The place should remain the same, but the times should definitely be changed by the Almighty. God, restore America to its former glory, to be the land of the free and hope to the oppressed around the globe, I beseech You.( a humble and God-fearing 62-year old Polish man from Warsaw)

I was born in 1948. We got our first t.v. set in 1956. It was a HUGE box that was a black and white. It was an RCA with tubes that always went bad. I would lay in front of that big box watching the musicals. I loved the musicals. Then I saw this blond lady singing a song, and immediately fell in love. I was eight years old. For decades I was totally in love with this lady. She was,”MY GIRL”. I watched every show she was in. When I would see her kissing some actor or ,”other guy” I was pissed.
Decades passed. Then one day I wanted to see how old this blond bombshell in my heart was. I was immediately devastated. Doris Day was the same age as my mother. They are both gone now. Now, I can thank GOD for the memories those old movies bring back.
Rest In Peace to my mom and Doris Day. The name of my life’s partner of over thirty years, is DORIS. How lucky can I get.

I believe someone, maybe a critic, said Doris Day’s voice is one in a million. She has perfect pitch. Being a fan of hers since I was 6 ( now 71). I never tired of her music or her romantic comedies. Rock Hudson, James Garner, Rod Taylor and Cary Grant! Could the cast of those movies get any better ?! Not having the nicest childhood, with parents drinking then fighting, I would go to my room and listen to Doris. It was like popping a Valium. Truthfully, I still can’t grasp she’s no longer with us. She was my role model, inspiration. I clung to her during those tough times at home. I was honored to meet her on her 90/92 birthday celebration. Wouldn’t you know, when I was two minutes away from her, I froze!! We smiled at me and I smiled back. I felt like we were looking into each other’s souls. I finally shook myself out of my trans and said, “ Doris, I don’t know what to say to you except, how much you are loved. I think she must have been in the same “zone” I was. She pulled me down by the back of my neck and kissed me! She was one those famous celebrities that really cared about her fans. Liz Taylor? Barbra Streisand? No. Doris genuinely loved us, often calling us family.
      #1 in my opinion!
      ❤️❤️❤️

I love her fabulous voice too for a long long time . I love Barbara Streisand's voice just as much. They are different and incomparable. Nobody has the most beautiful voice in the world because it depends on the sensitivity of each one. For example, I prefer Sarah Vaughan to Ella Fitzerald... Listen to "I'll be seeing you" live at Tivoli (Copenhagen) it's a pure marvel of Sarah and you will understand me. Good discovery

Many years ago, I read a biography of her life. She was from Cincinnati, and was first a DANCER. As a youth, she took dance lessons and performed with her brother until she had a bad accident that crushed many leg bones. Doctors literally reassembled those bones and they healed well enough for her to dance in Broadway musicals. Her work was impeccable...and she did many genres well. Rock Hudson, arguably the most handsome actor to ever grace Hollywood's studios, said of Doris that she was "too perfect". Her success was real; it did not come "easy" but was genuinely deserved and the result of her intelligence and hard work. She was not "lucky" in life OR in love. Her husband-business manager squandered away her fortune and left her in humble circumstances. Yet she thrived. God rest her soul. I was blessed to grow up when her music, dancing and her indomitable optimism entertained us on TV.

She sued and won a portion of her money back. Then her son took over management of her finances and investments. They invested heavily in real estate thus making Doris a very wealthy (200 million) woman.

I first fell in love with this wonderful voice in 1949 while still at school. The number I recall was ,Canadian Capers, and at that time I had yet to discover what a beautiful sparkling lady turned out to be the owner of this truly amazing talent. Over all the years since then Doris Day has never disappointed me whether in film roles, dancing, singing or in interviews.Whatever the song her diction is impeccable, expression perfect for every number. May you have many more years Doris and thanks for all the pleasure you,ve given to me and all your countless fans.

DorIs was my mentor, role model as I was growing up. In an extremely dysfunctional home, her voice of pure velvet helped calm me down. I saw my first movie her acting. “Young at Heart.” I couldn’t take my eyes off her, she sobbed at Frank’s bedside, and it took my mom awhile to calm me down. Then DorIs sang. That was it for me! I loved her before I even knew her name. I’m 69 now. When DorIs passed 2 years ago, I felt as though I had lost a family member. The end of her life was very much like the movie I saw at 6. The tears, once again began to flow. She’s in heaven, joyous with her friends and family. We are here to carry her legacy of her passion for animals.

Never will there be another Doris Day. She loved her fans like family and has even said that we were family. Personally, I chose her in my 6 yr old mind to be my mom. Her face lit up when children were around. She adored them. Her talents were second to none. Her voice was flawless . I spent my entire life hoping I might see her someday. On 4/4/14, my dream came true as she walked into the area we all were. Those gorgeous blue eyes and that famous smile.... I froze as we stared into each other’s each other’s eyes. Finally , I pulled myself together, looked at her and said , “ I. Don’t know what to say to you except how much you are loved!” She pulled me down to her and kissed me!i returned a peck on her cheek and started to walk away. She kept yelling at me how sweet I was as I walked away. I so wanted to turn around and go back and just hug her. I will never forget that evening. It was the type of thing dreams are made from. She passed on 5/13/19. Today is 8/10/20. Her loss was much like that of losing a family member. I’m slowing getting my mind straight, but it’s been one of the most difficult things I’ve had to deal with. I loved her very much. Goldie Hawn said it best “The great Doris Day passed away. She took a piece of the sun with her.” So very true.

My mom and I were watching Young at Heart. Doris was sobbing sitting at Frank’s bedside. I started crying. It took mom a while to calm me down! Then I heard her sing. At 6 years old Now 68, I’ve been a fan since that movie. Doris Day is humble, her fans were often referred to as family. Doris came into the picture as mom with the sweetest voice and friendly eyes. During my young age, I thought it would be wonderful if I could have a mom like her. In my young childhood mind, she became my imaginary mom. I can’t help but think she made me a better person. I’m sick of violent bloody crime shows and reality shows. This was a minimalist yet utterly flawless rendition. One bends forward, eager, pleading to hear the next phrase to come. She does not demand one's attention, she intimates, almost whispers and the audience is right there. That takes incredible talent and confidence.

+Brian Turner ...very astute observation...so true. Thanks for that. Doris was a far greater talent than she was ever recognized to be.

Doris Day, with the clear, beautiful voice, a long-time favorite of mine. She was also reputed to be a very nice lady, never saying anything but something nice about whoever she was asked about by interviewers. She had a long life and it is with difficulty that we must let her go, but we have her beautiful recordings so she'll always be within reach!
(Doris left us on 5-13-19, at age 97, after suffering with pneumonia for two weeks. This is a lovely tribute to those great people, some of the leading men she worked with, and chose to show us in this tribute, we won't forget them either! Thank you, DD! And RIP.)

She sang My Secret Love in Calamity Jane , a movie I saw when I was a child and I fell in love with her. Always thought she was the best, the prettiest, with the voice of an angel. TY Doris for sharing your beauty with the world.

Superbly sung with real meaning. So much better than that other version (you know the one I mean).
