idea why i didnt think of that
make 3 clones use continuum/spam all your shit get boon and then proceed for normal rotation
i should practice that
Did you try it on Raids?
correct me if im wrong but i think you also give alac/quick by summoning phantasms (gs4 sword5)
I have learned since releasing this video that that is correct!
3rd Strike Announcer Voice; Ah yeaaaa, I been waitin for dis.
Just a heads up. ;)
"he had me in the first half not gonna lie"
@@MuklukUA-cam truly, thanks for all the content you put out.
Do they never use containum split?
Some things to keep in mind:
- If boss goes invincible or untargetable you can't keep your uptime
- In content like fractals(or in Cold War strike) if mob will die before you'll shatter clones - they will disappear leaving you with cooldown and no alac\quick
- Clones shatters against their current target(target is selected based on what you was targeting with a skill) and pulse boons at place of shatter, so even if you are inside group, but shatter them somewhere else, you'll get reduced boon application from it
You can extend your boon timer during downtime...for 1s per shatter lol
Tried to brew my own celestial chrono build. Looks good in paper, just need to get some more fingers.
I have been playing boon chrono since the beginning and cannot get over 17k dps on the golem, averaging 11k in actual bosses...and this is the only class I play T_T I don't know how I am pressing the same buttons with the same gear and not getting the same dmg....am I not pressing them quick enough?? lol.
You were expected Mukluk, but IT WAS ME, DIO !!!!!!
tried it
quick boon work great for me 100% quickness uptime
but damn alac trait make it shorter and harder to keep and i can't keep it up like more than 10 second uptime it will go down(well as i expected because i dont have soto or weaponmaster)
like i shatter and shatter and shatter i reskill using heal i reskill using F5 its all useless can't keep alac up
so ill stick with quickness
whats an f2p/no soto alternative to dagger+sword?
double sword is good
Take Mimic and use one of the Phantasm utility twice. Or better, use Mimic in continuum split with the phantasm utilities so you get back on it when you exit CS.
I don't mean to be rude but there are so many inaccuracies in this video that is quite misleading as a guide. Here are some clarifications:
It is not a guide.
The corrections are welcome.
Correction:
shattering is not the main source for quick or alac - summoning phantasms is
if you do quickness, you get some quick if you shatter as well
all shatters give alac to SELF only - shatter DOES NOT generate group alac
At least from the trait description, shattering should give Alacrity if properly traited:
"Stretched Time - Flow of Time [Alacrity when shattering] now affects nearby allies. Grant alacrity to nearby allies when you summon a phantasm."
The grandmaster trait "Stretched Time" which is used in the alac version says : "Flow of Time now affects nearby allies." - "Flow of Time" being the alac on shatter.
The quick version is alac only on yourself (obviously, you can't have a character that bring both). The alac version put it on your group too.
@@Alphenis thanks for the correction, i was wrong
Chrono is my favorite spec because failing to abort Continuum Split before it snaps you back into a nono zone deals massive comedy damage
Mukluk plays a mesmer in this day and age, impossible…
It provides less damage and the standard version of alacrity (25% instead of 50%), but when you shatter 3 clones you will automatically have 1 remaining instead of 0
"Mirror Images" is an instant cast that provides two clones.
Aside from that, understand that your clones come from your phantasms (Greatsword 4 and Dagger 5, keep in mind they need a couple of seconds after being cast to generate clones that you can shatter), and your skill 2 on both weapons. Spamming these mindlessly can lead you to waste a clone generation skill when you already have 3 up, so get used to their timings and the rate at which you generate clones in general
- Utility skills variation : as I said above, "Mirror Images" can act as a stunbreak and instantly generates two clones, it goes quite well with Continuum Split (if you are in CS, you can cast your mirror images and will still have it up after you exit CS).
If your party lacks cleanses, pick "Mantra of Resolve" (not your role in theory, but we all had that kind of healers sometimes).
If it lacks stability, pick "Mantra of Concentration" and "Well of precognition".
If it lacks CC, pick "Well of Senility"
I only consider "Signet of the Ether" (the heal, because it recharges your phantasm skill on the weapon you are using) and either "Signet of Humility" or "Gravity Well" as mandatory skills (for the CC), the other 3 can be adjusted to fit your playstyle and the encounter.
"Signet of Illusions" also generates one clone every 10 seconds but its active is the usefull part : it recharges all your shatter skills, so if you tend to get comfortable with clones generation and manage to get all your shatters in cooldown even with the use of Continuum Split, you can consider using this aswell.
I am not really a big fan of Phantasmal Disenchanter, it only generates one clone, takes 1 second to cast and is not that usefull in my opinion
For example, in DS I tend to pick the two stability skills because my parties often forget to dodge the shockwaves, and in encounters that involve lots of breakbars I pick the "Well of Senility".
Seriously question, did you watch Jojo?
Yep. It was bizarre.
@@MuklukUA-cam yes it bizarre but i love it, and the 7th part receives an animation
The subway surfers edit made me giggle more than it should :/
THE WORLD, am I right, fellow kids?
I would've gone with Star Platinum over Dio though 😉
One second has passed...
@@R.senals_Arsenal I'm so out of the loop concerning Jojo's Bizarre Adventure, you have no idea! :'D
@@bobiboulon I only just recently watched it. Bizarre is putting it mildly. Insane more like.
You telling me that Chrono boon support is literally just a cellphone because it can do nearly everything AND distract you with the mobile game?
just use dagger with sword-focus , now the rotation in mostly the same as virtuoso just a little dps loss come with more utility from focus and easier
one muscle memory and we all go brrr every content with vir-chrono 🤣🤣
There's a significantly easier build with just a smidge of lower dps, so no reason to sweat ^^
I still prefer quick dead eye. Steal Time x 9999
SO excited to see this vid. I've played mesmer since core relase, and played strictly chrono since unlocking elite specs when I returned from a break.
I'm "ok" at it. I do more damage on my alac scourge I rolled last week. 🥲
You aren't kidding about that "sweaty" feel. I get like 7k dps in a raid that has mechanics 😭
