I think in the new version Sam is a total hypocrite. The moment Tommy pulled the trigger, he is likely to be disgusted by the utter hypocrisy from Sam, who have no remorse, a wimp begging for life. He is just trying to escape the guilt and blame for killing his “best friend” who saved him multiple times. Both also had a friendship with Paulie and both died violently. -Tommy chose himself over the Mob, refusing to be in the life any longer to the point he ratted out the Salieri Family to protect Sarah and their daughter. He is also a compassionate man who tends to hesitate on pulling the trigger and cared about Paulie. -Sam chose the Mob over himself, to the point he gave up on Michelle and killed Paulie when Salieri ordered it, which led up to Tommy killing him, being blindly loyal to his don. He is a reserved man with a ruthless streak.
I kinda feel sorry for Sam on this one, I remember he saying on one of the missions that he hates churches because every time he went there was to mourn, I can't even imagine how he felt when he knew he would be the one to bury his bests friends.

Still hurts me to this day and I've been playing this game for a long time. Paulie's death is still one of the biggest and impactful death have ever seen in video game history and it blows my mind on how Paulie and Tommy could have easily avoided death and died of natural causes if only Sam had just kept his mouth closed and didn't tell the don. Sure he knew about Frank and Michelle but the don let it got because they still got taken care of.

Fact is, Tom and Paulie we’re gonna leave... and when they did... the Don would look towards the only other person who’s closest to them to answer “where they’d gone too”... I know many people like the original version of this game more than the remake. But you cannot tell me that this version is not superior it has better voice acting, graphics and an even deeper story. Overall both versions are good for different reasons but imo the remake is better
I agree:) I just finished the remake of this game today and I gotta say I really enjoyed this game a lot. I loved the friendship tommy and Paulie had. Its pretty sad that Paulie died. Definitely a likeable character.
The OG is the first 3D game I ever played, and the first Game I ever finished. It is a nostalgia trip to go watch videos of it. That being said, I think the Remake is better over all in every aspect.
People are so blinded by nostalgia it’s insane. I legitimately can’t take a single sentence seriously in the originals ending because of the voice acting.
I like how Sam not killing Tommy right there when he walks in feels natural in the original he seemed like he didn’t care and should’ve killed Tommy on the spot but here you see it’s like he tries to justify himself and his voice seems like it’s just broken or morbid and you can kinda feel him hesitating when he pulls back the slide and points the gun at Tommy like if he was going to shoot him but just couldn’t idk if it’s just me but it even looks like his hand shakes for a minute throughout this fight it feels like Sam is trying to bury it away with excuses and close it from his mind like he talked about in the beginning of the game but this time he can’t I mean this is the guy that carried him to the doc the same guy who let a girl live because Sam just couldn’t let it slide then when he talks about letting Tommy go a big part of me believed him especially when he talked about Frank and how Tommy would be smarter I wouldn’t be surprised if Salieri squeezed info out of Sam considering San was the guy who said something when he saw the picture of Michelle and with how close Sam is with them and the fact Frank was let go I wouldn’t be surprised if he asked Sam questions especially with how smart Salieri can be but idk I just like how Sam actually felt messed up I bet after he killed Paulie his feelings kept biting at him a whole lot more and he just couldn’t block it out of his mind so with Tommy he got sloppy I wouldn’t be surprised if he had hoped Tommy would kill him for killing Paulie especially after he kept talking after Tommy pointed his gun at him as if he just wanted it done and over with
I wish the game gave you the choice. Like, I wasn’t attached to Frank at all, and even though Tommy technically would be I would have popped him. I also would have popped the lady. Then we should have been able to choose whether or not we did the bank job with Paulie. If we did, the game would continue as seen here. If we didn’t, the Don would order us to kill Paulie, at which point we would get to decide whether or not to shoot him or let him disappear. If we let him disappear there would be a time skip a couple months to the Don finding out about it and the game playing out basically the same as here. If we do shoot Paulie, then we try to leave the family and they try to come after you, at which point the game resumes with Tommy testifying and all that stuff. I get that it’s a remake, but it would still have been super nice to give us a choice
They stayed pretty loyal to the original story but added in a lot of little ruffles that made the game unique; having Tommy unloading on Sam as soon as he mentioned Paulie was one of favorites
I had to check out this video because I just played this part and as Sam started talking about Paulie I pulled the right trigger at the exact time that Tommy shot him. I thought that I was the one that killed him.
It's amazing how certain dialogues throughout the story are details that gain importance when we finish the game. • After the first shot, Tommy shoots Sam twice in the head, following the don's line. • On two occasions Frank talks about Salieri's instability and ruthlessness: when telling about the story of the dog (murdered when she was no longer useful) and before running away (when he reveals that he is afraid of the day the don will shoot him in the head) • Salieri had already warned Tom to be careful with Paulie's actions (the story of the drowned friends). (Sorry the mistakes, I don't know english)
Finishing this gem up, they put some craftmanship into this fasho, graphics and feel of the city is 🔥🔥 hopefully the next mafia game will be a bit more open, definitely one of the best stories I came across
Saved them from that chase at the beginning of the game, had their asses multiple times when they were about to die, and carried him to a doctor when he was nearly dead, god tommy saw his best friends die
there were Three Friends, all of the have died. Paulie killed by Sam, Sam killed by Tommy, Tommy who decided this life is no more for him, Three bullets packed straight into Sam right after he mentioned all three of them
It’s really sad seeing what the life does to good friends. One point all is well, but once one guy fucks up they have to go otherwise everyone goes down. Which explains Sam’s situation quite well. He didn’t want Paulie and Tommy gone but he didn’t wanna die. And Tommy and Paulie didn’t wanna betray the don, but he betrayed them first. So they wanted out. Basically there is no happy ending for mobsters. It always comes down to how long until you receive a bullet in your head?
Finished this game and man the emotions in this scene, Sam was saved multiple times by Paulie and Tommy for him to just betray the same people who saved him in shitty situations for a Don that could give two shits about him just man.
The first one when tom walks in is called "that don't square" and when sam is talking to tommy before his death it is called "our business has rules " from the game music album.
2:45 Ok, this is some seriously good attention to detail. Notice how Tommy is holding the pistol using the US Army's standard "tea cup" grip. This was the universal way gun instructors (and the US military) taught people to hold a semi-auto two handed prior to the 1950s. It's such a good detail that I'm blown away to see it here. This means that the development team wanted to get so many details right, that they went out of their way to research how people held guns back then to make sure it was period accurate.
I wanted to wonder what Sam was about to say like of a memory but the game is short I just wanted it to be like red dead redemption 2 like more story telling but still is a good game of mafia
Bruh I got the game a day ago and despite going to work and all, I finished it today. I feel great, sad and hungry for more, all at the same time. This game is a short and sweet experience.
Just as good as the scene in GTA IV when Niko confronts Darko. I just noticed that Tommy shoots Sam three times. One bullet from Tommy, one for Paulie, and another for Frank. Amazing.

I like how Sam not killing Tommy right there when he walks in feels natural in the original he seemed like he didn’t care and should’ve killed Tommy on the spot but here you see it’s like he tries to justify himself and his voice seems like it’s just broken or morbid and you can kinda feel him hesitating when he pulls back the slide and points the gun at Tommy like if he was going to shoot him but just couldn’t idk if it’s just me but it even looks like his hand shakes for a minute throughout this fight it feels like Sam is trying to bury it away with excuses and close it from his mind like he talked about in the beginning of the game but this time he can’t I mean this is the guy that carried him to the doc the same guy who let a girl live because Sam just couldn’t let it slide then when he talks about letting Tommy go a big part of me believed him especially when he talked about Frank and how Tommy would be smarter I wouldn’t be surprised if Salieri squeezed info out of Sam considering San was the guy who said something when he saw the picture of Michelle and with how close Sam is with them and the fact Frank was let go I wouldn’t be surprised if he asked Sam questions especially with how smart Salieri can be but idk I just like how Sam actually felt messed up I bet after he killed Paulie his feelings kept biting at him a whole lot more and he just couldn’t block it out of his mind so with Tommy he got sloppy I wouldn’t be surprised if he had hoped Tommy would kill him for killing Paulie especially after he kept talking after Tommy pointed his gun at him as if he just wanted it done and over with
I stopped playing this game after that racing mission. Then I got back on it and holy crap this became one of my favorite games this year!

I wish the game gave you the choice. Like, I wasn’t attached to Frank at all, and even though Tommy technically would be I would have popped him. I also would have popped the lady. Then we should have been able to choose whether or not we did the bank job with Paulie. If we did, the game would continue as seen here.
If we didn’t, the Don would order us to kill Paulie, at which point we would get to decide whether or not to shoot him or let him disappear. If we let him disappear there would be a time skip a couple months to the Don finding out about it and the game playing out basically the same as here. If we do shoot Paulie, then we try to leave the family and they try to come after you, at which point the game resumes with Tommy testifying and all that stuff.
I get that it’s a remake, but it would still have been super nice to give us a choice

They stayed pretty loyal to the original story but added in a lot of little ruffles that made the game unique; having Tommy unloading on Sam as soon as he mentioned Paulie was one of favorites
I had to check out this video because I just played this part and as Sam started talking about Paulie I pulled the right trigger at the exact time that Tommy shot him. I thought that I was the one that killed him.
It's amazing how certain dialogues throughout the story are details that gain importance when we finish the game.
• After the first shot, Tommy shoots Sam twice in the head, following the don's line.
• On two occasions Frank talks about Salieri's instability and ruthlessness: when telling about the story of the dog (murdered when she was no longer useful) and before running away (when he reveals that he is afraid of the day the don will shoot him in the head)
• Salieri had already warned Tom to be careful with Paulie's actions (the story of the drowned friends).

Finishing this gem up, they put some craftmanship into this fasho, graphics and feel of the city is 🔥🔥 hopefully the next mafia game will be a bit more open, definitely one of the best stories I came across

there were Three Friends, all of the have died. Paulie killed by Sam, Sam killed by Tommy, Tommy who decided this life is no more for him, Three bullets packed straight into Sam right after he mentioned all three of them
It’s really sad seeing what the life does to good friends. One point all is well, but once one guy fucks up they have to go otherwise everyone goes down. Which explains Sam’s situation quite well. He didn’t want Paulie and Tommy gone but he didn’t wanna die. And Tommy and Paulie didn’t wanna betray the don, but he betrayed them first. So they wanted out. Basically there is no happy ending for mobsters. It always comes down to how long until you receive a bullet in your head?

Finished this game and man the emotions in this scene, Sam was saved multiple times by Paulie and Tommy for him to just betray the same people who saved him in shitty situations for a Don that could give two shits about him just man.

2:45 Ok, this is some seriously good attention to detail. Notice how Tommy is holding the pistol using the US Army's standard "tea cup" grip. This was the universal way gun instructors (and the US military) taught people to hold a semi-auto two handed prior to the 1950s. It's such a good detail that I'm blown away to see it here. This means that the development team wanted to get so many details right, that they went out of their way to research how people held guns back then to make sure it was period accurate.
