No need to land to refuel. When you enter the new system, just jump to the next one. Your ship automatically refuels at the end of each jump. No need to land at all,
Yes, I actually really appreciated this, despite not really understanding how it works in-lore. I’ve heard the in-universe reason is because the grav drive runs of Helium-3, but how does it just regenerate when there are literally mines made to dig up He-3?

I think they designed it that way for gameplay purposes. Otherwise it starts to get too detailed oriented and becomes more of a simulator than a game. @@Bodehi_The_Archivist

Honestly the Star Eagle is a significantly better ship than the Razor Leaf. And the icing on the cake is that it’s completely free. Some modifications on the ship when you get it are normally available when your starship engineering is level 4 I think. And the quest line to get it is phenomenal too!
The thing with the Mantis ship tho is that spacers will literally leave combat when they see you
Yes it’s not great stats wise, but delete EVERYTHING on it and use it to create a whole new ship, whilst keeping it’s “anti spacers” utility on

The real end game is getting piloting and star ship design both to level 4. Then you really don't care anymore about finding ships.
One tip for the Mantis. Make sure you save the game before looting it. Each time you reload it, different effects are on it. Three different one in total. 😊

“Refuel”??? I’m nearing 50hrs of gameplay, and have never refueled any ships. The hell do you mean?
For real, I had to stop at each system on the way to Denebola, but I never landed on any of the planets. I just scanned them and moved on.
Razorleaf is good because you can get it early after doing only one quest. But as for it being one of the best in the game? Not even close. You can get a nearly perfect A-class ship, with max level tech, by completing the Freestar Rangers quest line. Its engines, reactor, and weapons would normally require you have Starship Design level 4 to install on any other ship. It also has about 2000kg of cargo space.
Yeah, the Star Eagle is better in almost every way, but it takes much longer to get it, so the Razorleaf is definitely a solid step up from the Frontier early on, and you yet the Mantis armor to boot.

free star ranger ship is so good. I immediately ditched my Mantis ship when i got it. That cargo space is so important. 2000+ if i recall correctly.
The mini gun and the grenade launcher are great for companions since you only need to give them one round of ammo and they just go to town. As for the Razorleaf it’s not the best ship, but it does have a unique property of a chance to scare pirates away. This is unique to the ship slot so you can strip the ship down to nothing and make a pink unicorn ship with no weapons and they will still run away.
LOL! I gave Sarah a grenade this playthru and you've got to pay attention! She loves lobbing them out there like candy at a parade, it's kind of hilarious, and that red grenade you see in your HUD isn't always thrown by the enemy! The benefits FAR outweigh the negatives though.
Word of advice, you can reroll the armor bonuses on armor if you save before opening the armor case and looting the mannequin. I did this for the Mantis armor set. The armor bonuses are not static so you can reroll for the ones you want.
I did exactly this with the Mantis armor as well; it's where I figured out you could reroll armor perks. Took me about 10 minutes of rerolling to get a set with all the perks I was looking for.
When do you need to save to reroll it? Is it just before opening or before you enter that section of the compound? @@barny15

@@Melmsie Just before opening. I saved right in front of the glass case containing the armor, and then just kept reloading until I got all the stats I was looking for.

The "Secret Outpost" note can be bought from the shop in New Atlantis too as well as civilian outposts if none is dropping. Chances are if it's not dropping on spacers, it will likely be in a shop during that rotation of their goods.
Note about the mantis quest, if you've invested in lockpicking there is a master door next to the puzzle room. Inside is the terminal to disable the turrets.
I always recalibrate the friend/foe settings so that turrets or bots will target everyone but me
HUGE NOTE: Make sure when you go to Toliman and are talking to the commander at the end of the speech you choose the option that says “sure, sure.. but I want a big gun” or something like that. It caused the heavy minigun the guy gives to roll legendary for me!

@@fastnezy8984 Wow, I must have had insane luck getting it my first round. Since it was my first roll I figured it was default. I play the game on Very Hard difficultly so that could do it. I figured it was the dialog choice, but sounds like it’s just random
Man I’ve reloaded 15x for Toliman II and even made sure very hard was set before I even jumped to the system it’s in and in that first area I still haven’t had a legendary weapon spawn. So far only 2 epics…. Rest of the guide was great! I just don’t understand why I’m getting all grey garbage on Toliman II with very high set. I’ll try a few more times then moving on I suppose.

You have it set to very very hard before you even load onto the planet. Make sure you are set on very hard while still in space and then land.
Reckless Bombardment is actually a mortar bombardment weapon with a fixed range. Shoot above your enemies, not at their feet, to see it explode and rain down an AoE of even more explosions, dealing more damage than if you hit them directly with it.
Is it worth buying? I have 500k so not too worried about the price but the ammo seems kinda rare.
@@KingEdwardMMVIII I'd give it a try to see how it works, but honestly the range can be a problem. During the line of missions in which you get it the thing was useful but don't think it's any good in indoor fights
AFTER YOU FIND A LEGENDARY, MAKE A NEW SAVE AND THEN IF YOU WANT TO TRY AGAIN FOR A BETTER LEGENDARY YOU CAN STILL GO BACK AND GET THAT GUN (IF YOU DONT FIND ONE) AND USE THAT SAVE MADE PREVIOUSLY
The armor and weapons are random bonus's unless named , even then they have random extras , your mantis armor had capacity , i had to re roll 50+ times to get capacity . Just a heads up . Unless it only says like excalibur then its gonna be random , the mantis isnt called mantis , its something mantis armor of something . 😊
Yep, if you save before you open the case and interact with the mannequin you can open it over and over getting random rolls on the effects till you get something you like. I got carry capacity and lower material weight on my suite and pack and headshot damage on my helm.
@@ClusterDSA Personally, I got weapons weigh 50% less and resources reduced by 25% on my suit and pack.
Yeah I went with the extra 60 weight capacity, took about 15 rolls to get it

You can reroll the mantis gear by saving before you open the case by the way, similar to what you showcased earlier in the video, I chose to do this for the mantis armor and was not let down by rerolling it until feeling it was near Max roll 💯 worth while and only took a extra 10-15 mins 😊
For the mantis quest you can also shoot the turrets and then let your companion take them down while you sit in cover. You can then just sprint all the way across the room without the puzzle
I've played about 70 hours and am super deep into the game. Weapons and armor work on a tiered system that isn't clear up front. I'd suggest waiting until you're getting gear with "advanced" in the name before you spend too much time rerolling low level gear. Legendaries that aren't "advanced" will eventually be outclassed, even if you get a good roll on them.
Edit: There is currently no way to upgrade a non-advanced item to advanced.

Since you keep nothing going ng+ there really is no reason at all to worry about loot until ng+10 (when things stop scaling).
@@Syaniiti yes and no, depending on how long someone wants to spend on their first playthrough (me 😂). But I'm also just using what I like and modding things to my taste, instead of rerolling stuff to no end.

Completing the Free Ranger alliance faction missions gives you the best ship in the game btw. I turned it into a purely fighter ship with 100 agility and 150 speed, while maintaining its 2400 cargo space, 7 crew space with over 700 shields. And if you built it right you'll have almost max power and fully maxed missiles and lazors.
Absolutely not the best, walter (after progressing the main story) will give you a quest where if you chose the right options gives you a free class c ship with almost 4k cargo the only downside is you need the piloting skill ranked up
@@dabomb4789 Doesn't that depend on what you consider "best"? The Class C ship is great for hauling but not as great for combat. The Freestar Ranger "Star Eagle" after you have become a Freestar Ranger is fantastic for combat.
I’m almost finished and the freestar quest is bugged. It got stuck on follow Emma and no matter what I do she is just standing in the top room of the rock and I can’t talk to her. I tried the great Laredo caper and still nothing. Really bummed because I wanted that ship bad

Have you tried to load a save that was slightly earlier? If nothing else load a Save Game from the beginning of that Faction Questline.

I'm about to get to Toliman in my NG+ tonight with the hopes that my current level will also affect the spawned gear as Calibrated in the video is just a step above base gear. I'm already seeing most legendary gear drop in the Advanced range BUT Superior is also a higher tier available from what I've seen. Ideally, whenever you're doing this in your sandbox save (i.e. done with NG+'s) you'll want to roll this the highest possible for the rest of the game. It's easily the sickest looking gear out of all the sets, so I'm going to be save scrubbing if I don't get at least advanced in my campaign.
Correction on Mantis. Drop a quicksave before you open the case. Every load rerolls the legendary effects on it. If you like a roll, PICK UP THE ITEMS AND THEN MAKE A SEPARATE SAVE. I think until you pick it up, the game can reroll the legendaries but I haven't fully tested that. I just noticed that a save I dropped after getting a pretty good roll didn't have the same effects when I loaded it.
I made 10 saves of the best rolls I came across before realizing I had to pick it up to lock in the stats 🫠🫠
Personally I think I got one of the god rolls for the mantis with the helm: Resources 25% less and +20% accuracy while firing on the move, Armorplated jetpack with +100 resistance to Enrgy, Physical, +20 Carry and -10% incoming phy, enrgy, and em damage, and lastly Mechanized spacesuit with 116 phy, combat vet, -15% damage from human, wpn holsters: weigh 50% less and mechanized: +40 carry cap
Edit: I've just found out that, when you save and landed on Londinion to reroll for legendries, always check the weapon box beside the UC guy on the firing range, I got a legendary explosive calibrated urban eagle hand gun with anti personnel, lacerate, and explosive

The perks on the Mantis armor are RANDOMLY generated when you click on the set. It IS NOT correct to say that one of the items increases carry weight by 20kg…the RNG roll you got gave you that perk. It’s random. Having said that, create a save just before inspecting the mantis armor set. If you don’t like the perks, reload and try again. My faves are combat veteran / hostess / mechanized, but your mileage may vary.

With the puzzle room on the mantis quest, if you have digipicks and you have the lock picking skill up to level 3, you can hack into the computer nearby and disable the turrets and you’ll be able to walk right across it

You can save before opening the mantis case and reroll the traits it has. I did that until I got all 3 pieces that made my playthrough better.
Sorry if someone already said this but just an FYI.
The mantis armour is not a set roll. I picked it up once, got smoked by some of the robots then reloaded and the perks were totally different.
You can even save Infront of it and keep reloading until you get a roll you want

Don't worry about stopping at settlements to refuel. Think of it more like a travel limit than an actual refuel.

In regards to traveling to Denebola you dont need to land at any planet along the way to refuel. I just did the mission and was able to hop from system to system along the route without needing to refuel and i was only using the Frontier

Perks on armor are random rolled bwfore you pick them up [mantis set] so you can save scum for a good pwrk roll infront of it with the case open. So long as you have not already interacted with the mannequin
The mantis spacesuit has different effects every time you load so unless you’re lucky you have to save scum for good ones like carry capacity
You don’t need to land on a settlement for refuel , just fast travel there , the secret outpost item drop easily , I had 2 of them before I realised that’s a quest
The part regarding Toliman II will only work if you follow the instructions given during the FIRST play-through. If you clean out the items on the first time through and then go back later and follow the instructions given about changing to Very Hard the game will not allow you to get the items again, or "re-roll" for a better item.
As for an awesome handgun for free. Once you complete the Constellation Quest for Vladimir he tells you about his house. Searching through the house you find a room behind a locked door. In that room, you will find a Magshot called "The Mutineer". It may be possible to roll the stats on this but I played through it on Easy and the stats I got were:
Phys - 259
Fire Rate - 161
Range - 30
Accuracy - 63.1%
Mass 5.2
Value - 40967
Magnetic Rails
Compensator
Depleted Uranium Rounds
Fully Automatic
I had found a mark one space suit somewhere and it just has way higher stats then I can find on anything else and looks kinda like a consultation suit

If you change it to hard when looking for weapons and armor to make combat easy do you need to change it back to easy save then load?
also if your in easy when in combat if you change it to hard after then save and reload does that change what you can loot from the fallen enemies?
The Trickshot pistol is a really good gun considering how early you can get it. My only problem with it was ammo. Once ammo for it became a non issue I had already pretty much retired it.
You don't need to spell out anything, just stand at the corner before you go into the puzzle room, kneel and aim so that you aim around the corner and shoot out the turrets. They will fire back but I think I only got hit once or twice by doing this then I just ran through the room. I hate puzzles.
The stats on the Mantis armor are not static, they'll be different for everyone and it's easy to fudge what you get by saving BEFORE you open the container and looting the armor. If you don't like that stats reload and do it again.
The flight simulator also counts for destroying enemy ships to advance the Piloting perk

The note can drop from Spaces anywhere. I got mine from some random spacer ship landing on a planet I was surveying.

Tolima II still works as of now, Aug 13th. Just got a legendary shotgun from the locked chest.
I used the legends UC anti Xeno armor through my entire first play through once I got it. The repulsing mantis helmet, mirrored pack and I forget what suit I got from the mantis was amazing but I switched that out for the anti xeno stuff immediately. And used it for my crimson fleet RP. Lol. I wish they let us change out skins.
I forget where but I found a Grendel legendary they starts with 14 damage when most are around 5. It’s bullets alternate as explosive rounds, it’s occasionally corrosive and it gets more powerful shot after shot. Truly OP.
The Mantis armor can actually roll with +20 and +40 carry weight. Save scum before picking it up, and reroll until you get both. I actually hit both, along with less resource weight and a bunch of good defense mods. It can take a while, but man is +60 worth it.
I wish I did this, I got lucky with my stats though since theyre really solid. Im not going to redo 6 hours of gameplay for it though LOL. Im keeping this in mind for NG+
@@VaImorian Yeah, probably not worth restarting. And my personal god roll would be +60 weight, and headhunter. But I got bored after a while, and settled.
I got chameleon, 25% less weight and less o2 when carrying to much, less damage from physicial or something and some radiaton protection.
Dont remember the rest but im glad i took the 5 min to reroll
Re the Mantis puzzle. There is a locked computer nearby you can pick which shuts off the trap so you don’t need to walk the correct path of letters.
Just FYI, affixes on legendaries are random, even on named legendaries. It's not clear if this is a bug or intended, but if you want specific affixes you may need to save scum from before you enter the area.
Some legendaries have static affixes, like the legendary suit you get on the UC Vanguard questline which he showed, but Mantis doesn't.
i found the note in my first 30 min on kreet at the abandoned outpost or wherever the higher level spacers are great loot too
On the Mantis mission if your fast enough you can just run your way through the lasers 😂😂 I couldn’t figure out the puzzle

On the Mantis quest you can skip the Tyrannis puzzle. I haven't seen anyone mention this so far but just to the right of the room there's a hallway with a hackable terminal that can disable the puzzle's turrets. Feel free to shoot the turrets after for bonus XP.
Discovered this myself yesterday, makes me wish I hadn't killed Livvy just so I could see his reaction.
You can also skip the puzzle by just jumping over the squares. You can't spell the word wrong if you never trigger any of the letters.
Its a master lock tho, not everyone can open it
screw tyrannys puzzle, just blow up the turrets with 40mm XPL gun
You don’t have to spell out Tyrannis to get the razor leaf. That just helps you avoid fighting some turrets.
You can find the secret outpost slate on the first planet you go to. When you land there is another site to the left there are pirates fighting a teramoph. Get inside the building it should be in there.
I'm pretty sure the SECRET OUTPOST note spawns on the first spacer (possibly pirate or ecliptic) goon you kill in your game after the tutorial stuff on Vectara and Kreet.

How many times did you have to re-load Toliman II? I have rerolled the planet a fair few times and the only things CONSISTANTLY legendary, are the armour pieces =T Yes, at Very Hard Difficulty. Perhaps they patched it?
If you find a very powerful weapon but you are always low on ammo give it to your companion and just one of that type of ammo and they will have unlimited ammo for that weapon compared to you using it and only having a few shots. That way you get both the use of that high damage weapon and unlimited shots with it.
Just be careful when giving those instigating grenade launchers.

LOL the guns in this game have bullets that magically shoot towards the target even while the gun isn't pointed at it. The bullets also sometimes come from outside around the gun instead of out the barrel. The melee weapons can also attack without motion at times.
Puzzle room tip!!!!! (Mantis lair) Use amp and run across and hit the button, you don't even have to put the word in, 4 playthroughs and all of them I haven't solved that puzzle 😂
Hello Titanfall reference. It might not be obviously. Trick Pistol is just very on the nose, while being found in a Mech. Would seems like a reference to me.
The legendary perks are random. You won't get the same stuff as someone else. On the mantis armor, just save before you pick it up and then check what it is. If you don't like it, reload the save until you get what you want. I got plus 40 carry capacity, resources weigh 25% less, guns weigh 50% less, the chameleon perk, the headhunter perk where if you shoot someone in the head the next shoot does increased damage, minus 15% damage from humans, plus 25 resistance to I believe airborne and I forget the last 2. I'm assuming that works anytime you find a legendary item. Just save before picking it up and reloading until you get what you like. I'm not sure if the damage will change for weapons or not though.
U get every ammo really reliable when u hit a higher level. By lvl 25 and up u should be able to find every ammo.
The Razorleaf is good, but I like that one Ecliptic ship you can get on Kreet south of the solar farm.

I got insanely lucky with the Tolimar II Minigun. It had Extended Magazine, Rapid and Shattering.
Just FYI on the topic of refueling you don't need to land at least on Xbox you just have to grav jump to a system to refuel
if im not wrong if you do mission for freeland collective for pick up other legendary stuff like the ship and weapon you cant do mission for uc
I have already done that mission on Tolmin 2, missed a lot of stuff, however the planet is hidden once again and not showing up in my star map
10:07 Either do the puzzle or what I did... shoot all four turrets at the other end. Then just walk to the door without needing to spell anything out on the floor.

also don't forget the free katana on neon (with the theft skill) - that thing is awesome for stealth melee builds

I got the trickshot else where, it is random. The easiest way through the puzzle is to use your jump pack and you disable the lasers before doing it.
140 ish hours and counting since early acces, playing on very hard from the start. Really enjoying the game. Got the razorleaf and mantis set, and the uc set. A square ton of weapons. Inc the ones mentioned here. But seeing this. I must have the crappiest RNG on the planet. Outside of that I found 1 legendary 27mm pistol and 1 legendary deep mining helmet. Very good roll but I use the UC set.
The pistol from Vlad's house is pretty cool too. Hits like a truck.
Crimson Fleet legendary quest reward pistol is pretty close second. Think it uses the same ammo but different perks.
1:53 pistol's value is show 37K credits, first of all. 2nd, value shown in inventory never matches the willingness to pay of traders. It's always lower. Even with full trading perk there is no chance to sell anything at full value
before entering the mantis puzzle room there is a computer just passed the door, you can hack it to turn off the puzzle as well.
Recommendation: most of the missable locations id wait to go for until youre higher level and then theyll have a chance at not only being higher rarity but also higher tier. Advanced being the highest tier weapon/gear
Apparently there's actually a tier above Advanced called Superior, but I have yet to personally come across it. Keep your eyes peeled.
@@Gr13fM4ch1n3 I've yet to come across it at lvl 82 either. So if it exists it's likely lvl 100+ despite it supposedly being lvl 50.
Does the difficulty really even change what you find in crates? I know enemies spawn with better loot on very hard but I’ve found more legendaries on normal than very hard. I’ve tried this multiple times and it’s never worked for with crates….
Did they fix the "reloading into a planet and changing the loot" system? I have reloaded the save multiple times and the weapons are the same. The suits in the display cases are the only thing to change.
oh that's how you did that puzzle, haha, I found a good Beowulf just at the turrets and shot them one after another :), first one, boom boom booom, ran out, got out of combat and repeat :)
Don’t forget you can “save scum” the mantis armor as well. IMPORTANT: load into the area on very hard, BEFORE you open the armor case with the Mantis armor, quick save, THEN open the case and check the perks/stats. If you don’t like the perks, or they don’t match your build or theme, reload the quick save and repeat until you get the perks you like.
Does difficulty effect the rolls? Or are their specific abilities that only happen on harder difficulties?
@@calebmahoney2448 yes the difficulty will affect the rolls, BUT since this mantis armor is always legendary you will always get 3 perks no matter what. But on a higher difficulty you have a higher chance of getting more rare rolls. Loading into an area with the very hard difficulty selected affects the loot table for that area and increases the chance of getting higher tier weapons and higher rarity weapons with better traits for rare, epic, and legendary items.

Put a silencer and long range setup for the explosive aa99 and go farm a planet. It’s hilarious. You melt everything before they even reach you.

The toliman 2 legendary armor is a fixed roll and will always have the same legendary affixes no matter how many times you reload.
The best ship is in the city of neon, at the bottom of the city, down the elevator, at Taylon Industries, talk to the woman in the black uniform, and the ship costs 430K credits, it's expensive but it's worth it
