This was a surprisingly good story. A nice tragedy where all the characters' worst and best impulses lead to their downfall, from the hot-headed warrior to the mage with good intentions and the warlord reaching too far. I liked it.
I agree, really enjoy it.
It makes Iden's last line hit even harder when you realize he probably has a very good understanding about who the Knights Excelsior are and what they're capable of doing, and were probably going to do. All the sacrifice, fighting and suffering for literally nothing since it's all going to be razed to the ground.
Soon as I heard Knights Exeelsior I immediately understood what was going to happen. It felt kinda like a gut punch, all that fighting and sacrifice holding the city and keeping the civilians safe..only for them to get executed in a mass purge.

Seeing the Reforging side effects on-screen is actually pretty sad

@@VenrisSFO the flaws of Reforging have been a thing way back in AoS. The first few Realmgate Wars books hinted that the Reforging process wasn't perfect, and that the Stormcast were already being changed by it. 2e with Soul Wars ramped it up I think. But yeah, it's cool that Reforging adds these stakes to Stormcast that affect their very humanity, but they take the risks anyway because they're goddamn heroes.
Another way I like adding stakes to Stormcast when I write them is just the fact that while they can be revived, people around them can't; including the very squishy mortals they care about and are sworn to protect. A failed last stand in a city leading to the deaths of thousands means that the Stormcast are going to live with that, even if they can come back. Sorta like how Superman might be practically invulnerable to everything, but stories with him still have stakes by threatening Metropolis, or other heroes.
The Orruk parts are really fun. Has the propa spirit of Warhammer Orks
Its not my faction have to say. Tzeentch is best gameplay for me so far.
They really did a great job representing kunnin but brutal.

Just got done finishing the campaign myself, one of the best singleplayer Warhammer campaigns as far as writing goes imo.
Very good story, was very surprised.

@@VenrisSFO Indeed, though reading the lore in Age of Sigmar, there are a lot of similar moments, forcing you to really think on what is good and what is evil. I hope for DLCs and maybe even expansions that will add more of the armies of this setting within the game, especially the Ossiarch Bonereapers, who fit perfectly as they already have a legion within Ghur.

anybody that touches Chaos, must get the cleansing and the purging.
The game has a ton effort in graphics, animations, cutscenes, map editor, army painter, photographic tools and so on and so on.
I’m not into the game play though. We’ll see

The campaign was amazing. Overall best strategy game in recent years in my opinion, yes its not traditional rts but I enjoy it. The story is beautifully explored in the campaign rich character development very representative of warhammer.

anyone else notice that when reenforcements arrive, they're all wearing thuderstrike armor? unlike the guys we've been following that all have the old liberator style? this game was foreshadowing some stuff
I feel there is maybe more later as DLC expansions for the Main storyline. We still do not know the main reason why Tzeentch needed that city to be destroyed in his grand plans. Not to mention they may introduce new factions through those DLCs as well.

Either way, it is sad Sigrun had to follow orders to destroy the place from Sigmar which is what Tzeentch wanted since Tzeentch knows that by corrupting the land, a extermination of everyone in that place will be required. Thus, Sigmar is being forced to do the dirty work that Tzeentch wanted when he gave Sigrun her orders.

Just finished campaign myself, it's such a great story! Hope the game will live on and more people give it a try. In a sense it's not a fully traditional RTS, it's weird at first, but I kinda like it after all. So great to see the world of Age of Sigmar alive on the screen
would be fun to see all that in TW W3 with the amount of editing you can do with your army but well i think if CA do that someday they will sell it in a insane price for a DLC
Cutscenes quality is very high now. But TW is different games, their animated 2d ones are very good also.

Who are those white stormcast? If even the golden ones call them zealots? I thought they were all goodie golden boys meant to not be like space marines? I actually liked them lol proper grimdark in AoS.
The Knights Excelsior is the name of their stormhost, it is their duty to rid Sigmar's domain of Chaos, no matter the cost.
Knights Excelsior, they are cold ass psychos, see the realms entirely in black and white. Trust me mate AOS lore has very much matured since the launch, it's a fun dive
Knight excelsiors are a bit of an outlier, they are the bad cops of à faction of mostly good cops. They are sent when you need to do bad things for the greater good, but unlike marines like black templars or blood Angels, the excelsior don't enjoy being the purging guys.
@@franzt8955 In my opinion, that is better. Having doubts but yet being purpose made for purging and killing not-necessarily-evil people is far more interesting and nuanced than "blood rage go brrr". It makes for discrepancy between beliefs and actions which can be interesting to explore if done well.
There’s a few interesting stormhosts tbh. Like the celestial vindicators who in addition to losing bits of themselves when reforged are also prone to bezerker rage outs. They may or may not accidentally kill friendlies when this happens.

Well we didn't see Demechrios get killed I wonder if they will do an expansion where he survives and joins Tzeentch as a new mage. They weren't afraid to so other characters like Sigrun get murdered so that fade to black nonsense doesn't work on me unless they confirm it down the line somehow.
In Sigrun’s case, her survival was basically guaranteed since Stormcast always reforge/respawn upon death. The only way to stop it is to catch the Stormcast’s soul as they die, which is extremely hard to do. The real tragedy of Sigrun’s death is that reforging comes at a cost, which is normally paid by the loss of a piece of their soul and memories.
Also if you want to see what happens to Stormcasts that get reforged too many times, check out the AoS 4e launch trailer. It’s our first look at the Ruination Chamber of Stormcasts, who are veterans who have been reforged so many times they’re only a few deaths away from losing the last few bits of their soul.
The cutscenes are animated masterfully but the story ends right when its about to get good....

IMO, they have the best cutscenes out there for an RTS. Warcraft 3 Reforged was supposed to take this route. But due to Blizzard being worse Blizzard, it never made it.

This 1 hr 30 min is the sum total of my knowledge of this verse. What I'm getting is those white guys at the end are basically like Space Marines but the ones that side with the Inquisition in being extremist and choosing the nuclear option I'm guessing? But it's so sad we lost the magic guy and the boss lady is dead on the inside. I hope that Standard bearer Ancient dude is ok. But all his friends are gone, he's probably depressed. This emperor of mankind in the stone age kinda sucks huh?
watched the campaign it really really looked like a warhammer version of company of hero and dawn of war 2 without the base building part.
Its base building is more advanced than Dawn of War 2 for sure, but less than first game.

Thats how it is in Age of Sigmar.
Kruleboyz worship Mork, the Kunnin' Orruk god, so they're usually smarter than their counterparts and thus would naturally speak more clearly. Ironjawz worship Gork and are more traditionally Orky, meanwhile Bonesplittaz worship Gorkamorka and are constantly on magical smelling salts

@@VenrisSFO it leaves a feeling of it being incomplete and being a cash grab. it's fine to leave a loose end to continue the story but damn they haven't even finished this story arc.
can you imagine replaying warcraft 3 and ending it after the human campaign and having to pay for the end of story. although that story arc is far better told, executed and concluded than this. i feel bad just comparing them :( but hey they decided to market this as an rts and not a moba.

@@seanMmaguire1 Well it doesn't answer anything or end this story arc at all. Like what is Strylva plan in the end? Is it to gain control of Demechrios because he is powerfull, is it to infiltrate the stormcast to gain some other artefact or gain some knowledge?
Even then, Demechrios hasn't really shown any signs of corruption other than studying the artefact; he even gave good counsel to Iden which he ignored and had to be saved in the end. With no proper conclusion the story becomes somewhat meaningless.
@@andreir1183 the conclusion is he gets killed along with everybody else in harkanibus because he meddled with a chaos artefact. Thats what the Knights Excelsior are for.

Thanks for making this video. The story is decent, so I wanted to see how it ended without slogging my way through the terrible gameplay. Major step down from Dawn of War, even DoW 3 was better than this game.
Gotta be honest, I like classic Warhammer Fantasy way better than Age of Sigmar. The new setup just feels very derivative of 40k i.e. the Stormknights are basically just fantasy space marines, sigmar is the god emperor, and they go to new "relams" instead of worlds. Classic fantasy felt more unique with human warriors/emperors and everything being on one world.

I had no doubt when Age of Sigmar was released that they would make something out of it. GW has a track record of this by now, they roughly get it right by the third or fourth book.
And yet I still loathe its existance, it took 2 massivly succesful video games for the company to backtrack and start re-working on Fantasy. And who knows how changed that one will be. I can't have faith in a product from a company that butchers the product that made them popular.

@@Louis-lz1ds while I would disagree with the original comment made. The idea that AoS is better then Fantasy has currently been soundly disproven in the video-game realm with the massive success of Warhammer Fantasy video games, and not a single documented success of an AoS Game. Hopefully, RoR will break that, but it's focus toward multiplayer may well kill it.
WHFB died because GW at the time was not willing to give it new and updated love. It died after nearly a decade of nothing new being added to the game; something they learned with AoS, and have kept giving out refreshes to factions. Like Ironjawz who recently got a refresh with new models.
@Rhinopotamus I wouldn't say it's entirely fair to use the video games purely as a way to define 'better' but AOS 3rd es is more popular and imo a better game than 7th or 8th edition fantasy. I don't get why people can't just enjoy both though lol
