I have always thought of Battlecruiser as control decks that play OP high cost cards as win cons and simply deny play with counterspells and board wipes until they can get to those broken balance cards.
My brother has an Aesi deck, and every time he gets Tatyova early he ends up forgetting her ability isn't a may and mills himself to death. Also, note to self: put homeward path in any deck that might go against Phil.
Seth not playing Omniscience is kinda disappointing. Also I feel like Crim focused too much on having the Serra's Emissary effect on his board. I enjoyed this as an episode, but I can't stand playing games like this. I much prefer the Crim / Richard wrath meta to the Phil draw engine value meta. If you get behind in a meta like this, you really can't keep up because the players that have their engines going out-draw and out-play you every turn cycle, so it becomes too luck-based. Wraths add so much to the game, specifically it makes the early turn choices matter more, since being to explosive can get you punished if you can't close it out, and it gives slower engines time to impact the game in a meaningful way.
Phil didn't build a battlecruiser deck. It was more of a deck which exploits battlecruiser decks, taking advantage of the knowledge other players will be playing big splashy creatures.
