Sandra being the only one to not buy Fairplay’s story was an omen for her success
"It's not all about chu all the tiime!
Yep. The rest of the tribe believed his "fake story."
Even though she definitely was suspicious that he lied, I like to believe she just didn't care (because Sandra) and hated his guts
Sandra was ALWAYS that way. They called her sassy, but she was just realistic.
I remember reading that the reason why Sandra was so skeptical was that Fairplay swore on his grandma before and gave her the impression that grandma was still alive, so it felt like such a sudden turn of events. Sandra's superpower is a tuned BS meter.
Man that HvV merge episode was just perfection. They could not have scripted it better.
“Are you writing you letter to Russell, buddy” colbys delivery of that line as if jt is writing to Santa and Colby is his dad lives rent free in my head
Sameee
HAHAHA oh i can't unhear that now, that's hilarious
JT's "Damn it" gives me so much life.
I also love when Colby is like "You writing your letter to Russell, buddy?" And JT has this squeaky little "yep".
@@Peridiam "You witing your wittle letter, buddy?"
I wish Steven was on "Survivor: Heros vs. Villains" or "Survivor: Game Changers" instead of JT.
@@teamsteed1 No Stephen had his chance in 2nd chance and flopped, JT is way more entertaining
Imagine the editors purple a winner in purpose and in the final episode they show us many flashbacks of this player making all the game play behind.
That would be so funny!
This is exactly why I knew Brett didn't win Samoa even when he got to F4. There's no way they would make him completely invisible for 2/3 of the game if he was the actual winner.
@@BrettMKW I agree, but the thing is that the entire cast got purpled so that it could be the Russell Hantz show 🙃
that would be so good
"It was Agatha all along!"
I’m still impressed by JT‘s beautiful Handwriting 😂
@Luc yell well
@Luc yell you can literally watch him writing with exquisite handwriting in the episode....even if she wrote the final draft that was given to Russell you can physically see jt hand writing
@@brandonobrien3239 I know it shows him writing but does it show him writing with that impeccable handwriting because I don't think it shows that I could be wrong I've only watched Heroes versus Villains once and that's because I already knew who won plus I kind of don't like Russell
@@anthonymort5202 I had a stroke reading that
The Genius editing for Parvati's double idol play was perfection
What's interesting about the edit surrounding Amanda's idol play is that we are led to believe that the only other person who knew about the idol was Parvati. In actuality, Amanda told Cirie about the idol and the plan to blindside Alexis. Cirie then still votes for Amanda so that Natalie doesn't feel betrayed after the vote and to keep her on their side instead of Erik's. Because the editors wanted to surprise us with Amanda's idol at tribal, they couldn't show us the conversation between Amanda and Cirie where Amanda reveals the idol to Cirie, or how they come up with the plan to keep Natalie on their side after the vote.
And somehow Cirie still ended up in the Heroes tribe. I just still don't get it.
@@klaraleblochova Maybe her like proper gameplay moves weren’t the most heroic, but what Cirie as a player stands for and means to so many people, as well as other aspects of her games like her motherly relationship to Aras and michaela really do ultimately make her a hero in the eyes of the fans. That being said, would’ve loved her being a villain as she would’ve gone further probably lol and more Cirie is always a good thing
I understand it wouldn't be fun to do it a lot, but i actually LOVE when the suspense hinges on the viewer not knowing if they found the idol or not
Was surprised you didn't mention the edit showing us all the votes in Micronesia when they voted out Eric. I believe that's the only time the viewers are shown the vote before Jeff reads it.
It's one of the best episodes ever in terms of storytelling
Watching this video almost two years after it was made. In season 43 they used editing tricks like this almost every episode. However my fav would definitely be when Dwight gets voted out and the cast, and audience, assumes he leaves with Jeanine’s idol. However, at the beginning of the next episode we find out he gave it Jesse! I really enjoy these tricks and find that they make otherwise “meh” seasons more exciting to watch.
Erik after JT "I have lost my title as the dumbest survivor ever!"
I think J.T's plan was genius he just chose the wrong person to trust and that person was russell. if their plan went the way they wanted parvati would have been out and they would have had russell on their side.
Giving up earned immunity that close to the end will forever be the dumbest move.
JT had a good plan, bad outcome scenario. Trusting Russell was obviously a huge risk since even if he was right about the other tribe's dynamics it's not like Russell could be trusted week to week.
If JT can't trust Russell then he's screwed anyway -- it means there's the girl alliance and Russell is actually with them so a single idol down the road isn't going to help him much.
If JT can trust Russell but opts not to give him the idol then Russell gets voted out and JT still has to deal wit the girls alliance.
Whether you want to believe that JT considered all that before making his choice is up to you of course, but it's a simple strategy consideration of risk/reward. If it played out as planned Russell, himself, and others would've been in great shape to coast to the top spots. Play to win the game. Just because a big move failed doesn't mean it was a bad move.
Nah that would be tyson, he literally had a CHANCE to get out someone from Russel's side of the alliance but NOPE he just had to jump the gun. If he'd just WAITED for a tie, he would still have been in HvV
Eirk's was still the dumbest move. There is no scenario (except the final 4 fire-making) that giving up immunity necklace is beneficial. If you give it to someone who is safe anyways, you haven't changed anything. If you give to someone who would be going home, you're going home instead. JT's move is not that different from being blindsided by someone you thought is your ally.
@@brooklyn4198 he just wanted to get some hot dog in his mouth
the first clips showing s20 is SO funny. it was an awesome plan if Russell was on the outs, but the fact that Russell wasn't made this episode into my top 2 along with the ep in Micronesia where the girls get Erik to hand over the necklace
In Pearl islands I like how they don't tell us that Sandra is the one who spilled the fish until afterwards
I like how in every season they don't tell us who wins until the last episode it's like such a unique way of Storytelling
Yul? Yul. I felt that 😂
I forgot how much I liked Ron lol. "Ron's everyone's ally, if I dont' vote with you now, I'll vote with you next time"
nothing will ever top that HvV merge episode. nothing
Sandra seeing right through Fairplay has always been one of my favorite Sandra moments. She did NOT hesitate. "Fairplay's buddy." 🤣
It's not always about you all the time
They just did another one in 41! I’m glad they’re keeping this going
Yes! I loved it. Glad to see the editors mixing it up.
Don’t know if you’ve done this yet but do a story if “The pawn always goes home” on big brother
that hasn’t happened in a while now that i think of it. the only real recent one i can think of is rachel in bb20
@@nizzle428 Does cliff count in BB21? The first time he was evicted.
Also “flippers never win” in Survivor
I love both of those video suggestions!
@@nizzle428 “WHATS WRONG WITH ANGELA????!?!?” 🤣 🤣
In Heroes vs Healers vs Hustlers I remember them not showing Ben getting that idol that was under the shelter. I think I’m right? Great video though! Always love them.
You're right! Great catch. They pulled another instance similar to Amanda - except Ben revealed he found the idol halfway into tribal. Another example of the modern editing team mixing it up a bit.
I was never fooled by the editing with Amanda and Ben. Just didn't make sense in either case. They both knew they were the targets so obviously they would grab the idol even if it meant everyone seeing they had it.
That's because they showed him where it was hahaha! JK I love you Ben.
That's what i thought of too but i couldn't remember if thats exactly what happened or not
Loved the moment when Parvati gave the idol to Jerri with the music and JT saying damn it 😂 it was perfect
every time you play Extreme Ways it makes the Genius fan inside me ascends a little
The people need Genius analysis vids
I would love a The Genius analysis
Imagine if all American reality shows were edited like The Genius! That intro was so good
19:51 Funny how you showed Sandra's face during this scene and how she was the only one not baited by Fairplay's lie.
Adding the Jason Bourne music to Parvati's idol play was absolutely beautiful
That opening clip always makes me think that Stephen should have won Tocantins.
But he didn't. I wish he did win though instead of JT.
JT owned Tocantines. And Stephen’s final tribal council performance of being a winey baby, trying to blame everything that went wrong on JT, and downplaying the actual good strategy that JT had is a big reason why he didn’t win.
The starting of this video just reminded me of how mad I was when Parvati didn't win HvsV, but now I'm not that mad. I love Survivor's queen and princess
Funny that first episode of David vs Goliath show us Dan success and Nick being a total disaster only for Nick being the one who outplayed Dan later. Wow such a incredible season
omg so basically David vs Goliath in those two characters, stan the bible and editors
Yeah it was an incredible season.
They should have a season where the audience doesnt know anyone has an idol until they play it or reveal it at tribal, then like a flashback of when the player found the idol would be cool to add the suspense and make it more interesting not knowing who has an idol.
I don’t know if it qualifies as “flipping the script” but the aubry boot in EOE was also great how they gave her all the post immunity challenge confessionals only for her to get blindsided by everyone else
Gary was definitely one of the more underrated strategists on Guatemala
Totally agree.
The *actual* first player to find a hidden immunity idol without a clue. Though Judd did do him some favors in that regard.
Landscapers know the land and how to find idols
@@boomz2526 Gary Hawkins i think he said his name was 🤣
Gary Hawkins, landscaper?
I know it's not a huge storytelling thing, but I want more editing like the Nick butting into other conversations montage or the montage of people throwing different names out (both from WaW).
2:24 Peridiam with that The Genius editing. Great work and if Survivor had that editing by default, moments would definitely be more iconic I think.
BAHAHA THE LOOK ON JT’s FACE UGH PARVATI IS SUCH A QUEEN
I love how the music starts to play to show just how much of a gangster parv is
This is probably my favourite vid of yours, been here since the beginning. Keep it up!
This was a wonderful video 😄😄😄
Thank you for all your efforts!!These videos are truly amazing!!
Glad you enjoyed it!
You should start doing a "what ifs..??" Series.
Yes^^
I’ve always wanted to. Maybe I will!
Yes
@@Peridiam I'd love to see what if Denise writes Tony's name down at the Sandra boot tribal
Love this topic! Great work
I remember you mentioning making this video on a Survivor Specialists video. I like seeing this kind of stuff about storytelling creativity.
Excellent topic, well-edited...Peridiam, you’re the hostest with the mostest.
I personally think it would be better if we the audience never knew if people found the idol
The Jason Bourne music was a perfect addition. Great content man!
Ive never even seen an episode of survivor but I found your videos some how and now I cant stop watching them
This editing is building up for the inevitable The Genius video
Here is one I feel you should have talked about. During episode 5 of Survivor Caramoan, Brandon Hantz went on a rampage at camp, and when they entered the immunity challenge, the favorites tribe decided to forfeit the immunity challenge, go to tribal council and vote him off, which turned into an impromptu tribal council at the challenge site. In reality, the producers of the show forced him out of the game, and made the tribe act like they wanted to vote him out right there right then.
I like how the two worst movies made in HvV were both made by winners. Just showing how good Russell is, if he can get JT and Tyson (two players in the top 15 ever in my opinion) to take them self out of the game with little-no blood on his hands. that was Russell using good jury management (kind of) but Tyson was pre-jury and JT was still bitter.
I think it was super sad how bitter JT was, Russell even shook his hand on the way out. He was never rude to him or anything, but JT was super against Russell from the moment he got to Ponderosa just because Russell lied, which is stupid.
Another example is the editors having Sandra be voted out after Parvati in WaW, even though the order was swapped. Probably so it would finish on a big blindside
Another great editing job (altho it isn't necessarily scenes out of order or flashbacks) is the back and forth trash talking of Chris vs Dom in camp and confessionals in the GI merge... When Dom talks about the ridiculous shit Chris says and how he needs to show everyone how great he is and then they cut to different examples.... Masterful editing
The sounds effects and editing of the first video sounds similar to A Korean game show,The Genius
Damn that use of The Genius song at the start sent me wild.
Ugh Naseer’s idol find would’ve been perfect for this vid
So, I fully watched the first part yesterday and still didn't skip it this time. 🤣
nice touch with the extreme ways
One of your best episodes ever. WTB Peridiam
I do think they should keep idols secret from the viewers more often. May not always be possible if everyone knows a player has one, but in many cases it should be.
Love the moby- thought I hit play on my headphones or something lol
Thank you King Peridiam.
another scene I remember that left out info from DvG was the brochacho blindside, we never hear that the davids are planning to split their vote, and certainly don't hear who they're planning to vote for, so the blindside kinda blindsided us too, cause we didn't know what other names were getting written down.
Would love to see some The Genius content in the future
I love this style of story telling
And now we have xander making an idol without us knowing
And naseer finding the last one. They using this to perfection. Xander’s fake was kinda obvious tho
Love in Season 45 where Jake outlines this whole plan about how he sees Tribal Council going down and how they'll go to rocks and pressure Austin into switching his vote, and the editors use outtakes from the actual, yet-to-be-seen, Tribal Council to illustrate the plan, complete with a couple of the votes being cast. At first, I was like, how can they be giving any of this info away? And then you get to the actual Tribal Council and though you know a few snippets of what's going to happen, there's this fun tension because you don't know exactly how it's all going to play out.
I also liked in Season 46 where you had a pretty standard 'Split the Votes' to flush an idol plan against Hunter, but the whole thing was told from the point of view of Hunter who is running around paranoid not knowing if he should play his idol or not. And since the editors didn't show what any of the other players were thinking, it was this interesting feeling of seeing a familiar strategy, but from the perspective of the prey instead of that of the hunters.
I think the first way of telling the story, the one if they found the idol or not, happened a 3rd time when Ben found his second idol in the final 6? Or I don't remember correctly?
Yup!

@@haydnsayshi aww haydn hii!! No you are the icon!
8:30 Amanda finding the idol is like when you’re on roblox survivor and you get the idol when the timer is at 0:00 until tribal
I love this editing lol
You revitalized my love for Moby with that intro
Made me want to watch "The Genius " again.
that Godfather move Boston Rob made just made me tip my hat in approval. nice move
In Australian survivor season 4, AK also found an idol in early game but it was not revealed to the audience until he played it. Other players saw a hole and some strings and assume he found it but weren’t sure
this is CRAZY
The LEGEND Sylvia Quan snubbed for the idol withholding info from the viewer (she did not have the idol)
Damn.. that Jason Bourne OST (extreme ways) got me really pumped.
That opening edit was godly
Interesting topic to digest
Yul? Yul. This episode is gold
I think a great moment was from Episode 2 of Australian Survivor 2017, when AK and Adam both go looking, and you know one of them has it but the editors keep it from you until Jeff asks
Wait did you say Jeff is in Australian Survivor which season which episode is he a host or is he just a guest or is the other host named Jeff
Also similar to the Amanda idol, in HHH at the final 6 Ben finds the clue that the idol is under the shelter but Mike Ryan and Devon are there and tribal begins without us knowing if he got it...
Holy shit nice Genius reference at the end of the cold open!
19:48 LOL JOHNNY NOT HUGGING A POUTING SANDRA IS HILARIOUS 😂
Evvie, Xander, and Tiff's fake idol play to get Liana to play her advantage was top-tier editing...
Ron’s a legend for doing that to Joe
To me it sounds like survivor needs to start mixing in not knowing if someone found an idol (after a tip maybe), as well as not showing them even looking and just surprising us at the meetings.
that song on parvati's part reminded me of running man lol
I know in the past you have referenced BBCan in other big brother videos, would you consider working explicitly with that series of big brother content? There is def a different level of play there than with BBUS. With season 9 kicking off this past week, could be fun to explore :) whichever topic you see fit in that universe would be awesome to view :) thanks Peridiam in advance for your consideration of this video content idea :)
6:39 Yul.

can you do a video where you cover the history of old classic survivor challenges? such as the hanging onto the pole one or the arm attached to bucket one?
I plan to cover classic puzzle challenges in the near future. Maybe I’ll get to physical/endurance too.
Love your videos, but maybe consider listing seasons mentioned in your description 🥰
I'll still never understand how people don't know every single season maybe my ex-girlfriend was right maybe I am a super fan
The Dan idol find edit was sooooo good, But they could have done that before with an idol finder so much more lovable, like Yau-Man or Jay
3:10 His handwriting though
JT revealed that it was actually Amanda's
Love your videos, how about one on worst final tribal council performances.... like Sherri in caramoan, Tai in kaoh rong
They do non-linear editing very well on The Genius (South Korea)
I completely wish they still did idol editing like this.
I really want to watch the full survivors but I don't what app or where to watch the full thing:((
it’s the sting from the Genius at 2:21 for me
You kind of talked about this in the podcast with the survivor specialists
God, I will never *not* love that double idol play by Parv in Heroes VS Villains. (The Heroes absolutely deserved to get steamrolled solely for voting out Cirie. LOL. At least that’s how I feel about it. Hahaha.)
That opening about the awful HvV idol giveaway was great, music and all! Great work as always Peridiam!
Thanks Danny!
I’m not even ashamed about how excited I get when you post a video or how much of a fan girl I am
