I think the bravery of the Italian soldiers even during El Alamein prevented the battle from being an even bigger disaster by resisting the British attacks until they ran out of ammunition. Many such acts of bravery just forgotten because A) they lost and B) their leaders were shit by invading Greece and Egypt AT THE SAME TIME.

MAFIA III was an immense disappointment compared to the previous games. It was meant to be so promising because of how different the story and setting was but the game itself felt so hollow (no pun intended). Bar maybe 2 missions, the level design for EVERY chapter in the game was: 1. Talk to an informant/buddy about one of the sub-villains 2. Take out the sub-villains generic NPC body guards 3. Take out the sub-villain 4. Rinse and repeat till you get to the bad guy at the very top All character conversations were so dry and predictable and the city had nothing to do in it. Coming back to these videos really shows how well and lively all the character and story design elements were,
the gameplay of raiding was awesome, the city's awesome, gun's are awesome, cars are awesome, music's awesome, the racism's awesome. everything mafia 1 didn't have. Mafia 1 was a boring linear playthrough

It was repetitive as hell and was a rinse and repeat method until you kill the owner of the territory just to give it to the one of the three underbosses who were just as fucked as you are by the mob. There was no unique objective or alternative on how else you were going to take those territories, interogatting lowlives for information, it's just basically taking money, killing (or recruiting) guys in charge of certain sub-rackets, intercepting couriers or deliveries, destroying important assets, then rinse and repeat all over again. There is also nothing "awesome" about racism because that is how people were back then in the post-Vietnam era and before. Mafia I had linear missions and weird dialogue and animations, but it was still amazing and realistic to the point where you don't retain ammo still left in your pockets unless you used the shotgun, your allies die when they get shot too much and you risk getting in trouble when you break the law by committing crimes in public. It also had phenomenal storytelling because it relates to people who have worked in the Mafia before and tells you something you probably never heard of in the 2000s.
