So good to see him like this. I was lucky enough to spend some time with him, played some shows he and stayed with my girlfriend and I a few days. He was and is one of my greatest heros and I found him to be everything I hoped he would be. Humble, polite, laid back, and generous.Hanging out playing acoustics ( I asked him to show me how to play Babylon, he did ) and going to the store for food at 3 am, and doing the other stuff we had in common, it is a great memory in my life. I gave him a button of James Brown off my jacket that he liked, and he gave me hand painted tux jacket. I thought he was wonderful, and very much like he is here. J.T. Forever!
Met him a few days after this interview, and he was simply as nice and loveable as shown here! A fantastic person, very polite, shy and simply loveably nice! A true one of a kind!
Holy Crap STV! That is friggin awesome! They captured the REAL JT there, such a great cat, I still miss him! Thanks for this, and please post more if you have it!
He was a good songwriter. Going on stage fucked up was not a good look and did is talent a disservice. But when he was straight he put on a hell of a show. In the Flesh is a good live show.

Lymphatic leukemia made him so sick, and probably killed him in the end. In the docu 'Looking For Johnny' his death certificate read he also suffered from livercirrhosis.
yeah but Lymphatic leukemia is a common condition associated with aids.....I'm convinced Johnny must have picked up HIV in the early 80's NYC shooting galleries....it would be a miracle if he didn't have it, his buddy John Spacely died of the disease around the same time thunders died
Yeah, but he had a wife in Sweden and they had a child in 1987 or 1988. The wife/girlfriend didn't get no aids, still alive and well today. So that theory can't be right.
He ran his body into the ground. Heroin, hard drugs, alcohol and every form of unhealthy lifestyle that was humanly possible without using a gun to your temple

Johnny looks good here
Brilliant. Thank you so much for posting.
It’s too bad they didn’t have subtitles, I could have listened to another six minutes of JT speaking so candidly with such interesting things to say.
Thanks for watching and commenting Elli
Great condition, thanks!
Love you Johnny

The most sober I've ever seen him!
He reminds me of Robert De Niro. Mean Streets
More like pacino........

.,..,. Notice that , he can sit there , and , do nothing ....in interesting way...😄
Do nothing? He's doing a TV Interview.
@@misterslats Claude Montana black nylon bush jacket......( That's wat he's wearing )
@@phantompanther648 OK ...good to know. So many sleepless nights I've had wondering.
@@misterslats Well you obviously dont know he was like an A list actor is my point.
@@phantompanther648 Johnny Thunders was like an a-list actor? You are incredibly uninformed.
Johnny looked great here , but if you watch from 1989 he went into a rapid decline, he was sick...I suspect the start of aids
Lymphatic leukemia made him so sick, and probably killed him in the end. In the docu 'Looking For Johnny' his death certificate read he also suffered from livercirrhosis.

How sad. I always thought it was just addiction issues outside any major disease. But I can see all of those things being possible.

I mean, he's good, but he's no Frankie Goes to Hollywood
