this deck is probably healthy for the format, its good when people are greedy and bad when they aren't. kind of like modern dredge and graveyard hate. even though it can feel oppressive, the way it influences deckbuilding actually decreases degeneracy overall.
Ya know, the genius of this is its actually not even toxic land hate - the cards give the opponent a chance to just go trade for a basic but they literally CAN'T so really its their own fault lol. Hilarious to watch.
Blood moon ain't toxic the opponent had a chance to play basics and they CAN'T. Ensnaring bridge gave the opponents the chance to play non creature spells Wasteland gave the opponent a chance to keep a 3 lander Ect ect.
I still cant get over the fact that the rakdos deck only had TWO basics... I run a 5 color mazes end spelunking gates deck in both paper and arena and even that list has 3 basics

My main competitive deck way back in the day was 4x Sinkhole, Strip Mine, Stone Rain, Ice Storm, Pillage, Thermokarst... Along with Nev's Disk, Nether Void, Bolts, Shatter, etc. to quickly clean off anything you might actually get to play. Such a fun time in Magic 😂
I made an Izzet LD deck back in the day that used Cleansing Wildfire with a bunch of Copy effects so that I could blow up a ton of lands at once. The thing that made it work though, was that I would get a Confounding Conundrum on the field first, which states that "Whenever a land enters the battlefield under an opponent's control, if that player had another land enter the battlefield under their control this turn, they return a land they control to its owner's hand." So sure, they'd get to dig some basics out of their deck whenever I blew one up, but after the first one, they had to put it back in their hand.

Yeah, after recording this I tried to build a Case + Vehicle deck and pretty quickly learned it doesn't work how I wanted, it just turns the Vehicle into a 4/4, which still isn't bad, but not nearly as exciting as I was thinking.

"We need a way to beat mono colored.". It's already in the deck. Deadly cover up can exile any card, including basics. Add a few Smashing Success to the sideboard because it can hit basics and it's an instant, so on a good day you can have Chandra out, hit two lands with Wildfire on your turn and two more with Success on the opponent's turn.
59:53 Transformational sideboard plan, turning all your jank land destruction into midrange threats? The shell of it is kinda already there, but maybe we give up on the silver bullets in favor of just solid cards to become a pseudo-Rakdos games 2 and 3 against mono-color strategies? You only really need an 8-card package to do it, swapping out the Cleansing Wildfire and Dire-Strain Rampage for like Sheoldred and Graveyard Trespasser and Fable of the Mirror Breaker, since the Assassin's Trophy is still solid removal and the Deadly Cover-Up still functions as a wrath.
I think Crumble To Dust really should be in the sideboard for matchups like the Ensoul Artifact deck. It lets you exile a land, remove all copies of it, and get hand/deck information from it. It's 4 mana, but I think the 1 mana increase is worth it in situations like that. Or if they are able to give a permanent protection from a color, the devoid on it allows you to go around it.
Drafted deadly cover up and noticed the lack of basic land in the exile. Thought to hit you up Seth for LD. Had to chastise myself, because you don't need that, you know the line. So more or less I've been waiting to see how you brew it!

I dont know how settled and standardized pioneer meta decks are, but deadly cover up is also great because it gives you your opponents entire decklist minus sideboard in best of 3.
Neat deck! I'm a UBW esper player and I always ran 3 basics specifically because of fetches like this. (one of each color so I could pick any of them if I needed a specific one). I'd like to think that'd buy me enough time before I ran out of basics to at least get to a turn where I could stabilize with some consistent card draw and counter spells to prevent most of the future destruction effects from hitting. I could see myself losing easily though, even if I didn't draw into any of the basics. I always kept a fourth basic in my sideboard, you might be convincing me to run 3 basics in the side so I can go up to 6 total in the followup games at least :) Also, whenever my flipped Azcanta inevitably got blown up I would definitely cry

Played against a Goblin deck in explorer Bo3, I was runing rakdos sacrifice. Game 3 I had a swamp and my 2 field of ruin as lands, so I fired one off turn 3 just to get a mountain and fix my mana. To my surprise, the goblin deck, with a Black splash that I never saw used, playing almost only red, had no basics. So I started the game with 2 strip mines, fixed my mana slowly and recovered from a dead mulligan. Run basics, friends, run basics
Back in the day I played jund land destruction. But back then we had sinkhole, stone rain, ice storm, strip mine pre restriction, all the power 9, and win with juzam or channel/fireball.
Filched is definitely a word. To filch is to steal. So the case of the filched falcon is the case of the stolen falcon. Probably the coveted falcon specifically.
In explorer you can have funnier version of the locking out the opponent and this is thanks to all the exile cards sharing name effects as there are so many of them. Let them be landflooded, remove their every wincon instead while also milling them out (since you exile their library over time)
Some additions that this deck needs, Ashiok (the war of the spark one) As this can help u fight people with basics 4 Scheming Symmetry as u force them to shuffle with all the land destruction and its a 1 mana tutor. Boseiju it's another land destruction spell
Ashiok only prevents them from searching with their own effects. It doesn't stop them from searching when one of yours asks them to. Boseiju isn't super great because it lets them grab basics or nonbasics with land types
51:50 could have used the removal spell first. Opponent might not respond with boseiju and even if they do, at least you won’t fizzle when they respond to you targeting lotus field.
i was really hoping to see one of the cards on Arena that doesn't let you search your library. like Ashiok, Dream Render wouldn't let you replace your Field of Ruin with a basic, right?
I want to see Seth do this with Mythweaver Paq in Historic Brawl. Theres enough non basic land destruction with ghost quarter like effects in it. Especially so when you copy them. Add in playing lands from graveyard effects and you really punish greedy mana bases.
"Filched" is definitely a word, just not one that sees any use any more. To filch is to stealthily take, to swipe, to steal. If you read old novels, you might run across it.
Not excluding basic lands on that one card is bad card design but mono black land destruction with the anhk of Mishra dingus egg combo was so much fun way back when (or annoying if you were playing against it). Pay a life to put a land in play, pay a life every time a land gets destroyed. Throw in card destruction and racks and it was the OG lock your opponent out of playing the game.
Love your content. This deck is as hilarious and fun as the rest of what you play. This is definitely a me problem, but it drives me crazy to hear you mispronounce so many words _(Brotherhood's End, Jegantha),_ so I often don't stick around to the end of a video, but keep playing the fun stuff and I'll keep watching half a video at a time :-)

i was really hoping to see one of the cards on Arena that doesn't let you search your library. like Ashiok, Dream Render wouldn't let you replace your Field of Ruin with a basic, right?
Why not bring War of the Spark Ashiok? For 3 mana you get to just shut down searches entirely, which helps in the mono color matchup
Ashiok only locks down searches from your opponents' spells and abilities.

At 19:02 woudn't Fatal Push been better to get rid of the Bonecrusher Giants?
I want to see Seth do this with Mythweaver Paq in Historic Brawl. Theres enough non basic land destruction with ghost quarter like effects in it. Especially so when you copy them. Add in playing lands from graveyard effects and you really punish greedy mana bases.

"Filched" is definitely a word, just not one that sees any use any more. To filch is to stealthily take, to swipe, to steal. If you read old novels, you might run across it.
How does the Buzzcrusher go around the Lotus Field's hexproof?

As someone who played value town, I approve
Not excluding basic lands on that one card is bad card design but mono black land destruction with the anhk of Mishra dingus egg combo was so much fun way back when (or annoying if you were playing against it). Pay a life to put a land in play, pay a life every time a land gets destroyed. Throw in card destruction and racks and it was the OG lock your opponent out of playing the game.
Love your content. This deck is as hilarious and fun as the rest of what you play.
This is definitely a me problem, but it drives me crazy to hear you mispronounce so many words _(Brotherhood's End, Jegantha),_ so I often don't stick around to the end of a video, but keep playing the fun stuff and I'll keep watching half a video at a time :-)
