    Perfect video, i only realized aluminum welding was happening in video 3. 1 and 2 was just steel.

    I have a TL- 200M welder. Don't confuse the selected number with voltage. As I understand it, the machine determines the voltage. The number you set the machine to tells the welder the thickness of the material you are welding. I'm not exactly sure but T think that is how it works. Enjoyed your video. Thanks.

    a good stainless wire brush to clean the metal before welding will help a lot. Keep it in the tool box or welding cart and do not use it for anything else. Of course you know what they say about direction of weld so I will not go there. I doubt that machine has a post flow but you really need a good 4 to 5 seconds when you terminate the weld to stop the fish eye. Overall I am impressed it ran okay.

    Your videos are awesome and I thank you but I think you put the liner in incorrectly. The manual says to remove the spring from the feed roller clamp and the steel liner from the part where is exits the case (figures 6-1 and 6-2). Removing the short steel liner from the case will allow the Graphene liner to come all the way to the feed rollers and I guess the spring is not needed for aluminum. In figure 6-9 in their broken english I think they are saying to trim the new liner to meet up at the edge of the feed roller.

    Great video. I’ve been up in the air about the 200, 250 or another cheapo Amazon mid welder. Most of my metal I weld I use my stick for but the thing is like 100 years old and now I’ve been dealing with lighter metal so figured I’d try out a cheap mig. Just ordered the 250 on sale for 177😮 thanks for the review video and info on the settings/ adjustments you used

    If I was you I would leave that gun set up for aluminum. Then I would buy a replacement gun for steel. Yes welder has15 ft tweco #2 style 250 Amp torches for about 90 bucks. Go to the Yeswelder site and pick one up. I was VERY impressed. My everlast had a cheaper 9ft gun on it and I replaced it just because I have always used a tweco and the consumables are everywhere and cheap. Plus my 200 Amp 221sti only came with a 180 amp torch. I have put like 5rolls of 10# wire thru it without a issue. They have them in euro type connection like mine and yours and also a standard American type like lincoln & Miller uses. Okay I am only to you putting the gun together so I will have to see how this liner works out. I have never tried aluminum without a spool gun. i have to say I am kind of impressed with these machines. I love my everlast and it is smooth but It is a it heavy to tote around if needing to do small away from the shop jobs. I might have to think about one. Great videos BTW Very well reviewed.

      I have the 200 unit already set up for steel, so no need to switch torches, but I definitely would if the 250 was my only welder. Since doing the video, I've got a little closer to getting the hang of aluminum with it. I had always TIGed aluminum before, but with losing one eye and damage in the other, this will be my aluminum go-to from now on. I'm pretty happy with it and am surprised I haven't felt the need to buy the spool gun yet.

    Great Job! Now that you've had the welder a few weeks, are you still good with the welder? I've got no experience welding but want to learn. Trying to decide on a 1st welder. The Yeswelder 205ds has a ton of good reviews but I kept coming back to to Tooliom 200. Now I'm torn between the 200, and 250.

    • @rpmchuck-nitrouschronicles
      @rpmchuck-nitrouschronicles  Рік тому +2

      If you don't care about aluminum, the 200 is definitely the better value and is supper simple to use. Just follow the chart, get a tank of 75/25 MIG gas, and go for it. Also, a decent auto darkening helmet that you can see good with makes a huge difference.

      That's hard to say. I've had the 200 for a year and ran it a bunch with no signs of problems. You never know with equipment that is priced this cheap in comparison to the legacy brands. Then again I've had expensive tools bite the dust too. At least in this price range it wouldn't hurt so bad if it does.

      I haven't tried it. My thoughts were, if it runs ok without it, I wouldn't need it. If it gives me feed issues, I'll go ahead and order one. So far, so good though. I'm wondering if the spool gun will allow more choices in wire diameter.

    Hi, can you use this machine without gas, and if so, what does the gas do? I never welled before and want to get one of this for home projects.

    • @rpmchuck-nitrouschronicles
      @rpmchuck-nitrouschronicles  Рік тому +1

      You can weld without gas with flux-core wire. Any type of welding requires some type of shielding or flux to keep the air around us from contaminating the molten weld pool before it solidifies. That can be done with a shielding gas or a flux-core wire. Most prefer using a shielding gas because it makes a much cleaner and nicer weld. Using flux-core wire doesn't look as good and has a lot more spatter around the bead. Flux-core is generally used in outdoor repairs where shielding gas might be blown away by wind. In automotive or motorsports, gas is standard.

    • @rpmchuck-nitrouschronicles

      Thanks! Unlike TIG, aluminum MIG is still DC. Although this machine does have selections on the switches for aluminum so it can adjust the synergy settings to work best.

    Once you switch the liner out for aluminum can you go back to steel without switching the liner? Or should I just buy another torch gun for steel?

    • @rpmchuck-nitrouschronicles
      @rpmchuck-nitrouschronicles  3 місяці тому

      I probably wouldn't. I'd keep that liner for just the soft aluminum to keep any cross contamination away and keep from snagging in it since it will be easy to gouge.

    Can you do a vid with the machine, tig welding aluminium. I'm wondering is it a dc or ac machine to know what sheilding gas to get, between argon and helium?

    • @rpmchuck-nitrouschronicles
      @rpmchuck-nitrouschronicles  6 місяців тому +1

      Not really the ideal machine for TIG. It would be DC only and doesn't have high frequency start. You would have to scratch or lift start the arc. If you want to try it, just use argon. I have a full featured AC/DC TIG machine (Alpha 200) but hardly use it anymore due to the loss of my left eye and depth perception issues. That's why I invested in the 2 MIG welders.

    Hi Chuck, thanks for the good video. I have TL-200M. I wonder can I modify it to use aluminum welding? I am thinking replace spring liner with graphite one and tweak the settings to get good aluminum weld. What do you think about my thinking?

    • @rpmchuck-nitrouschronicles
      @rpmchuck-nitrouschronicles  Рік тому +2

      That's what I was originally going to do before I found they had made the new 250. I was on Amazon, looking to buy a second TL-200M to leave set up on aluminum, when the 250 popped up on my search. I'd consider the cost of the liner and the "U" groove drive roller and the charging it back and forth, if that's what you plan to do. The extra power of the 250 also is useful on the aluminum. I would never use the extra power on steel. For that, the 200 is the deal.

    • @ratipati2007

    • @ratipati2007
      @ratipati2007 Рік тому +1

      @@rpmchuck-nitrouschronicles There are three sizes available in Amazon for aluminum. They are;
      U-Groove .023"-.030" for Aluminum Welding Wire
      U-Groove .030"-.035" for Aluminum Welding Wire
      U-Groove .035"-.045" for Aluminum Welding Wire

      @rpmchuck-nitrouschronicles  Рік тому +2

      @ratipati2007 I'd go with the 35-45. Start with the .035" wire and if you ever have trouble feeding, you can jump up to the bigger wire.

      @guybarnett131 220v. I've only used it once on 120 to fix something outdoors. It definitely runs waaaayyy better on 220. It basically only has half capacity on 120. The digital display won't allow you to turn it up higher than the power supply permits.
