Barbra Streisand has the loveliest and sweetest voice of all time. When a singer can bring tears to your eyes, they have done their job in full and beyond. BRAVO!! BRAVO!!
I’ve no idea what you are talking about. Is this Goose a household name as Barbara was in the 70s and 80s? I doubt it. Does “bringing us back to this beautiful masterpiece” earn the Goose the affection of the general public? Bringing “us” back? You probably weren’t even born back then. It’s just typical of today’s… celebrities, having not the discipline to churn out their own ideas, that they want to grab the coat-tails of the great and the good, to try to haul them back down to their level. The most exquisite voice … she has such a gift that she has shared with us for 6 decades! I will be eternally fascinated and fulfilled listening to her sing💕
My grandma died recently, and she had a music box that would open and play this song. Heard the lyrics for the first time today. I can't stop listening. I miss her so much.
It's not just the fantastic voice or the beautiful song, it's the way she becomes the song. Her body is in the music as much as her voice is. I've watched this video several time just to enjoy how she performs it.
Yes, that's a good way of saying it. I never could put a finger on it. She lives whatever she is singing. But it's real, you know? It's not put on in a fake, dramatic way. (Even when she's performing in a movie.) That's why you can't take your eyes off her and your guts feel like they're being turned inside out. The word, "gifted", is so overused. But she truly was.
I love this song so much and I love her voice even more. Happy 82nd to our favorite singers’ inspiration, to the incomparable, iconic, and to one of the greatest singers of all time, Barbra Streisand! ❤🥳🎉🎊4/24/2024

I’m only 29. I recently got into Barbara hearing her studio live cover of Make A Garden Grow & was blown away. Her voice is like a powerful velvet rope it’s hard to put into words.
Her voice is so sweet and powerfull that I get immediately emotional and touched. The melody lifts you up and it feels you fly out of this time and go back to the happines in the early days.
Perfection. When she sings the last line, "Look, a new day has begun" and she sings the word "begun" on a high note to end the song is simply magical. It just seamlessly blends in with the music and just sounds ethereal like another world. No other version that I could find on UA-cam, even the ones showing Broadway performances by Elaine Page or the new version by Jennifer Hudson does this. They end the note low. All amazing singers but this version by Barbara Streisand just takes it to the next level with that note.
mn ht she is the only one in history to pull that off , that high note is a pianissimo note , professional singers know that you basically need to be born with that talent because there is not academic technique to help you to achieve that so .. Barbra is the only pop singers that I know able to do this kind of feat You have searched on UA-cam and no one does it , are you going to tell me that all those other singers don’t want to finish this amazing song with note ? Of course yes .. can they ? Of course not !!!
@@MrLuis85698 Wow! I had no idea. No wonder the other singers don't do it because they can't do it! And no wonder why I love Barbara's version so much. Thanks so much for the info!
mn ht they say it is a technique, but I know there is not technique in the world to hit notes in pianissimo (the voice needs to float in the air ) the same applies for the whistle register ( only few like Mariah Carey ) can pull those whistle notes , but as hard as a whistle note is , the pianissimo notes are even way rarer .. very seldom you hear those notes , you know in the men side who can do that often effortlessly: Andrea Bocelli , his last note with Celine Dion is a male pianissimo, he is a tenor it sounds heavier but you can tell he is placing the sound as if the sound floats softly in the air “ and those high soft notes require a golden breath control to about breaking off
Barbra Streisand is such a perfection❤️ A very talented singer, actress, concert and movie producer, concert and movie director, songwriter and a filmmaker👏👏👏

Steve. The greatest female singer of all time and a voice that comes round every 100 years. She has no rival. When she was younger her friends called her The girl with the voice. How right they were. Simply stunning in every way.
Simone Simons from Epica did a beautiful intimate tribute of this for her Facebook audience on March 25th 2020 as a tribute to the dark nights we seem to be having lately. It was spectacular. Maybe not as spectacular as this one. But spectacular all the same.

I love how she spends her time, to break down each and every note, every musical sequence and puts them all together! Perfection of each and every second! Equals magnificent beauty! So is Barbra Streisand.
I love Barbara Streisand's voice more than anything with all my heart. Barbara, my star and a gem with a voice that touches and moves my heart, Barbara, I love your voice ❤️❤️
There has never been and there will never be another who surpasses Barbara. Her voice is one in a trillion. No opera star, no pop favorite, NO ONE has and ever will be superior to Barbara. The Gods reached down on the day she was born and declared a miracle was to take place. BARBARA
I took voice when I was in my teens but there were no opportunities for a kid from a small town. I would put in cassettes and sing along with Barbra while doing my housework and sing to my children. Her voice is so strong. I emulated every nuance of voice

I have never been a musical person but there is something wonderful when she sings. I have always loved her personality and how it flows with every lyric she sings. She is just a beautiful person who makes you feel better inside. Thank You!
@@julitaal-haddad8584 She didn't. Elaine Page originated it when she was the very first Grizabella in Cats from 1981-1982 in the West End. This is a cover.
Many decades ago, I first heard Betty Buckley and Elaine Page sing this song. My immediate thought: I've got to hear Streisand sing this. It would take another decade or so before I would finally discover this recording. The wait was worth it.
The range. The perfect pitch. The expressiveness. When she graces heaven, angels will have to learn how to song all over again. Can you imagine her with Tony? Pavorrati? Fleming? Ella! Natalie Cole?
I love this song so much, it’s probably my favorite song of hers. Her voice is so so beautiful, amazing, and talented. She’s inspired so many singers. Happy 81st Birthday to one of the all-time greatest singers, Barbra Streisand! We love you forever! ❤❤🥳🎉🎊4/24/2023

@Layton T. Montgomery im sure African Americans and other people of color had fun too. Not as much as white people yes. But blues hip hop and other beautiful thing came form them as well and its quite enjoyable to listen and appreciate even years later.
A wonderful song performed by the ultimate female artist of her generation. I have been fortunate to grow up through the eras of amazing music and outstanding performers. It has been a fantastic journey for me, and being able to listen to such a consumate professional whose voice and amazing personality flows through ages has made that journey so memorable...

Midnight, not a sound from the pavement
Has the moon lost her memory?
She is smiling alone
In the lamplight, the withered leaves collect at my feet
And the wind begins to moan
Memory, all alone in the moonlight
I can dream of the old days
Life was beautiful then
I remember the time I knew what happiness was
Let the memory live again
Every street lamp seems to beat
A fatalistic warning
Someone mutters and the street lamp sputters
And soon it will be morning
Daylight, I must wait for the sunrise
I must think of a new life
And I mustn't give in
When the dawn comes, tonight will be a memory too
And a new day will begin
Burnt out ends of smoky days
The stale, cold smell of morning
A street lamp dies, another night is over
Another day is dawning
Touch me, it's so easy to leave me
All alone with the memory
Of my days in the sun
If you touch me, you'll understand what happiness is
Look, a new day has begun

Agree.
Agree!!!!
Her voice is so sweet and powerfull that I get immediately emotional and touched. The melody lifts you up and it feels you fly out of this time and go back to the happines in the early days.
No words can describe this perfection. Breathtaking voice.
I totally agree. I learned to play this song in the piano because of Barbara.
I never thought anyone could sing that better than Elaine Paige. But wow, of course, Barbara!!!
I love her voice so much!!!
Barbra is the only pop singers that I know able to do this kind of feat
You have searched on UA-cam and no one does it , are you going to tell me that all those other singers don’t want to finish this amazing song with note ? Of course yes .. can they ? Of course not !!!
@@MrLuis85698 Wow! I had no idea. No wonder the other singers don't do it because they can't do it! And no wonder why I love Barbara's version so much. Thanks so much for the info!
mn ht they say it is a technique, but I know there is not technique in the world to hit notes in pianissimo (the voice needs to float in the air ) the same applies for the whistle register ( only few like Mariah Carey ) can pull those whistle notes , but as hard as a whistle note is , the pianissimo notes are even way rarer .. very seldom you hear those notes , you know in the men side who can do that often effortlessly: Andrea Bocelli , his last note with Celine Dion is a male pianissimo, he is a tenor it sounds heavier but you can tell he is placing the sound as if the sound floats softly in the air “ and those high soft notes require a golden breath control to about breaking off
ITS LIKE THOUSANDS OF ANGELS CAME DOWN FROM HEAVEN TO SING FOR US...

Barbra Streisand is such a perfection❤️ A very talented singer, actress, concert and movie producer, concert and movie director, songwriter and a filmmaker👏👏👏
My mum’s favourite singer was Barbra, we say our final goodbye this week to my mum.
Lots of Barbra will be played ❤
My mom passed at 52 in 1989 and I was only 24. She never got to see her granddaughter (she just turned 26) Barbara was her favorite. Hard to swallow and not cry every time I hear her sing. I miss you mom 💔
I'm right there with you... today marks 20 years for my mother.. so sorry for your loss
@@mikeking3507 Moms are special. Sorry for both your losses.

Nostalgic songs
I've always thought Barbra Streisand has one of the most beautiful voices in the world
Steve. The greatest female singer of all time and a voice that comes round every 100 years. She has no rival. When she was younger her friends called her The girl with the voice. How right they were. Simply stunning in every way.
@@andyhaslam9231 beautiful voice but behind Karen Carpenter and Kate Bush for me. Just my opinion though.
I agree
Simone Simons from Epica did a beautiful intimate tribute of this for her Facebook audience on March 25th 2020 as a tribute to the dark nights we seem to be having lately.
It was spectacular. Maybe not as spectacular as this one. But spectacular all the same.
C est une voix venue d ailleurs...
Наречена е "грозното патенце на Холивуд", но никой никога не може да сбърка невероятния и глас.

I don't think I have heard a song from Barbra Streisand that I disliked. Her voice is unmatched. Absolutely love her. 🙂❤

Streisand in the song "Memory" makes a human being proud to be as such.
Supernatural masterpiece
Barbara, you have a celestial voice.
@Hello how are you doing
I love how she spends her time, to break down each and every note, every musical sequence and puts them all together! Perfection of each and every second! Equals magnificent beauty! So is Barbra Streisand.
That drop is like 'The Way We Were' this song was meant for Ms. Streisand❤
Well said...Streisand owns this song!
Ha please this song was made for Betty Buckley although Streisand sung it Beautifuly it always brings a tear to my eye
Agreed!

What a voice in 2024
Memories are so important
Barbara shares her stunning voice with us. And we remember when
Very nice comment to make. You were spot on with your assessment.
This was my mother’s favorite song. She passed on 1984 and I still cry every time I hear it

I’m sorry for your loss
Sad for your loss. Been there!
I love Barbara Streisand's voice more than anything with all my heart. Barbara, my star and a gem with a voice that touches and moves my heart, Barbara, I love your voice ❤️❤️
❤
Its weird listening to this during the coronavirus quarantine. Really melancholic for times before hardships. It’s just, it fits you know?
Alex We try to face each new day with some measure of optimism, but sometimes a touch of melancholy seeps in. Barbra touches my heart, especially now.
I just about to say that.
I agree. I am remembering my dad 💖
Pray we can come out of this nightmare
J B I’m aware, I’m not saying it’s about everything going on, I just think it gives me the same somber feeling.
She is the best. Beautiful voice, Monday morning during quarantine time she make me cry in here in Venezuela.
There has never been and there will never be another who surpasses Barbara. Her voice is one in a trillion. No opera star, no pop favorite, NO ONE has and ever will be superior to Barbara. The Gods reached down on the day she was born and declared a miracle was to take place. BARBARA
She hated the second" a " in her name
I took voice when I was in my teens but there were no opportunities for a kid from a small town. I would put in cassettes and sing along with Barbra while doing my housework and sing to my children. Her voice is so strong. I emulated every nuance of voice
this was one of my late wife and i's favourite songs of all time. it still brings tears to my eyes as i can feel her so near to me when it plays. rod

Peace to you Rod
I feel exactly the same way. This makes me feel so close to my daughter who passed away last December of Cancer. I miss her so so much. This song helps to ease the pain.
❤️
My husband's too. He passed last year 2021. 3 weeks after covid vax. He was so tall and fit. Ex army...he had a massive stroke. I do get some comfort from the music he loved.
One of the best singers of all time
Einfach umwerfend ❤
I have never been a musical person but there is something wonderful when she sings. I have always loved her personality and how it flows with every lyric she sings. She is just a beautiful person who makes you feel better inside. Thank You!

How lucky we are to be able to hear this woman sing any time we want to!
OMG, Streisand is the queen of this song. i have never hear a better version!
She is the one who *made* it what did you expect
@@julitaal-haddad8584 She didn't. Elaine Page originated it when she was the very first Grizabella in Cats from 1981-1982 in the West End. This is a cover.
@@BlazeIgnitus she is originated it on stage for the musical..but it's this version that has made the song a worldwide HIT...we ear why!
Ever wonder why few women attempt to sing songs Barbra Streisand performs? Because they can't. Barbra is a rare talent.
Many decades ago, I first heard Betty Buckley and Elaine Page sing this song. My immediate thought: I've got to hear Streisand sing this. It would take another decade or so before I would finally discover this recording. The wait was worth it.
Непревзойденное гениальное исполнение шедевра! Браво,Барбара!!!!❤️

That voice. Amazing.
I'd almost forgotten what a spectacular talent this woman was ... is.
Her Tone/passion and colour of Voice is pretty much Unmatched up to this day
Try listening to Heather Headly's version.
Is she the original singer ?

This was my sister's favourite song befoe died at a young age in tragic circumstances. I love the song but cant help getting upset listening to it. Thankyou Barbara x
I fear that I only too well understand what your sister must have been going through. A memory is like a double edged sword, bringing safety and comfort at times, yet at other juntures in time complete destruction.
This is the only song I've ever heard that brought a tear to my eye.

Still the best version of this song! Her voice is so pure.

The old days were beautiful. And full of people with personality and character and products that were crafted by hand, full of heart and soul.
@Layton T. Montgomery im sure African Americans and other people of color had fun too. Not as much as white people yes. But blues hip hop and other beautiful thing came form them as well and its quite enjoyable to listen and appreciate even years later.
So great.
