I love Ms. Lydia sooooooo much. She's the one who taught me to stop putting oil in the water when cooking my pasta. It comes out less slippery, and the sauce sticks to it better.
This woman is absolutely fearless, and absolutely incredibly graceful. Can’t get enough of this show. Thank You for sharing. These segments exactly the right length.
I love this easy baked ziti, so warm and comforting. I would add italian sausage and peppers and onions. The kids never liked to many vegetables, so I put the vegetables in the blender and they never knew they were eating broccoli or cauliflower. Great memories! Have a great day everyone!
I used to love watching her show on PBS, and I always make baked ziti (usually I add ground Italian sausage), but I never thought of mixing the ricotta in the sauce first, or layering it like a lasagne. Time to make some RIGHT NOW!!!
Bravo! Make sure you cook the pasta a couple of minutes short of al dente...it will continue to cook in the oven. Also, serve with plenty of extra marinara sauce as the pasta tends to dry out al forno.
I just love Lidia’s recipes! They look so delicious and she makes it seem so easy to make. My family loves baked ziti. We used vegetarian Italian sausage , eggplant, zucchini, mushroom, onion , & garlic , with of course provolone , mozzarella , and Parmesan and it was delicious ! ❤
Love this my friend thank you. When I cook with you it reminds me of my Italian sister in law teaching me how to cook 50 years ago. Now I'm Nana Sunday dinner 🌹🥖🍷🍷🤗
Ahhh, thank you Miss Lidia. I watched this 3 times & found the courage to make this for some Italian Americans in my sons (married family). It was devoured & I was praised. Just like that! MmmmmMmmmMmmm.💖
I remember watching cooking shows on PBS throughout the years and she, and her delicious food were among my favorites! Simple, comfort food for mah soul! 😋
I'm Vietnamese but my kids love Italian foods. Anything with pasta and red sauce, and a lot of cheese. Especially bake ziti have all in one. Look so simple enough for me to try. I will let you know if my kids like it. Thank you!
Love your coocking, very good recipies and it is a joy to cook them a home. My father was born in collecorvino and he often made a ragu with mutton and the pasta he used where large sized pipe rigate so the sauce filled every little bit of the pasta ,and i tell you it was delicious. And of course we ate a lot of pipindune e ove.
Was looking for an easy baked ziti recipee never made it before- I should've known LIDIA!!!!!! watch😘💯👍👌❤ you for years from south Florida on public broadcasting system ❤🙂

here is the recipe for Baked Ziti: This is Lidia's from a comment she left earlier in the comments section. :) Serves 6-8 Kosher salt 1 pound ziti 5 cups marinara sauce 1 pound fresh ricotta, drained 9 fresh basil leaves 1 pound low-moisture mozzarella, cut into ¼-inch cubes 1 cup shredded provola Preheat oven to 400 degrees F. Bring a large pot of salted water to boil and add ziti. Cook the ziti until just al dente, about 10 to 12 minutes, and drain. Meanwhile, bring the marinara sauce to simmer in a large skillet. Stir in the ricotta and basil leaves. Spread ½ cup of the sauce in the bottom of a 15-by-10-inch Pyrex baking dish. Layer half of the ziti on top of the sauce. Sprinkle with half the mozzarella cubes and half of the provola. Pour 2 cups of the sauce over the cheese, and spread in an even layer. Top with the rest of the pasta, and spread 2 cups sauce over that layer of pasta. Sprinkle with the remaining cheeses, and dollop with the remaining ½ cup of sauce. Place the dish in the oven and bake, uncovered, until browned and bubbly, about 30 minutes. Let rest 5 minutes before cutting. (If you want to assemble this ahead of time, bake for 15 minutes covered with foil, then, when ready to serve, uncover and bake for an additional 20 minutes.)

here is the recipe for Baked Ziti: This is Lidia's from a comment she left earlier in the comments section. :)
Serves 6-8
Kosher salt
1 pound ziti
5 cups marinara sauce
1 pound fresh ricotta, drained
9 fresh basil leaves
1 pound low-moisture mozzarella, cut into ¼-inch cubes
1 cup shredded provola
Preheat oven to 400 degrees F.
Layer half of the ziti on top of
the sauce. Sprinkle with half the mozzarella cubes and half of the provola.
Pour 2 cups of the sauce over the cheese, and spread in an even layer. Top with
the rest of the pasta, and spread 2 cups sauce over that layer of pasta.
Sprinkle with the remaining cheeses, and dollop with the remaining ½ cup of
sauce.
Place the dish in the oven and bake, uncovered, until browned and bubbly, about 30 minutes. Let rest 5 minutes
before cutting. (If you want to assemble this ahead of time, bake for 15
minutes covered with foil, then, when ready to serve, uncover and bake for an additional
20 minutes.)
