Casablanca Revisited 1979 Frank Sinatra Sings As Time Goes By to Ingrid Bergman

- This is from 1979 Ingrid Bergman: An All-Star Salute Keywords: Paul Henreid, Teddy Wilson on piano, Frank Sinatra, Leonid Kinskey and for a hot second at the end Cary Grant
Thank you all for the wonderful, and many times poignant, comments. Most of these Monty Hall Variety Club tribute shows only ran once and then disappeared. I wonder what happened to them? IMDB lists this as one hour long and with several other stars see www.imdb.com/t...
What a lovely moment in time. Such class, grace, and elegance. Sadly, that doesn't exist anymore.
"It does exist", you just have to know where to look ! it's been preserved for us in great motion pictures from a different era when the actors/actress's & characters that they portrayed, we love still & always will exist. Two of my top favorites; female actress's is Maureen O'hara & my top male actor is, of course, John Wayne (Marion Morrison) either with them together or apart, "She Wore A Yellow Ribbon" & "Miracle on 34th Street" ! There are many other films.......
Ingrid must have loved this
All we get in the new millennium are hooligans, salacious behaviour, bad manners and hip hop. They call that music and art.

Nonsense 😅
How true. 👍
I'm 85 too and nobody will come close to all our past stars. A not to be forgotten era!
I'm 48 and grew up watching these stars on the screen. Just love this ❤
Ms. Bergman seemed genuinely thrilled to see Frank and entranced by his rendition of As Time Goes By. But it seems to me that Frank was enjoying the experience just as much as Ingrid.
I just can't see today's "artists" aging gracefully and doing an elegant classy tribute of any sort. Time has gone by...
One legend - Ms. Bergman - was quite notably touched by the tribute of several admiring legends, to include Frank Sinatra and Cary Grant. This kind of class is history today.
Oh, I dunno, vet. I think Meryl Streep is pretty classy. Nicole Kidman for another. But I sure loved this.
We don't have this class, charisma, legend, talent, glamour anymore in the movies, music.
They were just real good at hiding it as best they could, both of them.
And that's why I never go to the movies .
So true.
@@libertyvilleguy2903 same applies to the music industry. It's a bunch of shyt.
Or anywhere else
Seeing this for the first time and it's brought tears to my eyes 🥺 how precious
They don't make stars like this anymore they're timeless
You are right
Today’s stars exist but are basically unknown.
@@Mandrake591 Sinatra As Time goes by
Unfortunately this is the very truth.
Exactelly
Time has gone by. The 3 stars have all left us. Time is so precious, don’t take it for granted.
But...must admit they all left us with
wonderful memories, and treasures of film per-
formances.!! They shall be retained within our hearts FOREVER!within
Time doesn't go by. We do. It's the same optical illusion, as sunrise and sunset.👍
@@makeit-takeit6707 Think the saying: "Time Goes By"
is true as it relates
to the TV show honoring Ms. Bergman ,
several years ago.
We all realize we age,
however, my interpretation is not
regarding myself but
more that TIME HAS PASSED, since the loss
of these great performers.
Saudade
@@gailcolthart2211 I was speaking philosophically. Using sunrise and sunset as an analogy, since we know the sun is not actually moving, the planet is just spinning. Same with our senses telling us time is passing, when in actuality, time is a constant state and we are moving through it.
Ingrid Bergman was chocked up with emotion as Sinatra sang that song. I got chocked up watching her. A great moment in time.
How beautiful! She gave him such a great hug! Such grace and elegance! His voice! Days gone by! We're lucky to have been there!
⁰
ingrid Bergman was done of the greatest actresses of all time. I dont believe she ever got the accolades she deserved. She. was incredibly beautiful. Of course Sinatra was magnificent. Cary , another great. RIP all of you. Thanks for the memories.
Those were the days when stars really were stars. Very moving and nostalgic ❤
An absolutely beautiful tribute to Casablanca, to the great Ingrid Bergman, to the legacy of forever music and movies. Thank you to the wonderful Frank Sinatra. Cary Grant only made it more passionate a moment.
That were the times.....!!! Ingrid Bergman, Frank Sinatra and Cary Grant. That was a time you don't see it anymore..... Great that we can still see the class, elegance from the the Classic Hollywood time. My most favorite couple is and stay Ingrid Bergman and Cary Grant. There charisma together was and still is very beautiful to see. Two very beautiful people out and inside, two very beautiful souls. Such a great friendship between Cary and Ingrid from when they began filming Notorious (1946) on 22 october 1945 till Ingrid went to heaven in 1982.
When they were young and when they became older, they were one of a kind.....!!! Yes, very beautiful for me......!!! 💖😊👍🏻💖
Thank you for this post. It made my 85 year old heart sing. It triggered such wonderful memories of a time we will never have again. Again, Thank you!!
And my 80 year old heart, along with tears in my eyes.
@@carolmeagher4134 Carol, I lost my Mum of 83 yo. An age of grace and humility we will never see again. A long and happy life to you Sweetheart. Best wishes from Liverpool UK 🙏💞🍀.
As a very sentimental 15(soon to be 16) year old, I must wish to everyone involved in this comment to have a wonderful day and for god to bless them all.
❤ be feel great...... You have a golden memories of those...
Love you all live on in power
Historical… The best times that will never come again. We were lucky to catch the end part of the best.
Our society has gone so far downhill. Frank was pure class.
That whole generation had class
for sure. and so was Cary and Ingrid!
He had so much class. Beating up women, using Marilyn like a hoe for his own benefit, asking the mob to get him out of contracts. So much class 😂
He was a wife beating mobster
Frank's generation pushed society downhill, sold us out to the mob, let 'em poison us all, let 'em destroy the unions , let 'em ship our whole industrial base to china, let 'em wage the 'drug war' against our freedom that imprisoned millions of us, and killed a million more, let 'em feed us sugar candy for breakfast and call it cereal, let 'em sabotage our schools so nobody's "smarter than a fifth grader" ... Did i mention heroin? Like i said, we didn't 'go' down hill, frank's friends pushed us.
Wow, what a tribute! Ingrid was on the verge of tears as Frank sang.
Who wasn't....a level of class and elegance that's just not out there anymore
The look on her face when Frank walked in is amazing - what a lovely experience. ❤
So glad I lived during such a time--a time when grace, romance and talent were so recognized and valued.
What wonderful nostalgia for anyone who has seen and loved Casablanca, and was enraptured by Bergman's expressions of lost love and longing while Dooley was singing As time Goes By to her. Seeing her expression so many years later, recalling the same moment now immortalized in film enriches all our deep memories. Thanks for presenting this video.
The citation of Bogart by Sinatra in front of Miss Ingrid is the perfect summation of an incredible Hollywood moment!🤔🎤💃🌹B.W.
My heart lost a beat and then anotherand then another... To hear Sinstra seranade Ingrid Bergman in a genuin moment of surprise and delight.
What a treat !!! Thank you.
BIDIUK !
(exactly)
Except they both look a bit awful
BIG smile and tears in my eyes! What a lovely moment for Ms. Bergman.
Me too
Me to
Me too. And she was visibly moved.
and what a lovely moment for Frank and Cary...
When greatness meets greatness. Here is it all. A great song, a great movie, a great actress and the greatest singer of them all.
Wow, what a beautiful moment to travel back memory lane with such charming evergreens.
Oh my God what a moments loved every minute of it she was one of the greats and so was Cary Grant and I'm absolutely crazy about Frank Sinatra thank you for this
Wow, wow, and wow. What a precious moment when these superstars got together.
My exact (initial) thoughts into words.

💕
Dreamers love songs of understanding.
Thank you......super
Nancy, don't forget Teddy Wilson. He was one of the GREATS also.
Yes, what a romantic era… and the music ✨
Not sure we have stars creating magic moments like this anymore
We don't.
We don’t have stars anymore. We have ghetto rats spitting their filth in our faces instead.
No we don't
Ian, I'm very sure that...we don't.
I'm very sure we don't as well.
Thank you Frank for that beautiful song. Ingrid Bergman is as lovely as ever. It seems she never grows old. We will be missing both of you as time goes by.
A great and unforgettable singer,with a remembrance of a great movie,with a great actress,thank you ❤️
Now, that's a classic moment!! Three of our greatest entertainers together on stage....just wonderful!! Love you all and thank you for all of the years of awesome entertainment!!
Such magic. I'm still trembling. When Hollywood truly was Golden.
It's from the 1979 Variety Clubs Salute to Ingrid Bergman. It was telecast on CBS. It's a shame no one seems to have the complete show which also included Helen Hayes, Joseph Cotten, and a host of others paying tribute to Ingrid.
Never cared much for Joseph cotton . He made so many movies tho...
I love the picture and the music my favorite
Che donna;;;al di la' del attrice!
geez great memory
Just remember ....a kiss is still just a 😘😘😘😘.
What a sublime moment. Ingrid Bergman and Cary Grant starred together in the lovely romance, Indiscreet. There will never be another Frank Sinatra.
Humphrey Bogart
Cary Grant and Ingrid Bergman also starred together in Alfred Hitchcock’s Notorious.
@@lynnerask4569 It was Cary Grant in Indiscreet with Ingrid Bergman, not Humphrey Bogart.
As time goes by is from Casablanca
@@lynnerask4569 I think we all know that.
That was indeed a very special moment in time. Frank Sinatra and a reusion for Irngrid Bergman and Cary Grant. Wonderful. What could be better than Sinatra singing As Time Goes By?
As a child, my first impression of Ingrid Bergman was in the movie " Inn of the Sixth Happiness".
She acted with subtlety and grace in all of her movies.
What a charmer!
So memorable and nostalgic. A classic actress, an iconic singer and a romantic song from a great film.
What a neat performance! I even got teary-eyed watching this.
How cool was THAT?!! What a nice moment, and I was impressed with the Chairman here too. TV isn't very forgiving if you're not right on it, and he didn't need anything but a piano and a mic.
Beautiful rendition by Sinatra. So magical the way he could bring meaning and sentiment to a song.
Lovely Cary Grant at the end. He is 75 here and still the personification of style and elegance. What an era that was.
Sinatra had no voice.
He was only 64 here and you can hear a lot of voice cracking.
@@kevinwilson3609 I saw him on stage at a club in Cincinnati when he was in his 80s. He couldn’t do anything really challenging any more, but then he didn’t need to. He was a flawed giant but still great.
@@stantheman9072 Sometimes they need to respect the expiry date of their talent. Tony Bennet has been singing at least 10 years after he should have stopped, for example.
@@kevinwilson3609 Yeah, but very few people work that way. Extraordinary talent usually comes with extraordinary ego. In Sinatra’s case, from what I saw and heard, he was still worth the price of the ticket. I wasn’t cheated.
Frank Sinatra is always classic.
Frank Sinatra is in a class by himself. I love listening to him singing. I can't say which is my favorite song because they all are. Thank you Frank for entertaining millions of people over the decades. What wonderful times they were. We will never have them again
Priceless! Ingrid Bergman still lovely at this age. Time goes by indeed and now just a memory
I simply adored her. I read her autobiography in 1982 soon after she passed,
Whatever it was from, thanks for sharing such a remarkable moment with such a remarkable tiro. "As time goes by"..... they're all gone now and irreplaceable.
She looks lovely.Cary Grant!! And Frank Sinatra. End of an Era was near.
the best singer and Ingrid...thank you!
This is when Hollywood and entertainers had class. How I miss those days. Thank you so much for letting us visit a better time.
Today the so called superstars don't know what the word "class" means.
@@pjeng1 Sad but true.
Its very different from todays entertainment.
Pure class . . We miss it these days . .
Sinatra is one of my all time favourites. He never failed to make any song sound great. 👍
A simply great Hollywood moment! She was 64 for this honor and sadly died three years later. Ingrid Bergman was just 27 years old in 1942 when 'Casablanca' was filmed with Humphrey Bogart.
Mr.Sinatra...Thank you for beautifying the world with your voice..and what a VOICE!🙌🙏
When Hollywood had nothing but class and respect. Days long gone!
What an unexpected, lovely and touching UA-cam to start my day with. Her reactions are so spontaneous and genuine.
@Hello there, how are you doing this blessed day?
He still has it. Even in old age. And Ingrid is still gorgeous.
Awesome, thank you for sharing this moment between two Hollywood legends. Back in the day when Hollywood still had class, style, and real talent......... unlike today.
To my fellow septuagenarians .. we lived through interesting times ..may we have a decade more . Wonderful video - Cheers all .!
You can have tv with a million channels but you will never get quality viewing like this. You can see in Ingrid eyes and Sinatras the love and respect they had for one another.I could watch this over and over and never get fed up.Those were the days.
On the piano is Hall of Fame pianist Teddy Wilson from Austin, Texas. Benny Goodman's pianist of choice, he was widely imitated and recognized as the most influential piano stylist of the Swing era. Nice to see him here with Sinatra. The list of singers who worked and recorded with Wilson is a Who's Who of the greatest...Satchmo, Holiday, Ella, Lena, Sarah, Mildred Bailey, and over a dozen others..."they ALL had to go thru Teddy Wilson."
Frank only had the greats
@@debrasaunders7200 - Frank had a great one himself for about 30 years, Bill Miller.
Thank you for the info on him. As soon as he started to play I could tell he was special. What a great talent!! 👍
"Beautify is a vile phrase" Shakespeare. But I know what you mean.
Thank you for that.
For a second I thought “It won’t be the same without Sam singing it” then realized it was Frank Sinatra and everything would be just fine.
Love her movies and never tire of his singing and the golden days of old Las Vegas in the 1970s.
My fav movie of all times re created by Ilsa (Ingrid Bergman) y Sinatra....omg I love it!
What a time it was! With real stars- so lucky we have been to live in that time and so thankful to Brian to be able to live it again.
What amazing video, three legends together. The Voice of Sinatra that took my breath away, Bergman, such elegant, that got emotional listing at him and C.Grant to complete this wonderful, incredible moment. I wish could watch all this program.
This touched my heart. Beautiful memories for a lifetime.
Magical, magnificent, Thank you for sharing this memorable time in history. I just love it.
I love her so much! She was pure magic!
Loved the last moment when Cary Grant appeared and took charge of Bergman and added his inimitable class.
Emotionally Fabulous of a wonderful time of great movies and Stars
So nice! I once dueted on the piano with Teddy Wilson here. And Paul Henried is here, too! Lovely!
Why have I never seen this before? Thanks for putting this out into the universe for Casablanca fans everywhere!
I’m grinning with nostalgic feeling while viewing this video , oh my God , it brings back old memories of the 50s , saw this movie CASABLANCA in 1956 with my boy friend who became the father of my 4 kids 😊❤️ whenever we do Singalong i never missed singing the song “ As Time Goes By “
One of the reasons I value UA-cam. What a moment! My own favourtie Bergman movie has to be "For
Whom The Bell Tolls". Her luminous beauty shines through every scene in which she appears.
Great artists, singers and actors that are SO great, will NEVER die!!!!
I absolutely loved this! Thank you for bringing a huge smile to my face and a warmth to my heart. Frank, Ingrid and Cary. Oh, my!💜
Lovely to see these 3 legends together.🥰
Tre personaggi Grandi!!!
Pure class! Times of real ladies and gentlemen. Beautiful Ingrid Bergman, so sophisticated and kind, a real star.
Beautiful Ingrid, my role model
They have all passed over; but what amazing moments they have left behind…
Thank you for this. Crying and smiling ...As a 66 yrs old from Brooklyn , I think of watching Casablanca and Sinatra and Ingrid Bergman movies me on the floor with my amazing incredible Grandparents . Such great great artists Thank you. Take care all.
What a pleasure to read all these comments that got me to remembering that era. I feel blessed to have been a part of that time.

A great, timeless song...and she helped make it so...
Three giants of class, beauty, charm and talent. Wonderful
Loved the piano player and Ingrid being a good sport.
Also love the movie, 'Casa Blanca'
Those days are considered the Golden Age of Hollywood where stars are really stars!! But memories will stay to be treasured FOREVER!!!
