This is an age of sigmar era warhammer game meaning that whilst the vibe is similar to warhammer 40k the overall lore is much closer to Total War Warhammer. We have all of those wonderful fantasy elements paired with the gritty and depressing nature of warhammer. Bone bois can't drink tea, so they can never achieve true power.
They don’t drink it they Bathe in the tea and get instantly transported to the ‘Bone Zone’ where victory is inevitable
Out of 100 bone bois, you'd think one of them would have a knack for the trom-bone.

Horrors of tzeentch are nasty to fight in the total war games as well. Lot of people dont like using them for some reason though

I was rooting for spiff at the end. After seeing the nighthaunt buffs, after sweing tzeench, it looked like they had more potential.

It's never a good sign when you search for concise reviews of a game on UA-cam several days after release, only to find that they're so few and far between that you really have to go digging for them.

2:05:15 models and units are different. models means more damage, true, but the attack speed buff is based on units, so it isn't changed.
I love Warhammer, especially the fantasy stuff. Looks like I'd enjoy this

Yeah I’ve given it a try. Is it perfect? No but few games on release are. But it is legitimately fun, engaging and looks like it has lots of potential for multiplayer. I would recommend it.

I love Age of Sigmar first edition was definitely bungled but its amazing now I definitely recommend anyone who hasnt played it to get an army. Kharadron Overlords probably coolest idea ever. Beard guns..... yes
So... we can assume the Devs + Testers for this game are all playing Tzeentch on tabletop otherwise someone out there should have pointed to the fact a specific faction... to be exact a specific unit of one specific faction is overpowered to a staggering degree.
I hope they put more maps and armies in.

i would honestly get this game if there were more than 4 base factions.... that is just so low for a game like this

it doesn't look that much like dawn of war to me, especially with how small the unit sizes are
i can see some similarities with dawn of war 3
I think the confusion is that it's specifically based off of DoW2, not DoW1, and in fact supports above average unit sizes compared to that game. All three entries in the series are very different takes on an RTS, so people really should be more specific about which one they mean xD

Idl why so many people are saying this doesn't look good. It gives off huge Halo Wars vibes, but it's 40k and has the unit capacity of DoW. I think this looks like an RTS I can have alot of fun with
The reason is because they are the same people who complain endlessly about anything else. Objectively this is a good game at launch. Unfortunately some people seem to live off of complaining about stuff. A ton of people hate Age of Sigmar anything because their mediocre fantasy battles game from 40 years ago got discontinued. Then we get total war Warhammer fantasy battles and those same people do nothing but complain about it as well. For some folks everything they have wanted will never be enough.
Best way to ensure your opinion is thoroughly disregarded is to downplay and mock other peoples dislikes and concerns.
I am not a tabletop GW player, my entire interest in these settings is from games and books/lore. And I like pre-AoS Warhammer Fantasy. Clearly I am not the only one, thats why this topic is such a shitshow.

@AB-ci7cz no the answer is no its not automatically mid. AoS is really fun people are just salty the game they never bought models for doesn't exist anymore. I love the lore of Warhammer fantasy however objectively it was a dead game. I definitely think GWs big screw up was canceling WFB because there really was no need for that it just ensured that the neck beards at the hobby stores would complain about it endlessly (AoS) without ever giving it a try. I've never ever once seen someone articulate how AoS is bad including you. The literal only thing they say is SIgMaR MAriNes and first edition sucked. First edition of any table top game is never the best however we are just now in to 3rd edition and the AoS books have been so well written for the most part and besides some of the skaven models (old as fuck WFB models) the rest of the factions are amazing (Idoneth Deepkind) (Kharadron Overlords) etc etc. WFB was a gr3at game 30 years ago and then no one wanted to buy models GW let it die. It's a business the fastest way to ensure GW never brings it back is to just blindly say everything they do is terrible or mid. I'm very pleased with how far they have come with AoS and I do hope Warhammer the old world causes a resurgence of WFB. However most people don't have a well articulated opinion of why AoS sucks because they literally know nothing about it.

And then you proceeded to go on a consoomeroid rant about muh business and how people basically shouldn't talk about issues with the product cause it will make the producer of said product stop making it. In essense, you are okay with average or even bad product just as long as it has your favorite franchise sticker on it. As an example of a different media franchise, much more niche but you might be aware of, it reminds me of all those Ubisoft Heroes of Might and Magic fans who can't stop crying about the general consensus of the fanbase being that the series died with the 5th installment. "If people continually sh*t on Ubi's Heroes, there won't be another one! Your favorite series will be dead, you negative nancy!"
No. My fav series died 2 decades ago and it was in no small part thanks to Ubisoft. And their output continues to decrease in quality no less. People who hold the views like you, just feed into the corpo greed of companies that figured out they can sell just about anything and still have dedicated fans who would defend to the death any polished turd that they sunk their money into.
One last thing about WFB. You say its dead. Ofc you do realize that Warhammer isnt just miniatures, right? Tons of people, myself included, never touched them nor have any desire to. Theres stuff for us in there too - video games, books, TTRPGs, art, maybe movies (that dont suck or arent fringe fan projects) one day. Hell, you talked about one of these yourself - how can Warhammer Fantasy Battle be dead... if Creative Assembly keeps on having a successful side gig of making Total War Warhammer? It arguably has outshone the mainline TW releases even, and this is no small feat.
Tldr, m8 you are huffing some industrial grade copium. Like AoS all you want for your reasons, but stop demonizing people for liking and prefering WFB too.

Day 6 of asking for perfectly balanced hollow knight.
Had my hopes up when I saw dawn of war, was heavily disappointed to see its like the massive failure dawn of war 3. I feel cheated sir spiff. The only good dawn of war is the original series, soulstorm is the better of the expansions change my mind.

Go home and take a few deep breathes homie. Warhammer FB got canceled for a reason. AoS is super fun give it a try some time. Did they need to cancel Warhammer fantasy battles no not necessarily but lets be real it sold like shit and most of the models werea 100% trash. AoS is super fun and the models are super cool and so detailed you cant tell me that Archeon model in AoS isnt badass or that the Idonethdeepkin arent dope as fuck. Give it a try some time man it's real fun.

Sad because it doesn’t have to be. I would happily throw money at an RTS title if it had the quality of mechanics like the older games in the genre.
Most RTS or strategy games nowadays seem more like half baked battle simulators with features that should have been in the base game as paid for dlc.
idk, I think in a lot of ways this DoW2 style RTS works is a streamlining of the formula. Building big bases in single player is a ton of fun, but after playing for a bit it soon before pretty obvious that there isn't much creativity involved - there's almost always a specific build order that's better than all others, having a separate research building and barracks is a bit redundant when both are mandatory etc.
It quickly turns into busywork that makes the game too micro intensive to get into the tactics part of the game until you've sunk several dozen hours into the game - so I think in a lot of ways splitting the genre into city buildings or horde defence games like They Are Billions and stuff like this isn't a bad idea.
That being said, after watching some reviews, the single player content in this game sadly looks like it was a bit of an after thought as a result :/
