And now you're into another different time, "Dark Night Carnival era tour", our girls looking badass with those new costumes, and with the help of more dancers, fans called them "muscle metal".
This series of shows started without YuiMetal who left the group at the end of 2017, and officially in october 2018.
SuMetal got 20 yo, and MoaMetal close to 19 yo (she's behind SuMetal here on the stage), they were still young, but of course, if you watched them since their beginning you will notice they grew up a lot.
Dowload 2018 was at Donington Park, Castle Donington UK. By this time UK was already their 2nd home.
The english lyrics parts pretty much saying:

Alissa White-Glutz from Arch Enemy did the growling part for the album version.
Our queen is already such a pro commanding the crowd, but sometimes the crowd did not respond like she wants to, that happened when they were supporting Metallica in South Korea, and when Su-Metal was trying to iniciate a circle pit waving his finger, the crowd misunderstood and started to copy her gesture lol Well sometimes is about try and failure, the girls know that.
Babymetal mosh'sh pit are a safer version of the usual mosh, fans already know that so you don't worry about having fun with all those whirlwind crazy circle pits at BM concerts, that's part of the fun, but the thing i would probably be annoyed is the crowd surfing stuff, but that's only on the western crowd, in the japanese crowd is an unusual thing.
If you loved this era and costumes, you will find more songs on this festival and live concerts with this concept, i recommend you to watch _Meta Taro_ live Dark Night Carnival 2018, with some "special" guests, trust me it'll be fun, but becareful with the copyright blocked issues.

Good reaction. Download UK, I think that is at Donington Park (a motor racing circuit). 2018 was the dark side era, so the costumes were a little more 'grown up' and, with Yui unable to perform throughout the tour, Su and Moa were supported by the two dancers (Muscle metal as they became known) to either side of the stage.
Su was 20, Moa was 18 or 19.
On the album version of 'Distortion' the growls are provided by guest vocalist Alissa White-Gluz from Arch Enemy. That was recorded maybe a year after this performance.
I could tell they looked older!
I've heard of Arch Enemy, but I don't think I've ever listened before!
A lot of Babymetal songs have the occassional word, phrase or passage in English. There are English versions of Elevator Girl and The One. From Dusk Till Dawn is in English but very hard to make out without subtitles

BOH's six-stringed bass is his signature model from Atelier-Z.
While guitarist Takayoshi Ohmura is known for his signature twinkle-pink Ohmura custom ESP Snapper 7, I believe he was playing one of the guitars he inherited from Kami Band guitarist Mikio Fujioka (RIP).
Also an ESP Snapper 7, but a Fujioka custom model.
This show would be the summer of 2018, so Su would have still been 20 and Moa (behind her in the video) would have been 18 or 19 depending on the date of the show (her birthday is July 4th).
Nice & thanks again from Japan 有難う💛。 BABYMETAL's "Dark Side Era in 2018" may be regarded as chrysalis. When the era ended, they showed up again in front of their fandom in a form of beautiful butterflies that are no cute little girls any longer but grown-up ladies after going through tough experiences. Now in 2021, "Distortion" was performed each and every show in the 10BABYMETAL BUDOKAN concerts that completed on April 15 here in Tokyo. Once "wow wow wow oh" intro got started, the crowd started to get hyped. Me? Of course. I got hyped anytime, but the mosh / circle pit was impossible under the pandemic condition. In addition, Budokan is an all seater arena.
Chrysalis is a great description for 2018 BABYMETAL.
@@rickwagner- Thanks for your reply. Talking about Dark Side, it must have been a part of Koba's original plan. As you know, Koba answered "there was the concept of dark side prior to Legend-S" (source : Bessatsu Kadokawa P.127). ITNO was performed as an opening and Kamis were already in black costume with hood in the December 2017 show. Therefore the Dark Side era was specifically for transition from child to adult. In other words, the preparation for transformation into butterflies already started in 2017 as Koba had premeditated it regardless of Yui's departure and defying the risk of losing many fans who love just cuteness. He is a genius having long-term strategy.
@@flugelhornoldman1362 I'm sure some fans would have been much more accepting of the Dark Side if Yui had been a part of it.
Sadly it didn't work out that way. But, like you said, those plans were already set in motion.
I'm very curious as to how they will address the choreography once they are "unsealed" in the future.
The triangle formation is very strong, but all of the avengers have moved on to other projects.

Yeah, the crowd control... and considering this was a "festival type" of crowd, I mean mixed, not just their fans... it's pretty awesome!
Yep, that was 2018, the year I keep pretending never happened. And not only about BABYMETAL but also personally. But glad you liked the costumes and so... In my opinion the formation, the costumes, the makeup, the head bands... are not for me. But I enormously appreciate Su and Moa's determination on going on despite all what happened in late 2017 and 2018.

You did Road of Resistance, and during the end they sing:

They even have a few Full-English songs: "The One", "Elevator GIrl" and "From Dusk Till Dawn"
For the first two, there is also an official MV, and those are songs that have 2 versions: One full English they usually sing outside Japan, and one that's half in english and half in Japanese when they play it in Japan :)
You could do one of these, or go back at where everything started, and react to their first 2 MV they ever released: "Doki Doki Morning" and "Iine"
The 1997 in the Legend 1997 title is a reference to the year Su was born, which was 1997 :). Babymetal has release about 50 songs now, so there are still plenty to choose from. The Dark Carnival time was defo a transition period for Babymetal where they were wearing darker outfits that fit their more mature style overall. To be honest I was never a big fan of that style and like the recent ones way more. Babymetal is pretty much used to big crowds by now, since they filled the Tokyo Dome twice with 55.000 fans on two consecutive days xd. I absolutely agree with you, Babymetal absolutely puts me in a good mood as well every time I listen to them, which is pretty much every day :)
I'm '94 myself. So, I can just subtract 3 from my age and should know roughly what her age is :)

I share your pain about crowded festivals. I went to a couple of Lollapaloozas. RotR is literally right down the road. I wish I had known about Babymetal in 2018 because I would've dove right back in. At least I can watch it on UA-cam. Good set.
I did get to see some bands live there that I thought I'd never see, but it's not something i want to experience again! Lol

That was Isao with the 8-string. He had done some kamiband performances some years before. And came back in presumably because Mikio (RIP) was originally going to be in the line up (just a guess). He played that leg of the tour with a serious case of tendonitis. I saw a photo or bit of video that showed him after the set with his left forearm in a big tub of ice. He was a real trouper.

That 8 string isn't even their biggest guitar. You can see the 9 string come out during BxMxC video etc. ESP made the 9 string as a collab with BabyMetal for the Metal Galaxy album/tour.
