This wonderful woman has left a legacy of great songs and movies...there is no one to compare, in my book. She inspired so many while she lived. Every chance I get, I listen or watch her many movies....😂❤😅
Takes me back 50 years OMG I’m 61 now, and I remember watching this with my family on a Sunday afternoon, I was mesmerized by Doris, and she still has me captivated now! Such an honest face, I bet she had a beautiful heart as well! No one will we ever witness movies or stars like this ever again 😞
This beautiful, classic, Academy Award winning truly belongs only to Doris Day from the 1953 classic movie Calamity Jane! I own this movie on videotape, Laser Disc, DVD and Blue Ray. I was born in 1978. Thank you for posting and sharing this movie magic! I love it!
A wonderful singer and actress, that became a star but kept her charm and grace. She did not become so full of herself, like many do today, thinking that are so important and put themselves high on a pedestal. Doris Day was humble and sincere. She was beautiful inside as well as outside. And her love of animals was displayed throughout her life. A truly great lady!
When I was still just ten years of age in 1953 in Adelaide SA,..I saw Calamity Jane at the local Saturday afternoon matinee picture theatre and was so mesmerised by Doris Day and that film, that I chased iacross every Adelaide Saturday afternoon matinee that had it showing, just to see it again and again and again. By the time I had watched it for about the 20th time, I knew the entire script by heart,...and I had barely turned 11 years old. In the years that followed when it would turn up very occasionally at some picture (movie) theatre,...off I would go to see it yet again. Over the decades that followed in to VHS video tapes and DVD's,..I quickly added these new formats to my collection where 'Calamity Jane' took pride of place where now, in 2021 and me now at 79 years of age, I still rate Calamity Jane as my most loved and revered film of all time, having now watched it no less than 150 times since 1953 and me as then a young ten year old kid,...............and I STILL know practically the entire script by heart.😀
Literally one of my favorite movies of all time and favorite singers .i love all these old musicals. What a way to lift your spirits by watching these old movies. She had such a beautiful voice!!!!
I think of my late father whenever I watch Calamity Jane. He loved westerns and adored Doris Day. She was his girlfriend. Whenever the film was on tv dad would watch it. He loved it. I've grown to love it too. Doris Day is just great and perfect for the role.
I have all 39 movies that Doris Day ever made, and this one is my favourite. I loved this movie, my children loved this movie and I hope one day that my grandchildren will love it too.🦘🌹
I LOVE DORIS DAY and her superb and crystal clear voice. And this is one of my all time greatest movies. *I could NEVER understand why they didn't cut down the overhanging branch of the tree that very nearly takes Doris clean off her 🐎 horse.
I've admired this Lady, Singer, Actress since I was a young boy of Eight. I saw Calamity Jane at the movies and has been a favorite of mine ever since.

From Wikipedia: "the daughter of German-American parents Alma Sophia (née Welz; 1895-1976) and William Joseph Kappelhoff (1892-1967). She was named after actress Doris Kenyon. … Her paternal grandfather Franz Joseph Wilhelm Kappelhoff immigrated to the United States in 1875 and settled within the large German community in Cincinnati." So yes, one would expect her to look German (and I agree; very lovely she is).
