This is just the start of another new series on my channel. There seem to be so many new series coming. Anyways, here’s a comparison of 3 of Metallica’s bassists on For Whom The Bell Tolls live performances. Yes Ron McGovney was Metallica’s original bassist but he stayed for a very short period and was never involved in Metallica’s songs. Anyways, hope you enjoyed!
Thanks for the all the views and subs and making this my new most viewed and liked video! Let’s rock on!🤘🤘

When you are a SLAYER fan, Metallica Seems to be So BORING & SLOW
Anupam THE BOSS .... disagree with ya bud, go mosh at a Metallica concert and say it’s slow.
I think if the bus accident never happened and Cliff never died I really don’t know if Metallica would still be around. Just my .02 but here goes. Cliff had a huge influence on the sound we all know this. When the time came for 90\91 black album & working with bob rock... I think Cliff would of said Fock off and not do it. James would of probably followed & Lars n Kirk. The old stuff.... we all love it with out a doubt but the 90s were weird. Pantera’s sound was soaring but I’m not convinced Metallica could have continued like that.. the evolution of sound with Metallica is what it is because it adapted to the time, producers & bassist’s. Regardless of that cliff is my favorite bassist of all time hands down. And to the dude about slayer being faster... listen to creeping death or seek & destroy

I saw Cliff play in 86 when Metallica opened for Ozzy.
It was freaking awesome!
RIP Cliff!😢
Master of Puppets/Ultimate Sin Tour. Long Beach Ca. 86 was my first concert. 11 yrs old.
I saw Cliff play on their Ride the Lightning tour. The opening acts were Armored Saint, who just came out with their March of the Saint album, and a band who just had their debut album out called WASP. Id say there were only 200-300 people at the show. There were no big fancy light shows, stage props, or even a big stage. It was just 3 of the best metal bands in the business all coming together for one of the best concerts I have ever seen to date. I'm glad I got to see Metallica before their turned into a radio metal band.
if only you knew much much I envy you

Oh, the irony
Agreed. He should have replaced James at lead vocals. His solo work is awesome.
And also the best drummer!😂
Jason was just phenomenal in the whole cunning stunts gig. The bell tolls, the solo in to live is to die, sanitarium, misery. He was just so so good. Miss that guy 🤘🏻
Cliff Burton was insane! He literally could play a bass like a lead guitar.
His bass playing is god tier.
Cliff Burton was definitely the best of all three.
Indeed he came up from bein’ a guitar player, even if fingerstyle
Conversely Jason, who also plays some guitar on his own, always been a bass player, startin’ fingerstyle (same was on doomsday for the deceiver, where he almost mimicked steve harris) then switchin’ to picks tipswise
Rob is a fullyfledged bass player
@@HectorRivera-kh9no LOL Jason and Rob look like it hurt them to play it. Cliff looked like it was a breeze. I wonder if it's really difficult to play.

That's probably the best way to put it
Robert was definitely funky when he was playing with Suicidal Tendencies and Infectious Grooves
You can feel the funkiness in his solos
I've seen them 30 times, Cliff was a god at playing bass, he created those songs and paved the way for the rest. His influence is all over Justice. Jason came in at the right time to lift the band and make them what they are today, his singing of Whiplash and Creeping death are legendary and he made them rockstars. The timing just wasn't good on the human side for him, the first boyfriend after a divorce or a sudden loss rarely lasts long. Rob came in when the band was ready to welcome someone else and let him play his style. He cemented the band and greatly helped them become the megastars that they are today. All 3 are geniuses of the instrument with their own style and personna. Metallica wouldn't be Metallica today without those 3. They were blessed to have the right bass player at the right time, all the time. If one of the 3 had fail, the band would have imploded.
In my opinion and many others Cliff is the best metal bassist of all time.
and jason newsted was the best looking one
I can't believe how awesome Burton was. He played like he was lead guitarist.
Absolutely insane, guitarists would've feared playing with him.
I know right!
he was a beast, but his earlier versions of that bass solo when he was in his previous band wasnt as polished. i think he had a decent amount of time to perfect it and then throw some twists in with it at every show. i often wonder if he could of kept making great hits like that or if he was one of those people who got lucky early and then never would of did anything good again after.
@@randomrecipes5007
Not necessarily...
A6 string guitar is much easier to play licks on
String size is huge on a bass in comparison
and the distance between the frets, just makes more of a stretch
difficult for your fingers to reach.

It's out front being the lead in a few songs

I grew up with Jason's Metallica so I'm biased towards him (besides, his stage presence and being able to take the frontman seat was a plus in his favor), but can recognize the creationist force behind Cliff.
While I don't dismiss Trujillo's talent, the thing made me not able to connect with him is that he became part of Metallica when they already lost me as a die hard fan. I checked their new albums, and always end up returning to their older stuff.
