I just got around to watching this whole video and it was so awesome. I'm happy that you're happy with your brush coffin! I can't imagine thinking you ordered a 32mm only to get a 75mm! That's a big difference when it comes to the painting experience, but you got through it amazingly! All that without mentioning how great of an edit this is. Honestly, this is such a blessing to have someone's creative passion put on something you had a hand in making.
Hey Scott, that means so much thanks man!! It was such a blast to work on and after I opened it I did remember oh yeah I wanted to push my self outta my comfort zone, but I had totally forgotten! Hope you’re doing well 🤙🏼
PEAAAAACCCCEEEE! Hell yeah baby! I finally got around to painting my Epic Encounters minis from SFG, first time painting large models and they are so well sculpted! I love the backdrop you set the mini in!
Wow I always pass by the epic encounters boxes at my LGS but have never actually checked them out. They are SICK! I might have to grab some! Also thanks! I enjoy setting the scene as much as painting the mini!
TRUTH!! I got a commission to do a 75mm Fallout NCR Ranger model from NorthStar Miniatures for a frequent client. I had never done a 75mm before, only scale models and wargaming minis up to that point. It totally pushed my comfort zone, but it ended up turning out amazing!
This was a fun watch! Liked where you ended up a lot and I appreciated that you took the time to show getting feedback and implimenting it, not something I've seen in other painting vids. I think the only large scale models I've done have been a quartet of elementals for a D&D game. All one texture, water, fire, earth, etc. It was fun!
Thank you!! And yes I think it’s important for people to realize it’s normal to ask for feedback, after starting at the same blend for hours it’s good to get some fresh eyes on everything! I’m glad you enjoyed it! Elementals sound fun! I have some giant d and d minis that I might apply some of what I learned here too!
Wonderful vid mate, loved the content, the genuine fearful reaction to "oh shit, this things 75mm?!" and the wrap up. Looking forward to the next vid :) Also, as ive mentioned over on the discord id love to get my hands on the Duchess. Really amazing sculpt, and just the right amount of inspiring vs intimidating ;)
I think that the solution to the issue of "ugly stage" is people doing parts to completion; it works for some and not for the others, but it is definitely worth trying out for bigger projects. As for the bigger figures, setting aside great 3D printed artists (e.g. Nerikson), I really like 75mm models from BigChildCreative, especially their newer ones, as they simplified building process significantly
That’s a great point! Fighting through the ugly phase is kind of where my channel name came from, but there are definitely many different strategies to get through it! I think the number one way is to just embrace it and understand that it is part of the process. And wow those minis are fun! I love the orc pirate guys! So expressive and lots of room for sweet blends 🤙🏼
I have been in love with their Octavius Bust forever. One of my favorite painters, BenXLayton did an incredible job on it a few years ago. instagram.com/p/Cn2-hUESBL1/?igsh=OHczaHpnZXBsMGc3
@ThisMiniSucks that is a lovely figure. I've been considering buying either Eldarion, Odin or one of the Gnome figures for a while. I am put off by the scale though, plus GW keep releasing new things. Plus Crisis Protocol... Plus Shatterpoint... Plus Legion...
@yansmac4796 I feel you! Still, it’s fun to break up the army painting with a display piece like this. But now that I’m done the witch, I have about 50 skeletons with my name on them for my old world army to paint 😅😅😅

looking good man, I've got a couple of 75mm sculpts i bought ages ago and feel intimidated by. Maybe I'll have a go at them soon.
I think you’ll find that just putting paint on the model will quickly take that fear away. I say go for it!!

Yes! The duchess looks sick, such an awesome expression on her face. I say go for it!!

Black Crow Miniatures do amazing larger scale models. 😊
