    Gotta give a like for Tomer mentioning Cardmarket. Those crossovers between Cardmarket and MTGGoldfish are some of the funniest MTG videos I have seen. Seth playing Shandalar was hilarious and Tomer and Phil vibed really well with the Cardmarket Crew. Same with Crim when he visited the last time.
    Keep up the good work you all.

    And thus marks the shift of Fog Meta to MLD Meta. Many historians credit the Codfather Richard towards this trend in popularity since his playgroup started complaining about "long" games, but alas that is still up for speculation.

      I honestly wish wizards would print more land destruction.
      Lands are powerful with a huge variety. They need either just get rid of mana or start making cards that deal with it.
      If it was about not allowing people to play magic then why do they print a board wipe and counter spell every set?

      @@brettjohnson4321because counters and board wipes dont reset the games as much as ld does. They either only say no to one spell or to one type of permanent normally. And its way easier to recover from both thats just a bad comparison

    I have always been interested in an anti-theme deck, kind of like Richard's Green spellmage control deck. Artifact Creatures where there is no supporting non-creature artifacts and no non-artifact creatures. Aura's but only non-creature enchanting auras. Lifegain, but with no creatures. Go wide blue, etc. Taking an archetype and stripping away what makes it broken.

    That was a great, seeing everyone playing mass LD. I was surprised to see Ruination on Crim's 3-color deck, I would expect the 2-color ones that could play more basics to do it. There is another possible card to use with a high number of basics win From the ashes. Too bad there was no blue mana to play sunder or acid rain with Yavimaya in this episode. Honest question: @1:08:30 Is there a reason why Seth keeps choosing to make one of his trolls unblockable and not his Commander? • @WarpsmithAdam
      @WarpsmithAdam Рік тому +2

      My original EDH playgroup had a couple of decks kicking around playing Cataclysm & some MLD. I was a little confused at first because I'd seen the online discourse about MLD being toxic, but it rarely seemed like an issue. In actual play, it was just another wincon. I think part of it was that we were mostly primarily Modern players & so we didn't have some of the same hyper-casual hangups that people online often have. We were expecting people to actually try to win the game, and to play the disruption to prevent other people in the pod from winning.

    • @T_Peazy
      @T_Peazy Рік тому +2

      @WarpsmithAdam I think the problem with MLD in commander is mostly that the optimal way to play it is to punish the player who got really far ahead. But it often just ends up really hurting the people who may have fallen a bit behind. Like if it's turn 6 and one player has ramped out into like 10 lands, and you're in second place with like 8 lands and you Armageddon well anyone who has been missing land drops probably has a worse board state and now has no mana to catch up (it's even worse if you cataclysm). So the game for them seems like a slog fest where they don't get to play magic.

    • @WarpsmithAdam
      @WarpsmithAdam Рік тому +1

      @@T_Peazy oh yeah, absolutely can it lead to miserable games, but usually in a situation like that, the game was slowed down by a few turns, but those turns went faster, so it evened out. If it was clear that someone was so far ahead that no one else really stood a chance, it is fine to just rewrack. If it was every game, it would have been a problem, but it wasn't. It was a couple of times a month kind of thing.

    • @donb7519
      @donb7519 Рік тому +2

      @WarpsmithAdam the real issue people have with mld and stax is 2 fold. Part 1 is simply a lot of people who play it have no real wincon besides make people scoop which sucks and part 2 is just like having too many boardwipes it makes games go way longer than most people want

  • @MenaceLendil

    I think tomers deck was an interesting, just not really fitting the pod because of the high mana curve but the idea of "leave just enchantments" is pretty cool. If the other decks weren't all MLD it would probly be able to do that gameplan.

    creatures can't be equipped to other creatures. My friend used to play a sydri deck, and one of his favorite plays was turning people's swiftfoot boots or lightning greaves into creatures so they would fall off. Reconfigure sorta changed how those specific equipment work (they lose the creature type when they are reconfigured) but I think you could still make the same play Karn play with those.

  • @ajaxender12
    @ajaxender12 Рік тому +1

    Partly it's that you guys are good players and can think beyond your game plan getting disrupted, instead of just not wanting to play any more. And partly, yeah, it's that you're all doing it by agreement and you've built decks to both do the salty things, and try to mitigate it to some degree.
    But, interaction in all it's forms explicitly exists to un-clog board states; either giving someone a distinct advantage, or allowing someone to hang on long enough to build their own distinct advantage. It tends towards decision making, particularly in Commander where there's three times as many threat sources, and that's more interesting.

  • @piralos1329

    Honestly this has kinda sold me on MLD ultimately being a force for good in commander? So long as you play it with a plan!! That said, I think arguably the best MLD commander is Will, Scion of Peace - He provides a HUGE discount on all of your spells, depending on how much life you've gained! All you gotta do is establish a few cheap lifelink creatures, get Will out, and start dropping stuff like Baneslayer Angels, or Lyra! And you can even do it on the same turn you Armageddon, because geddon is 1 mana!!! Nothing quite like blowing up all the lands whilst you have a 2 mana Hullbreacher in play >:)

Probably Decree of Annihilation and Impending Disaster are the weakest. Anything over like 5MV really needs to justify being there since post-MLD you won't have that much mana, so maybe more cuts on the top end.

      It exiles itself because it's already in the graveyard when the ability resolves. This would work with Cradle of the Accursed tho.

      @trollmore oh that is correct, for some reason I was thinking this was a single target card.

    My Richard is correct - giving a trample creature unblockable is less effective - but the DesertWalk - awesome!

    So far the fiverr episode and this Mass LD have been the ones with games not lasting forever. If this isn't proof that you guys normally run too many board wipes, I don't know what is!

    @goldfishcrew it makes me sad that you don't appriciate the "clash on" phrase. It's part of the the Brand at this point and i think it would strengthen it even more if you would embrace it instead of being kinda ashamed by it.

    I enjoy these wacky themes but also like seeing normal games. There wre so many legendaries and so many sets being pumped out im sure your guys have missed playing with a bunch of cool ones. As cool as MLD week is, im never going to build one of these to play against my pod so I'd rather see something I might actually build instead of meme decks.

    We need more of these episodes where there isn't an "ethical" ban list. I wanna see people just playing to win, but in a casual setting

    @saffronolive it doesn't matter with the terravore, even if the damage happened first SBE's wouldn't be checked until the lands were destroyed so the terravore would be huge

    I feel like Crim needs to embrace the Pillowfort meta or risk getting taken out early every game in this pod.

    maybe you should make like a minimum requirement in deck so amount of cards that fit the theme.

    I have no issue with mass land destruction because it’s the only balance to all the land ramp decks out there. Every archetype has another archetype that is it’s balance. But because everyone hates land destruction that makes land ramp decks overpowered and way too common.

    This game kinda went exactly how I imagined it would when we normalize mld which is the ramp deck isn’t hurt they just put out a bunch of stuff and then wipe the lands to leave everyone in the dust. Hot take mld makes green better
