BABYMETAL will return to Download this year.

"Show me bigger circles" Su-Metal has the ability to turn a crowd of tens of thousands of people into cheese. Proof above.
Many BABYMETAL songs are tributes to or are inspired by legendary pieces of heavy metal. This one is most certainly a tribute to CHILDREN OF BODOM - Trashed, Lost & Strungout. Listen to it, you can't miss the similarities.

The "Nice Guitar" guy is Isao Fujita. Known for using 8 strings. He had previously did shows for Babymetal in 2015. He returned in 18 when guitarist Mikio Fujioka died (01/05/18)as a result of injuries sustained from a fall almost a week earlier. The other guitarist Takayoshi Ohmura, is using Mikio's guitar here (ESP Snapper 7 Burgundy Mist). It was given to him by Mikio's family along with his 6 string version too. Takayoshi has multiple signature models of his own. But has been playing Mikio's as his primary since. He even uses the whammy bar now (he didn't use one before), because it was a large part of Mikio's style with his use of harmonics. The following year (2019) they put horrible masks on the band so the could keep focus on the girls and so the could use other musicians. As they have been doing now. The line up here has not played with BM since January last year.

As Jake mentioned that was ISAO stage left with the 8-string. He was a real trouper as he played that leg of the tour in Europe with a serious case of tendonitis.

I feel like Isao is the most unsung of the Kami. He came in under difficult circumstances after Mikio's passing, and he's not well known as appreciated as Takayoshi Ohmura, but he's a fantastic guitarist in his own right and I don't think he gets enough appreciation.

@@Icipher353Yes ISAO is a very talented guitarist and yes he is very underrated as a member of the KAMI BAND Even though he was there from time to time before Mikio' passed away I really got into watching him play guitar when he was doing stuff with Fuki with some of her projects

    _Show me big circle!_ 🦊👇💫🏃‍♂️
Glad to see you're back with more BM songs, this time going back to Metal Galaxy 3rd album.
This song is a banger and Japanese fans really like this song, they usually play this in their concerts like recently at Europe & UK Tour and throughout all setlist of this World Tour 2023.
This was in 2018 when YuiMetal about to leave the band for good, sadly.
Usually this song came after "In The Name Of" intro during live performance, is part of the Dark Side of this Metal Galaxy album and got Sepultura vibes, a tribute to another Brazilian metal band that the creator love and respect.
Distortion was supposed to be a live premiere song with YuiMetal dancing at Legend S 2017 SuMetal 20th birthday, but that never happened.
Song talks about internal and external conflicts in your own mind, and another face of SuMetal, that's why KobaMetal choose another singer to represent the other side with the growls.
The 3rd album Metal Galaxy and live performance version after 2019 got the growlings collaboration of Alissa White-Gluz from Arch Enemy. There's also and official MV but none of the girls featured there only CGI and images related to the Chosen Seven lore, so don't mind reacting to it, you can watch it in your own time if you want, is still kinda cool.
This drastic costume changes was during Dark Side era, and they're looking so badass. After this tour, dancers were replaced by a new set of dancers rotation system called _avengers,_ but none of them have a mic or sing, they just dance, but in this era and live tour they were backing up by these two backup dancers called "muscle-metal" by the fans, during big live concert at "Dark Night Carnival" 2018 they put more dancers and a temporary dancer filling the third spot of YuiMetal.
Here MoaMetal was dancing behind SuMetal.
The Kami Band there were: ISAO and Takayoshi Ohmura on guitars. BOH on bass and Hideki Aoyama on drums, the only change here was ISAO because Mikio Fujioka (a beloved Kami Band guitarist) past away by this time (R.I.P.), it was really a "dark side era" when this two sad events came to this group, without YuiMetal and Mikio the guitarist.
Btw probably this song took some inspiration from Children Of Bodom - Trashed, Lost And Strungout, so it is melodic death metal.
    Next suggestion:
    - Headbanger!! live at Legend 1997 (2013), Gans Tomas got this usually safe to react under "Head Bangya" title.
    See you next time.🦊🤘🔥

Great reaction - and you are absolutely right about their choreo, they introduced it (or at least their own style, but I don't recall there being much if any choreographed dance in metal beyond the synchronised headbanging or guitar waving etc that you mentioned) and it just adds so much ... I would have never expected it to do that and I would have thought it would just be silly and wouldn't work if it had been suggested to me before I saw them doing it.
As you have been told already, 2018 was a tough year for them. Yui was unable to tour, but she was still a member of the band, so rather than just have someone take her place in the choreo while she was still a member and while they were waiting for her expected return, Su and Moa went centre stage, one behind the other, and they had the two dancers (nicknamed Muscle Metal by the fans) supporting them off to either side.
The "Elf Warrior" costumes were linked to the BABYMETAL lore of the Chosen 7 and the Dark Side of that year.
This was Download UK. They have an interesting history with Download. In 2014 they appeared at Sonisphere in the UK and the organiser for Download was asked if they would be playing there too. He said there was a time and a place for a band like BABYMETAL but that would never be Download and he effectively banned them.
In 2015 they were due to perform with DragonForce at an awards show in London shortly after Download ... Herman Li and DragonForce smuggled them into Download. The organiser saw them wandering round back stage and tweeted "what is going on?" When DragonForce played their set they invited BABYMETAL on stage and gave up some of their own time to play 'Gimme Chocolate' with them.
Word had got out and the crowd that had gathered far exceeded the capacity of the stage DrgonForce were playing - and BABYMETAL went down a storm.
In 2016 BABYMETAL got their own invite to play Download from the organiser (still not a fan, but at least he saw sense) and they had their own set on the main stage. It rained so hard that their set was delayed for 40 minutes so the equipment could be covered and water swept off the stage (there are photos of their producer Kobametal doing the sweeping to make the stage safe for them to perform).
Again they went down a storm (literally in that weather) and here they were again, killing it at Download in 2018. They were due to play again in 2020, but that didn't happen for obvious reasons.

I love Distortion, it's such a vibe and a great song for outdoor shows, but it's also incredible to watch indoor performances with the crazy production they have in Japan. Another fascinating thing about BABYMETAL is that they are very open to showcase diverse musicality, the KAMI BAND is a core example of that, when the girls still didn't had a real band in the beggining it had already a neat audience then after some time the session musicians gave and also received the opportunity to work with BABYMETAL and here we are today, their musicality only got stronger but outside of the core example you also get to see different dancers on stage in special occasions, unexpected collaborations as well featuring unusual artists, and even 2 bands on stage, the eastern KAMI BAND (showcased in this video) and the western KAMI BAND (different musicians for their tour in overseas or when the eastern KAMI BAND can't be active in some occasions) played together so there is a lot of musicianship and a lot of people shine in this big musical act, it's mesmerizing to watch as you said. I usually would never suggest this live for a first time reaction, but I think Road of Resistance live on Makuhari Messe International Exhibition Halls would be amazing for you to react, if you need a link for this one I would be glad to share since I don't know if some YT channel has the video or not 🦊🤘🔥

This is Download in the UK.
This was an unusual situation where Yui was absent for health reasons, so they had two backup dancers with Su and Moa. Later in 2019 when it was clear Yui wasn't returning, they rotated one of three different people called Avengers into Yui's old spot, but the person wouldn't sing or get a mic. They had that for about four years, when they finally got a new permanent member in April of last year: Momo, the person you saw in the previous performances, and who was one of those Avengers.

Hell yeah, Bill! Great reaction once again. Distortion is a fan favorite, and Babymetal still plays that song today! 2018 is a dark time for Babymetal, I'm sure other comments have filled you in a bit on what went down. Props to Babymetal to keep the energy and enthusiasm despite everything. I know some of the changes can get confusing for new fans/viewers, so here's a brief timeline to help with future reactions:
*2010:* Babymetal formed, with Su-metal, Yuimetal, and Moametal.
*2012:* Kami Band joins Babymetal for the first time, and plays partial sets for some of Babymetal's live. Fake band "Babybones" in skeleton costumes plays to tracked music on other songs.
*2014:* Kami Band becomes Babymetal's full-time backing band, fully replacing "Babybones" and plays 100% of their live shows from here on out.
*2017 Late:* Yuimetal stopped performing due to undisclosed health reasons.
*2018 Jan:* Mikio Fujioka of Kami Band passes away due to an accidental fall from an observation tower. Babymetal tries to figure out what to do with Yui still a member but her not being able to perform.
*2018 Early:* Su and Moa are joined by 2 backup dancers (no mics), along with a major costume change to a darker look. *This is when this performance of Distortion took place.*
*2018 Late:* Yui officially announces her departure in Oct. Su and Moa are joined by 5 total backup dancers (no mics).
*2019:* The 5 backup dancers are replaced by 3 "Avengers", backup dancers rotating in and out of Yui's old spot (no Mics). One of the 3 is Momoko Okazaki. Kami Band West joins Babymetal to assist with increased touring.
*2020:* Babymetal stops performing due to COVID-19. By year's end, 2 of the 3 Avengers go on to do solo projects, and Momoko continues to support Babymetal as an "Avenger".
*2021:* Babymetal holds a 10-year celebration with 10 shows (10 Babymetal Budokan), then goes on hiatus.
*2022:* Babymetal returns and releases new singles for their new concept album (4th album, The Other One).
*2023:* Babymetal resumes live shows and touring. Kami Band West performs 100% of shows this year for Babymetal. In April, Momoko becomes the official 3rd member, stage name Momometal, now WITH a mic!
Finally, since Yui's departure, and all the craziness in between, Babymetal's back to whole again, and their chemistry and stage energy are just off the charts this year. You can see the girls truly having fun again and being themselves!
Look forward to more Babymetal! 🤘🦊

These are the so-called “muscle metal” which is just before “the chosen seven” era. The more traditional “triangle” formation returned for a couple of gigs later that year using one of those girls before the following year’s avengers confirmed it. . Su also went back to wearing her iconic single ponytail & Moa her “ twin tails”. This continued until April 2023 when Momoko the avenger became the joyous Momometal. ✌️
