hi. thanks for this video. about auto focus: do I understand correctly? you need to tap the screen to set the focus to the object you tapped on. (besides setting focus manually using rhe slider). QUESTION: how can I set auto focus when I film myself for talking head videos? I would have to walk towards the phone and tap the screen, but obviously my face would not be in the canvas at that moment. any solution for this?
You are very welcome. If you’re just filming yourself, it’s gonna be OK. You don’t have to tap anything. The autofocus is quite good as it is.

Excellent video, the best explanation, I have a question if the files that I record in Apple Log can be reproduced with rec709 color space from the iPhone or will they be seen in Apple Log as a flat image? I would take my files to Davinci Resolve to do the conversion but my producer who doesn't understand much would use those files for social networks without carrying out the conversion process. Thank you in advance
Unfortunately, the rec709 it’s only for a preview. You have to convert the files in the post.

Try to check if you have the latest version of the app. Also, some iPhone models might not support this feature.
This is really good. Thanks. is there a way to set white balance using a grey card? In filmic pro you zoom in into the grey card, press auto white balance, lock it, and zoom out back again. Does it work like that in Black Maigc cam app? Thanks!

I would try to update the app. Make sure you have the latest version. Some phones might not support it though.

I hope the auto mode will handle hdr better on android phones (both selfie and rear camera) especially outdoor situation. Hdr video inclusive
This is only for Apple phones, so it doesn’t exist for android phones

I'm using an iPhone Pro Max with this app and I find indoor footage to be rather noisy. When I use the native camera app or filmic pro 6...its not. Any idea why?
I would have to see the sitting you are using… are you shooting an automatic or manual mode? If you push the ISO a little bit high, then you get a lot of noise.

Just downloaded the app. First thing I tried was to switch back and forth between the front facing camera and rear facing camera while recording. It looked fine while recording, but when I went to play the videos back, one of camera views was upside down. Whichever camera I start recording with shows up fine, but the camera I switch to always shows up upside down during playback. Have you encountered this problem, and if so, found a solution? Thank you!

No, this is strictly a video app
17:19 I'm not getting any auto-exposure when touching the screen with the ISO button selected. In fact, it doesn't appear to make any difference when you're touching the screen in the video. Is this functionality gone? In a previous version there was an Auto button at the top of the ISO selector. That's gone and I can't seem to get any kind of auto-exposure.
I figured it out! If you have the shutter angle/shutter speed LOCKED, there is no Auto Exposure button in the Exposure Compensation menu. I guess you can't have the app use only ISO to set the exposure? Weird, as most filmmakers want to lock the fps and shutter speed and since we can't adjust the iris, ISO is all that's left. So you either get AE but no way to lock the shutter speed or you have to manually control exposure. And, sorry to burry the lead, another great video explaining everything in a way that even a simpleton like me can understand...almost understand!
I’m glad you found the solution. Apps are a little bit different than working with actual cameras. It took me a little bit to figure out this app too.

My copy of the app doesn’t list apple log as an option in the color space tab.
You might have older version of of the app or simply the type of phone doesn’t support it

Audio has ieee float option. I hope some experts test it to confirm if this is “never clipping 32 bit float”.

@@ZdenkaDarula Understand it’s not an easy task. I test with Zoom f3 yell with all of my strength can’t clip 23bit pcm. No way to test the ieee float.

Why Blackmagic camera app turns off the flashlight light after I turn it on my iPhone 15 Pro Max whenever I use Blackmagic camera app to record videos at night or in the dark room? Without flashlight light on, it records black videos in the dark room. Apple camera app lets iphone flashlight light on whenever I record videos in the dark or at night. Blackmagic should update this featurue "flashlight light when I turn it on or off" by using Blackmagic camera app on iPhone 15 Pro or Pro Max.

iOS is a simple system so it is the easiest to develop apps for it… every Android has different system so it is more complicated there. Hopefully Blackmagic will consider creating this app also for Android if it is financially possible

That is strange… try updating the app
You need to have the iPhone 15. The models don’t have the log capability. That’s why it’s nit showing up in Blackmagic.
