I am happy to introduce you the Blackmagic Camera App for your iPhone. It is a great and FREE alternative to the out of the box camera app and offers your more versatility. I hope I can help you with this video to get into the app very quickly ❤. If you have any questions or requests, pls feel to comment. Thank you so much 🫶
Hi, that’s a very informative video. But I just wonder why no one mentions taking stills or pictures with this app. Like it’s not really clear if it can take pictures or not. I installed this app for pictures, unfortunately, I can’t see any buttons for capturing pictures. It always records videos. Is this app only made for videos?
@@paul_0218 thank you and yes I think is is a video cam app, blackmagic has its software for videoediting with DaVinci resolve and their video cameras 😃
I see, thanks for your timely response. I just found it a bit confusing because the App Store says "Photo & Video" yet we are unable to take photos with it
Hi , thanks for the vid …really informative . But I have a problem . When the phone is in landscape mode the picture is the right way but the controls are in portrait mode , is there a setting for this so it looks like yours please ? Thank you
Thank you so much, the question is which part 😁 the talking head I‘ve recorded as usual with my Sony A7IV and with my Sigma 16-28mm F2.8 on appr. 24mm. Additionally good lighting 🤩 the tutorial was shot directly via a screen recording Programm directly on the iPhone, but only in 1080p, all other recordings are in 4K 8bit 👍
I have just discovered the Blackmagic camera app, as I am using my wife’s old iPhone (I’m normally an Android guy) The app seems pretty good but I am wondering whether there is a pause button, for use during filming. I find it a very useful feature, as it prevents any changes during the video process.
Yes I also recognized that, but in general recording videos drains the battery faster and the mobile gets hot 🔥 don‘t know any numbers but maybe I could do a Timelapse or so until the battery is empty 😂
Hi Christian, i like the way you share knowledge on this channel. Would that be possible to have more in depth tutorial about monitoring exposure with false colors and zebra or focus control tool? I mean little bit more background for how selecting particular percentage affects video. Would be also great if there is a tutorial for color correctness in DR. Really nice channel to follow!
Thank you for your awesome feedback 🫶 sure i will put it on my list for future videos 👍 next one will be a review but the one after that I plan to do another DR tutorial
Bro, how to know the iso is good enough or too over? I means we lock the fps and shutter speed right, so the EV function will not show as -2,-1,0,1,2... but only ISO. When shoting outside, hard to know how the brightness of footage?
@@DuongBuiStories Stick to your eyes and the histogram; you can also use the zebras but I for my part check the histogram and trust also my eyes then it should work; small hint it is better to under than to overexpose because then you can get back the highlights better; white areas are lost; hope it helps 👍 Ah and due to ISO the lower the better for sure; depends on your phone, but when it goes over 800 I would check an additional lighting; most of the time I do a sample shot; when it is okay on a higher iso we were lucky if not use more light or accept more grain; I do often the 2nd option because for me the content is more important than the quality
Have you recorded it maybe in 60fps and it plays it back by default in slow motion 24/25 or 30fps then it is slowed down about 50%, try to bring it on your computer and play it with VLC it should run in real time but in a ‚sharper‘ quality without motion blur; I can recommend my Slow Motion video and framerates to understand what happens
I'm not sure if you make a habit out of reacting to older video's, but I was wondering if you could enlighten me on the usage of what you described in the "How to use the (Auto) Focus & Exposure" section. I've got the iPhone 15 Pro Max and with this app, but it just tends to bring everything into focus rather than the example you're showing where you've got the focus on either the bird or the birdhouse. I was hoping to use the native Cinematic Mode that comes with the iPhone 15 Pro Max together with the Blackmagic Camera app for optimal results, but so far I seem to not have a clue on how to get this to work. Perhaps you're willing to enlighten me if it is at all possible.
Hi, thanks for this question; so normally when I use the camera app the focus jumps to the nearest object oder person in the frame. Only if I push then the screen to the background it switches. Maybe you switched a setting? Actually it should work out of the box. But I have to check this in detail. I‘ve already planned a new video where I will show examples shot with the app. I will check this scenario then as well 👍
@@christianeggbauer As a noob, I'd probably would love to see a new video about this, as I'm currently not really understanding what I could presumably have done wrong. I've got the iPhone 15 Pro Max with Blackmagic Camera app since yesterday and haven't fooled around with it that much, but who knows, perhaps I already screwed it up :D
@@christianeggbauer I think you are right, it's a great app but it's just lacking that one thing. Phone light is a bit harsh, but it is good for some particular shots
Hi and thanks for watching; my phone is not a pro so it doesn‘t support it; as soon as you have a pro one I assume you can choose it from the settings menu then.
After 2 days searching, i found it. That’s depending of which color space do you use. Rec 2020 HDR is 10 bits, P3D65 is 8 bits. This is the only defect of this app ( bit choice isn’t clear) + log mode missing ( if you have not iphone 15). If not i love this app.
Very interesting and helpful video. But could you say, take a video outside, and show how to set up all the controls to get the best result. Many thanks
