We had real trees when I was little, but then had fake pre-lit ones for a long times because we had pets. Two years ago, I asked for a real tree...and ended up super sick the whole month! Apparently I'm allergic to pine/fir trees. We usually decorate the tree on Sinterklaas and keep our tree up until Twelfth Night, but we actually got rid of it on Boxing Day because I was having such a rough time with it.
