DaVinci Resolve 18.6 - Fake Easily Slow Motion with Optical Flow | Christian's Tech Tips Episode 5
❗❗❗ HINT: The combination of OPTICAL FLOW + SPEED WARP is only working in the Studio Version, but there is an option to use it also in the free version: Use OPTICAL FLOW + ENHANCED to get rid of the watermark in the Free Version of DaVinci Resolve and the output should be similar and also fine ❗❗❗
🎥✨ Have you ever tried to create a cool slow-motion clip by simply slowing it down, but it ends up jerky and unusable? It’s likely because your footage was shot at a lower frame rate than needed, or you realized during editing that the scene would look more cinematic in slow motion, but you recorded it in 24 or 30 fps. Don’t worry-I’ve got you covered!

🔍 In this episode of Christian's Tech Tips, I'll show you how to transform your 30 fps footage into buttery-smooth slow motion using DaVinci Resolve’s powerful “Optical Flow” feature. This tool can create artificial frames to fill in the gaps, making your footage look like it was recorded at a much higher frame rate, such as 120 fps.

    When it renders, it renders way past the video clips. How do I resolve that issue?

    • @christianeggbauer
      @christianeggbauer 2 дні тому

      @@jamroc626 this also happened to me; the reason could be that you forgot to delete something in the end during the edit or in a timeline there is something behind the video you didn’t delete; I would suggest test it and play it back from the last endpoint in the preview; when it doesn’t stop you know that there is something left; if it renders and stuck at 99% you should restart the program or your computer and try it again.

      @@christianeggbauer Thanks for that. Yes, it seems it's Speed Warp that's Studio only. When I select a different setting other than Speed Warp, the watermark disappears. Hard to say, the sound works fine on the iPad for me; are you using mp3 or wav for the sound? Which format has your video? Maybe the codec you use isn‘t supported? Great start to the video but when I went to upload my video into the media pool, it asked me to access the folder then said unable to access the folder. My file is a .MOV file and I’m working on a 2015 MacBook Pro running iOS Sonoma. Is this normal? I’m so annoyed as I was finally taking the dive to learn video editing. I haven’t had issues with iMovie but it seems to be incredibly limited in its abilities.

    • @christianeggbauer
      @christianeggbauer Місяць тому

      I am not working on a MacBook but no it should work when the videos are not in 10bit in the free version; I would search for the error message; apparently you can not access the folder maybe you restricted it or you need permissions? I would check this out. Mov files work fine in 8bit I do it all the time with my iPhone files 🤷‍♂️

    Excellent video. Question: What does the stablilization do exactly?

    • @christianeggbauer
      @christianeggbauer Місяць тому

      The stabilizer, or warp stabilizer, analyzes unwanted movements that cause the video image to shake and attempts to compensate for them. This works quite well with minor shakes, but less so with more severe ones, resulting in these jittery movements. This form of stabilization is not like the IBIS (In-Body Image Stabilization) in a Sony camera, which moves the sensor to compensate for movements; instead, it is digital. DaVinci calculates everything and tries to correct it. There are three versions that use different algorithms to achieve the best possible result. Hope this helps :)

    can you only change from Mono to Stereo in the original clips before you have created a multicam clip? When I right click on the audio portion of my multicam clip in the time line there is no clip attributes choice in the drop down menu where you could access the audio specs. If I right click in the original clip I can see the clip attributes choice.
