FYI the SJDS version of “Touchy Subjects” was trivia-based so I didn’t include it. It’s not the same to me when it doesn’t involve the players opinions (hence why it’s not a “touchy subject” since it’s just random facts).
Survivor needs to bring back the question of who's this and that it brings out the pecking order of who's with who imo and was so good

I don’t like how they changed the auction rules to where you can’t share food or money anymore. The sharing made it more interesting.
With the ability to share it would just cause everyone to not bid, one person buys it, and shares it with everyone. defeating the purpose of the auciton. thats why they had to change it
@@callmechaf1165 They should just tweak it. Make it so they can only share with one person. You'll see how alliances fall really quick.
Sharing is also unfair if you have one person at the bottom and nobody will pool money with you, and there is a steak or something super attractive
That would have spiced it up with the social side of things. To see if there were leaders, who stood along side who, if someone was willing to consume or spend less money/food personally to maybe gain some goodwill amongst their peers, potentially gaining and losing allies based on the willingness to share or keep things for yourself, etc.
I like how when asked "Who is the biggest poser?" Shane's answer was "SHANE".
Everyone thought everyone else would vote Shane... when in reality they all voted Courtney. That's probably even worse for her lol

They should’ve done Touchy Subjects for Winners at War and made all the questions winner related (i.e., Who didn’t deserve to win their season?”
Michele. I love her as a person, even has a player. But Aubry dominated too much and got screwed over too many times to not win. Wish we saw this challenge!

Modern Survivor prefers repetitive boring endurance challenges unfortunately.
gingy I would think Sophie over Michele, because Aubry screwed herself over and Sophie did nothing, Michele also won a couple challenges.
OriSwag2010 you can say the same thing about Sophie. She won a couple of immunities infamously the Ozzy one where she voted him out and coach screwed himself like Aubry did
The funniest part about that 12 hour challenge is the producers had no idea it would go that long. As the sun was going down, they had to scramble to get lighting rigs set up for it. Its why the nighttime lighting isn’t up to Survivor’s usual standards.
Funny thing is, I really like the lighting for that challenge. It was atmospheric and felt more emotionally intimate.

I’m amazed Jeff was able to say Sophie wins immunity at Ozzy’s expense without breaking down into tears minutes after.
I often think about this comment. very funny.

Agreed. They do this in australian survivor and it is good and well deserving every time. ALSO THINK THEY SHOULD HAVE DONE THIS FOR EDGE OF EXTINCTION RETURN CHALLENGES.

Dragon Monkey There has to be something that the people on EOE can do though. Doesn't seem fair that they cant do anything to increase their odds of winning
I really liked the challenge where they would wear weights and run or walk around a oval shape to tag to opposite team who started parallel to their team
Yes! That’s one of the challenges I was hoping to see here. I know they did it in Palau (naturally Ulong lost lol) but can’t remember which other seasons they did it.
@@koshea44 They did it in Caramoan as a reward challenge after the swap. I remember Phillip's tribe did horribly as the other tribe was mostly the young fit people! It was a blow out!
cupcakeleah Oh yeahh I remember now. Thanks they really need to bring that challenge back, and it’s been plenty of time since Caramoan so ideally they could use it in s41 or s42
@@koshea44 im pretty sure they did it in the Cook Islands (the first immunity after the swap i think but don’t quote me) and they have done it in quite a few Australian Survivor seasons

Ozzy losing final immunity in South Pacific is actually so heartbreaking
While the Blair Witch version of that challenge is iconic, I also like in Cambodia where Stephen initially goes for the wrong answer, causing Abi (who is copying off of him) to choose the wrong answer. Stephen has since said that was not intentional to fool Abi but I think it partially was.
It looked pretty intentional to me! Pretty sure he even said ‘Sorry Abi’ right after
@@PineappleLiar Stephen confirmed on Twitter when that episode aired (he wasn't doing the Know It Alls that season since he was on the show) that it was unintentional and that he said "Sorry" because he realized that Abi assumed his first pick was what he thought was correct.
Check out the "hand on a hard idol" last three finale from Survivor Australia Season 1. Epic is an understatement. Set on a cliff top adjacent to the ocean, after 54 days, contestants competed in front of family members, standing on poles about the size of your fist, and regularly getting drenched by spray from pounding waves on an incoming tide, the first contestant dropped out after 6 hours 20 minutes before the second place-getter fell from his poles, after over 6 1/2 hours before the winner collapsed onto him.
That one was insane!! I love it off of location alone.
I MISS THE AUCTION. I think one way they could bring it back would be to not have an advantage/idol at the end, make that the loved ones letter/video/visit. Instead, they could sneakily hide different advantages or disadvantages in with other items like they do with other challenges. A clue to an idol on the bottom of a plate of "local delicacies", so you'd have to eat something unappetizing but possibly get an idol. A scroll hidden in a napkin. You buy burgers and beer and french fries but you have a disadvantage at the next challenge. OR if they want to keep the whole fire tokens thing going, have advantages be a second auction where you need to use fire tokens to buy in. They could even force those without tokens to leave, making what happens at the second auction more secretive.
TL;DR bring back the auction and CBS hire me to the Dream Team I HAVE IDEAS.

I love these ideas and i really want the auction to return. I was actually optimistic it might return this season since its "winners at war" but unfortunately i dont think jeff will ever bring it back

Hey Peridiam, I just want to give a huge thanks to you for inspiring me to start me own survivor channel. Without you I likely wouldn't have began my journey in survivor and vicariously this channel. I began watching you during your videos like reviewing David vs Goliath and loved them and as someone that doesn't have any irl friends that watch survivor it's always great to watch your content. why does no one talk about the fact that we saw the "by any means necessary" challenge in Surivor: Panama and Cirie just picked up one of the girls and threw her like two feet. I will never forget that moment.
I do really love the seasons focused around location like Palau, China and Gabon.. they have some of the best challenges that highlight their locations. It'd be nice to see them go back to a season like this after their Fiji contract is up; do not expect it, unfortunately.
We loved Pearl Islands, how it was super pirate themed. XD I think they probably do another Fiji with new people and fire tokens first once filming can happen again. Hoping for some new actual challenges, after we saw like 30 seasons in a row they recycled a few too many of the same puzzles.
@@ExitSiign definitely should have mentioned Pearl Islands.. it's kinda surprised me how loved that season is with the theme and challenges and they haven't attempted it again with their love of recycling themes.

Your comment is over a year old, but I have to ask: WHERE in the world do you live, that you hadn't heard of Survivor? It's one thing to not watch it, but never hear of it? That's like saying you've never heard of MrBeast. You either need to be really old, really young, or really isolated to have completely missed it.

Excellent video! I found myself agreeing with every list entry so enthusiastically. The premiere with by 'any means necessary' was one of the first episodes I ever watched live and even in the period where I stopped watching survivor I would find myself thinking about those moments ALL THE TIME

“When it rains it pours” peaked in season 16 Micronesia. So iconic
by any means necessary has always been my favorite , so entertaining to watch ! along with the slingshot challenge which they had a couple times but the one in tocantins, seeing JT dominate catching balls left and right was amazing to watch !

I personally really like the "Out on a Limb" and Maze style challenges. I love mazes and how much they can turn who's winning in the span of 2 seconds. My personal favorite was the vertical maze back in Survivor Vanuatu called "Snakes and Ladders". I know it was insanely physical and left those who were unable to keep pulling themselves upward in the maze behind, but the idea was mind blowing to me and I loved the design of the course. I had never seen a vertical maze and when the camera zoomed in on the challenge at the very beginning I instantly knew that I wanted to participate in that challenge. It's one of the few challenges that has done that for me. It will always be the one challenge I remember out of all of Survivor

Palau's buoy endurance challenge was definitely Jeff's least favorite challenge. I'm sure the creative team got an earful after it was finally over!
probably, however Jeff has alot more say so than people realize.
THE MAZES. The vertical maze being featured was absolutely mandatory in this video or I would have begun the riots. Also the Guatemala maze was stunning and the HvV final four maze was absolutely incredible and a perfect final challenge for the season.

My all time favorite Challenge is the Ropes Course used in the first couple seasons "End of the Line." Hasn't been seen since Australia, because they use a lot more challenges that combine Mental/Physical now, but that Ropes course was fun to watch.

Hand on the idol is such a classic. Wish they would bring it back. Also totally with you on the Sumo platform thing. Really any of the super physical challenges are great

No one else love season 1 were they had to run into a house and find objects? I loved that one.

The auction was one of my favorites as well also like the one where they push each other in the mud and coach karate chops the guy or the one where there’s one person on a pole and two people rip them off and pull them to the finish line

I really enjoyed the "Running out of Air" challenge. Although it could be a bit torturous I guess.
Big Brother did "When it rains it pours" except bc the contestants weren't starved and physically exhausted they were there for like 6 hours and one of them had semipermanent nerve damage from it and production had to beg them to work out a deal so they could end it.
Love the number 1 challenge and how it was done in Australian survivor season 1 it was awesome too!
I really love the challenge where they need to catch the other ream running through the deep and shallow water

just binged AUS and NZ survivor(during quarantine lol)... one of my favorite parts is they bring back all the classic US challenges and pretty much every single one of your top 10 lol

During the first season of the french version of Survivor ("Koh Lanta") in 2000, the last challenge was a touch the idol challenge, as in survivor Borneo. The challenge lasted more than 10 hours. At this time, nobody thought that this challenge will last so long. Since then, and now on for the 22nd season of "Koh Lanta", when only three contenders are still in game, the contender have to stand on a thin wooden pole located in the middle of the ocean. The winner is one of the two finalists, and has to choose the other finalist. It leads to epic scenes where the winner must choose to be go to the final with a friend, or secure his own final victory.
In France, it is a legendary challenge called "l'épreuve des poteaux".

I like the challenge (e.g. in Pearl Islands) where each tribe has people holding up a bar that gets more and more weight added to it.
I think the puzzles ones where you have to think through the answers are my favorite.

My favorite that I wish would return is "Fallen Comrades" - it's just so good. (Except in Australia where they asked a bunch of "application" questions) For adapting it to a modern season, maybe make it 20 questions instead of 8. Would give a lot of room for comebacks, but also rewards players/audience members who care about the contestants and past challenges.
You should do some videos on australian survivor!! I recommend watching the last two seasons!

I love the bug eating contest. It's so gross, but I just love it when players are so torn, to either eat that thing or just say, SCREW IT, I AM NOT DOINT IT! (Gervase eating and jumping up and down, gets me everytime).
Honestly it’s so sad to see the auction gone I don’t watch survivor anymore but I try to tune in for that challenge no wonder I never see it

Vanuatu's vertical maze is my favorite of all time
Does anyone remember which season/competition it was when the contestants had to run into a jungle and memorize about 16 digits and come out again? Everyone except one guy had to go back multiple times but the guy remembered all 16 at once and it was rather impressive. It was one of the earlier seasons.
I just finished watching Australia Survivor Season 3. The endurance challenge at the end was epic in its emotions. El drops out and Christie pulls every emotional string she is able to on Lee to get him to drop off his perch. She even resorts to calling him her dad in the game. She barters by offering him a position in the final two where she claims he is a shoe in to win the title of sole survivor. She begs and cries until he finally gives in. EPIC.
Australia was season 2 not 3, season 3 was Africa

Season 1, “Battle in Borneo” was cool with blow darts, sling shots, and spears shot at fruit.
The challenges and the survival aspect of the game is my favorite, that’s why I am an Ozzy fan.
My favorite was the outback challenge where they cut each other's ropes because it revealed the pecking order and changed the outcome.

I love Courtney from Survivor heros vs Villains that Crack about breaking Stephanie's shoulder was hilarious, and then Stephanie suffered a shoulder injury not shortly after. Idk for some reason Courtney was always a gold mine for hilarious quotes.
The bowling challenge never came back because you need very specific geography to run that challenge. You can’t do that on a tropical island. Unless they build a giant sloping platform

Sam Spady her win may not have been amazing but you have to admit, she did do a pretty kick but job on Winners at War before she was blindsided. I honestly thought she might be the winner for a good time there with the edit she got.

Sam Spady she wasnt meant to. everything was going her way so she got comfortable. its happened to multiple people who are considered great people. she was a great player, tony was just a little better
