@@Likexner They are overexaggerated because real life breathing is so subtle that in game you won't even notice it, so it would be pointless for the animator to animate something you won't even realize is there.

Condition Zero's hostages added a lot of factors into the mode and almost deserve their own video. In addition to trying to sneak out, they would:
-Head back towards their original positions if aimed at after sneaking out or if the CTs rescuing them got killed
-Audibly call out and wave at CTs when spotting them, which could be beneficial to both teams
-Yell out warnings to CTs if there were terrorists in their line of sight, both when first spotting CTs and during the rescue. When you'd get to them, instead of going "over here" and waving, they'd snitch Ts out by saying something like "LOOK OUT!" and cowering instead of waving.
-Have different voice lines when contacting them if they had seen Ts recently
-(Attempt to) run from HE grenades, get blinded by flashbangs and cough in smoke grenades
-Occasionally panic near gunfights if CTs were not leading them, making them run off or cower in a corner
-Be interactable from a distance, so you could tell them to follow you or stay put from afar
-Jump and crouch, so they'd navigate maps a lot better
-Be more talkative in general. They'd try to talk down terrorists from the fight, react to round ends with lines depending on how the round's resolved, have lines if the rescue took too long, be relieved when seeing the rescue zone and such
While they'd never fit a modern, competitive CS, I thought they were one of the coolest changes to CZ.

I think you missed the opportunity to showcase hostages fron Condition Zero Deleted Scenes. Yeah, they may be just reskinned scientists from Half-Life, but you do escort them to rescue zone, just like CS hostages, so they *are* hostages. And they have a great variety, which depends on the mission, that I personally find pretty neat :)

Maybe subtle animation for being alive/turning their heads randomly would be nice... I'd say make them a proximity sensor buuut yeah shadows and what not already make it not competititve enough to some...

I wonder if they're motionless on purpose for "competitive reasons" or if it's just placeholder for the beta...
Would be (not) nice to see them move around, having itches being unable to be itched, and head twitching due to trauma, and maybe sometimes dozing off, leaning a bit more back to sleep due to many sleepless nights.
Sky's the limit (not anymore since we don't need the Skybox tool texture) with depicting how cruel the Terrorists were to these poor people, but maybe I'm looking for too much detail that it might make a few uncomfortable...
If they're trying to be hyper realistic with graphics and the setting, then you have to depict the darker parts of the implicated situations we play in.

    • @spoono
      @spoono 9 місяців тому +4

As office main Id like valve to add some poses variety to these hostages for more context based placement. Like leaning onto walls or in some uncomfortable position like if they were punished for disobedience or for sake of keeping them passive for longer. Maybe they could go all possum and pretend to die.

your way of fixing hostage game mode should be what valve should do. get the hostage, a locked area for CT should open nearby for extraction. And maybe mix in the multi spawn point system but randomized. these 2 systems could fix hostage once'n'for all

I remember how CSGO had these hostage models with the blindfold since the csgo beta. But the funny thing was, that in the beta and even in the 2012 release the hostages followed you like in the previous CS games, what was really funny. I miss, that no one talks about that time (2011-2012). I guess it was 2013 or so, were the hostages were changed to these static participants, which need to be carried. But then I felt that the achievements to rescue 100 or 500 hostages got harder just by that update. (bc before each of the 4 hostages were counted for the achievement) I have to admit, that I did not play anymore the hostage mode cs_* since this update. Not that I don't like it, but I think it made the mode harder for sure.

I‘ve heard that the Community really needs to get a even closer look at the hostages feet. Maybe how the lighting reacts to it or how the game Performance is influenced by it. A polygon count would also be nice. That’s just what i‘ve heard the Community wanted to See. I dont really Know why they want to see all this, but i guess it makes sense?
